Are the tutorials online or part of the download?

The purpose, as I'm sure you read, is to use the mapping software for the maps in adventures. From what you are saying it seems like this could be very effective for this once I get a handle on the layout and how it works. Would that be an accurate assumption?

I'll have to download that and play around with it a bit. If it does everything I need that might be the perfect solution. Is it user friendly?

Subject: My Goal

My purpose in getting a booth is two-fold. First is spreading awareness of my company and my products. Second is to actually sell my merchandise (i.e. my books). T-shirts (as far as I've found thus far) are kind of expensive, though if a professional such as yourself thinks that it might help, I'll have to put a bit more thought into it. The author talks is a good idea that I think I'll try to make work. We only have a 10' square booth, but I'm sure we could find a way to figure out how to do it. With me being the author and publisher, at least I know the author will always be available. Any other tips? I don't have much to go on so I appreciate any advice I can get.

You see, analog clocks are required to have miniature gnomes or dwarves inside them that savagely beat on the internal mechanics with hammers once every second in order for them to function correctly. Digital clocks are an amazing improvement to this. They rely on a purely illusory effect. In effect, the numbers are not really there at all, but we believe they are, so they appear real to us.

Why are there horizontal lines in the sidewalk?

Apparently I was beaten to the punch on Meri's so her goes the next one. Scotty was too busy having an affair in the one working shuttle they had. You know those engineering chics, they can be kinda freaky like that. Between that and the duct tape the shuttle wasn't able to be prepped for launch.

Why are ignorant people so often blinded by their own incompetance? (work frustrations bleeding through... sorry)

Someone in the party does have additional information. Beyond that, here is some other answers.

It is possible to climb down. It wouldn't be an easy climb and it would be about 200' down. The group did not notice them on the cliffside when you searched around. And yes, I did assume you would do a general search of the area. Tracks end on the stone area. Along the cliff face is pretty much the same stone-like ground. Further from the cliff the ground softens.

I'm interpreting the "darkness" as a sort of mist that cleared as the bugbears arrived. I also would like to take this moment to say that whether they are an illusion or not shouldn't matter. After all, it is a training excercise.

Just a thought.

Subject: Actions

If you want to do anything during your time spent following the trails just post it here. i.e. rememorizing spells (For those who need to select their spells please let me know what you have chosen), conversation or anything else.

Also, if we don't hear from our druid friend by the next game update (Saturday) I am officially going to NPC his character.

I've also opened up the game for more potential players since we seem to have the occassional trouble as far as posting reliability. For those who apply I will work them into the story as necessary and able.

Thanks

Subject: Game Update

(Picking up from the last game update)

Kara moves slowly between trees trying to track your foes. She loses the trail several times, but after a thorough search of the area she always manages to pick it back up again. Through many twists and turns, and even stream crossings and re-crossings, you doggedly pursue what remains of the bandits.

(1 full day passes and part of the next while the trail is followed. Length of time determined by Survival/Tracking checks.)

All of a sudden the trail stops. No nearby trees show any signs of travel. The ground is hard here, being more rock than soil, so tracks are incredibly difficult to discern.

There is a small roll in the land, coming to a crest not far from you. General scouting of the area reveals that a shear cliff face severs the land only a few hundred yards past the hill in the direction you have been heading. The trees and undergrowth here are the same as any other part of the forest.

(Time to determine your next move.)

Steelight Shadowborne
RedWyrm Training Yard
Week 1 - Monday afternoon

(OOC: How many bugbears are there? Also, I'm not sure how we are doing combat so I'll do my best.)

The bugbears came forth filled with rage and anxious for battle, yet young Steelight was equally anxious. It had been quite a while since he had tested himself against so many foes, and even longer since he had so many allies. The true test. Now we shall see how worthy they are. He looks at the other students for a moment appraisingly, judging them by the weapons they carry.

"Goblin, Levanna, stay to the rear. Use your arrows and spells where you can. Briar, try not to get squashed and strike as you can, finshing any we drop. Darkon, with me and Ion... well, you know what to do."

