Argent charged one of the two remaining guards in the alley. In a rush he came up past the 1/2 orc swinging at legs and torso of the man before him. The guard attempted to leap out of the way but the dangerous dwarf clipped his leg in mid-air throwing him off balance. Before the guards feet had even touched the group the 1/2 orc's two blades came across in a scything strike. The crunch of steel on bone was audible to all nearby as the bloody and broken man fell tohis back instead of his feet, dying where he landed.

Fear was plain in the eyes of the last guard as he looked up to see his only remaining comrade brutally slain. Skit smiled at the distraction. It was all he needed. His own blade slid smoothely between the mans ribs. The shocked immediately returned his attention to the little one, only to realize that his life was quickly bleeding away. He takes one last swing, putting all the strength of his failing life into it, but he can only rate a glancing blow (inflicting 2 hp damage on Skit) before falling dead.

Thiferl stands calmly on the top of the warehouse office, despite the flying arrows. He focus his faith once again, materializing it into a dart of frozen water. Intending to aim it at the fleeing archers he gauged the distance for the shot. They were already too far away. Without a second thought he sent the icicle slashing into the same archer who he had injured before. Unlike the first shot, this one did significantly more damage as it slashed through the man's bow and impaled itself into the man's stomach. He fell to the ground clutching at the quickly melting missile, unable to pull it from his body. The two archers that remained took aim, but thought better of it and slowly backed out of sight, keeping their bows trained on Thiferl in case he chose to launch another missile at them.

The battle was drawing to a close. With Echo's help the last of the slaves reached solid ground and they were ready to leave. The path towards the glassworks seems the most likely path to your goal if you wish to avoid the street.

One of the slaves, a middle-aged human man by the look of him, comes up to Echo once the slaves are all off of the roof.

"Thank you my lord for saving us! What's your name? Where did you come from?"

He looks as anxious as the rest of the slaves. They seem to want to be away from this place as soon as possible, and for the moment, they look to you for guidance.

The Raslan wiped his blades off on the dead man's clothes before sheathing them in his harness. Then he placed both hands upside his nose. With a sickening crunch and a slight squeek he repositioned his nose back to its rightful place on his face.

Now to bandage my leg.

After searching a bit through the foliage, he came up with a few long leaves from a nearby plant. Hoping they weren't poisonous he wiped clean his leg wound and then bandaged the wound with the leaves.

I look a mess. This is hardly heroic, but I'm sure with a few spins this will be an epic battle for my tales when we return to camp.

The thought brought a grin to his face.

"Is everyone else alright?"

Greetings to all those who follow the Realms of Twilight or Pathfinder worlds!

I just wanted to offer an update on Silver Crescent Publishing and my creations for the moment.

For those of you who may not yet be aware, I founded my own publishing company (Silver Crescent Publishing) just prior to Gen Con this year and published the Realms of Twilight campaign setting hardcover book. Sales have been going well, with the first printing almost sold out. I'm looking to do a second printing and an update PDF for the first printing in the next month or 2 (depending on sales).

The book is available in print form at my website marketplace for $40 (+tax, S&H) and the PDF version is available here for $19.95 + tax).

I also have a blog that I try to post in at least once a week (and likely would more if I got more comments/feedback) here and a facebook page here for those who may be interested in keeping up to date with the latest from Silver Crescent.

My current projects include:

- a 5th level adventure entitled Lycan's Bane (which I am actually running here at the inn as a Demo). All I am waiting for on this one is maps and artwork, which are currently in the works. The tentative release date on this one is March 1st, for both print and PDF versions.

- A Whispered Requiem, a longer 3 part adventure that begins in the city state of Solstice on the continnt of Kesuril. This one is a combine effort of myself and Tiamat5774, and his work on it thus far has been exceptional. I hope to have this one released by GenCon 2011.

- Lastly is Into the Night the first novel in the Master of Shadows trilogy. This book is just under 1/3 of the way done and will hopefully be released in late spring/early summer of 2011. I have considered posting the first few chapters here at the inn to get some feedback. What do you guys think about that? (I've gotten one vote for it)

Anyway, there is my long update and a bunch of links for people to check out. As always let me know if there are any questions/comments about the company, the setting, Pathfinder or anything else I might be able to answer, feel free to ask and I'll do what I can to answer.

Have a good night/day/afternoon/whatever it may be...

With a feral snarl of frustration the halfling buries (or at least attempts) both of his daggers in the vital spots (throat, spleen, etc.) of the man he has pinned to the ground. Once he is sure the man is dead, he moves once again into the shadows and underbrush, seeking his next opening to strike, and searching those same shadows for more bandits.

The little one grimaced in pain as he tested his leg. The blood was flowing freely, but he didn't have time to bandage it right now. As much as it hurt, it seemed his leg would, in fact, support his weight.

Well, one down, and two left. Perhaps I can at least serve as a distraction to allow the others to get a bit closer...

