Topic: Diabolic Genesis-Origins of Evil
Subject: Seluumiel

Seluumiel stirred from her reverie only moments before Chiron Po came to nudge her awake. Sitting up she regarded the man before her and then moved to overlook their camp. The elf blinked a few times before returning her attentions to the paladin.

"Your turn for watch," he said plainly. "Some unfortunate events occurred earlier tonight. Xavier and Camilly are convinced the would be better off alone, so they let this note and left us."

Seluumiel took the proffered note from Chiron and nodded in agreement as he explained the he and Tenacity had decided to try a search again in the morning. She didn't think they would find any sign of the pair but it would be worth the effort. There were spells she could cast that might help to discern their location but the moon elf was unsure if finding them was a wise course of action. Once Camille had shown up her trust in Xavier had wavered. There was something odd about the man and that oddness had only increased once his sister had shown up. Now the two had run off into the night and that action only cemented her distrust.

Once Chiron had gone to his bed roll the moon priestess unfolded the note and read. It did little to quell her suspicions.

Light of the moon be my guide.

Despite the light of the sun Aya let the prayer rush through her mind over and over. She was Mith'ganni and the pull of the moons were never far from her. Whether the sun shone or clouds covered the night sky Aya always felt the lunar presence. It was in her blood and no matter how far from her people that connection would always be there.

Tragedy had led her to travel far from Mith'ganni lands into a world wholly foreign to her. Now she stood in a strange forest watching a camp of disheveled refugees. Retribution led her now and Aya saw the path to it in the bedraggled encampment. Still she stood and watched hidden in the cover of forest shadow. Although she remembered naught of her life the reclusive nature of her people ran deeper than memory. The thought of stepping into the sunlight and standing among the refugees unnerved her to the core.

Light of the moon be my guide.

Aya took a deep breath and let the words of the prayer echo in her mind. The blood of her people had been spilled and that was a debt that could only be repaid in blood. Stilling herself the Mith'ganni took a step forward and then another and another until she no longer stood in the protective embrace of the forest.

Sunlight shone brighter in the refugee camp illuminating the elf. Thankfully most were too preoccupied with their own problems to notice a lone she elf standing at the thresh hold of the camp. That changed the further Aya moved within. Her people were rare outside of their lands and the elf had little doubt she was the first Mith'ganni most had ever laid eyes on. With the feral grace of a creature of the wild Aya moved through the camp. Her yellow eyes looked into the pathetic faces of the refugees ad she sighed. From the look of it many of these people were barely eating and in some only force of will alone kept them alive. The witch hunts had destroyed many more lives than her own, she did not doubt she would find others who sought to make Mallien's clergy pay.

Absently Aya ran a pale finger along a black crow feather braided into her silver hair. She had worn a crow's feather in memory everyday since she awoke covered in blood. True she might not be able to remember any of the slaughtered when they were alive but she saw the faces of their corpses and the memory of their loss gripped her deeply.

So she moved further into the camp. Somewhere amongst these bedraggled refugees she would find those of like mind. Whether Aya liked it or not she was now one of them.

Light of the moon be my guide.

In a bit of a rush are we?
Who is on the second watch? As I understand Seluumiel is on last watch which is third correct? I think it was Tenacity on 1st and Chiron on 2nd, but I may be wrong there.

Getting close to having the character sheet done and it just dawned on me that the mith'ganni might have different racial specs than the standard elf. Is my hunch right?

The moon elf nodded in agreement at the suggestion to make camp. They needed rest and time to gather their bearings. This place was alien to all.

Moving cautiously Seluumiel made ready for rest. It was odd to look up into the sky and see an unending sun. How could one tell which was night and which was day? She shuddered at the thought and turned instead to what she could wrap her mind around.

When the old guardian passed she had felt something change within her. An awareness and understanding she had not possessed came to her and it was time to use it. Pulling her spellbook from her haversack Seluumiel began to leaf through its pages.

Looking up from her studies Seluumiel addressed the others, "I will take last watch. First I have need of time to study and replenish my magical energies and both require uninterrupted rest."

Took a look at your Season of the Witch Q&A. It seems like you've got a very rich world there, complex and full of intrigue.

The twilight elves are fantastically interesting, I've got a twilight elf druid already taking form in my head. Also have some ideas for a woodland elf illusionist.

I'm not familiar with the 3rd edition, just 3.5. How much do they differ? Are the core books essentially the same? I'll have more questions later but will hold off for now until you get more bites on this thread.

As the bird like creatures flew off into the horizon Seluumiel exhaled deeply and lay a hand on her stomach. The memory of the electric shock still lay with here in a tingling pain. Closing her eyes the moon elf called forth the power of Sehanine Moonbow and soon felt the healing power of the lunar goddess rush through her. Soon strength returned and all physical memory of the pain left her. The fight was over and it was now time to begin healing.

The priestess turned to Tenacity first, "You would have taken the pain of their attacks on yourself and I thank you for that. Allow me to offer you healing."

((OOC: Assuming she accepts))

Reaching up Seluumiel took the human woman's head in her hands and lay a kiss on her forehead. Once again the divine power of the Daughter of the Night Sky filled her, but this time it flowed through her and into Tenacity. In but three breaths the spell was finished. Offering the knight a smile she turned to face the others.

"To each of you I offer healing if you will accept it."

((OOC: Casts Cure Moderate Wounds twice, once on herself and once on Tenacity. Since combat is over I'm assuming this can all be done in one post.))

14 + 3 dex mod = 17

Seluumiel will cast Magic Missile again and target one of the three arrow hawks, whichever is closest.

