Subject: thanks Malek04....

you ruined my "Han Solo" moment.
You know,"Well he certainly has courage"...."What good will it do us if he gets himself killed?"

I was waiting to open the door, when T_catt let me know what kind of door ill be opening or if I am able to open it. It could be a sliding door. and you won't be able to hold the shot gun and force a sliding door open, will you?

FOR ALL PLAYERS: I gave the map a good checking over, and this is what I found out: the GM has fictitiously placed most of the places including O'briens. So this is T_catt's vision not Google's.

Get this, lol, where Save Rite is supposed to be is a shop called "Gay Mart", I kid you not!

And the actual Patty O'Brien's on the Google map is on N. Wells, a good 15-25 miles south of the party's position.

"Mac, not to be rude, but I'm not so sure you need to be the one going first. After all, you... Needed assistance before...I mean, that's about as smart as having me go first...", Emily said.

Mac felt the beginnings of a smile work up on his face as he half way turned to see Emily out of the corner of his eye, which meant he couldn't resist the joking sarcasm that seemed to flow so easily from him,"Awwwww, I didn't know you cared so much." Then a bit more on the serious side he continued,"and I thank you for that assistance, and in this situation, I'll have assistance again, from Murph. Besides, who says I'm going in first? I'm just checking the door. When Murph and I are satisfied it's safe I'll hold the door while you all file inside, in order."

He then looks at Murph, whom Mac assumes has been listening to the back and forth between the two, and says still in a semi-hushed voice, "We have nothing but time so, do you want to cover me as I check the door, or should I cover you, and you check the door? Take your time, no rush or anything, just wanna get off the streets, that's all."

not the band either.

Are the doors (or door) push and pull, or step on the square automatic sliding doors? If automatic, I'll have to edit my post, cause with the power out, we'd have to force automatic doors open.

After Emily's rant was over, Mac walked cautiously over to her close enough for her to hear him whisper, "So, did we get it out of our system? I hope so cause like Amber, I don't like the idea of announcing our whereabouts with a lot of noise. I'll make a deal with you. You keep it together, and I'll make damn sure you get the next gun we find...ok? I hate these creatures just as much as you do, but I don't think that they are harboring warm and fuzzy feeling for us either. So let's just make it to the pharmacy, and get you and Jake taken care of, please. One step at a time."

Murph seemed to concur with what Mac said too, if only for different reasons.

“Yeah,” Murph whispered, turning once more to the undamaged store-fronts, “The sooner we get in, the sooner we get out, and the sooner we get you to Joshua. You just stick with me, baby, and we’ll get out of this just fine… I promise...”

Taking some initiative as they neared the entrance to the store, Mac broke into a easy jog to the right side of the door, motioning for Jake and Emily to get behind him.

"Murph, you and the others take the left side of the door. We'll check the situation from the doors first, then you cover me as I check to see if the door is unlocked. If no problems presents themselves, we SHOULD be alright to enter", Mac said in a semi-hushed voice.

((Assuming everyone will, for the moment, follow my lead. I check the door to see if it opens freely.))

Rumors abound in a kingdom searching for an heir to the empty throne. Some say that Mezneok had a twin, though no one is sure if he still lives. Some closer to the family say the smaller baby was given up to the shaman’s mate who was a midwife.

Mezneok grew to be a great man in power and in size for he had no equal in strength. Though his demeanor was calm and peaceful, in war his animosity knew no bounds. Many enemies fell under his sword. Those who begged for mercy became his closest servants for he believed, “You should keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” It was this mercifulness that earned him the moniker “The Benevolent Tyrant” from his captives.

No one knew the way the king thought better than his Grand Vizier, Jaspina. She was key in keeping the kingdom in line for she would scry in her spherical crystal and report to the King what she saw.