Quickly and as silently as possible the Raslan moved over beside the nearest bandit. He watched the eyes of his foe, to see if they followed him, or they stayed where he last dove into the underbrush.

(If the bandit seems to track Koriss' movements he will fling a dagger from behind cover and then move silently to another spot, a bit closer. If he doesn't seem to detect me or turns his attention back on the others I'll go for another sneak attack).

Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he moved through the underbrush like a soft breeze...

The melee is occuring twenty-five feet down the alley way to your right. The gathering of slaves is between you and the melee. There is an alley that leads between two buildings leading away from the warehouse, towards the glassworks. You are not all that familiar with the back alleys of the city, but you would likely assume that the network of alleys could lead you in the general vacinity of the "drop off point."

The remaining guard faces off with the monk, sword at the ready. He watches the dwarf's movements, taking better measure of his opponent. In a slow circle he moves around, backing away from the monk towards where the other soldier's sword had landed.

(The soldier is moving slowly (5' step), full defensive)

Recognizing the man's intent to gain another weapon Argent quickly closes the gap between them. He steps under the man's guard and sweeps the man's fron't leg from beneath him. The soldier's weight fully in under the dwarf's control, he quickly grabs the man's helmet and pulls to the side, bringing the man's head into easy reach before slamming his first squarely between his eyes. This man too collapses silently to the ground. (Congrats on the critical hit by the way.)

As Echo moves across the rooftop, ushering slaves down the ladder he glances back one last time towards the archers. Three of them are moving off to the side back the way they originally came. The three that remain send another volley of arrows soaring at the rooftop, seeming to whistle as they come in biting for flesh. Fortunately for all those ont he rooftop, it seems the skilled archers are th ones who just left, since not a single arrow found its target. One, however, was close enough to Echo that he was forced off the roof in his attempt to dodge. Luckily, the half-elf was more nimble than he seemed. What was first looking to be a painful fall was turned into a graceful landing... as if he meant to do it. As the arrows flew so did sharp shards of ice from the fingertips of Thiferl. They slashed into one of the archers (for 5 hp damage) wounding him, but trained as they were he gritted his teeth and placed yet another arrow on his bowstring.

Now, only two guards remained in the melee behind the warehouse. At the arrival of the large half-orc they both spun around to face him. For several seconds they watched as he pulled his blade from their cloven comrade and slowly slid his other blade free from the scabbard. When the low snarl escaped his lips, the pair could not help but move back a step, where the halfling stood waiting...

(OOC: Alright, in an effort to ease the responsibility this holiday season, we will take a break from the game until January 2nd. Feel free to post and converse as much as you wish between now and then but please have at least one post completed by the 2nd. The game will be updated again at that point. "As you wish sir."

The man disappears out of the door, returning about ten minutes later followed by half a dozen servants carrying large silver platers. The servants set the table for the party with fine china, though the silverware is steel rather than true silver.

Platers containing rosted duck, breads, chesses and a number of other succulent side dishes are placed on the table along with serving utensils. The servants then exit the room without a word.

"If that will be all...?"

Waiting only a few moments for a response and then leaves, closing the door softly behind him and leaving the group to their own devices.

As he heard the sounds of alarm the halfling looks to the ground for a moment and shook his head. Clumsy tall folk...

Sure that the rest of the group must have heard the alarm he dashed into the underbrush a split second later, disappearing as only one of his kind could. Daggers in hand he moved silently around the party, waiting and watching for the approach of bandit guards and searching for any place that prisoners might be kept.

He would protect his travelmates as well as he could, but if he found the location of the prisoners, he would ensure that no bandit came close on the chance that they meant to punish the innocents for the incursion of him and those with him.

(OOC: If bandits approach I will wait until I see an opening for a strike against a distracted opponent and take it, attacking and then disappearing as well as I am able.)

Yes they would be assuming you are standing about the center of the roof. The archers are about 20 feet from the road-side of the office section you are currently standing on. I really don't want to do the math since you are on a different level so... yes... yes they are.

It is only a matter of minutes before a large mansion comes into view. It is a sprawling three story building constructed alost entirely out of gray stone. The trim is dark wood, polished and carved into ornate designs. Atop the house and on its two balconies can be seen several statues that vigilantly watch over the grounds. A number of windows can be seen on each floor, several have light pouring out of them. From what you can see from here the interior is as rich and ornate as the exterior.

The area surrounding it is completely clear of both trees and underbrush for fifty feet in any direction. At the edge of the forest to the northeast can be seen another smaller building with a well nearby. A guest house of sorts perhaps?

As you approach the house the large front door opens and a well-dressed man steps out.

"Welcome my friends. The Master is busy at the moment but he bid me to ensure you are all comfortable. There are rooms prepared for each of you if you wish, or you can make yourselves comfortable in the parlor."

He motions you inside and (assuming you head in) motions to a room off to the right.

"This is the parlor."

