Subject: Arhaedielle

Arhaedielle sat on the grassy hill breathing deeply the breeze of the sunlit afternoon. The calm was in the breath. She inhaled again deeply. The three had already traveled far from Bree, every step taking them closer to Altair. Calm deep breathes. The wild predator within longed to be free, held at bay only by the calm. Deep breathes.

She looked to her companions, studying each briefly in turn. Such a trio were they, two elf maidens and a human knight. They knew nothing of one another, and yet here they sat, basking in sunlight as they chattered over nothing. One thing bound them, yet none wished to speak of it. Prophesies and retribution. Arhaedielle sighed quietly, brushing a pale hand through her curly ebony mane as she closed her eyes and drank in the sunny afternoon.

Shouting men pulled her from her meditation, her eyes flashing open as she jumped up with a deadly grace. Clamoring soldiers ran at them, leaving behind them a robed woman. Borghen's men, a low growl emerged from her throat. Treekillers.

Her eyes narrowed and she looked past the charging men to the woman, the gesturing chanting woman. Before the mage's spell could be unleashed the blade of a lagging soldier cut into her and she crumpled to the ground, an expired corpse. Strange, yet there was little time to contemplate this strangeness now. She had spells of her own to throw.

Kneeling to the ground, she touched the earth. Her own rhythms blended with the land, reaching deep into the ground. They were one. The light in her green eyes grew ever brighter as she raised her head to the skies emitting an unearthly, wordless keen.

Ancient roots and vines sprung out from the depths of the land twisting and writhing down the hill. The plants wrapped themselves among the soldiers legs, entwining all they grasped in an immobilizing embrace.

"Thank you my sisters."

Alright, I've finally gotten around to completing the character sheet, just pm'ed it to you. Not a fan of the month of December and all these irritating adult responsibilities.
As for a name, what's our focus/mission? What do we all have in common?
Say, for example, we are all loners/misfits that have drifted together. I might suggest Solace.
I'm not the best at this stuff.

Definitely down with the live in HQ. Just need outdoor space for my Medicine Wheel.
And I vote to not have the permit (I'll live if I'm out voted), I like being politically discordant.

Rage boiled through Amhoset as the drunk grabbed for her arm. Yet she regarded the fool with an unshaking cool, almost looking past him as she moved her arm just out of his reach. It seemed the derelicts would not be persuaded from their lusts. Amhoset looked briefly into their faces, three mothers were going to loose their sons tonight.

Faster than she would have imagined the hulking vampire next to her flashed into action. An explosion of shattering ceramic and swinging limbs smashed into the very legionary that had grabbed for her arm but a moment past. She paused a moment to look at the other Kindred and then turned her attentions to the legionaries. Vitae began to flow through her body, warming her, augmenting her. It was ecstasy. She struck out at the nearest of the other legionaries, swinging her fist into his ribs.

(OOC: Amhoset will spend 1 vitae to increase her strength. She will make an attack roll. Sorry it took me so long to post this.)

Alright, I've downloaded the book, it'll take me some time to get through it and build a complete character. In the mean time I'm thinking a Native American psychic with more of a shamanic/mystical bend. I'll have details to you soon. Oh and yay for adulthood.

Oh the psychological yipididoo we can play with here. I'm definitely interested, though I haven't the foggiest idea of any of the rules (or how to go about procuring them). I have a preference for a more adult/mature situation, though resurrecting my long dead teen angst (my god I'm getting old, where's my walker?) would be amusing to say the least.

Subject: Iananna or Ereshkigal

Amhoset's stare was quickly drawn from the other vampire to three approaching legionaries, inebriated and arrogant. Swaying and slurring they made their lascivious advances. Whore. At the word she nearly exsanguinated the blathering drunk where he stood. She did not, a lifetime of stilling her emotions had its benefits. Her face remained impassive as she returned their stares with an apathetic gaze.

She felt the other Kindred's approach, and turned her head slightly to face the hulking man. His massive frame dwarfed her lithe body, she had to look up to see his face. In many ways the Kindred were magnifications of what they had been in life. The man next to her was tattooed, rough, and cold, every bit the soldier. And yet here he stood, next to her facing down three lecherous soldiers. What had he been? Did it matter? A soldier did not stand beside a priestess, but rather a dead warrior stood beside a vampiric witch. The Embrace magnified, twisted and darkened their mortal pasts. She looked up to the bearded man and nodded her head slightly in thanks, her dark eyes staring with curiosity.

Amhoset returned her gaze to the legionaries. The trio seemed unphased by the addition of the other vampire. Their lusty perversions bore on. She would have to diffuse the situation. In the Temple of Isis she had grown used to manipulating the political intrigue of Alexandria, but the laws of that world were not the laws here. Her dark eyes stared into the face of the speaker with cool regality.

