Subject: Papers

Papers are not required to simply travel through the area. But when contracts are made (such as between you and the merchant) papers are created and provided to you to keep. They do this so you can prove that you rendered services to the merchant (and for book keeping purposes).

Hey, for any of you that are on facebook, I'm trying to get a facebook page going for my campaign setting. Please, if you are willing, "Like" the page (just do a search for Realms of Twilight). As always I'm more than willing to answer questions about the setting, my company, upcoming products, etc. I'm just hoping to get a few discussions and comments and such going on the facebook page... and currently I'm not having much luck.

Thanks a lot for everyone's support!

You can choose either way. Either you stayed behind, or you went out searching for some of the same information and came up with nothing. Whichever option you choose will be fine.

I expected this sort of situation, and am trying to use it to help you guys get used to my gaming style (particularly since I'm still adjusting to PbP).

The man stands up from the desk, and packs up the ledger and the few other things on his desk as Heironymus pulls out his contract papers (assumption here).

The man rolls his eyes, obviously he had hoped you didn't have your papers. But he takes the contract from you and examines it for a moment.

"So you are the caravan guards that let Allyn's daughter get kidnapped. I shall have to make a note of that." He looks intently at each of you, as if memorizing your faces. He lives in one of the big houses on Merchant's Row near the palace. His house name is posted on the outer gates.

"I will warn you though, he has been much more suspicious of everyone of late. And he still grieves for the loss of his daughter."

The man hands back your papers and retreats back into the building.

The posted guards glare at you, almost seeming to hope you don't leave the complex, or daring you to pursue the man into the Merchant's Guild building.

(Those of you who have been in the city before know that they will be closing the main doors to the complex shortly. Anyone who does not remove themselves is generally forcibly removed or charge with illegal trespassing depending on circumstances and who is involved.)

When gathering information, if your characters have any specific methods in mind or if they want to actually spend gold to assist in the gathering of information please let me know, either by stating as much in your main thread post or here in the Q&A. Methods and money can modify your chances of success.

And remember, at least in this job, time does matter.

The group splits from the guild hall, seeking out information on both the brand and the messenger. One hour later, everyone manages to meet back at the guild hall without incident.

(PMs have been sent to those who specifically mentioned they would be researching one aspect or another. It is up to them to reveal what they have learned. And bear in mind, when conversations are going on amongst the group or with NPCs you aren't limited to a single post in a week. )

The time is now one hour after Selene's zenith (noon) on the first day.

The midday meal is being served in the mess hall so the common room is relatively bare. The usual loud raucous emanates from behind the mess hall doors. Other than the usual interior guards and the guild's contact point (for potential clients) at the main desk the common room is empty.

From the common room, double doors lead into the mess hall, stairs lead up to the guild members' private rooms, and several doors lead to meeting rooms similar to the one you started in. Lastly a passage heads to the southern end of the building, containing the small library and various crafting supply rooms. (The smithy is outside on the southern end of the building).

Anyone at the Inn interested in a copy? $40 + S&H (I'll ship internationally, but the S&H will be a lot more... unfortunately).

The man looks up from the ledger on his desk to see Heironymus standing over him. With a roll of his eyes and a sigh he addresses you.

"Sir, the guild hall is closing. I suggest you complete your business quickly. Now, what manner of contract are you looking to fulfill?"

He looks at Heironymus expectantly, not even appearing to notice the rest of the group. The guards in the open square however, are keeping a close eye on the entire party, their halberds ready to be used should trouble erupt. You occasionally notice them whispering to each other as the look on.

I agree to not limiting the subject to character names, but I would like to see the character name as the first word if possible.

My second comment meant the the jobs have already been seen and approved by someone in your guild chain of command that is higher than you, otherwise you would have never seen the job. I had thought I said this earlier, but looking through posts it seems I did not. Sorry about that.

Subject: So it is.

I've been dreaming about having my own game book for about the last decade. About 2 years ago I finally started pulling everything I had written together into a book format. Now I'm only 4 weeks away from having the book in my hands. Exciting is a bit of an understatement I think. But even if I don't manage to sell enough to break even on the project (I have to sell about 210 copies) I still will be able to say that I did it, and have the book in my hand with my name on the cover.

It really is cool. It will be even cooler when I actually have the books.

And thanks for the congrats Eol.

Subject: Good News!

Well, I officially sent my Realms of Twilight Campaign Setting off to the printers on Tuesday. My first printing run is only 50 books, so we'll see how it sells. It's a setting designed for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game (compatible with D&D 3.5E). I plan to number and sign the entirety of the first printing but nothing after that (excpet maybe on special request). So if anyone want a copy please let me know. About half of them are already reserved. The cost is $40 + S&H and I should have the books in hand on July 30th.

Thank you all for your input and encouragement.

I AM still looking for writers and artists interested in helping me put together an adventure series (see previous posts in this thread). So PM me or post if you are interested. I'm also looking for suggestions on what my first supplement book should be should my campaign setting sell well enough to justify it. So, if you have any suggestions, again let me know.

Thanks again.

Topic: Origins in Columbus 2010
Subject: Only a month

August 5-8th... I rally am looking forward to it. And even if I don't have a booth this year I'm still using it as a business trip (gotta love having my own publishing company ya know?). I'm going to be bringing a camera and a digital recorder to get a feel for how people present their products, booth decor, etc. in order to help me when I )hopefully) have my booth next year. But beyond that I'm already signed up for a number of RPG events, including a pair of Pathfinder Society games (like the RPGA except for the Pathfinder RPG by Paizo) which I think will be fun.

My hotel bill however... will not be fun. I reserved the room in March and am still paying almost $1,000 for the weekend for a single room. Given the hotel only opened in February and is 2 blocks from the convention center... but still!

Anyway, I have every intention of posting about it when I get back. Maybe next year we can get a bunch of people from the Inn to go (and buy my books!). Alright, enough of the shameless self-promotion.

I'm glad you enjoyed Origins. And I hope to have as much or more fun at GenCon in August.

I wanted to make Origins this year because of the pending release of my Campaign Setting. Alas, it was not to be. I WILL be at GenCon though... even though I couldn't afford a booth this year. Hopefully I'll be able to make Origins next year. Even more hopefully, maybe I'll be able to sell me book there!

Thanks for the review of it. It gives me a better idea what i'll be dealing with if I go next year.

That line has been used in so many movies, TV show, books and other things... it doesn't necessarily have to come from a Star Trek movie. Or perhaps he was just inspired by his own badassery. He is a paladin after all, they tend to roast in their own self-righteousness with great frequency.
