Apparently I missed the opportunity then. Not that I'm all that versed in the star trek universe anyway...

Topic: Realms of Twilight Campaign Setting Available!
Subject: Update

Alright, it's been a while since I gave an update on my publishing company and what we are currently working on (if anyone cares to hear... though if not, I suppose you wouldn't be reading the thread...). *shrugs*

So here is what we have int he works right now:

1) A novel entitled Into the Night. The first part of the Master of Shadows trilogy set primarily in the Illurian Empire. I'm about 25% of the way done with this one.

2) An adventure focusing on the Illurian wastelands, and introducing players and GMs alike to the world. I plan to demo this adventure at my local comic store in October. When completed it'll be up on paizo.com and drivethrurpg.com as well as available in print (planned). I am in need of a few artists for some interior and cover images however. So let me know if you're interested.

3) Tiamat5774 and I are working on another adventure set in the city-states in the north of the continent of Kesuril. Its working title is A Whispered Requiem. Thus far it looks to be an outstanding adventure of twisting plots, deceit and a bit of mystery.

4) Due to suggestions I've gotten from some other publishers, I've decided to put together a 16-page free PDF about the city of Illuria and the surrounding lands, to give everyone a taste of the Realms of Twilight setting. Hopefully this will be available in print as well, but not for free.

5) I have a few other writers working on a periodical that will be reminiscent of dungeon magazine (by wizards of the coast). It may be a while on this one, but when it is done it will have at least 4 adventures included, spanning 3 continents.

As you can see there is a lot in the works for a sole proprietor like myself. If anyone is interested in buying a book let me know (or visit the marketplace ) and I'll get it set up for you. For those who might be interested in contributing, again, let me know what your skill set is and what rate you would charge and we'll talk about it.

Also, my publisher blog is available here for those who are interested in following my progress and success or failure (hopefully more of the prior than the later).

Well, that is about as long-winded as I normally am, so I'll end it here for now.

Have a good evening, morning, or whatever time it may be where you are!

The guard has taken minor damage from a magic missile cast by Echo. Other than that, I think you pretty much covered it.

Subject: A wary reception

As you all step through the cell block door the half-orc begins bragging.

"And you thought I couldn't handle handle the lot of them myself! The very thought that they would dare try to stand up to an armed guard, especially one of my size, if laughable!"

As the words leave his lips your realize that only two guards remain. The others must have been called away for some reason.

Those that remain however, are in a less than receptive mood. One already has his blade bare, the other is slowly pulling his sword from the scabbard at his waist.

"I don't know what it is you're trying to pull here half-breed, but we aren't buying it. Drop your weapon and surrender. You will be tried alongside these kidnapping scum."

He waves his sword threateningly. The other one moves towards the rest of the group.

"If I were you, I would step back into those cells before someone gets hurt." He looks at Ele and Kyara in particular. "I wouldn't want to have to scar those magnificent bodies after all."

(OOC: If you couldn't tell, the Bluff check failed miserably... sorry.)

Subject: The raid begins...

Daleel crept silently around the crates nearest the card playing guards. He pressed himself closely to the wooden crates, hiding in the shadows cast by the interior torchlight. At one point the guard in the opposite side of the warehouse turned to face him. He stopped cold in his tracks, a silent prayer on his lips. But the guardmumbled something unintelligible and began storming back to the table.

The halfling was only a few feet from the table when the approaching guard noticed him, but not before an arrow found its way into his lungs.

The archer fired, his aim was true. The arrow pierced the man's lungs preventing himfrom crying out and wounding him greatly (critical hit, 15 points of damage). The guard stumbled and went down in a heap.

"Eryk!" One of the guards yelled as they both lept to their feet. Daleel saw his opportunity, stabbing out with his short sword, and piercing the leg of the guard nearest him (9 points of damage from the sneak attack).

The guards began to recover from the shock. Each one drew their swords, now ready to defend themselves. The one closest to the halfling swung at him with a vicious downward chop. Daleel jump back, but was not fast enough to avoid all injury. The blade sliced across his chest, cutting a fine slice in his armor. (hit for 6 points of damage)

The second guard leapt atop the table, seeking high ground and yelled as loud as he could, likely hoping to enlist some sort of aid. He received a streaking bolt of magical energy in the chest for his trouble. It was a minor wound, but it silenced him long enough for the dwarven monk to leap up and jab a fist at his vital regions. Luckily for the guard, he managed to parry the monk's arm with the flat of his blade.

Meanwhile the other half of the dwarven brothers ran up, and without the echoing battle cry so typical of his kind, planted his mace (and the man's head beneath it) firmly in the second guard's chest. (Hit for 9 damage)

OOC: At the end of the first round, one guard remains standing on the table. The other two are down. He is yelling for help once again, but thus far there doesn't seem to be any response to his calls. Echo and the archer are on the opposite side of the crates that were blocking your view of the card players, but about 10' further into the open so as to have a clear line of sight to their targets. The others are all clustered on or around the last guard and the table he stands on.

Something was apparently missed in the descriptions so I'm going to manipulate your posts a bit. I hope the results don't end up counter to your intentions.

