Subject: Gifts of the Fey

The magical tempest raged through Selunine as she faced the oncoming skeletons. Though charred and blacked they still moved towards her. She looked up to the skies searching for any sign of Trillion and the stranger on the pillar, there was none. Selunine sighed, hoping her spell had bought the other woman enough time to do what needed to be done.

Selunine returned her gaze to the approaching skeletons. She was out of the reach of their claws but they would make it to her soon enough. The magic raging through her now was more than enough to destroy them all, but she dare not unleash any great power of destruction now lest she attract the attention of all the undead. She released the tempest of power and smiled. A trickle of magic remained, it was an innate part of her embedded into every fiber of her being. With the innate fey magic that flowed through her veins Selunine reached out into the air. Her mind called out to the winds and the skies, they answered.

The air began to thicken before her in a swirling vortex. Grayish white clouds took form within the rushing air growing larger and larger until a great gaseous form towered over the fey and the skeletons. The great cloud roared with the low rumble of thunder and wailing screech of a tornado as it descended on the approaching skeletons.

Selunine watched as the elemental spun towards the skeletons and her violet eyes began to glow again with magic.

Seluumiel rested her hand against a tree trunk as she watched the strange house wax and wane. It stood ominously silent before them. The moon elf narrowed her eyes, a dangerous curiosity lay before them. From the corner of her eye she noticed Lacey stir.

"Come," the half elf began, "Let us see what the far side holds."

Seluumiel nodded, the suggestion made sound sense. She looked back to the two men silently before turning to follow the other woman.

Selunine watched as Trillion blinked out of sight and nodded. It was time to deal with the skeletons. Violet eyes glowing brightly and arcane power pouring through her she glared at the undead masses. Focusing the arcane tempest she began to chant and gesture esoterically. With a flurry of gestures and keening wail she threw her hands forward.

Crack. A brilliant blue white bolt of lightning flashed streaking from her fingertips into the nearest skeleton. Crack. The electric bolt jumped from the first skeleton to the next and continued streaking through the animated corpses.

Selunine dropped her hands to her sides as thunder roared in the aftermath. Never taking her eyes from the skeletons she readied her next spell.

Ula stood at the tavern entrance surveying the common room. Water dripped from her still wet body gathering in a puddle on the aged wood floor. Patrons and barmaids filled the low lit room. She wrinkled her nose at the scent of ale. A wizened black robed man caught her attention as he waved her over to his table. Cocking her head to the side Ula focused her attention on the man and his two companions. He sat with a honey haired elf maid and a large man covered in glinting red scales; a strange trio indeed. Curiosity pulled her to the three. Ignoring the stares Ula moved through the crowded room to the black robed man and his companions.

Reaching the table the fey stopped and gazed at each of the three companions in turn; the robed man, the scaled man, and the standing elf woman. She caressed the worn top of a wooden chair and continued to study the three. Each was unlikely company for the other, and they had sought her attention as well.

"Excuse me m-m-m'lady," the squeak of a serving girl interrupted Ula's focus,"c-c-can I get you sumthin?"

Ula smiled at the mouse haired girl and addressed her in cool musical tones"Thank you child. I will have tea and fresh fruit."

As the girl nodded and ran off to the kitchens Ula took her place at the table. She motioned for the elf woman to sit and she returned her silent gaze to the companions. Only fools and those of great power sought the attentions of the fey folk. Legend told that once caught faeries had to grant their captors one wish. The truth was not far from the legend, but the fey were capricious by nature and many soon learned to be careful what they wished for. These three had sought her attention and now had it.

"Greeting strangers,"

Subject: Ula Siddha: The Old One Cometh

The summer skies stormed with wind and rain tossing the branches and leaves of the forest below. Yet Ula Siddha moved calmly through the Felwood trees, little rain passed beneath the leafy canopy and the tropical winds of her jungle home were far more severe than those tonight. It had been some time since she had left the rain forests in the tropics. Most of the jungle fey had long since left this world, drawn forever into the unknown mysteries that lay beyond the world of dreams. New only a precious few remained and as more faded from the land the call of the dream grew only stronger. Her people were in their twilight, would they soon fade away into the coming night?

Ula had lived for many ages and she felt the call of the dream strongly within her being. Fearing that her next step into the dream world would hold her there forever she left the ancient jungle lands for the lands of men. The call of the dream lessened away from the jungle home, everything lessened away from the home. Yet here she was and before she wandered into the dream and faded into the night she would see something more of this world.

The faery made her way through the labyrinth of branches, every step took her closer to the human village that lay beyond the forest. She could not understand why she was so drawn to mortal settlements. Men were intoxicated with fear and awe by the wild fey. Ula had seen what fear did to men. Touching her shoulder she shuttered at the memory. Cold forged iron had pierced her flesh there and left a wound that no amount of magic could heal. Her body had to heal the wound itself, and even now after the scar had faded she still held the phantom memory of that wound. Blinded by the fear of the unknown a man had attacked her on sight. Only a body remained of him now for after his iron blade cut she had shown him the power of a faery's kiss.