"Perhaps the affections of three," she paused as she addressed the arrogant men, then continued in the same cool dead tone, "esteemed soldiers of Rome as yourselves would be better appreciated by another. Why not seek the attentions of the brothel? I am sure the courtesans would be most obliged."

(OOC: Amhoset will attempt persuasion on the legionaries. And no worries, it's part of what makes it interesting.)

Subject: O Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt

Rising from the depths of the Necropolis Amhoset emerged into the shadowed alleys of the Roman streets, dark eyes darting about, surveying the arena. Alone. She smiled and made her way slowly from the alleyway to the main streets of the city. The cool breeze of the mediterranean night kissed her copper skin, dancing through her long black hair and rustling the fabric of her fitted white robe. Much time had passed since she could feel the coolness of a breeze. The vampiric embrace had heightened her senses, and yet she felt distant from them. Little of that mattered now, she was what she was.
Amhoset ignored the leering gazes of the few Roman soldiers that littered the streets. Men often leered at her. She possessed an unholy beauty which had become her greatest tool in the hunt, but tonight she hunted more than blood. Information was her prey, and where information was hidden there often was blood.
She made her way to a tavern, it didn't matter which one. The rumors and gossip of the commoners often revealed more truth of the darkness than any dared to realize. Her eyes surveyed the tavern as she walked in, taking in the rough tables and the rushing waitresses. It was then the familiar feeling of feral revulsion came over her, there was another vampire in the room. Biting back a snarl she let her eyes drift to the wirey man and the burly bearded vampire who sat with him.

Arhaedielle reached out a hand to touch the shoulder of Eldarwen, stopping the other woman from parting their company.
"I think we should remain together, it seems the whole town knows we must travel to Altair. Splitting up would not keep any from following our trail and may well create unnecessary complications." She spoke with a soft firmness, her green eyes regarding the other woman for a moment. It seemed they all were tied together, for a time at least. She would not allow them to loose one another now that they had all just been joined.
Removing her own honeyed biscuit from the bag she made her way to the door of the inn. Turning to face the others she smiled and spoke,"Though I do agree departing now would be most prudent. Shall we?" She gestured to the door waiting for Eldarwen and Pyres to follow.

I just read through the Covenant explanations again and what I understood is that the Metaphysical section is meant as guidance for what types of Metaphysical Powers a member of said Covenant is likely to have. Wicce are likely to have Invocations, Seer Powers, or Necromantic Powers and therefore can learn (purchase) abilities associated with those arts. The special abilities details any extras; bonuses to certain rolls, and in the case of the Cabal of the Psyche one free level of strength and art in a chosen Seer Power.
As far as Metaphysical Abilities, each of the Arts have their own separate rules. You have purchase an Invocation (or any other power) in order to be able to do it, but Invocations are not prerequisites for abilities in any of the other Arts.
I hope this helps.

Topic: The Wilting Rose
Subject: Iara De La Cueva, un principio

The woman that called herself Penelope Rosa walked along the LA streets, the heels of her brown cowboy boots clicking on the pavement. She wore slim fitting jeans tucked into her boots and a turquoise tank top. Her long curly black hair fell simply to the small of her back, and a few simple beaded bracelets clicked at her wrists. Plainly attired as she was, she was still far more beautiful that most women. She had once been even more beautiful, she had once been so much more. Fragments of memories remained of her past, so much had been lost.

She turned a corner to the entrance of the night club, Haven. Aptly named she supposed, the Gifted and the supernatural gathered there. An odd thing, once they had held themselves in secret, hiding in the shadows. Though some still did many were more open, so much was different from the world she remembered. She kept herself apart from others with the Gift, fearing one might recognize her for what she was, unlikely but possible. Tonight the Iara would walk among them, dreams had called her to this place. Perhaps she would find another of her kind, maybe even find a key to unlocking memories forgotten.

Iara walked past the crowds of mundanes and stepped into the club. The rhythms of music enveloped her. She sighed, night had once been a time of quiet. So much had changed. Walking through the crowd she took in her surroundings, seeking what had called her here. She would know it when she saw it.

The loud bang of a gunshot rang out over the music, and she turned quickly in its direction ebony curls flying wildly and brown eyes widened. A blonde woman stood holding a gun at a falling man. She watched him fall, and her eyes narrowed as his tainted essence came into her awareness. Mulengro? No, a taint that strong would not have skipped her notice. The woman drew back her attention, there was something familiar about her, something that called her. Was this why she had come here? NO! She never acted directly, never made herself known. She could not become involved, she could not take the risk. But what of the taint? What was it? She could not reveal herself, she could not become involved. Too far from any barriers to hide behind she pressed herself against a shadowed wall as pandemonium ensued around her and waited. But for what?

