Xaris came down the stairs wearing very much the same clothes as last night. Although he did clean them and set them out to dry after he had taken his bath, so they were not dirty what so ever.

He took the steps slowly, and as he came into view of the party downstairs, he had seen just about everyone had gathered. He sighed and knew what was about to come was going to hurt, so before he headed over he went to a maid and ordered a lunch of bread, a salad with all sorts of vegetables and cheese, and a tall glass of milk.

After ordering he headed over, some people spotting him before others, his greyish green skin and short height making him slightly more easier to conceal around the furniture.

He stood next to Artanis, and gave her a worried glance. He wondered how the rest of them would react. He cleared his throat and looked slightly down.

" Hello everyone, I'm glad to see everyone awake, and safe. But as you all are wondering I'm sure a few of us are missing. I'm also sure that one thought may have crossed our minds, one you dare not believe in, but yes it's true." Xaris took a deep breathe and continued, looking to Artanis. He hoped she was ready to hear it as much as he hoped everyone else was. " Loriel and Kas will not be with us anymore. They died last night."

Xaris winced slightly at that last sentance, and held his tongue for any comment that might fly next. He hoped Artanis wouldn't be to mad at him for being blunt. But it was just how Xaris was. Being what he was death was just another part of the cycle in which he had always experienced. The only thing he wished could of been different was the circumstances that it all came under. He knew they deserved a better death.

Xaris chuckled at the comment of him always having the right potion. He wished he did not even need to use them, but he did. And he was glad that he could always be there to help. He nodded in agreement at the proposition of Talus traveling with them, and also going back to the inn, a drink sounded good. He started to walk with Artanis and Talus, when she turned to him and spoke about not mentioning this to the rest of their friends until morning. " That would most likely be wise." Xaris agreed wholesomely.
He walked with her to the table and sat next to Artanis while she drank, his hands both wrapped around a drink, elbows on the table. He twiddled his fingers and tapped the glass, thinking about the day gone by. If only I would of gone with them, maybe I could of saved one of them. I should of gone instead of talking down that angry farmer. At least I did something good..... so much for my vow of protection...

Xaris took a long drink from his glass and set it down resting his head on his folded arms on the table, and sighed. He picked his head up and looked at Artanis, and spoked softly.

" I know how it feels, Being the only one left. I've been through the same situation. You did good today saving that child. If you stayed back, you would of died too...."

Xaris smiled as Artanis regained her strength, and said that he did not need to worry about her. He was glad that she was alright, but was deeply saddened that his friends were lost. But now is not the time to grieve, that would be for later. She thanked him for the potion, then turned to the newcomer and spoke out.

“My name is Artanis. This is Xaris. It was two of our companions, Kasenerrion and Loriel, that were claimed by that fire.”

Xaris nodded and stood, only reaching to waist height of the man. Artanis seemed to about to speak about his question of going and retrieving another potion when the mother of the baby appeared and took the baby. She seemed quite happy that "Mariebelle" was now back in her arms, but then was shocked to realize that two of the three had died. She quietly left the scene.

“I’ll come with you to get those potions. I don’t think I can be of any assistance until I’ve had at least one more of your potions.”

Xaris nodded again and smiled helping Artanis get up, helping her to the tavern. They went up into his room and he took out a cure serious wounds potions, and handed it to her.

" Here, drink this. It should make you feel a whole lot better." Xaris watched as Artanis drank the potion, then walked back to the fire with her after securing everything else in his pack, making sure it was there. Then he headed back out with his shortsword and thats when the man spoke out to Artanis.

"You seem to be well on the road to recovery. That gnome friend of yours...Zoris?... either has quite the knack for the healing arts or has several more of those potions stashed away somewhere. I'm sorry for earlier. I did not mean to be rude and ignore you, I was... lost in thought. My name is Talus Er... just Talus. I admire your bravery in running into a burning building to save the child of a perfect stranger. You don't see that kind of selflessness much anymore. Forgive me being so bold, but I wondered if I might impose and ask to travel with you and your companions for a time? Not that I'm, uh, trying to replace the friends that you just lost... it's that I just... Well and, and you... ...you know, nevermind. Bad timing, sorry. Forget that I asked."

Xaris looked up to him.

" Do not worry, I think it is ok if you accompany us for now. The fire seems to be dieying down and traveling alone at night in such a city could be dangerous. We would need to inform the others at what happened. Also, my name is Xaris. Nice to meet you.

Xaris dropped the vial onto the ground and let it roll away. He held Artanis until she sat up slightly to speak, apparent the potion was working through her.He watched as she spoke his name, then Loriel and Kas, and looked into the fire. He knew what must of happened, the worst thing he imagined come true. He looked down and closed his eyes, thinking of them and remembering their faces, never to be forgotten. He heard her speak something about a man named Jethro, and he remembered that name too. Hopefully he died somewhere along the line. One of his friends getting him or the fire.

" Don't get up to fast now Artanis, let the mending work it's way through. Your still pretty hurt."

He looked up to the man holding the baby, and then watched as he handed it off to Artanis, then went off to help with the water brigade. He could only sit and watch the commotion around him.

