Gotta get the next adventure ready for tonight's Chat room game and have to make a Half elf bard character for Lady Dark, Whom by the way has my appreciation for her unbridled support of the chat games.
Oh dang! That reminds me I need to level up the characters for that near TPK victory against the dragon last week! See?

Quarilin shrugs,"I didn't say that nothing came from my time of studying the Path of Power, I'm only saying that the benefits might not be obviously evident. However, I am in full agreement. We should take the path of faith with Heironymous taking point. If the path does test us, he would be the most likely to know how to pass its tests."
Quarilin grabs his gear and prepares to move on from this foyer and into the unknown.
"Ready when you all are.", he says with a quirky smirk.

Mendez woke feeling well rested. As he stood, the weakness in his left leg seemed all but gone. He retrieved for himself and Teo some breakfast, but as he went about his morning business, the annoying limp still remained. "If this Keeps up I'm gonna need a cane", Mendez thought to himself.
Mendez returned to his flop with food and drink in hand, and sat down somewhat roughly on the bed roll. Teo had not yet stirred from his slumber.
Mendez lifted the flap to Teo's leather carrying pouch to let the sunlight in saying to him, *"Teo, it is time to wake up! Last call for breakfast."*
As the light of morning shined in Teo's face, he curled up into a fuzzy little ball, using his paws to block the sun from his eyes.
As he said so, Mendez broke off a pinch of bread that he toasted by the fire and waved it before the rodent's nose.
*"I'm awake,I'm awake! OK? The best part of waking up, is breakfast in your face, I suppose. I had the most strange dream. A dream that I was trying to work out and understand til you interrupted my sleep!"*, Teo said in half earnest and half mock dismay.
*"What, dreaming of that Red eyed, Albino rodent wench again?"*, Mendez said through low chuckles.
Teo eyed Mendez with a rueful glare that ended the chuckles from Mendez abruptly and said in a most perturbed series of squeaks, *"Nothing so mundanely routine or.......Pleasant. No, actually, to the contrary! This dream was very disturbing. I have a bad feeling that what we experienced at the inn yesterday was just the beginning. If my dream was anything more than a dream, I believe we were the true targets of the Shadow Dread. Someone wants us dead and out of the way. By the by, do the words 'Demon Wind' mean anything to you?"*
By the look on Mendez's face, a look of mixed amazement and shock, Teo knew that those words definitely held meaning.
After a moment of letting the significance of this settle in, Mendez finally responded to his little friend,*"Yes, it does hold meaning for me though I'm not sure why. I believe your dream and mine are not merely dreams, but some sort of revealing vision. A vision that I must speak with our team about forth with."
With that he stood and walked to the fire, and spoke out to all that would listen in true showman style, almost as if he were about to start a stand up comedy routine. That might even get Seb's attention.
"So, Anyone have any strange dreams last night they wanna talk about and bring out into the open? Discussion of which might just mean the difference between life and death in our endeavors in the near future."

Subject: This thread was meant for.....
honoring American heroes, our service men and women, and those that lost their lives on 9/11.
Im not saying that you don't have the freedom to debate the appropriateness, the morality,or the pro and cons of honoring these people, but could you have made a new thread for it. You have the freedom to do that too. Im disappointed that more than half this thread was used in this way.
In the interest of freely expressing one's views and opinions, I will not be doling out smites for the misuse of this thread. God bless America!

Topic: Tiamat's Chat Games 3.5
Subject: 9-6-11 Game day update
the adventure ended tonight with a small minion battle to soften up the characters for the real fight of good vs evil, the young red dragon.
What I can't figure out is that the party was a level 7 party and the dragon was a CR 7 creature. The battle was almost a TPK. They earned their gold and XP with that battle and completion of the adventure. So Im happy to announce that the characters level up to level 8 complete with items and money to spend new weapons and armors. Though a Faux pas was made in role playing concerning alignment and I had to send Sister Rose on an Atonement quest. So shes out for at least one adventure (just the character not the player. Lady Dark will be getting a half elf bard to play next week).
As always, I hope to see more interest in the chat games. Things seem to be slowing down with the chat room altogether.