Since it seems like only Seluumiel and Camille have ranged attacks that reach far enough to hit the arrow hawks I'm going to focus on offensive action and let Chiron handle the healing for now. If anyone gets really low on health or Chiron runs out of healing power then I'll pick up on the healing.

Now question, what is the distance of the birds from us and how close are they together?

Seluumiel looked over the contents of the chest and found she had no use for any of the old guardian's possessions. Already she wore a ring and an amulet, and although she could wield a staff the sword at her hip would prove far more useful.

"I too have no preference about any of this gear," looking up from the chest she continued. "You should all divide it amongst yourselves as you see fit. As for the potions, they appear to be healing potions of some kind. I already have the power to call on Sehanine for healing and I think it best that those of you who cannot work healing magics hold onto the potions. "

The silver haired priestess glided away from the chest to stand at the edge of where the group stood. Peering into the distance Seluumiel studied the landscape, they were far beyond any familiar place. 'Destroy any portals you find in the next world.' The words of the ancient elf echoed over and over in her mind, 'in the next world.' A quiet sigh left the moon elf's lips, they did not even know if they stood on Toril or some other realm, they were truly lost.

A few feet from her Xavier and Camille argued over wearing armor and their familial interchange drew her attention away from the forest. It pained her at times to watch the two, not that she begrudged their reunion but it reminded her too much of her own loss. There would be no reunion for she and her twin sister, Siliveliel was dead. The memory of that loss was still raw and it would pain her for the rest of her living days. Still death was a mystery ruled by the goddess she served and that knowledge did bring her some peace. Siliveliel rested in Sehanine's embrace and whenever she reached for her goddess some part of her sister would be there. A soft smile graced her lips as she continued to watch the pale skinned siblings and sheoffered a prayer to the Seldarine that the two would not know the pain she now lived with.

More numerous of Windows

Of Chambers as the Cedars -
Impregnable of Eye -
And for and Everlasting Roof
The Gambrels of the SKy -

The Sight took hold and in a flash Seluraiiel saw the approach of many illithids and their thralls. Although there was little doubt she and the dwarf could take on the monsters her mind drifted to escape. Now was not the time for a full on assault, for now working from the shadows would be best.

The faery turned her attention to the human thrall. He still stood immobile held in mid stride by her charm and that same charm would give her control of his body. With a thought she twisted the magics that held him and he began to move towards the deeper chamber of the temple. It was a violation to be sure but she did not have the luxury of time to earn his trust and leaving him here was not an option - she had plans for the man yet.

"Gortag my friend," Seluraiiel began, "it is time we make our way out of this temple. The mindflayers are nearly upon us and I think for now it would be best we remain hidden. To the river below."

Her amber eyes moved over the temple chamber one last time before she turned and followed the human into the temple's depths. The underground river would provide their path away, if not she would take both Gortag and the human into the world between the worlds. No illithid would find or follow them there, of that Seluraiiel was certain.

Seluumiel let the paladin stand and move away from her. It was his decision to accept healing or not and Chiron was probably right. They knew nothing of where they were and only healing severe wounds magically would certainly be prudent.

The moon elf stood and joined Chiron and Tenacity. A deep forest and a great mountain were visible in the distant horizon and Seluumiel shivered at the sight of the ominous cloud and its soundless lightning.

"Trees or rain clouds?" Seluumiel repeated the paladin's question. "I think it would be best we begin with the forest, we're more likely to find a safe place to camp there than underneath that cloud."

Seluumiel watched in horror as the bridge fell out from underneath Chiron sending the paladin tumbling into cavern below. There was nothing she could do, no aid she could offer - his life was now in the hands of the gods. Bowing her head the moon priestess offered silent prayers, first to Sehanine Moonbow and then to all the Seldarine.

It seemed this world was not abandoned by the Seldarine for it did not take long for her prayers to be answered. In but a few short breaths Chiron Po appeared hoisting himself up from the edge of the cliff. The moon elf looked up the heavens and offered her thanks to the Seldarine before moving over to where the paladin lay panting.

"That was fun," Chiron said, still trying to catch his breath, "And now that I've done it once, I never ever want to do that again."

He laid there for a moment just staring at the sky, then asked a question in its general direction. "I don't suppose we know where we are, do we?"

Seluumiel knelt down beside him and laid a hand on his shoulder, "There is time enough for that later. For now let me offer you healing."

The orange bearded warrior nodded his tattooed head a couple of times and grunted in reply. "Yes. We need to turn this world upside down… Again."

Gortag nodded again. "Aye. We need to set the humans and the dwarves and the elves free again even if it will be damn hard. However I'm sure more of the leeches will be heading our way very soon, so we'd better get moving. And even if I'd like nothing more than to kill all of the monsters on the way, we may need to hide for a while… and observe and plan. It's something I've never been good at, but I need to learn quick now, won't I?"

The dwarf spoke again grinning maliciously. "But let's make sure we leave a sign for all the nasties out there. A warning of a kind. Just enough to install a spark of fear into the corrupted hearts of theirs. That's all."

A smirk crossed Seluraiiel's lips as she listened to Gortag. If he wanted to lay quiet for a time and work from the shadows that would certainly save her the time of convincing him to do so. In the many years of her long waiting and planning had served the faery well and she had every intention of continuing to do so.

Just as Seluraiiel moved to respond Slayer shot her a look of warning and sprung into action. In but a heartbeat Gortag was standing before a vacant eyed human and in another the human lay unconcious from the quick strike of the dwarf's meaty fist. The silver haired faery narrowed her eyes as she watched the scene unfold. She had little doubt that the thrall was merely a forerunner and soon his masters would be upon them. A sigh escaped the faery's lips as she glided across the temple to stand beside the dwarf. There beside the dwarf Seluraiiel opened herself to the Sight to seek what danger approached.