Arhaedielle looked up at the angelic figure, what once had been an old man. Already the other elf had pledged herself to the fulfillment of the prophesy. Would the others follow in suit? The prophesy was calling for Borghen's death it seemed, and prophesy or no the tree killer had to be eliminated. Her decision was an easy one.
She stepped forward, slowly moving with an languid grace, and extended her left hand out, palm facing upward, a gesture of promise. Turning her head from side to side she regarded each of her companions and then returned her gaze to the colossal angel before her.
She spoke with a soft firmness, "This I swear, the forest will be avenged. Borghen, the tree killer, will be punished. If traveling to Altair will aid in that end then so be it. What must be done will be done."

Emerald eyes widen in rage as the waking human ignores her greeting, the feral cat growling within. Closing her eyes Arhaedielle breathes deeply, visibly calming herself, quieting the wild rage rising within. In but a moment the cool calm returns, holding back the hunger of the panther. She needed the calm, she would lose herself without the calm. Elven eyes open again, the hot emerald rage faded to a cold emerald calm.

She stood in silence watching the human rise with words of bravado, heroes always ran head first and blind. Heroes usually lost their heads. Yet it was not heroic arrogance that made her head shake, but the old proselytizer and his incessant talk of prophesy. Were they to follow blindly at the mere mention of fate?

From the corner of her eye she saw another approach, another elf woman with inquiries about prophesy. Arhaedielle lowered her head slightly greeting the newcomer, then slowly returned her attention to the robed man.

Rising to her full height she locked eyes with the old and spoke "I hear much of prophesy and fate, but very little of what and why. Prophesies are not merely told, they must unfold. I need reasons to believe, reasons more than esoteric poetry and coincidence. I will not walk this path blinded." Emerald eyes stare out at the aging man awaiting his reply.

Arhaedielle watched the portly woman leave, a strange interaction indeed. Strange events it seemed were to be expected. There was too much preparation made for them, too much care and too much notice. She did not quite understand what was unfolding. Prophecies and coincidences were much the same as they unfolded. Was it prophesy and fate's hand, or was it really mere coincidence?
She focused her attention on the now conscious man to her side.
"Welcome back to the waking world," she said cocking her head to the side and smiling. " Introductions are in order, I am called Arhaedielle," she said extending her hands outward, palms facing upward.

Alright, I just emailed you all of the character information, me thinks Iara is a ready.
Iara is a bit of a xenophobe, and spends much of her time working to regain her memories. She would be at the nightclub because of a rumor that another of her kind was going to be there, any others of her kind might have a piece of the key to unlocking her memories.

Arhadielle watched the white robed elder depart their company, narrowed green eyes following him on his way to the city gates. She was in a city again and already beginning to feel the oppression of the stone buildings on the land.

"He said tomorrow is an important day for us... What do you think he meant by that?"

She turned to face the kneeling half elf as he spoke to her, "I suppose we shall find out tomorrow," she replied cooly. It would be another night spent within the choking walls of the city, she had been too long in city walls already and longed for the freedom of the wild. But the tree killers had to die, and if spending nights at inns meant keeping allies then she would, but why did they always have to stink of ale?

Arhaedielle made her way to a table and took a seat. Taking in her surroundings she settled herself as best she could, stay at the inn she would but she did not have to like it.

Subject: Age

I agree with Merideth regarding the Age quality. Iara has Age, and that's just about it for Qualities, couldn't afford much else.
Instead of making a character with age you can create an ageless character by purchasing Essence points. The aging process starts to slow down at 75 Essence, and stops at 200 Essence (I think). By purchasing extra Essence (1 pt = 5 Essence at creation) you can create a character with a longer lifespan, which is probably a characteristic of Sidhe blood.

Subject: Qualities, Drawbacks, and the Sidhe

You can use Drawbacks points in any area (Qualities, Metaphysics,Skills, Attributes). From page 71 of the book:
"For point categories other than Attributes, Drawback points may be added on a one-for-one basis. Purchasing Attribute points using Drawbacks is much more expensive. The cost to raise an Attribute one level is equal to the value of that level. For example, raising an Attribute from 3 to 4 costs 4 Drawback points, from level 4 to 5 costs 5 Drawback points, and so on. Further, the costs are cumulative. Raising one Attribute from 3 to 5 costs 9 Drawback points."

I didn't see any reference to rules for the Sidhe. I would think of what the characteristics of the Sidhe blood are and try to recreate them with some creative use of Qualities. If you give us an idea of what you're thinking maybe we can all put our heads together and come up with a solution.

The elf listened to the old man intently. Prophecies were always written in riddles and she would have to think on it for a time. She did not fully trust this man, she didn't trust any city dwellers really. Regardless he opposed Borghen the tree killer, as long as they shared that goal she would join him, for a time at least.

Speaking softly she nodded to the man, "I have none for now. Lead the way."