Subject: 9-6-11 Game day
Game update from last week: The game went well considering the disappointing number of players last week. I expected more but Cest le vis *sp*.
The characters rescued celeste's old character Sister Rose and then decided to hunt for Brother Jasper before facing a somewhat unknown fierce enemy at the end of the tunnel. Lady Dark was our newest player that took over Sister Rose Leland for us that night and I hope to see her there again tonight!
And BTW Lady Dark, Thanks for the bump and your enthusiasm for the games! If Im not too tired after the 3.5 session, maybe everyone will be up for a game of Q4S.
Let this, today's post, serve also to remind those that are interested that tonight is game night and I'm hoping for an excellent turnout.
The character list for the chat games has been moved to the Game Q&A forum.

I could have sworn I posted this morning in this thread at around six o'clock. Maybe I just dreamed I did.
Well, When I woke up this morning it was nice and cool, around 70 degrees. Supposed to be even cooler tomorrow. Loving it. At least something good came of TS Lee and its week of rain that was dropped on us. Have a great day everyone!

"Well,as i said, I don't remember anything being imparted to me, but this: The door I was studying is the "Path of Power". I believe whatever path we take, the path will test us. Seeing as it is a cult we seek, followers of a given religion, we would need a "Path of Faith" instead. You were also studying a doorway. Did something in the fire set you upon such a study? What did your study reveal to you?"
After a sufficient pause to allow for a response, Quarilin says,"Well I think we need to get moving and explore further, but I will agree with the consensus of the group's decision as to which path we take and what we do next. I'm actually at a loss for ideas at the moment."

Subject: Mendez
The rations were replenished and the group was ready to get on the road again. As the party rode on, each individual handled the ride in their own way. Seb was quick to make jokes, though if he is the knight he claims to be, his attitude after such a somber matter was, even in Mendez's opinion, in bad taste and unbecoming of a Knight. Mendez and Teo talked quietly, keeping each other company as they rode back in last position. The horse's movements were making his injured leg uncomfortable.
The time to stop and make camp couldn't have come soon enough. Normally, Mendez enjoyed a good horse ride, but this time everything ached, even in spots he wouldn't feel right rubbing the pain out in present company. Teo was the lucky one. His cushioned pouch rocked him to sleep almost five miles back. *"hehe, now who's 'Sleeping Beauty'?" Mendez asked quietly, really to no one in particular, but in the language shared between his familiar and him.
Mendez vied for the middle watch, and though he heatedly debated Irael for the watch, Irael insisted that Mendez rest all night. Well, Mendez saw what happened last time he did what he had in his head to do, and didn't listen to anybody else. So he resigned himself to defeat on the issue (more out of respect and appreciation for the concern shown),and he had his rations for the night and settled down to sleep, in hopes that all would go well with the watches.

He was only just aware of garbled speech. Then a shaking of his shoulder. He then jolted awake only to close his eyes, and lurch forward. With a thud he hit the ground waking again from the sudden inertial change.
Quarilin sat up, blinking his dry eyes for moisture, and looked around at his surroundings, his gaze falling on his fellow adventurers.
"Raina? Heironymous? What's going on? Is it my watch already?"
Feeling confused, and even more so perplexed at the looks of concern from his companions, his last thoughts before falling into a trance began to flow like molasses back into his head. This was no longer a time for secrets.
"You two are going to think I'm crazy but, something in the fire told me to study the doors for the path. I'm not sure the path has been revealed to me yet. Maybe on a subconscious level, but I don't remember much. It seems to me as if I only began watching the patterns only a moment ago."