" I could get get more potions Artanis, or we could try to get you out of here now. Your call."

So this was their new code. Piscivorus. He wondered what that call sign meant and now he knew. He listened to Carrigan speak and he smiled as she mentioned that they were the best of the best and that they would be dealing with secret missions and jobs. He was glad that she took him from those ranks and put him here. He could do things the way he needed to, get the job done any way needed, just as long as the orders were complete.

“These are your badges. Do not lose them or I cannot be responsible for what might happen to you if you are captured. With this seal comes the full authority of the Inquisition. Abuse my power and I will execute you, now get the frak out of my chambers!”

Ghustel turned and walked back to his quarters, getting ready to prepare his weapons and gear. Once he returned his slipped on the rest of his outfit and slung his sword over his shoulder. He strapped his shotgun and other various weapons into their respected areas, and as soon as he clicked his heels together and looked at himself in the mirror the call for them come down to deck rang out. He turned, and looked back into his room. He might not come back into this room ever again, or he might actually survive this next bout of orders. He didn't know. But what he knew was that he had a mission to do and that he was needed to get it done right. He closed the door behind him and walked down the hall.

Loda and Gothard stayed the night in their own room alone, drinking the last of their ale. They needed a drink together and the feud of the party had upset them both. Alone they both sat on the bed they would eventually sleep on, drinking the memories of the past battle, the entire village being slaughtered, the fights and close calls of loved ones near death all away like many heart wrenched souls do when they feel like numbing themselves to the world. It was only Her, Gothard, and the earth; all in sync together, feelings mingling and pain dispersed amongst all three of them. The great weight lifted off of the forest had gladdened Loda and in return her nightmares that spawned within her mind were devoured by the great spirits of the woods, easing her pain just like she did for them. That night was peaceful and the next morning she woke with Gothard, both wild haired and ready to go eat their morning meal.

The question that had lingered in the back of their collective minds were about to be answered; where to go now. They needed to have a decision, and up till this point they did not talk. The tests that they have just endured still pressed them but now they needed to throw off those feelings and come to a consensus on what to do. Loda spoke out.

" I say we head straight for the mountains. We got the supplies we needed from the last city and I rather we just try to get to these damned mountains. Enough detours."

Xaris walked down the street in a hurried strut as he seen the flames of the fire grow closer and closer. He broke out into a sprint down the street as a great fireball blew out the second floor. His short sword flying wildly at his side, and a potion gripped firmly in his hand, he bolted down the street to a large crowd of people. He waded his way through the crowd and made his way up front just in time to see Artanis laying on the street, people around her. One person grabbed the baby from her hands and spoke out.

"Someone give me a hand here! It looks like she's got bones broken is several places, but I'm not sure. Be very careful when you move her."

Xaris ran up to Artanis's side and got on his knees, bringing himself close to her head. He looked into her sobbing face, and knew the worst had happened. All he could do was grit his teeth and hold back tears as he uncorked the potion and held it to her lips.

" This will make you feel better, drink it. We'll get you out of here Artanis, you'll be alright."

Xaris tried to hold back the tears of anguish as he imagined the worst fate for his friends, and slowly fed his friend and ally the potion, making sure she got every last drop.

Xaris looked at the old farmer, and then thought of something. He smiled and then nodded towards the man Mr. Winters.

"Here, follow me to my room so I can give you the items which you deserve. It will make up for the loss."

( if he agrees)

Xaris walks up to his room with the man through the crowded tavern, and opens the door. Seeing everything in it's place he headed to his javelins, and took one of his new Master Work javelins.

" Here, if you sell this you should get more than enough back in crowns. Also take this."

Xaris bent down and took one of the cure light wounds potions, and handed it to the man.

" you could sell this or keep it for when anyone you know is injured. It will seal up wounds and close up nasty burns. But I must go now, I am getting worried for my friends, I have not seen them in a while."

Xaris walked to his dresser and strapped his shortsword to his waste, and stuffed one of the cure light wounds potions in his pocket, and headed out the door. He followed Mr. Wintersout and hastily walked down stairs and out towards the fire, seeing if his friends were alright.

Lheriel headed for the door to see what he could do about finding a way to get to these Krim mountains. He looked back to the group to speak out his thoughts.

" I'm going to try an head out to get a map to these mountains. We should meet up at the gates of town in a few hours time so we could get supplies and provisions. I'll try an find us the shortest route out of here to Portluck."

They walked down the building and came to the entrance of the church. Jeskell looked over to Lheriel.

" I'm going to try an get some arrows for the coming expedition. I'll meet you at the gates."

" Alright, that sounds good. See about getting some rope also. Might need that."

Lheriel started to head to the nearest general store, asking around when needed to see about a map. Jeskell headed off in the other direction to get some arrows and rope, likewise asking people if he does get turned around in this new city.

Don't blame me for that, I don't think Xaris could of survived that either. He might of gone down with the house also, and died. But I am sorry that I couldn't get in there with ya this time to try an kill that insane guy. But I only could of seen Xaris dieying along with them...

BUT who knows, maybe Xaris could of lopped off his head or something and everyone could of jumped from the window >.<