The guard across the warehouse is pacing angrily, he is in the opposite corner of the place to you and is not approaching. The boxes between you and the guards leave no room above or on the outside ofthem to navigate around (as Deleel mentioned).

Since we only have 4 reliable posters, only 4 people are taking action (though I will take that into account as I had originally planned on 6 PCs).

Just giving everyone a heads up.

Since no one is offering me any suggestions, I suppose I'll have to suffice with a publishing update. I've created a 12 page sample PDF that I've posted on both drivethrurpg.com and paizo.com. I'd provide links... but I can't access those two sites from work...(grr...).

For those of you who don't know I own Silver Crescent Publishing, and released the Realms of Twilight Campaign setting (Pathfinder compatible) at the beginning of August. If anyone has any questions don't hesitate to ask. And I'm still looking for suggestions as always.

Subject: The Warehouse Interior

The dirt floor of the warehouse's main level is relatviely bare. The interior of the structure stands approximately 40 feet across, with numerous crates lining the sides along the walls.

You see only the one guard pacing angrily in the opposite corner of the building, though you hear the sounds of more (atleast 2) guards to your right, beyond the stack of crates that is currently hiding your entry from sight of the guards.

The second floor of the warehouse is more of a catwalk around the outer walls, leaving the center wide open for the crane-like contraption that hangs from the ceiling rails. Stacks of crates line that floor as well, making it easy to imagine the halfling slipping silently between crates. There are only two ladders to the second level, one on either side of the large (20' tall) sliding door to your left that serves as the main entrance for carts and such to the building.

As of yet your entry has not been noticed.

The party's imprisonment was to be short-lived it seemed, due to the intervention of a half-orc stranger. None of the party seemed entirely ready to trust the newcomer, but since he seemed their only way out, they were forced to follow his lead for the moment.

The man dressed as a guard, though hey carried no key to the cells. A set of lock picks were his universal keys. Perhaps this half-orc was a bit more than he appeared to be.

With the two cell doors open, the party was released. Each could easily notice the four sets of manacles drapped across the shoulder of the false guard... which may call his intentions into question.

So the party is free, and yet still imprisoned. There are at least 4 guards in the outer room (information the half-orc would likely share with you), with your equipment kept in chests along the wall opposite the door into your cell block. Those are likely locked as well.

That is the situation before you. How you handle it, is now up to you.

As the party leaves the office section of the warehouse, another sound penetrates the door, this one the sound of a man yelling and cursing. When the outside door shuts, all is silent from within.

Having earned precious little information, but more than they began the day with, the party spent a few minutes trying to determine their next move. After a brief conversation the party decides to attempt another way in. The second small door was the most likely entrance, but it was in full view of the street. If the party were seen trying to forcibly enter that door, they risked the interference of the city guard. The windows high above also presented another possibility.

Thinking about the possibilities, Daleel thought the high road would be less likely to get them caught. He offered the suggestion, but with no response forthcoming was forced to take their fate into his own hands. The little man leapt up onto Thiferl's broad shoulders, and from there leaping up to grab the lip of the office roof. In moments he was on top, and scurrying through one of the propped open windows above.

Long moments pass with no sign of the halfling...

Would a person not familiar with spell casting have any idea what you were casting or who you were casting it on? I imagine most of the populace of ANY town would fall into that category.

For all they know you are cursing them all. Not to mention the fact that the use of magic might be illegal in this city. But we wouldn't know since we haven't talked to anyone... that doesn't mean they wouldn't hold you accountable for the sheer possibility of appearing just in front of the people of the town.

Just an example.

Something about abuse... and I didn't realize Mage Armor was a domain spell...

Also, Duec... I have a question. This may sound a bit odd coming from someone playing a drow, but why are you trying to intimidate the local populace?

Shield:
Just for clarification, is something like Deuc's last post something we need you to be involved in, or should we feel free to make up stuff like that as we go?

As always, lots of questions and snide comments (usually known as opinions) from the peanut gallery. But at least we've got the game off to some sort of start. That is always a plus.

Subject: And another goes to Germany!

That's odd... now two of my books have shipped to Germany...

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to get suggestions from people. I'm trying to branch out my advertising a bit (while spending as little as possible of course). So I was hoping that you guys might be able to give me a few suggestions. Thus far I have the print book up on my own website, along with the PDF. The PDF is also available at drivethrurpg.com and paizo.com.

I've convinced Paizo to put the book in their newsletter or blog which will help a bit I think, and I've been posting on their messegeboards pretty consistently.

I also have a blog of my own that seems to be getting a bit more traffic in the past week or two (you can get to it from my website. It's the Town Crier).

There are also 2 local gaming stores that have 2 copies each. One of them sold one and I'm waiting to hear back from the other.

I am trying to finish a short (4-5 hour) adventure that I will be demoing it at one of the game stores on their RPG night.

What else can/should I be doing?

A barely audible comment and then a torrent of laughter can be heard from the guard room.

"Suit yourself orcblood, but don't come crying back when those women put you in your place."

The main door to the hall of cells closes once again.
