Subject: Soronuume

The scene of flaming buildings and screaming villagers filled Soronuume's eyes as she rode Thunderclap. She hissed violently as her gaze fell on the marauding orcs that teemed through the village. The elf hated orcs, and so did Xu. Seeing a lone orc nearby the panther leapt forward jumping to attack with a violent roar. Claws and teeth bared Xu descended on the creature and struck first with her razor claws all the while her jaws open seeking the orcs throat.

Soronuume watched her companion run off into the fray, a pang of worry running through her. She quieted it quickly, Xu could take care of herself and the druid had magics to heal her friend should any orc's blade find flesh. The druid spared a glance for the forest behind her checking for any sign of flames in the wood. Satisfied the forest was safe for now Soronuume returned her amber gaze to the orcs and the village.

Seeing a small cluster of orcs in the distance she gritted her teeth and raised her hands to the skies. Her voice rose into the air echoing with fury as she called forth the power of the storm. The unseen wild magics of the land flowed through her body and spun up into the clouds above. With a final scream the druid finished her spell. A thunderous roar exploded in the sky as a blue white bolt of lightning cracked down from the roiling clouds above into the orcs below. Rocks and dirt shot into the air where the bolt stuck and Soronuume raised her hands again ready to call forth another bolt of lightning.

((OOC: Casts Call Lightning Storm. The first bolt is targeted at wherever there is a cluster of orcs (excluding the 10 that Brianna, her horse, and Flame are engaged with). I know there are about 2 dozen so I am assuming there is another group of them somewhere in few, she is targeting whichever group is the largest. If there is no other group of orcs Soronuume will instead target the largest/dangerous orc she can find. If any orcs other than the one Xu attacked are rushing to attacked the panther Soronuume will direct the lightning at them instead.))

Subject: Into the alley we go...

Penelope walked through the streets of old town with the strange child immortal. With some effort the siren ignored the stares of those they passed. She was used to stares of awe and desire, not the looks of confusion and fear that were in the eyes of all they passed. There was little doubt their passing would be remembered, and that worried her.

She watched Alice closely. The girl seemed intent on finding her friend, peering this way and that with an intensity no child possessed. Yet she felt pity for the girl. There was still the air of innocence about her and something in the ancient siren stirred. Long ago Penelope had borne a child, a daughter that she had never known. Pain from centuries past returned to her and she looked down at Alice. Was the girl some redemption for the daughter she had lost?

Alice looked up at her smiling and Penelope returned the smile with a maternal warmth. The pair continued down the streets before Alice stopped and glanced toward an alleyway.

"I wonder if she's just playing hide and seek..." the tainted child mused as she gazed more intently into the alley.

"I should look everywhere, shouldn't I?" Alice asked as she looked up to her.

Penelope smiled and nodded. That could prove a dangerous action, there was no telling what hid in the alley and what reaction Alice would have to it.

She saw little alternative to searching the alley and so Penelope answered, "If you think that is best, then yes. We just have to be very careful."

"Greetings," Seluumiel addressed the man, "I am Seluumiel Ithil'Luume, moon priestess of Sehanine Moonbow. I am joined by my companions, Chiron Po, Xavier von Richter, and Tenacity Valence."

Her divination had led her true, beyond the door lay not the orcs and ogres but an ancient elven wizard. Seluumiel studied him for a time. The man was far older than any she had seen, the signs of age marked him in a way that even non-elven eyes could see. Even the most ancient women of her order were not as old as he.

The moon elf took a step toward the ancient elf and spread her arms open, palms facing upward in the elven sign of greeting. She bowed her head slightly in respect before meeting his eyes.

"Vedui," Seluumiel addressed the man, "Amin na'aya Seluumiel Ithil'Luume, ithil'amandil en' Sehanine Moonbow. Amin na'aya yanwe ed'amin mellonim, Chiron Po, Xavier von Richter, ar' Tenacity Valence."

The old man looked at her with knowing eyes, as if he had known them already and had been expecting them. Strangely this did not seem out of place, she simply nodded and continued.

"Lye nelde caelaya tule sina yamen' ma'aya kwar n'alaquel rim'ksh ar' sii'utuaya lye oblete yassene. Amin leneemaya lle o'iant, nyaraya lye mani lle sintaya."

