The link will likely be very helpful, and much cheaper than everyone going to buy the books.

However, I still find our game lacking at least 1 more player (though I will accept up to 3 more).

And I just realized that I didn't answer one of your questions Almerin. The game will go on for as long as it can. As long as people keep playing, I'll keep coming up with new scenarios and adventures to entertain them. I have no partiuclar end point in mind at the moment. Only a path and a journey.

Also, I have officially decided to allow a single thri-kreen (should someone decide to play one) using the monster class rules. I believe it is a 5 level monster class though I'll have to look it up to verify.

Alright, who else?

Nobody's perfect. Myself included. (mark that on the calendar... I usually don't admit that. )

As far as shorter posts, I realize that not every post is going to be a novel. In fact, I don't expect anything near that. I'm more interested in reliable posting (and perhaps a few extra posts if a conversation is going on) than the length. Quality over quantity after all.

Races: Any standard core races. I am debating allowing thri-kreen from the psionics handbook, but you would have to go through the monster level progression first (starting as a 2nd level thri-kreen of course) before you could choose a standard PC class. Of course even the standard races may have a slight twist on them due to the desert environment. Appearance bay be a bit different for instance, but likely nothing as far as the game mechanics.

Any other questions?

I appreciate the compliments Eol, though I'm sorry you won't be able to join the game.

I still need between 2 and 4 players. Thus far we have a fighter (archer) and a rogue. Anyone else interested?

I've played a kobold monk before, they can really be fun... though probably not as the primary fighter of the group. I'll look at the races and see what I come up with.

Hit points are max for 1st level and you can roll for second. But I expect honesty. I will be performing all rolls after character creation.

I'll PM you the modifications for the fighter and human real quick to help you. Other than that, the stuff I've already posted should help you in the right direction. And, of course, you can always ask if you get confused. I'm more than willing to help.

Pathfinder is in essence, a variation of the 3.5E rule set published by paizo. There are some modifications to the skill list, as well as the core races and classes. However, the rules are essentially the same. If you want to choose a race and class and let me know I can PM you the info from pathfinder.

Other rules variations:

1) Combat Maneuver Bonus: Instead of having a bunch of opposed checks for special maneuvers (i.e. disarm, grapple, etc.) Pathfinder uses a Combat Maneuver Bonus which = Base Attack Bonus + Str Mod + size modifier. You use the Combat Maneuver Bonus instead of your attack bonus when attempting a special maneuver. This bonus is modified by feats like Improved Disarm and such when those maneuvers are used.

You also have a Combat Maneuver Defense which = 10 + Base Attack Bonus + Str Mod + Dex Mod + Size modifier. This is effectively the AC that a character or creature needs to beat to succeed at a special maneuver.

2) Skill Changes:
a) The Search, Listen and Spot skills have become Perception (Wisdom based)
b) Open Locks is now a part of the Disable Device skill (Dex based).
c) Concentration is no longer a skill. The modifier for Concentration checks is your caster class level.
d) Jump, Tumble and Balance have become Acrobatics (Dex based).
e) Forging and Speak Language have become Linguistics (Int based). For each point you put in you still learn a language.
f) Hide and Move Silently have become Stealth (Dex based)
g) You do not gain 4x your initial skill points at 1st level. However, when you put your first point into any class skill you gain an automatic +3 bonus to that skill.

3) Feat Progression: Characters receive feats every other level instead of every third (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.) This, along with the race/class modifications makes characters a bit more powerful than 3.5E, but the monsters are stronger as well.

4) 0-level spells: Both cantrips (Wizards/Sorcerers) and orisons (Clerics) can be cast infinitely. I reserve the right to nix this rule if it is abused.

5)Chosen Class: You get to choose your single chosen class (instead of it being determined by race). Every time you advance in level in that class you gain either a bonus hit point or a bonus skill point.

6) Low-Light Vision: Because my world has only twiight, every race effectively has low light vision. Races who normally have this ability have double normal range.

Other than listing all of the class and race differences these are the primary differences. Does that help a bit? And yes Dakarta, you can play. I assume you will be playing your usual rogue?

Subject: Monk it is!

I will be the monk then. Likely he will serve as our melee combatant. I haven't decided on a race as of yet. I think I might be leaning towards a bugbear (for strength) or a kobold (just because their small and nasty...). Or perhaps a hobgoblin. I'll think a bit more and get back to you.

Subject: Starting level

If you still wanted to do level 2 as a starting level we could create a monster class for bugbear so anyone choosing that race would have to finish out the monster class first before choosing a core class. Just a thought.

So if wizard is the only class taken I suppose I will choose either a rogue or a monk. I can do either one depending on what we most need.

Topic: Realms of Twilight - Winds and Sand Recruitment
Subject: Realms of Twilight - Winds and Sand

Alright, while my first Realms of Twilight game is still going, I thought I would try another one, taking place in a different part of the Realms of Twilight Campaign Setting that I will be publishing in a month or so.

