Subject: An agreement perhaps...

Seluumiel stepped out from the armory into the governor's office. She watched the others through a mask of calm serenity, they each wanted to rush in. Then so be it, she would play along for now.

"It would seem that you are all now in agreement," she began in cool musical tones "Very well. We move forward to this phantom house, but heed you all well my words. Phenomena such as these are not spontaneous happenings. They always have a source, an intelligent source. Ere on the side of caution and do not rush in the moment we behold the place before us."

I'm going to have to agree with Ava on this, sorry. The more I've thought about it the more I'm seeing the inter character conflicts here to be problematic rather than interesting.

Necromancers play with dark energy to manipulate the powers of death. They hold the souls of the dead beyond the grave, keeping them from passing. Even if you are using the undead to keep the living alive you are still using the undead. No matter how you look at it a necromancer is a necromancer and I just don't see how a paladin and two good clerics would be able to work with someone that plays with the dead.

Elves in general view the undead as unnatural, regardless of their intent. Followers of Sehanine have an even stronger view. The philosophical differences between the two should make things pretty interesting, a little contention is always a nice and spicy addition.
And that's a bridge we'll cross when you can animate.

Seluumiel will see most any undead as an abomination, save those precious few that prolong their lives to aid their kin (baelnorns).
I'm sure we can figure out a way to make it work.

We've got healers; the drow elf is a cleric and my moon elf is a cleric/diviner (going for mystic theurge).

Being that Seluumiel is a priestess of Sehanine Moonbow we're going to have some conflict. The followers of Sehanine are charged with destroying the undead (with the exception of Baelnorns ect.), as the goddess holds such creatures as blasphemous. Just don't be surprised if Seluumiel attacks your minions (not trying to dissuade you, by the way).

This is going to be very interesting...

Subject: The eye of the storm

Pulling Thunderclap to a halt Soronuume's amber eyes widen as she takes in the sight of a red dragon ravaging a tree. She would have tried to reason with the beast, but the sight of its violence to the land steeled her for what must be done.

The green elf shook her head and let out an unearthly scream of rage, the land would be avenged. Raising her head to look to the skies Soronuume opened herself to the power of the wild skies, the power of the storm. As the skies vibrated with rage so did she. The vibration intensified, growing in power, she held on until she could no longer. A loud crack and brilliant flash of light heralded the bolt of lightning pulled from the heavens streaking towards the dragon. As the thunder roared in the aftermath Sorunuume began to gather power again, and she vibrated with the power of the storm.

(OOC: Casts Call Lightning Storm: 5 mp Bolt 1 of 15, aiming to hit only the dragon)

Seluumiel looked from Lacey to Chiron. She agreed with the human, it would be wise to gather more information on the phantom house before rushing in. Yet Lacey wanted to do just that. The moon elf sighed. She commended the other woman's desire to help, but it would be beyond foolish to throw their lives away and walking in blindly would do just that.

"It would be imprudent at best to rush into this blindly," Seluumiel's cool voice hardened with each word "If you wish to walk as a blind fool then I shall make preparations to perform your funerary rites. All of us wish to save the child, but four corpses will do no good for anyone. I agree with Chiron, we need to gather information before we rush in. We do not yet know what we are dealing with."

Seluumiel looked up to Chiron, Lacey, and Xavier; they were four strangers. She hoped they could trust one another.

"It would seem that each of us has selected what we need," the elf stepped forward addressing the others "Unless there is a need for something else I suggest that we discuss a plan and make haste to the site of the disturbance." She looked at each in turn waiting for a response.

Ava, I think it would be amazing RP to have a drow priestess try to convert an elven priestess. just sayin'

Subject: The armory and a stone

Seluumiel follows the group keeping silent. She could understand Xavier's concerns, she could understand his pain. Family and loss, she knew them both all too well. Precious little time had passed since she knelt at her sister's lifeless body. Following her death she had sought comfort in ecclesiastic practices, using communion with the Lady of Dreams to deaden the pain. Yet now she stood far from Sehanine's temple and its calming embrace. Sehanine tessaya lle seler'amin Seluumiel whispered the silent prayer and closed her eyes for a moment before returning to the matters at hand.