After smilingly describing her friend the child immortal looked up to Penelope and took her hand, "By the way... my name's Alice," the girl said, all the while her smile never faded.

At the moment the tainted child's hand touched her skin the oily sick sensation intensified, threatening to overtake the Iberian siren. Her stomach twisted and in that moment Penelope near lost herself. Closing her eyes she took several deep breathes and began to channel, it was only a trickle of essence but it's life giving power coursed through her body keeping the taint wrought sickness at bay. Only then did Penelope look down at Alice.

"Alice," she said, "such a pretty name."

The siren smiled at the girl and out of the corner of her eye she saw Smoke's tail twitch as the bast swaggered off towards Alexander. The cat's cooperation put her mind at ease, allowing her to focus on the task at hand.

Turning her full attention to Alice she continued in a soothing voice, "You must call me Penelope, now let's see about finding your friend."

With that she began to lead the tainted child away from the house, Alexander, and his two friends. Smoke's telepathic well wishes echoed in her mind as she walked with Alice.

Just want to clarify a few things on the game post - I'm really not sure if we're all seeing this or this is just an introduction of a new character who will find our party later on.

Is this the area where the fire is? If so, is the village on fire? Is any of the forest aflame? As to the orcs, are any of them huddled together or are the all spread out?

Seluumiel opened her mind to the divination and in a few short breathes the awareness of other minds came to her. Myriad minds danced along the surface of her awareness and Seluumiel paid heed to each. The familiar draconic malevolence was no longer hidden within the house, in its place an older more benevolent being lay somewhere within the phantom edifice. Her mind raced at this. Some spectral presence had tried to warn them of this place. Could it be the very presence her spell now revealed? It was a thought to ponder later, the violent thoughts of orcs and ogres lay just beyond the doors.

Though violent and prevalent Seluumiel could not fully grasp the barbaric thoughts, each mind was muffled. Just as she could concretely feel the minds they would shift their location leaving her with the need to begin prying all over again. The moon priestess narrowed her eyes and heightened her focus on the bestial minds that lay behind one of the doors. Soon a pattern began to emerge and the moon priestess found herself able to predict where the presences would be.

Seluumiel closed her eyes and cocked her head to the side studying the pattern for a moment. She then faced her companions and mouthed "orcs and ogres." In a fluid motion she moved to the door closest to the left wall, counted to twelve, and opened the door.

Soronuume nodded in agreement with Devon's call to remain hidden. More often than not fires came into being through mishap, accident, and happenstance. Even so, she had seen enough fires caused by adversary and fully saw the wisdom in Devon's words. As all made ready to depart and Lorae motioned herself northward the wood elf rode to the center of the group.

The druid called out to her companions, "Stay close to me my friends, Devon speaks truth and I will make it so."

With that Soronuume began to focus her mind, letting the magics of the wild flow through her. Unlike Devon she could not wrap herself in a cloak of invisibility, but she could make herself and those around her blend into the landscape. It was a simple trick that any child of the wilderness learned sooner or later. With the utterance of a final word of power Soronuume and her mount began to shift in color. As the wood elf and her mount began to blend into their surroundings so too did her companions.

"It is just a simple glamer," Soronuume called out, "stay close to me until we reach the flames lest the spell break."

At the sound of Flame's shrill warnings of fire Soronuume cocked her head to the side and sniffed. Sure enough the pungent smell of smoke filled the air. With a sharp his the wood elf looked upward searching the skies for some sign of the conflagration.

Even as her eyes focused on the skies she could hear her companions discuss whether to investigate or not. She could help but sniff at the growing concern over people being hurt, not even one of them mentioned the forest and the wild creatures that lived within - her concern was the forest. Soronuume had already set her mind on investigating the source of the fire and she would see that the forest survived, if there were people in need of aid she would offer only after she knew the land to be safe. The wood elf did not speak of this, her actions would show when the time came.

After listening to a few more moments of deliberation Soronuume heard her companions reach their decision, they would investigate the flames.