Introduction:
The world of Relistan has not seen the light of the True Sun for millenia. An ancient ritual pulled a great orb from the heavens to block the sun's light for eternity. Not, the only light that shines on the surface of the world is that of the three moons and the stars. Time is still referred to as day and night, and is determined by the cycle of Selene, the white moon (it has a 24 hour cycle).

The continent of ShirĂ¡n is a great desert, created in the times long before the Eternal Eclipse. Yet even with the lack of the sun's power the sands are no less dangerous and the heat no less sweltering. Many scholars have theorized at the heat's source and why it's cycle seems to be related to Selene, but none have found true answers.

The Shifting Sands (as the desert is less than affectionately called) has everything a desert should. There are several oasis, sand storms, and nomadic tribes trying to survive.

The majority of the desert is ruled by the Lords of the Shifting Sands, a group of powerful individuals who have carved up the desert to create their own domains. All but the northeastern region of the continent falls under the command of one of the 4 regional Lords, with the Crimson Prince (the last of the five) wandering the sands.

The group will begin in the free city of Calatain in the northeastern region of the desert. It is a city of gems, silks and riches. But where there are riches, there are thieves. Though here, the thieves guilds must battle any number of other guild for power and wealth. These battles inevitably happen in the shadows, away from visible society, and offer ample possibilities for willing adventurers.

The characters will be a small group of mercenaries, a part of the recently created mercenary guild known as the Blue Hand. The guild is small and not very wealthy at the moment. Yet its leader, a mysterious man known only as Lord Azure, has found ways to make a profit for the guild by forcing his way into contracts with various other guilds and sides of this complex political situation. You are not recent recruits, nor are you as experienced as some of the guild's members. You are most definitely not very familiar with the complexities of the current political situation, which is why you all joined the guild in the first place. You get paid well, and only pay a portion of any loot you find to the guild in exchange for contracts and a relatively steady source of income.

The characters all know each other, as the guild is still small. But the may not have worked together before.

Now for the rules:

We will be using the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rule set (not too different from 3.5E Dungeons & Dragons) for this game. For ability scores I will use an 80 point buy system with no scores higher than 18 before racial modifiers. I would recommend not having more than 2 scores of 18, I tend to dislike such characters .

Character Level: 2 (with starting funds of 1,000 gp.) When you send me character sheets please only include skills you actually have ranks in. I would rather not have to sort through a skills list that includes a bunch of stuff that you only have your ability modifier. I can figure that out on my own.

Available Classes: Anything from the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, my soon to be published Campaign Setting book or the Expanded Psionics Handbook by Wizards of the Coast (Though I will limit it to 2 psionic characters so if you want one, pick it quickly). The only core class from my cook is the Combat Alchemist (uses short-lasting mixtures in combat). I will allow only one of these. Those wanting more information... just ask.

Number of Characters:Ideally 4-6

Feats: Feats can be chosen from the Pathfinder book or any Wizards of the Coast product (though I reserve the right to veto anything I don't like... GM's privilege).

Posting: I will do an official game update every Sunday. If conversations are occurring with NPCs I will likely post more often to facilitate that. I expect quality posts with correct spelling and relatively good grammar. If you do not post you leave your character at the mercy of the Game Master... (insert maniacal laughter here).

Other Notes: I will have a thread that has character sheets on it. I will keep everything updated there. (Yes I got the concept from Trilogy Wars, but I like it and it works).

Eberron is one of the few settings I haven't played... though I would be willing to give it a try. I tend to lean towards mage or rogue characters. Grugg, did you officially decide on a wizard? What other classes do we have? (This is assuming there is still an opening of course.)

Well, I'm turning a home-made world into a published campaign setting. I've created prestige classes, magic items, spells, and even a completely new core class along with his own series of over 50 mixtures to use in combat. But I can't really post all that here. So I'll just give you a teaser...

The Elemental Fist: A prestige class (easiest for monk characters) that learns to use elemental shrouds as they increase in level, granting them elemental resistances and abilities when their chosen shroud is activated.

"Well... it seems khords are just coming out of the stonework like roots. One group mumbling something about a blue rock, another appearing out of thin air in a cavern infested with bugs. Questionable if you ask me."

He still has his large ax in hand, and the slime covering him keeps anyone from telling much else about his appearance besides his lack of any visible hair.

He looks down at himself for a moment.

"Baah. I need a bath to get this wretched filth off o' me."

Szordrin Trith'Tarl
Red Dragon Inn

Szordrin observed the child, wondering how she had crept up on them without his trained and keen senses noticing her. Even if she had been transported magically, one of his items would have informed him. Strange... but not the strangest thing he had yet experienced. There was this incident with the archon on Elysium... or the Emperor's daughter...

Anyway, he chose to observe, as he usually did when students were present. Such a strange occurance was likely the doing of... hmmm...

"Well little one, I'm sure your new friends will help you find the mother you seek." He slowly stands up from the table, finishing his frostwine in one gulp. "If you will excuse me my students, I have other things to attend to at this moment. Do enjoy the rest of your evening. And if you would, help the young one find her mother will you please?"