She followed Bailash and the others into a small hidden chamber, the armory. Her eyes ran over the milieu of weaponry and armor finally resting on a small azure stone. Picking up the small stone she peers into its smooth blue surface. Seluumiel closes her hand around the stone, closing her eyes in concentration she attunes herself to its subtle rhythms. After a moment she opens her hand and the stone flies into the air taking orbit around her head.

"It is a most impressive collection," the moon elf agreed, "We are much obliged."

Introductions and conversations are interrupted as a hysterical red blur flies into the fray.

"BRIANNA! Brianna, come quick. Nasty red dragon tried to eat my Precious. Bad Dragon. Precious is hurt. Hurry. I can't puff any more. Please hurry, bring black lady. Bring weapons, magic, healer, more weapons, and hurry."

The companions sprung into action climbing onto horses following the dragon whelp to the red dragon. Soronuume stood and pursed her lips. She looked down to Xu before mounting Thunderclap, hoping the cat did not follow. Xu was formidable in her own right, but should the situation escalate violently the panther was no match for a dragon. She looked to the cat once more before following the others.

Seluumiel picked up the crystal flute of wine and lifts to her lips. It was not bad for human wine, at the very least the man had a sense of civility. She watched the man carefully as he recounted the tales of dancing lights and walking dead. Phenomena such as he described did not happen spontaneously, finding the source would be the key. The elf did not speak her mind yet, but rather sat back to observe.

Watching the others she sat back in her chair and took a sip of wine. They were an eclectic collection of companions. There was a strangeness to the half elf woman, Lacey. She spoke an antiquated style of the common tongue and claimed to be servant of Eilistraee. Few other than the drow worshiped the Dark Maiden, but the dark ladies were a goodly lot and dedicated themselves to the preservation of peace and life more so than the followers of most gods. She glanced to the warriors; one a man in simple armor and the other a grizzled half orc. The orc man would have to be watched lest he fall into the traditions of his brethren, but it was the pale skinned red eyed man that drew her gaze. The others were what they were, but it seemed he held much in secret. His outbursts only furthered her resolve to pay close attention to him.

"It would seem that introductions are in order," the moon elf addressed the group in a melodious cool voice. Standing she continued "I am Seluumiel Ithil'Luume, I offer what services I can to this expedition."

The elf glided across the room to stand by Bailash Castor. "Perhaps we should see what you're armory has to offer, shall we?"

Soronuume threw back her head and laughed. She placed a hand on the tan dark haired man's shoulder, "No need to worry, I may speak with an accent but I am quite fluent in the common tongue," she said mirthfully and then turned her attention to the tall flame haired woman. "I thank you for your hospitality and will gladly join you for a respite of conversation, but do not waste your food I have already had my morning meal."

The wild elf sat beneath a tree and rested her back on its trunk. Xu made her way over Soronuume and lay down. The cat much preferred to sleep during the day.

"Xu certainly hunts for herself," the elf replied "She is her own being." She pauses for a moment and looks to the other woman "I do not believe I know your names."

Subject: Seluumiel Ithil'Luume

Seluumiel Ithil'Luume sat on the floor of the temple, its stone surface cool to the touch. Moonlight poured through an opening in the roof. Bathed in moonlight her silver hair and pale blue white skin seemed to glow. Her sapphire eyes stared at a small silver vessel at her feet for a moment before focusing on something in the distance. The moon elf whispered an esoteric word and flicked her fingers at the vessel. A spark cracked inside and a fragrant white smoke poured from holes along the silver surface as the dried plants and flowers it held began to burn. Seluumiel breathed deeply relaxing her body and stilling her mind. Watching the swirling smoke dance with the pale moonlight pulled her awareness from the here and now. She asked Sehanine Moonbow for guidance and visions of constellations and moonlight swallowed her. Time twisted around her as she followed the rhythm of the trance and the elf delved wholly into the vision.

"My Lady?" a soft youthful voice and a gentle touch on her shoulder roused her from the reverie. Seluumiel turned to face the wide eyed temple acolyte that rested a hand on her shoulder. The girl's eyes widened as they fell on the silver mark on her forehead, a full moon topped by a crescent-shaped haze. She smiled at the acolyte. The girl was young, perhaps no older than fifty years.

"What is it my child?" she addressed the girl in cool melodious voice.

"A man is here for you Lady Seluumiel, a human from Leaphaven." The elf woman narrowed her eyes. What possibly could a human from a far off town want of her?