As you look in you see a large room (25' square) carpeted in thick red carpet, accented by a black bearskin rug. The hearth at the opposite end of the room blazes, providing a warmth to the room that you haven't felt in far too long. There is also extra wood just to the side of the fireplace. Several floor to ceiling bookshelves stand on either side of the hearth filled with leatherbound volumes. A pair of fine, padded chairs face the fire with a small table between them on which sits a pair of books, a low burning oil lamp and a small copper bell.

In another section of the room is an ornate ebony table surrounded by six matching chairs. The detail of the carvings on both the table and the chairs is exquisite, likely valueing into te hundreds of gold pieces for their art value alone.

"You may relax here if you wish. If you have need of anything simply ring te bell and I shall come. The Master said it may be some time before he is available to speak with you, and asks for your patience. Now, may I offer you tea, wine, or perhaps something to eat before I return to my duties elsewhere?"

(Unless anyone requests anything he bids you good evening and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.)

(OOC: I just want to say, great posts done by all. Thanks.)

The guard that had been hit so powerfully by Argent stagges back a few steps before regaining his balance and coming back in, sword whistling across his body. Try as he might the dwarf's momentum would not allow him to avoid the blow. He threw his weight back, turning a mortal blow into a flsh wound (Argent is hit for 4 hp damage). The other guard saw his opening and came in from the side, trying to flank the unarmed fighter. His attack was somewhat less successful than his comrade's. The sword thrust was neatly battered aside by the quick hands of the monk.

After the quick block Argent steps forward to finish off his first opponent. A lightning fast roundkick barely misses. Using the momentum built up from the spinning kick he continued the circle, coming around with a backhand just as the guard was moving back in for another attack. The back of his fist connected solidly with the side of the man's head, stooped as he was. There was a sickening crunch and the guard collapsed in a heap, his sword spinning off to the side and clattering off of the wall of the building opposite the warehouse.

As the rooftop is slowly clearing of slaves, the members of the group become clearer targets for the archers down below. Six arrows slice through the air, seeking the death of those who would dare to steal from their master. Two embd themselves in the dead slave being caried by Thiferl. He can almost feel the point of one of them against his back. Another buries itself in a ladder wrung only inches away from Echo's hand. Two of the others find targets. One slices the leg of a slave, causing her to stumble and fall from the roof. Luckily another slave, one a bit hardier than her, broke her fall. She is limping, but very much alive.

As the half-orc sprints across the rooftop two of the archers take aim. The arrow of one soars through his running legs as he hops up a bit mid-stride. The second slices through his right arm leaving a long gash in his bicep. (hit for 3 hp damage) With the rugged determination he does not stagger or misstep, even as the blood begins to flow down his woundd arm. Three steps later he soars off of the rooftop, sword in hand for a vicious downward chop.

Below him the two guards facing the halfling and the one who has not yet engaged the group remain unaware of the death soaring down on them from above. Skit raises his sword and grins slyly as the sword of his newly freed ally slices downward. The unengaged guard looks up just in time to see his doom. He is caught completely by surprise as Uthgar's sword bites deep into his body, given further momentum by the half-orc's descent. His arm (and much or his torso) is cloven from his body. He glances at it briefly with a look of shock on his face before collapsing to the ground dead. uthgar turns to the two guards threatening the halfling and smiles.

While they are distracted Skit rushes in, sticking one of the guards in the ribs (for 3 points of damage) before retreating among a series of powerful blows from both of his adversaries. One attack manages to slip through his guard grazing his scalp a bit. (hit for 2 hp damage)

Through much effort Echo manages to move the ladder out and get it onto the roof. Several of the slaves take it from him and put it in place on the side of the building before beginning to help the injured and more frail among them to the ground.

(OOC: As I said, great posting by all. I can only hope this keeps up. As it stands now, the 6 archers remain on the side of the building opposite the alley. They have not yet moved. Of the 6 that went behind the alley, 3 have now been slain. There is one remaining that battles Argent and two that are between Uthgar and Daleel. It will take 3 more rounds for the slaves to all be clear and off of the building.)

Argent and the slaves that already got down jumped the 10' to the ground. The only ladder you've used is the one you detached from the interior of the warehouse which was used to get the slaves up onto the second floor.

So, everyone on the ground the far has jumped. There are those among the slaves, however, which will be unable to do that (particularly small children and those carrying infants).

The halfling however, has been hiking this whole time. Darkness and stealth are also his forte. Beyond that, what good does it do us to find the bandits if we are too exhausted to fight them.

We know nothing about the situation we will be walking into, about where they actually are, how many there are, or really anything further than they are somewhere near here. If we are going to go into a situation we are ignorant of and ill-prepared for, I would at least like to do it well-rested.

Have the horse rider go on by himself and get himself killed facing a dozen bandits. I'm sure Koriss won't care other than it'll make his job harder because now the bandits will know someone is hunting them.

By the way, not all bandits are stupid or roguish. They lead by strength and intimidation.
