Run, gnoll, run!

Dragon-Soul  -  Not sure if it changes your move at all, but the second gnoll started last turn next to the now-dead gnoll, but it did not end there.  Soledad scared it with a spell and it now stands 60' away in the middle of the river.  The spell is no longer in effect, but the gnoll is not right next to Hornet and Uthal anymore.

60ft away? I doubt even an elf could hit something 60ft away in the dark. Thanks for telling me, I'm going to edit my post. I'll walk 30ft then take my shot.

60ft is well within bow or crossbow range

@Keeper

Oops lol.

Well, it makes it easier for Thäoran if he's closer. Might increase his chances of hitting the gnoll.

For a long bow 150 ft is considered regular range and 600 ft is long range (but at disadvantage so roll two D20s and use lower number)

For a short bow it is 80 ft and 320 ft

For my heavy crossbow it is 100 ft and 400 ft

I always try to stay at the far edge of regular range when possible.  Hard for the enemy to cover that much ground.

@Keeper

Yeah, it's harder for the enemy to close in, but wouldn't it also be harder to hit the enemy if you're further away from it?

Closer doesn't give any better chance to hit by the game rules.  So any distance from 5 ft to 150 ft has the same chance to hit with a long bow.  It is only when you exceed the regular range distance that you get a penalty to hit.

Oh, I didn't know that. Cheers. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

Post Coming

I am working on the post and will likely get it updated today.

However, I do want to make sure the situation is clear.  The majority of the goblins are simply fleeing and yes, there are women and children amongst them.  But there are also some that are fighting - whether just to cover the retreat or in an attempt to win the battle is unclear, but they are fighting.  This includes the line of goblins just a ways into the water and about 4 more scattered out in the river. (The original vanguard.)  Plus one still on land.  Presumably the gnoll was only running last turn due to the effects of the spell cast by Soledad. So around 11 or 12 goblins appear to still be in the fight as well as a gnoll.

Make that WERE in the fight

That was impressive.  Goblin parts flying every which way.  And at most one of them wasn't holding a weapon for those wondering about that.

Since I am unsure if you are continuing the fight or not and the goblins are all running in different directions there will be no map to start with.  What comes next?  This can be both continued fighting if desired or also what you want to do post battle.

The Twins

Somebody probably needs to reach out to the Twins and reassure them that we have come to rescue them, which also means they could also provide the information for us to find out how they were captured and what they know about their captors and the cave!

Tann's character could also provide some important information, if he is so inclined to share!

Hey, Nomad, is the party taking a break in the cave? I want to perform my weapon bond ritual. It takes an hour, so I thought it would be a good idea to perform it now when we rest in the cave (if we are resting, that is).

Also, how long does the weapon bond last after the ritual is performed?
