"We'll be fine Sev. But thanks for your concern."

Lance smiles a bit sarcastically.

"I'm not as helpless as you may think."

That being said, he stepped out of the ruined ship and into the weather. The cold of the outdoors struck him immediately.

If we stay out here for long with nothing more than our clothes we'll freeze to death in short order. We've gotta find a way into the ship's engineering level.

He took off at a trot, hoping the activity would help to keep him warm for the short time (hopefully) they remained exposed to the elements. They (assumption) move quickly along the side of the crashed ship, searching for another of the escape hatches, or a section of ruined hull to enter.

A few minutes later, already partially covered by a bit of ice and snow an entrance presents itself. Lance looks around, trying to get his bearings based on the external hull.

"I think this might be another section of the crew quarters. Not ideal, but we can't stay out here too much longer. Maybe we can find a way from there to the medical bay or the engineering levels."

With cold and stiff fingers he goes to work on the keypad locking mechanism. Being one of the principal designers of the ship he remembered most of the access codes to any secured area... but the door wouldn't open.

"Hey, Quinten. The access code isn't working. You don't happen to have any manner of gear that could help us pry open the door do you?"

"Yes ma'am. But is that any way to talk to the only one who can fix and salvage any part of this ship? I would think that I am an asset to you and the survivors. And as long as I remain so, maintaining a certain level of civility would probably be more conducive to the team building process. Which is what you taught me when I volunteered to assist the security team was it not? Thank you for the compliment on my intelligence though."

Lance smiles sarcastically at the captain of the Security corp, then turns to Quinten.

"I think your right. Judging from the conduit configuration and the control panels, I would guess we are in the upper crew quarters. Which means we may, at least, be able to find a few blankets in the rooms."

He looks around for an exit that doesn't lead outside, but it would appear the any other passage out has been blocked by wreckage.

"Quinten, the sooner we can return with any hardware and supplies the better. Shall we go?"

He steps towards door and pokes his head out, looking around for the fastest way back into the ship, searching for another entrance that might give them access to more than just a small room that used to be a hallway.

I've got to figure out what happened. This couldn't have been a simple malfunction. There simply is no way our systems failed this completely without giving some warning sign first. Perhaps I can find a clue in our search for supplies.

"If you're heading out Quinten, I'll come with you. It's probably better to go in pairs for the moment until we get our bearings. It sounds like we mayhave to deal with scavengers. And I might be able to find a few components to get at least a part of this thing working again."

He gets up to his feet and stretches a bit.

"It seems nothing's broken, except my ship. That's good I suppose. Well Quinten, shall we?"

Lance groans once, grasping his head, then stands to his feet.

"What malfunction? Every diagnostic we were running, every test we had done came out perfectly? I don't understand."

Seeing his new commander likely to pummel him for this particualar line of questions (assumption here) he quickly diverted his mind to the question of heat.

"What sort of resources do we have? Do we have any fuel cells that are still charged? They generate a bit of heat in and of themselves. We could use those to stave off the cold for a bit until I can figure out a more permanent solution and perhaps get the environmental system back up and running. At least for a section of the ship."

His eyelids fluttered open, but everything was still hazy. The first thing that he felt (after the incredible pounding in his skull) was the chill of the air. He lay still for another few minutes trying to get his bearings and remember what happened.

We were scouting, and the ship was operating perfectly, just as we designed it... then suddenly we were crashing. What happened?

No answers would come from his memories it seemed. He groaned and tried to sit up, sending his world spinning across the cosmos. A fe moments later the world saw fit to steady itself once again and his slowly sat up.

"Wow... what happened...?" He said to himself.

He looked around, and recognized the security leader from the mission. He looked at her confused for a few seconds before asking her the same question that was cycling through his mind.

"Where are we?"

Honestly I don't think it matters. Though if we use the old one I would suggest you making a post with bold letters saying "New Game Starts Here." or something like that so it's eassier for those of us new to the game to keep things straight.

There is some artwork on my website. After the revamp this weekend you will be able to download the Table of Contents and the first few pages (telling what is in each chapter). I can send that to you if you wish. Beyond that, what else would you like to see? (Bear in mind that I obviously don't want to send out entire chapters and such).

Just let me know and I'll see what I can dig up for you.

Subject: Realms of Twilight Campaign Setting Available!

As most of you know I have been working on the Realms of Twilight Campaign Setting book for some time. Well, the book is done, and I have the first 50 copies in hand. It is not officially released until Sunday, but I wanted to offer those of you at the Inn a pre-release opportunity.

For those that aren't already familiar with the setting it is a world whose sun was hidden in an ancient ritual thousands of years ago. It is a world that history and legend mix, and shadows cover all the land. It consists of 5 continents, numerous civilizations, a few new prestige classes, a new core class called the Combat Alchemist, new spells, over 30 new deities and much more. It is written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rule set and is therefore compatible with the 3.5E OGL.