"Send him in child,"Seluumiel said softly. The young moon elf nodded and made her way out of the temple to bring the courier. Seluumiel stood waving a hand and the white smoke extinguished within the silver vessel. She wore a diaphanous silvery white gown, the skirts fell just below her knees and were split at her hips exposing her legs covered in pale grey leggings tucked into dark grey boots. The moon elf made her way to the temple entrance to meet a copper skinned courier.

"Welcome to Evereska," Seluumiel greeted the man in the common tongue as she took the letter he offered. She broke the wax seal and pulled out the enclosed letter. Sapphire eyes traced the letter's words several times before glancing up at the copper skinned human. A strange thing indeed the letter was. She had arrived in Faerun not even a year ago. With the exception of the brief journey to the ruins of Cormanthyr she had spent the entire time in this very Evereskan temple. It was odd that any in Faerun outside the moon elf city would know of her, odder still that they would send her a summons for aid. She would go with the courier to Leaphaven, at the very least to unravel this curiosity.

"If you will wait here for a moment," she addressed the courier. Not waiting for a response she turned and picked up the silver vessel before disappearing behind a gossamer curtain. Seluumiel walked through the temple hallways to the small private chambers she had been afforded. As a priestess of Sehanine Moonbow she had been offered shelter in the Evereskan temple to the goddess for as long as she remained in the city. Reaching the ascetic chambers she sat and quickly wrote a letter of gratitude to the keepers of the temple. Leaving the letter on the table with the silver vessel Seluumiel gathered her few possessions and donned a white traveling cloak.

She made her way back through the temple to the waiting courier. Walking past him she exited the temple. The young acolyte waited at the entrance and Seluumiel nodded her head to the girl mouthing 'May the Lady of Dreams light your path.' She turned to face the human courier that now followed out of the temple and she smiled at him.

"Shall we be off my friend?" she inquired of the young man as he reached her side. He let out a quiet sigh of irritation before nodding and taking her hand. As the courier whispered a string of arcane words magic swirled around the pair and Evereska disappeared from view.

The green elf fingered a lock of chestnut hair as she approached the group of travelers. As she neared the encampment the figures of humans and elves became clear. Her amber eyes fell on the lone dark elf and she studied the ebony skinned woman. Soronuume grasped the hilt of her blade instinctually as she recalled meeting followers of Lolth. Yet just as she had faced drow as enemies, she had worked with them as friends as well. She glanced at the elves in the party and released the blade hilt. Evil humans might work with a follower of Lolth, but it was impossible that any of the People would travel with a devotee of the Spider Queen.

The dark elf addressed her first. She spoke in elvish and identified herself as a follower of Eilistraee. Soronuume smirked at the other woman's mention of the dangers of the forest and heard the inquiry behind her words. The others of the party noticed her approach and greeted her in turn, both in elvish and common.

"Greetings dark sister," speaking elvish in a melodious voice Soronuume responded to the drow,"May the blessings of the Seldarine light your path." Turning her attention to the rest of the party she spread out her hands, palms facing upwards in the elven gesture of greeting and respect. Addressing the group as a whole Soronuume spoke in the common tongue accented with the lilting tones of the forest people,"Greetings and well met. I am Soronuume Selu Elmare. The panther is Xu, her name means 'Silence in the Night.' Do not worry for your horses, she does not like horse meat. The mare is Thunderclap, she has been aptly named."

The wild elf took a step forward. With bright amber eyes she gazed at each in turn. They did not seem to have any malice for the land, just a band of travelers who had stopped for a nights rest before continuing on their journey.

Subject: Enter Soronuume

Soronuume Selu Elmare drank in the morning sunlight as she effortlessly made her way through the wild grasses. The wild elf was more at home wandering the untamed landscape than the urban settlements that littered the land. Like most green elves she was exotic, possessing an untamed beauty only found in the wild. Bright almond shaped amber eyes peered out from smooth greenish cooper skin and a mane of thick chestnut curls fell to her mid back. The elf wore a seemingly delicate armor made from dried forest leaves and simple grey leggings tucked into dark brown boots.