He bows slightly to the table and walks across the room, to where the Headmaster as seated yourself, picking up another pair of frostwine filled goblets on his way.
"Greetings my Lady. Would you mind if I joined you?" Without waiting for an answer he seats himself in a chair beside Merideth, in the same movement placing one of the goblets on teh table before her while bringing his own to his lips for a sip.

"Perhaps it is my incredibly keen sense of personal emotion..." he says with a slight grin. "But you seem troubled. Nothing a bit of good wine and pointless conversation could not stave off for a few moments I hope. If nothing else, at least you haven't lost your mother as the little girl over there." He motions with his goblet to the table he just came from. He looks for the slightest reaction from the Professor, believing this to be some sort of after school hours test or some such. Meanwhile he still watches the table and the girl, curious as to her nature and where she came from.

(OOC: Is that direct enough to stir some action? )

Question... so does this game have anything resembling a normal posting schedule or is it a "take it as it comes" setup? Just curious. I think I like where this will be headed, but it has kind of stalled for the moment it seems. I hope Tus didn't take another vacation from the inn ()

"What blue eye? What are you talking about? Great. I've been rescued by a bunch of crazies. Just my luck..."

After a moment of mumbling to himself he speaks again.

"I was caught by a bunch of those huge bug things. I never thought they were that smart, but apparently I underestimated them. I did manage to take a few down before they grabbed me though."

He gazes at his axe admiringly, only now seeming to realize that it is as much covered by the slimy substance from the inside of the cyst as the rest of him. In as near to panic as a dwarf likely ever gets he jumps up and down and says: "I need a cloth! Something without all of this slime on it. Hurry!"

(assuming someone supplies such a cloth)

He gently wipes his axe clean and inspects it from blade to shaft.

"I suppose that'll do for now." He tosses the now slime covered cloth back to whomever it was that gave it to him.

"So... which way is out?"

Topic: Realms of Twilight - A Journey Begins
Subject: Game Update

(OOC: Sorry this is late... traveling cross country this weekend.)

GM Note: The location you are currently in is about 4 days trek from where you were (as far as you can tell). If the two elves wish to return for the horse they should feel free, though it will be a long journey and Jocelyn may not have time for such a long side trip. Feel free to do what you like, but the GM is suggesting you forget the horse for now.

The flames ride high into the night as you all converse and make your plans. The group will split, it seems. Though it seems unwise to do so given the power of the group they just faced.

After a thorough examination, Heironymus is truly shocked that Airion stayed on his feet for so long. He finds evidence of broken ribs, severe bruising and several deep cuts that managed to bleed little enough so that he didn't die of blood loss. (I assumed a take 20 on a Heal skill check) Though the cleric has little experience with torture, it doesn't take a professional to imagine what this elf must have endured in the hands of his captors. Heironymus expends all of his healing spells repairing the wounds of the rogue and still has to bind his ribs to ensure that they set properly.

Too exhausted from the ordeal to make any firm plans tonight you each bed down and take some rest (setting a watch I would assume). The night passes without incident and all too soon the white moon breaks the horizon once again and the day begins anew. It is time to finalize your plans and decide where you are headed.

As Gyviar attempt to pry the cyst-like formation from the wall it bursts open, sending the captured khord sputtering and sprawling to the floor. He is completely hairless, and clad in black leather armor with a large and well-worn dwarven waraxe strapped to his back. Scars crisscross his face and several other places where his skin is visible. He is obviously no stranger to combat.

In that instant he seems markedly more awake and animated than he did only moments before. With the practiced movements of a trained warrior he rolled buck up to hist feet and had his sharp waraxe in his hand. He looks around wildly, waving his axe threateningly at everyone, ready to attack. Slowly the fog lifts from his eyes as he begins to realize where he is and who it is that is present nearby. He gently lowers his axe and eyes each member of the group carefully.

After a moment he extends a hand to Gyviar, accidentally flinging some of the cyst-slime that still covers him onto Gyviar's clothing. "Thanks for releasing me from that thing. The name is Dain. Now, who the hell are you all?"

Greetings. You can always look into the Red Wyrm School game which is always recruiting. It is intended to be a introduction to the Inn and play by post games in general (as well as the 3.5E rule set, though from what you say you are likely pretty familiar with it.) Beyond that, there are always new games in various rule sets starting up.

I hope you enjoy your stay at the Inn. Have fun!

Yes. You could have the greatest of adventure concepts, but not have the ability to write it in a way that is conducive to publishing, or vice versa. So ideally I would like to see both. However, the 2-page adventure proposal is all that I am requiring for a writing submission.

If you do submit a writing sample along with the proposal, please make it no longer than 2 pages in itself.

The proposal should have (at least) the following elements:

1) Starting Location
2) Backstory
3) Plot Summary
4) Introduction (which may fulfill the writing sample request)
5) Adventure Hook
6) Any extra information that will be important to the adventure concept.

I hope this clarifies a bit what I'm looking for.