Unfortunately I can only do paypal right now (until I get my website set up this upcoming weekend) So if you want to order a copy send me an email with your name, address and the email that your paypal account is connected to and I will send you an invoice for the book. It is $40 + S&H ($9.95 is you want a single book).

Thanks everyone for your support as I've been working on this.

None of the knowledge skills any of you possess will yield anything significant about the symbol. However, general knowledge would reveal that it is likely the symbol of some merchant (meaning the merchant likely owns the whole of the warehouse, as opposed to just storing his stuff there).

Just so you guys know I will be converting all characters for this game over to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rule set. I'll also be posting the characters on the character thread. The SRD for Pathfinder can be found at www.d20pfsrd.com. This link will give you a number of the changes and such for the classes.

Kyara's Scout class will remain unchanged as it is not addressed in the Pathfinder books.

I'm finally getting a character thread up for this game. I would appreciate people NOT POSTING HERE. I will also be converting characters over to the Pathfinder rule set. This change won't be instantaneous and will likely be relatively transparent to you guys except the addition of new abilities. The link to the Pathfinder SRD is www.d20pfsrd.com.

You find an available coach with little effort. It isn't something a rich merchant would ride in, but it will suffice for your purposes. (I have subtracted 5 gold pieces from Almerin for the ride/rental).

Using the map, you also locate the warehouse without much problem.

Skit gets out a few blocks away from the warehouse, under the guise of stopping to visit a food vendor's booth. After gazing over some of the mouthwatering meats that are steaming on the grill he manages to pull himself away and slip into an alley.

(I will be discussing actions with Dakarta, who can come back and report to the group, hopefully no later than Sunday.)

As Dain doesn't know how to get out of this place, having found his way here through no intentions of his own, he is stuck having to follow the intentions of his rescuers until he at leat knows the way out.

So... I guess the decision is really up to you Jozan.

It was not in his nature to be trusting. He placed trust in his rescuers because they had set him free. But the two newcomers were a different story. What are the chances that so many khords would suddenly come into the ankheg den? It just didn't make sense.

"If you guys want to wait for them, feel free. But don't let your guard down. There is something about them I don't trust."

(If we are waiting...)

Dain gently places the damsel on the floor, making sure not to let her head hit the floor hard. Then he pulls his axe back out of its sling on his back. He would be ready if these dwarves were anything other than what they appeared.

(If not...)

Dain carries the girl over his shoulder, following his rescuers as they head out.

Topic: Realms of Twilight - A Journey Begins
Subject: An angry merchant

Allyn snatches the sealed envelope from you hand.

"Are you saying my daughter ENJOYS being a prisoner of a sadistic bastard? What sort of tramp do you take her for!?!"

His face begins to turn red as his anger builds. He opens his mouth as if to say something more, but shuts it again and tears into the letter, breaking the seal and pulling the parchment from the envelope. He reads for a moment and his facial expression slowly changes. He seems to visibly calm as he addresses the group again.

"With all of the lies and deceit that has been going on of late I can only hope that you are not among the deceivers. This letter asks for one thousand peices of gold for Jocelyn's release. Recompense for her purchase price so it says. I have no choice but to pay it. However, it will take time to gather the necessary funds, and I would rather you not stay in my home until that time comes. I can recommend lodgings for you if you wish. I will contact you when the arrangements have been made. Now, if you please, leave me in peace."

He motions towards the doorway, indicating (obviously) that you should leave the house. He then folds the letter once again and places it back in the envelope, before tucking it into his shirt pocket.

(His recommendations for lodging, should someone ask, is the Twining Vine Inn, here in the merchant's district. It is rather pricy (at 5 gold per night, plus food, firewood, or any other ammenity) but the accomodations are much better quality than adventurers like yourselves are used to.)

Topic: ~Shards of Cyre~ Q&A
Subject: Grr'Nak Description

Grr'nak is a begbear with no class... take that as you will. He is relatively small for one of his kind, but still large and well-built by human standards. His body is covered with scars from the various trials and punishments he has endured in pursuit of his goal. The hair that covers his body is mostly blackin color, but is shot through with silver, leading some to believe him to be late in his years. His attitude and the rest of his physique indicate no such thing. His is strong, swift and agile, as he has trained to be.

For clothing he generally wears a simply black or gray tunic and loss fitting breeches. Only rarely does he wear footgear. No symbol or crest adorns his clothing, nor does he seem to have any other sign of a clan or other organization he might belong to.

His demeanor is very aggressive. He doesn't seem one to take insults lightly, nor does he seem to be the most patient creature.

Is that acceptable Loki?