Soronuume looked to the black panther that moved silently at her side. She was called Xu, and the pair had been together for some time. Xu had saved her life during the war that held at bay the rising tide of humans threatening to overtake the Forest of Tethir. Since that day panther and elf had looked out for one another each protecting the other in turn. For months at a time Xu had been her only companion. The nickering of a horse pulled her attention and Soronuume tuned to lead the grulla mare forward. She rarely rode the horse, but it was necessary at times. The mare bore a wild streak and if Soronuume was going to saddle and ride the creature she would have it no other way.

In the distance Soronuume could make out the movement and what appeared to be a campsite amid a cluster of trees. Leading the panther and horse she moved forward. As she neared the campsite she made no attempt to hide her coming. Attempts at subterfuge would be interpreted as hostility, and she had no desire for confrontation. However there were strangers in the wild and that required investigation.

Selunine stared into the crystal surface of the scrying shard and as the familiar feel of magic flowed through her into the shard a vision of Badon came into view within its facets. The enchantress watched as a scene of carnage unfolded before her. Corpses were littered across the smoke filled streets and through the black clouds the figure of an old man emerges. She watches as he bends down to a group of corpes and then another, and another until he moves out of her vision. After a moment of stillness the corpses rise and rip the flesh from their bones before they rush toward something out of her view. Selunine shuts her eyes for a moment and shakes her head slightly. Corpses rising in death heralded but one thing, necromancy. The elf hissed harshly at the thought the the loathsome black arts. This mortal world was truly tainted, but she had come here to save it not condemn it.

She returned the shard to a belt pocket and turned to face Trillion and the driver for a moment. "The city of Badon has been annihilated," Selunine spoke in a cool tone devoid of emotion, "The streets lie covered in smoke and an old man has brought the corpses to life. Animated death stalks the city streets. It is doubtful that any have survived, but the dead cannot be allowed to wander." She turned from them and stared at the distant rising smoke. The dead would have to be stopped.

Selunine awakens from her meditative reverie some time before dawn. The events of the past few days reeling through her head. She had not been gone long from the Misty Isle, but already events were stirring. Pulling the orb found at the shipwreck out from one her belt pockets she studied its smooth surface for a time. Perhaps in her hand she held the key to returning to her homeland. In time she would discover its secrets, but for now she would focus on the road ahead.

Selunine returned the orb to the safety of a hidden pocket in her belt. Following the thievery of the previous night and the near loss of her spellbook she had moved all of her possessions in the security of the magical pockets hidden in her belt, pockets that could only be opened with a word only she knew. Selunine looked up into the starlit nights sky and went over again the past night. There was a strangeness to that small town, something was not right there. Another mind had possessed the innkeepers mind that night. When she had peered into the then thief's mind the unknown mind not only noticed her presence, but expelled her and ripped the spells magic from her. Whatever the other mind had been it was very powerful, she was an Aos Si wizard and it still managed to overpower her. Had she not still been reeling from the attack when they left she would have remained to investigate. She was grateful for Trillion's help, she was beginning to trust her.

As the first light of dawn trickled into the sky a searing light exploded in the sky above the city of Badon. Selunine jumped to her feet as flames erupt over the city and the surrounding countryside. The port city was under attack. Turning from the rising smoke her violet eyes sought out Trillion as she pulled the crystal scrying shard from her belt.

Selunine looked at Trillion for a moment as she picked up her spell book. The fey elf traced a hand along the book before opening it. Her eyes traced the eldritch runes as she flipped through the parchment pages. She had almost lost everything, and that she would not allow. Whispering an inaudible arcane word she placed the spell book into one of the many secret pockets hidden in her belt. Gathering her remaining stolen belongings she returned the shard and potions to one of the other belt pockets. Her eyes fell on the small woman that lay on one of the beds. Part of her burned with rage at the violation, but the icy calm remained. Selunine returned her gaze to Trillion.

"If the girl is nothing more than a thief she can be dealt with easily," Selunine addressed Trillion while keeping her eyes on the woman in the bed. "However there is a strangeness to this hamlet, and things may not be what they seem. Let us see what information can be gleaned, shall we?" Focusing her attention on the little thief the enchantress wove a new charm. Arcane words left her lips and her lithe hands deftly traced the gestures as the inner light of her eyes once again shone brighter.

Turning her glowing violet gaze to Trillion, Selunine speaks again, "If she wakes restrain her." The elf returned her gaze to girl on the bed and kneeled before her peering into the face of the sleeping thief.
