Topic: Throne of the Phantom King
Subject: update

It is early in the morning, as the sun has barely crested over the horizon. The group of adventurers had taken care of their needs, wants, and supplies for the trip on which they were about to embark.

Talon, at the end of their meeting, had told them to meet him and his wagon at the gates by no later than sunrise. They were in danger of being late.

The team fortunately prepared and packed the night before, so all they had to do was dress and eat breakfast. In the hurry they were in, breakfast was an on foot thing, and they were on their way.

Upon reaching the city gates and the merchant's wagon, a haggard, somewhat hungover man looked from around the corner of his well stocked wagon's canopy, and with a voice that sounded like he gargled with gravel this morning, he says, "Glad to see you all could make it! Did someone put stickem in Y'alls bed last night?"

“Stonecipher? I am Bruno Clearwater of the Hunter Moon Tribe. Though I was not with my companions when business was decided, rest assured that I will do my tribe proud by giving my body, mind and soul to your well being.” As Bruno walked up to the man, his pony clomping behind him, he made the half-hung-over human stretch his neck muscles as he looked down to keep eye contact with the Halfling. Bruno did give him a stern look, “However, do not speak words that will dishonour me. As far as I am concerned, such a commodity (honour) is worth more than a dragon’s horde of precious gems and metal, and far harder to attain. So long as you respect me as an equal, so too will I treat you as mine.”

"Aye, I agree, young sir! Honor is hard to come by. If I treated you not as an equal, I would treat you like you were me own son! I am older and wiser than you by a decade at least. I would not cast any dispersions on your honor, under any circumstances, for you and your comrades are of good character, if not fashionably late." No sooner did he speak that last line did the last of the group show up.

"Sorry about being late. I think the ale went bad we had yesterday. Okay, let's get moving then."

"Bah, nothing wrong with the ale, just the imbiber, lad!" Talon said with a pained, hungover grin,"probably brewed a bit stronger here than where you all come from. Well, lets get a move on,I'd personally like to make the foot hills of Mt. Harauk before sun set."

Bruno mounted his pony, and threw a fist to rising sun: a gesture to proceed forward to adventure as Talon snapped his whip and called out to his horses,"Getalong, there!"

The wagon began to move forward on towards the western Harauk Mountain range.

Ive just started a game called Throne of the Phantom King, that I welcome you to join. It uses the 3.5 dnd rule set. Check out the Q&a for Character creation and lurk in the game if you wish to get an idea what PBP is all about.

there are also freeform games for people that are looking for something that is not so rule heavy.

At any rate enjoy yourself while you are here, fellow inn-mate!

My Star wars character is Darth Ravenous.

My mom is only 4'11" and she's not a dwarf, she was just born a premie.

as for the knight, most likely a member of the Knights of Columbus. They do actually dress in armor and carry swords.

For once in his life, Dan felt sure-footed and solid where he came to stand. For the time being, anyway, sure enough to break his concentration from Iris long enough to lock eyes with the new stranger.

With a gleem of annoyance and suspicion in his eye, (or was it focus?)he said to the new girl,"Well, now that one of us has stuck their neck out on the line for you two, would you mind telling us what that was all about? I mean, you might want to tell us something before those pokemon that were released or their police owners return, find you, and they tell us. That is after they clap my friend Norman here in irons for obstructing justice and misleading an investigation."

First off id like to say i wish I knew about Rule 2 before i wrote up my new character and sent it to Olan.

second, Meri, you can't improve your game now. Youre the hot chick that's supposed become Zombie chow and test Murph's ruthlessness and detachment.

Gee I wonder who the red neck(s) of the group is(are)?

Just leave me in a store somewhere with a note saying where you all went. When and if I wake up, Ill come find you or get eaten. Don't know if the GM will agree with me on this but the zombies don't bother with the dead still bodies laying about, just the ones fighting amongst themselves, makin' a racket and as Kramer put it ringing the dinner bell.
Noise and possibly motion attracts them so as long as Im out like a light, I might be ok. Kinda like playin' dead.

Oh yeah while Im here:

Grugg asked, "Tiamat, considering I'm carrying you in a wheelbarrow, do you have any preferences on what goes down?

answer: If there is someone without a gun and strong enough to push the wheel barrow, they should be doing that with a armed escort to cover the pusher.

"Id glad to give you information, tell stories of past runs, and pass on rumors about certain....People..., but there are things you just don't talk of in a tavern, and one of them things is politics."

Looking around to see if anyone is listening that shouldnt be, he continues, "I could talk your ear off if you let me." he said with a wide grin.

"Now unless you plan on walking the full way, yes, you will all need mounts for I need the majority of the space in my small wagon.....And promise you interaction? My friends, if we run into any gnolls, they will insist upon 'interaction' with us! You'd be mighty hard pressed to avoid interaction with these beasts.....My cargo? Mostly gems used as spell components, a few mixtures, healing potions, and more mundane spell components such and glass rods and furry pelts, guano, sulfur and the like. That won't make anything really difficult will it? You know the band of gnolls that live 'round here locally, have a new master, and from what i hear, he's interested in magic. Don't get the wrong idea, i wouldn't sell him anything, not that he would buy it when he can have his goons steal it. I can't recall his name, but the name seems important enough to the gnolls which he leads to the point that they worship him."

He let that sink in and then finished,"There are questions that I will answer on the road and not in an environment as this. I promise you that. All I ask in return for helping you get there safely is that you help me and my cargo get to Leafhaven safely. Have we got a deal?" he asked finally with a smile. "Let drink on it", he said raising his tankard, "To a safe haul all the way to Leafhaven!"

Seluumiel loosed four balls of magic energy, having no problem hitting with each one. The arrowhawk reeled back in the sky righting itself in mid air before its offensive dive.

Another dove in behind the arrow hawk that had been hit almost as if to say,"I've got your back!" and attacked Seluumiel with its electric tail, the shock knocking the wind from her as she fought the urge to drop to her knees.

It avoided its attacker considering her to be too powerful to be prey, and settled for the pale, weak looking one. One bite was all it took for the "bird" to back peddle with disgust at the taste of dead blood. It was too late for the creature to turn its beak up at this meal for Xavier let fly a expertly thrown shuriken that lodged itself deep into its neck with a profuse gush of blood. This one had enough and tried weakly to retreat.

During the first attacker's retreat another of the beasts come down from the sky and bites at Tenacity drawing forth her blood to mingle on its tongue. It was sweet and it wanted more. The creature had yet to pay for its first taste though, and pay it did. With a slash from Tenacity's sword, she dealt a severe blow to its two right wings.
With that, she yelled to the group,"Get behind me! We'll make it harder for them to target you directly."

The wound to the creatures wings greatly impeded its ability to fly right and it was only able to make it twenty-five feet up. As it tried to "limp" out of range of any further punishment, it witnesses one of its companions being seared with a ray of fire and drop from the sky.

As if a bit of foreshadowing were apparent, shortly after the fall of its comrade, Tenacity's attacker takes an arrow to the breast as a second zings too close for comfort for the winged beast and it retreats as the radiance of the Fractal Zone begins to light the night of Genesica.

These creatures the group did battle with are not dim witted in the least, just hungry, and they know when they've bitten off more than they can chew. So, in full retreat and empty stomachs they disappear over the ever dimming horizon.

Not even a day is spent in this new world and this stalwart band of adventurers are already considered prey.
