Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis
Subject: alright, back into the swing of things....

Loda waited at the south eastern edge of Birchroot, waiting for this so called monstrous badger to appear. Gothard lay next to her, vigilintly watching for anything and everything. They both were content with the ale that they had before they left, and was ready to fight anything that came her way.

Soon though she heard leaves and twigs crunching underfoot, and it seemed to be coming closer, and very fast. She reached for her axe and shield, but sighed as it was only Lanelion, one of the residents of the town.

He ran right up to her, his face as white as freshly sheered sheep wool.

"It's coming this way, it's coming this way I tell you!"

He shook her shoulders hard, and Loda yelled out for her allies to hunt this beast down. Soon they were tracking the beast where Lanelion had seen it, a clear path of broken branches and things layed out before them.

Malius sunk into the ground, and the beastly creature burst from the ground. Mud and dirt matted in its fur, and bone pieces jutted from its boy. This wasnt a normal badger. This wasnt even a normal dire badger. Something was tampering with nature, and this enraged Loda. If the stories of what the townsfolk had told them about the other animals were true, then somethign was wrong here. Something for than the eye can see.

But they needed to take care of this now, and Malius was already badly damaged, they retaliated against the beast. Alyssia Lightning bolted it, and Thondrek attacked it multiple times, it was her turn now to try an help.

" Gothard, get behind the beast and attack it, it's better than charging it from the front! I have just the thing that will help us out."

Loda set her weapon to her side and started to pray, and waved her hands gently infront of her. A small orange ball of fire started to grow in her hands, whisps of flames licking off of it as it grew bigger and bigger as she prayed. Soon she raised her hands in the air and a very large ball of fire hovered above her. She pointed her finger at the badger, and the ball of fire moved towards it, hurling itself onto the beast.

( Loda will cast flaming sphere, and direct it to attack the badger, and every turn as a free action i will direct it to attack the badger too. if this takes multiple turns to cast, on the second turn I'll heal Thondrek, and direct the flaming sphere to attackt he badger again.)

Loda watched as the breif conversation went on infront of her.
Draven had spoken out against the actions she had taken.

“Perhaps the two of you should ease up on the dwarf-swill, instead of being so eager to get back to drinking. Or did you volunteer our services without my consent? We’ve not heard of your problem, sir. We simply happen to be passing through.”

The elder looked back at the group and was obviously dissapointed.

“So… so… you were not sent by the farmers to help kill the badger? But your… comrades here…. they seemed willing enough to help, right? Please, I beg you. You carry weapons and scars of experience. Help us out. We cannot wait another week. Who knows when he’s going to appear next!”

Thondrek, who was on her side in this decision, spoke out.

"Bah, Draven they gots a pest problem. 'ow 'ard can one wee lil badger be? Tearin thru the trash no doubt eh? Look we be passin through anyways, why not possibly 'elp the poor git, and mebbe line our pockets with new provisions or some gold for the next leg of the journey? I say tell me of yer badger problem, and then we'll decide our course, I figure since we be 'ere anyways, it's not too out o the question to look into it if'n it won't take too long."

Alyssia, who had been quiet this entire time, finally spoke on the matter, putting it three against one.

"I concur. We should help this village even if it does not lead to us lining our pockets. If it wouldn't be too much pain, could I get a change of garments. Mine have gotten torn on our journey here. I cannot speak for my companions, but I will be glad to help you without any compensation expect for a bed to sleep in and some food to line my stomach."

After eveyone had seemed to be done speaking, Loda finally opened her mouth and added her thoughts, again.

" Draven, I do not remember any of us needing your consent to do anything, especially help some syl's who need it. Obviously they are in dire stress, and the help they have asked for is late."

She looks back at the elder, and smiles at him, and steps forwards a bit.

" Well, ya see, we're not really the people you are looking for. But that does not mean we should deny every person looking for help! We'll certainly help you out. And I am, one of the circle. A druid you would call. As you can see, this here is Gothard."

She pats Gothard on his head as his tongue flops out and tail starts to wag.

" I am not one of the woods though, but one of the underground, the caverns and tunnels of below. So if it is a badger problem you have, we might not have to even spill any blood, especially the ones of hapless animals. But I am curious, how would a badger be so much of a problem that you are forced to hire sell swords? Havent you tried talking with it or trapping it to locate it somewhere else? That would be the most sensible thing to do.

Loda walked briskly along, her feet gliding over the worked paths that were laid out before them. She smiled as she watched the people around here work and go through their daily rituals, but her attention quickly was diverted to the cows on the other side of them. Their constant mooing and random clusters laying together.

There couldnt be any stranger animal than cows, they fascinate me!

She watched them graze constantly, and tried to follow the cud that it swallowed back down through its four stomachs, but couldnt remember where exactly they all were.

Soon enough though, being distracted by the spotted beasts, they were entering into the forest. She liked the forest, not as much as she liked a good cave or canyon, but still, they were nice.
As quickly as they entered they could start to see tree houses and the people who live amongst them. Right before them on the path was one of them, a man who looked to be well aged, just like the trees around them were.

“You must be the sell-swords that come to deal with our problem? The human farmers said you guys wouldn’t be here in a week! My gratitude for making haste.”

Loda smiled and looked around the group, and watched Thondrek step up before anyone else.

"That be us, solvin problems and home by fourth-meal. So, first the ale, then the details and we can get down te business."