With a grin he sets himself to receive the charge of the larger creatures. Slowly, with deep focus he falls into a defensive stance. As the first of the large creatures approaches his still form explodes into a flurry of movement, lashing out with two knife hand strikes against the first of the creatures. His first strike pierces the air towards the bugbear's throat as he steps slightly to his left to avoid the momentum of his charging foe.

(OOC: Unarmed Strike +3 (1d6+1 damage), Piercing attack, I'd like to use my Stunning Fist with the first strike. I'd also like to try a Sense Motive ( +8 ) check to judge their general strength against mine. If my first strike stuns I will do a trip attempt on the following round. If not, I will use flurry of blows (+1/+1) splitting my attacks between the first one I attacked and the next closest.)

Steelight Shadowborne
RedWyrm Training Yard
Week 1 - Monday afternoon

"Alright everyone. It looks like our Combat Instructor has been detained. I'm sure he will be here shortly as he is rarely late and never for very long. I would recommend you all put anything you have that you don't want broken or damaged over on the shelves there."

He points to the vacant shelving.

"For those of you with any combat experience at all, I would recommend warming up. These lessons have a tendency to take their toll."

Steelight wanders off a bit into the yard and begins a series of stretches, followed by a warm up routine of fluid attacks, blocks and maneuvers... all without any form of weapon.

I wonder how they'll do. Steelight thinks while watching the new students during his own warm ups. They have been anything but impressive thus far, but here is where the truth of their nature is shown. We shall see.

Subject: The DM

Actually, dwarves were only restricted in 2E. After that they pretty much removed the class restrictions.

And you are right Ion, to an extent. As you all have seen not everything is necessarily as it appears. The party is free to follow whatever path they wish and explore whatever part of the world they want. After all, there IS a whole new world to explore. However, everything you do has consequences. If you pursue the brigands with the only real lead you currently have one set of consequences will ensue (positive or negative). If you chose not to and abandon the pursuit (or seem to be abandoning it) another set of consequences will ensue. Just bear that in mind.

And the OOC post in the game thread was not intended to railroad or anything. I just wanted to make clear what you could logically expect to by Allyn's reaction to calling off an immediate pursuit, regardless of logic or reason.

I'm really hoping you all will have this figured out by Saturday night so I can actually update the game. If not it will have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest, perhaps next Saturday depending on posting.

Subject: A note from the DM

(OOC: The group has already pressed Allyn to the limits of his patience after promising to go after his daughter. For all he or you know she is in trouble (as the general signs initially indicated) and her life is now in danger. Chose to go back if you wish, but I will warn you that Allyn will most likely do everything in his power to make things difficult for you for "abandoning" his daughter. So bear that in mind when you decide a course of action. Also, every passing moment makes the trail harder to follow.)

I've updated the recruitment line to ask for a few new players (2-3). I'm also only going to be updating the game on Saturdays until we really get going again. I haven't seen Ion on at all for quite some time so I'm wondering if he has some extenuating circumstances.

I'd like the game to continue, even if I only have you two for the moment. So please continue posting. As people show interest I will attempt to work them into the story as we go, though your characters may have to be a bit more... accepting of the new characters than I would otherwise expect in order to make it work.

Hey everyone. I'm heading off to GenCon this year in August. A friend of mine (owner of Radiance House publishing) and I are going to be getting a booth, theoretically in the entrepenuer section. It's freakin' expensive! Anyway, I've never been to a convenstion before so I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me about ways to get people's attention. For decor I have planned a 3' x 4' full color map of the Realms of Twilight world and a table covering (about 3' wide) that has the Silver Crescent Publishing logo hanging down on the front of the table.

Also, I'm going to be writing a few relatively short adventures (approx. 20 pages each) set in various places in my world at the request of Dungeonmastering.com. If anyone has any suggestions for professional appearing mapping software (primarily indoor settings with the square grid) please let me know. Anyone who wants to try these adventures once they are written, also let me know. They will be in the Pathfinder rule set, so bear that in mind.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Our monster was never actually revealed. Mivara said earlier (in the Q&A) that her intention was shadow creatures led by a demon of some sort. Who knows what specifics she had in mind.