Reaching the forest edge Ula jumped down from the tree silently landing on the forest floor. The occasional flash of lightning illuminated her figure. She stood tall and slender, an all too beautiful woman alone in the darkness. Smooth copper skin glistened from the rain's moisture and her long thick black hair spun itself in ringlets. Her almond shaped eyes glowed faintly with incandescent light shifting in color from greens and blues to violets and brilliant silvers. She wore brown colored gossamer, the simple gown clung to her and split at the hips falling to her knees with dark brown leggings tucked into soft tan boot. Ula took a step toward the village, it would have been pragmatic to take another form but she was hardly in a mood to be anything other than herself. If any hostilities showed she could weave a charm so potent that any fool who dared attack her would be lucky to remember their name let alone the sight of the faery.

Running a hand through her damp hair Ula made her way into the human village. A few stared wide eyed in her direction but for the most part she moved unhampered. Nearing an inn she moved closer, inns always fascinated her and she was hungry - the Felwood had yielded little fresh fruits. The fey made her way to the entrance. Pushing the door open she stepped into the common room. The sights, smells, and sounds of the space overtook her and her incandescent eyes began searching the room for a space to quietly take it all in.

Subject: Ula Siddha

Here's my character per Fletch - hope to have a post up soon.

Name: Ula Siddha - The Old One
Race: Fey
Class: Sorcerer/Druid

Deep within the wild jungles dwell the ancient Uira, the fey people of the rain forest. Not fully of this world nor the next the Uira move freely between the mortal world and the dream world, the world between the worlds. The faeries possess an exotic grace and beauty; copper skinned with dark hair and color shifting eyes that glow with an inner light. Like all fey peoples they have a terrible fear of cold forged iron, and will descend with fury on any they know possessing the dreaded metal. Ageless and timeless they live long, longer than perhaps even dragons. Born of magic they are deeply connected to the land. Though magical and timeless they may be, few remain in this world as over the ages many stepped into the world of dreams never to return. Isolated in the depths of the wilds of the jungles they have been forgotten and have slowly began to fade from the world of men.

Of the jungle faeries that remain Ula Siddha, the old one, still walks the mortal world. Magic flows through the veins of the fey, and this could not be more true than in Ula. She spins gossamer charms and illusions with unmatched ease, and calls to the winds and rains. Ula is ageless and beautiful with smooth copper skin, long dark hair, and almond shaped color shifting eyes that glow faintly. Since leaving the jungle for the lands of the north she has learned to hide her lineage at times, for any who capture a faery can demand a wish be granted. Ula often takes the form of an old crone named Maeve or a golden haired human maiden named Sara.

Seluumiel makes her way from the city toward the woods following the other three. She would have to ensure that the youthful impulsivity of the others did not cost them their lives.

"Lacey is correct," Seluumiel agrees and nods to the half elf, "On horseback we will draw the eyes of too many. Going on foot is best." The moon elf continues on to the forest before them. Her sapphire eyes alert and magic ready at her fingertips.

"Agreed, I will take out as many as I can once you take flight. That will certainly draw their attention." Selunine looks to Trillion for a moment before returning her gaze to the skeletons. Though she preferred subversive magics there were times when subtlety was to be cast aside. Readying herself she nodded to Trillion and faced the skeletons, her violet eyes glowing bright with the tell tale light of magic.

Selunine stepped out from the coach and took in the chaotic scene before her. The fey narrowed her eyes at the sight of the mass of skeletons, too many for them to take on alone but there had to be a way to save the man who it seemed was the lone survivor of Badon.

Turning to Trillion she began,"We two cannot destroy them all, but we can bring the man on the pillar to safety. If you can fly up to him I can distract their attentions for a time."

Plato, Nietzsche, and Descartes are all three excellent sources for "what it means to be human." I would say you're going to be able to find at least some of their works in almost any public library, they aren't exactly obscure. Their ideas have been incredibly influencial to philosophy and critical theory. They're probably the best sources.

That being said, if this is for an English class and not a philosophy class your teacher probably wants you to draw literary references. Look at the books you have read in class this year, what do they say about the human condition? Remember the forum you are in.

"Druidess, if we can draw the dragon away from the tree, go to rescue whatever creature is hiding in there."

Battle ensues. Still holding the power of the storm Soronuume nods to the other woman. If anything survived within the giant oak she would do what she could. Whispering a silent prayer for the tree spirit Soronuume hops down from Thunderclap and edges forward surveying the scene before her. With the wild rage of the skies crackling within her she readies herself.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC:

1) Soronuume will continue to direct lightning bolts at the dragon. With one Call Lightning Storm spell she can call a total of 9 - she has 8 left and will continue to direct at the dragon until the spell is done.

2) If the dragon makes a move towards her or away from the oak tree Soronuume will Teleport (Dimension Stride Boots) to the burnt oak tree and investigate.

I think it's completely reasonable for Xavier and Chiron to behave as they do, let's just get this moving forward.