One mid-autumn day, she looked into her crystal and saw a holy symbol of Weejas and a stick of ivory carved in the likeness of a dragon ending with a gold disk and a ruby. After some extensive research she learned that the object she saw was a rare object of rumored great power. She told the King of the legendary Elven Hilt of Wondrous Blades. She explained to him, “To the west of this kingdom, just beyond Mt. Haurach, is a centuries old ruin of a temple of Weejas. King Boriff was the last of his line and legend says he was buried with it when he was found dead in the lower level of the temple. She told him of the Hilt’s rumored great power, "for why else would someone go to the trouble to hide it? Why else would King Boriff use it as a scepter, a symbol of power?”

King Mezneok and four expertly trained soldiers rode off to the west bound for the temple ruins………none returned. That was two years ago, as of today.

I'm looking for at least four players for this game
(6 players max). If interested, post your intent to join, then consult the Q&A thread of this game for character creation details.

"Say, Iris, Why don't you keep that mean thing in a pokeball, huh? Might teach it some manners." he said with a smile.

"So any idea what your grandfather wants? Maybe it has something to do with those explosions and smoke."

One thing his friends learned about Dan early on is that he seems mean spirited but its all in fun. Kinda hard to take anything seriously when your father is a circus performer.

Looking back he say,"Hey Thrash, the battle's over man. You gonna sit there collecting dust all day?"

I only know one of my pokemon's moves. "Roll-out".
What are the rest? Just my preference, but I do not want my voltorb to learn "self destruct".

Dan hated draws.

"Sure Norman, under the circumstances we can call it a draw for now, but I want a rematch later on ok?"

He then turned to his voltorb. "Voltorb, that was a nice rollout you did. Way to go. Now return!", Dan commanded.

It was strange commanding a ball shaped pokemon (that, strangely enough, looked like a pokeball itself) to return to its pokeball. It sort of reminded him of nesting dolls.

He followed Norman's gaze over to Iris and saw the disturbed look on her face during her phone call.

If we stop battles and jam out before its finished, my voltorb will never become an Electrode like my Dad's pokemon.

Dan followed Norman over to the group of friend huddled around Iris in hopes of learning a bit more of her issue.

the "bird-like" creatures that are attacking the party are arrowhawks.

I just described them because I didn't think the characters ever encountered them before. They may be exotic and alien to the characters.

Xavier got a 17 init and Camille got a 14 init.

Arrowhawks get 20 init. so the order is:

Seluumiel
Arrowhawks
Xavier
Tenacity
Camille
Chiron

EDIT:
post Anything you say or do here. I'll handle dice rolls in the battle. just seems easier that way. Then I will post in story form your conversations and the resulting events that take place in the battle for each round.

Mac couldn't really make heads or tails of Alaster's sudden turn around.

Is the boy bipolar or something?

Mac simply harrumphed at him when Alaster said,"C'mon laugh with me its good for the soul guys. Stop looking so gloom and doom lighten up a bit. I mean I know its not much but we got each other and some weapons. Cant we all be happy about that. It heals the soul now laugh."

Mac didn't break his stride a bit, but eyed Alaster wearily and said, "Happy, no. Thankful, yes. I don't know about you sometimes, but I do plan to get in a few good belly laughs....when we are safe and sound in one of those stores and I have a full belly, and not a moment before. Then and only then will I laugh. Hell, I might lead everyone in a dirty joke telling session to relieve the stress!"

Alaster didn't know it, but he did help Mac out quite a bit. He had pulled Mac out of the vortex of depression he had only begun to spiral into. He would have thanked him for it, but he didn't want to encourage his lighthearted behavior, for there really wasn't anything lighthearted about this.

He might mention it later, but not now.

Look out...Mac may be going section 8 on yall in the near future.

But seriously, Mac hasn't had his freak out yet. Mainly, it's because he covers it up with bravado and jokes, and whatever is left over, he swallows it, buries it inside, showing no sign, not even to him, of its potential danger.