Subject: Mendez the Weak
A smirk crossed Irael's grim visage as he assisted Mendez down the stairs helped to deposit him into a chair in the common room.
Mendez felt pretty bad, both physically and emotionally. Usually his brash sense of intuition and gut instinct served him well. Still he failed and there were still those that lost their lives. Maybe not so much as a result of his actions, but if he hadn't acted so rashly, he may have stayed conscious and have been more help.
His mental capacity seemed to shift back and forth from his thoughts to an almost dream like state of garbled speech in the back ground. The pain in his left leg, it felt as if it was being sucked into a lifeless void, a vacuum, when that shadowy form touched him. And now, his leg felt cold and painfully numb, as if it was no longer a controllable part of him. He could barely move it.
Teo, his familiar, went back to his pouch as Mendez was righted and set into the chair, but Teo kept his head poked out to observe things going on around him. When Teo noticed that Mendez was about to lay his head down on the table and possibly doze off, Teo came out of his pouch, ran up Mendez's left arm, and did a jumping lap around his back to his right shoulder and arm, and stopped right in front of his human friend's face.
Standing on his hind legs and resting his paws on Mendez's nose for further balance, Teo said firmly in a series of squeaks,* "Oh no you don't! You won't get the healing you need, that way Sleeping Beauty! You also need to get the lead out of your backside and stop feeling bad for yourself. Listen up to those around you! There are things to be done! You wanna feel useful? Then make yourself useful!" *
Medez said nothing to the rodent but just smiled that familiar, cocky self assured smile, cleared his head as best as he could and listened to the plans being made. The focus hurt his head but no worse than hangovers he's had in the past, so he focused past the pain and the discomfort in his leg didn't seem as bad, as long as he didn't dwell on it. The first voice he became aware of was strange to him but at the same time a bit familiar. Why that was, he couldn't be sure, but listened intently on the conversation starting with the new elven woman....
She said,“I’ve been looking for any group affiliated with Militia Vericulum. Do you think your leader and your group would consider allowing me to join you on your mission? I need to help in any way possible against the … the troubles that have been plaguing our civilizations.”
As a Beguiler, Mendez knew how to negotiate without volunteering unnecessary information, to use magic to sway things his way, and to not insert pauses into his speech, in fact, when negotiating anything, he spoke somewhat quickly. He also knew how to read a person like a book, in the way one on the other end of negotiations spoke.
"Hmmmm....a pause, I wonder if Danamar caught that. She's leaving out information, and possibly an ulterior motive for wanting to join us. " Thought Mendez
Danamar then spoke,"It seems you have found what you were looking for. Not the easiest of feats to accomplish as we rarely reveal our routes or the purpose of our travel in public."
Then Danamar turned to Tad with a brief pause before continuing, "You have certainly performed well helping us defeat the dread. However, as I am certain you understand, we cannot place our trust into the hands of any or every stranger we come upon on our travels. Therefore I cannot reveal you our mission for now, but would definitely like to hear more of whatever evil or misfortune you have met previously."
Mendez thought to himself,"As would I."
Danamar offered his arm in greeting to the lady and said,"Elen sila lumenn omentilmo" (A star shall shine on the hour of our meeting). I am Danamar Amarillis, son of Alanmir. I am a servant of Nim'megil or Therassor if you like, a Warder of the Gate defending the light against the darkness and evil. I also the servant of the Militia Verriculum and have been honored by its leaders with leadership of this skilled team. As such I am not in power to accept you as a full member of the militia, but I am authorized to hire you as a helping hand which I will gladly do. I cannot say anything of the pay you are entitled to while working for the realm, but I can promise you a compensation for your efforts." Turning his gaze to Seb, Danamar nodded. "The same naturally applies to you, should you wish to join us on our journey as well."
"Now then. We have a lot of work ahead of us. But first there are more urgent things we must take care of. Unfortunately, as you all know, the stableboy Bil is somewhat too young to handle the Inn by himself. I am not aware of anyone having a claim over the establishment, family or lender. But that needs to be found out. However, in the case of no one having such a claim to inherit the inn, I am willing to give it over to Bil and his family should they wish to accept it. If you have any other knowledge or objections on the matter, please share them now. If not, I will make the necessary documents."
With a weak sigh Danamar cast a glance at the dead innkeep. "In the meanwhile, I would ask the rest of you to dig graves for the deceased in a place as peaceful as possible. When you are done, we will hold a short ceremony for their souls before getting back on the road again."
Mendez waited patiently, not wanting to interrupt. He finally spoke up,"Danamar,I would be more than willing to help dig the graves if you could help Restore me back to working condition, if you feel up to it. I feel weak as nothing I've felt before and my left leg isn't working right where that shadowy dread touched me. I guess I should feel lucky it didn't get a better hold of me."

I hate worms. They're icky and slimy. I had a nightmare that I died. I was put into the casket and buried. The grass grew back and flowers bloomed about my grave. Then came the worms....