With a glance to each of her companions the wood elf spoke out in a soft but sure voice, "Let us discuss this no further, only by journeying onward will we be able to know what to do. We must go northward to the flames, and we must go now"

The girl giggled, as one would giggle if they knew where the cookie jar was hidden. "But I'll be alright... I know some people are mean... but all I have to do is tell them to go away like my mom said... I tell them to go away, and they go away... well, they fall down anyway... but they don't hurt me anymore."

At this Penelope cocked her head to the side. I tell them to go away, and they go away... well, they fall down anyway... What did the girl mean by that? She had met human immortals before, they had power but none that she had ever known had magic. Something of their very nature kept them from it. Whatever magic this girl possessed it was born of the taint and nothing good could be born of that. This child immortal seemed truly innocent, perhaps she did not even know what she did. That made her all the more dangerous.

With thoughts Penelope reached out to Smoke, Get Alex out of here. We don't know what the girl can do, she might kill him without even realizing it. I'll try and do what I can, but I need you both to go inside... now.

Alice smiled brightly, without a care in the world, before suddenly she stopped, as a thought struck her, "Oh, but you can come with me... I could use some help, and I trust you... I'm looking for my friend..."

Her eyes widened slightly, very much as the pleading young girl she was, "Will you help me? Please? I don't know where Jen is..."

The siren smiled and reached out a hand to brush the girl's cheek. Once again the oily sensation of taint washed over her, threatening to consume her with sickness. Penelope supressed the feeling and held her smile.

"I'm sorry little one," the siren began in the same soothing voice, "I do not think I know your friend."

Penelope stood up next to the girl and offered her a hand, "Let's go for a walk, you can tell me all about your friend and maybe we can find her."

Soronuume nodded to Lorae, the birth of a new day was always a wonderful thing. Despite that wonder the cat woman Moraglin seemed irritated. She had met her kind before, those who felt the comforts and niceties of urban life were necessities and not mere luxuries. The golden skinned elves of Evermeet could give this woman lessons in haughtiness, and Soronuume had taken great pleasure in teasing their pride.

The wood elf reached into one of the magical pouches hidden throughout her belt to produce an apple. With a casual gesture she tossed the red skinned fruit to the cat woman.

Smiling she spoke with a playful music in her voice, "There is breakfast for you if you require."

Subject: ACK! We're stuck!

As the last words left Seluumiel's lips the thud of a door slamming shut echoed through the room. The moon elf quickly spun around only to see the door disappear. Bowing her head the priestess laid a hand on the wall where the door had once been. They were trapped.

All her fears had been confirmed, they entered this place knowing far too little and now they were trapped. It was up to the house itself to keep them within its walls or to release them. And what of what lurked deeper with the building?

Seluumiel let out a soft calming breath, then closed her eyes and whispered a silent prayer to Sehanine Moonbow. Panic would do them little good and would surely tarnish the dignity of a full priestess of the lunar goddess of mysteries. They were here to do a job, and there was little for them to do but carry on.

At Chiron's question the moon elf turned to face her companions. She nodded in silence. It seemed at least one of them had the steel to see this through. Cocking her head the elf watched the paladin with a curious light in her eyes. The man was stubborn to the core, and it had been his stubbornness that had ultimately led to the departure of Ardulace. Perhaps that very stubbornness would serve them now. Seluumiel was not often one to follow where others led, but for a time she would the human be the foundation.

Seluumiel caught the paladin's eye and with calm returning to her voice addressed him, "True we must carry on, but perhaps before we open doors a little magic can shed light on what might lurk beyond them."

The elf did not wait for a response. With graceful gestures and esoteric words she summoned the magics that flowed through her elven veins and cast her spell opening her mind to what might lay beyond.

Seluumiel moved along with her companions as they each, one by one, entered again the phantom house. Raising a pale hand to the doorway she touched a hand to a wall as if to remember their narrow escape the last time they entered this place.

Once inside the moon elf faced her human companions with intense sapphire eyes before addressing them all, "I do not believe that there are specters out hunting us. When I cast my divination a cacophony of voices spoke a warning into my mind. 'Beware and take heed, you will be lost and afraid!' I believe whatever spoke to me and whatever rushed at Xavier is trying to warn us of this house."