I plan to do more character exposition as time, zombies, and life allows. As the singer, Seal says, "No, you're never gonna survive, unless, you get a little crazy"

It's amazing how some things desensitize you. Mac had seen carnage very similar to this when Katrina hit Louisiana in '05. Only the water covered most of the morbid stuff. However, when the water receded, the bloated, fly and maggot infested corpses were left behind. Those not lucky enough to get air lifted off of their roof, or trapped in their vehicles as the flood waters slammed and pushed them were finally submerged for the final curtain call.
Yeah he's seen it before. Death, nowhere near as neat and clean as taking a guy out at fifty to one hundred yards, as you see a pained look on the face and the dead man drops in the view of your rifle scope. No, Death, up close and smelly, dirty, and down right horrific. The definition of "desensitized"? Comfortably numb. Mac wasn't heartless, just desensitized to it all.

“I am not going to leave him behind to rot with the rest of them. Now get your head in gear. If he does start to show any signs or if he starts looking weary and tired then I'll carry him if that’s what it takes but I’m not going to take the life of a human and have it on my conscience. I already killed two today”, Alaster protested. “Let's go.”

“No one said anything about leaving him,” Amber said. “…We are going,” she continued, matter-of-factly, “To the drugstore. Get some penicillin for Emily and some bandages for Jake… some food and supplies for the rest of us.”

“Augmentin,” Emily corrected then, “I think that I may have pneumonia. Penicillin will help if it's streptococcus based, but not if it's homophilus. Augmentin will kill them both.”

Mac saw the start of a smile on Murph’s face. Mac spoke what he thought must be on everyone’s mind, “I’m impressed! Hey, if I ever get hurt out here, I call dibs on Emily, healing me."
Mac smiled big for the first time, in a long time. Mac knew then that he HAD to take care of her. If this is happening everywhere, the world would need her knowledge to get past this epidemic.

“I'm studying to be a doctor,” Emily shrugged after a moment, “These kinds of facts stick with you.”

Once Murph was satisfied that the group were all on the same page, he says, “We keep movin’, though… keep doin’ what needs done… and we’ll get out of this… find ourselves with plenty of time to think Until then, do what it takes to keep your mind off of it…”

Murph studied Alaster for a long moment, then with a faint, sideways nod eastward towards their destination; “You wanna take point for a while? Give you a chance to think about somethin’ else?”

“All right,” Murph said, “We made it this far. I told you, people, you were the baddest in the valley…” He pointed at the Save Rite with the shotgun… “there’s our number one objective… medicine, first aid supplies, whatever we can use…” the barrel of the shotgun moved to point at Ace Hardware, “number two; axes, machetes, boots, tools, same deal”… Murph tipped his head back indicating the food store… “we worry about food after we get the rest out of the way.

We’ve got a couple of hours before sunset,” he said, already on the move towards the pharmacy, “let’s get a move on.”

Mac preferred movement to standing still for any length of time. If he had his way, the group would defend, kill, and move. None of this mental recovery crap.

“Yes, let’s”, Mac said.

The world has obviously gone crazy. Only a matter of time before I join it.

No one that posted after me took this part of my post into account:

He then became aware that Alaster was beating a dead horse and said,"Come on, man". He wrapped his arms around him tight to restrain him and pull him away.

"I think it's dead, and your slinging that crap all over the place! Now, we need to keep moving and get Jake and Emily taken care of. Its not too far away, now."

Did it never happen? should I edit (delete) it?

Mac squeeze off his shot and missed completely. There was no time to bash himself for his failure because he was too busy pistol whipping another one of those freaks that leaped at him. Emily stepped up to bat with her tire iron and Jake brought it down with a crack to the head.

It wasn't till the end of the fight he had realized that Jake had been up close and personal with one of those things and was bitten.

Mac was disappointed with himself, but tried very hard not to let it show. It seemed ironic that he made himself a barrier between the three that were coming at them and Emily, but it was Emily and Jake that pulled his fat from the fire. Being saved by a girl, cause he missed. That was a first for him but he wasn't so shallow that he wouldn't give credit where credit was due.

"Thanks, Emily, for having back. You too, Jake. Hope I can return the favor sometime."

"Stupid f****** thing!"
Whack! Whack! Whack!
"I'm tired and I don't want to be bothered by any of you things ever again."
Whack! Whack! Whack!

Still disappointed, he fell silent, with nothing more to say.
Just wish I could've been more help.