She spoke up from behind him, and gave a wry smile while doing so.

"Yes! Ale sounds like the right thing about now, my skin is just about empty, but if you show me to your supplies, I could brew us up some fine drink! Show ya what some freshly made dwarven ale really is!"

If I was playing the cleric, thats how I would of played the character, especially if he had just fallen. But a love interest, for a cleric? he should of been a bard or something if he is willing to risk his life for a lady, knowing full well theres a good chance he might die, and not to repent for his bad sins. And also, i agree on you with the falling thing. theres a reason why he is the god of light and LIFE . Not god of light and kill all prison guards.

I think thats a great way for a fallen cleric to die. He wanted to repent his sins and make it up to his gods, thinking if he survived that he will get it back maybe, and if not, he served his purpose.

Subject: back to camp!

Loda ran up to where she last remembered Gothard and Draven were. But all that was there was a shroud of mist and total darkness. She looked around frantically, wondering what could of happened to them, and what was with this mist!?!

But soon it quickly dissipated, and out came both of them. Draven walked by her, quickly and briskly, seemingly undeetered by the fountains of blood that pooled at every foot step.

She looked around at his passing, and spotted Thondrek close by.

Now where was he for the whole night?

But his voice rang out and dissrupted her thoughts.

"Well, let us join our brothers and sisters in arms, that we may rest and move on from here."

She looked at him and smiled back happily.

" That sounds like a wonderful idea, but first I must get my little Gothard, he looks like he's been kicked by a mule!"

Gothard though looked like he had inhaled to much pipe smoke, and was sitting there, dazed and confused.

"Gothard, Gothard!"

She yelled his name, and soon he snapped out of his gaze and followed her again. Glad that her companion was safe and by her side, she had something else to worry about. Even though he kept to himself most of the time, he still was an important part of their group, and a person.

" Draven wait, I know you dont like to talk much, but you do need seom healing. Now come here before I make you!"

Loda runs over to where Draven has made his seat under the tree, following his steps and sounds. When she approaches him, she does not care what he does, she will try an help him, if she doesnt, he will die.

" Now just sit tight and dont complain."

Loda will start to cast Cure Light Wounds on Draven, then after she is done with the spell, cast another Cure Light wounds.

Loda brought her hands very close Draven, and started to silently chant words that were unknown even to his ears. They were words that very few people ever hear in their lifetime, and if they did, it wasnt always for the better. The words flowed freely and quickly from her mouth, and as soon as it started, it was over. White and green whisps of magic flowed over Draven, and soon she started chanting again, the words familiar to the ones that were spoken moments before.

When she was done casting her spells, she backed off, and took a deep breath, slightly drained the expendeture so sudden and quick.

" Now there, you should'nt drop dead by the end of the night now. Good Night Draven."

Loda turned and started walking back to camp with Gothard, patting him on the head as he nudged her leg, or more likely, the ale skin next to it.

Subject: Just happened earlier today actually...

Well, it happened in my friends long running campaign. He DM's for my brother and I, and my brother plays a 13th lvl Barbarian Warforged. We both started the campaign at level one, and my first character was a lvl 1 Shifter Rogue. Well as we got stronger, he was a Chaotic evil assasin/rogue, and we were crossing this bridge down in some big caverns( by the way, we play in eberron) and a halfling jumped out in front of us in the middle of the bridge yelling " I've got a riddle for you! You need to answer it before you cross!" And my character was majorely pissed off by a previous encounter, so he stabbed him with a dagger. Now the dagger My character had was a cursed weapon, with every succesful hit forcing the enemy to roll a DC 14 fortitude save, and if fail, all thier organs melted into an acidy goo. same happened with Natural 20's. now if it went over 100 feet away, the hand i wield it in melted away in same goo. Now i stabbed him, and he failed, then rolled over the edge dieying. we crossed the bridge, very satisfied at this, and then met the halflings friend. A hill Giant. he said, " You kill friend, you die now!" we battled, and my brother, being CN, decided to stay out of the battle, because it wasnt his problem. So me and the giant squared off, and i was about to die, when this troll came out stopping it, and permited us to pass. Then, me being CE, passed behind the giant and snuck attacked him, with 6d6 or 7d6, i forget. I failed all three attacks. Then i was presumed to be picked up by the giant, chewed, and stuffed in his pants. I lost a leg, arm, fingers, chunks of flesh, and many other things. I was spat out onto the ground, and then the tribe of barbarians we had saved earlier, healed my bleeding wounds, and then he stayed with them for the remainder of his life. That character was Ivellios.

Then, I made a Character named Grumber Ubada. He ended up being a 12th lvl fighter. After Fighting in a series of wars for Breland, Grumbar and Dorn ( my bros character) were being given the Medal of Valor, and campaign stripes for helping win the final battle and many others, when Grumbar( who is a hobgoblin) was approached by a hidden figure, and spoke to him in goblin. He was a hob goblin too. his name was sith, and he said the time was now. The time to over throw the ruling government of Darguun ( the goblin nation) was needed to happen. Grumbar was the rightful heir to the throne, but the current ruler slaughtered his family and took the throne for himself. So Grumbar was given 10k gold to raise a mercenary army, and start a war with Darguun. He raised many mercs, and then recieved help from Breland, Carnithi, A major orc tribe, and elven pirates. But after having his total merc army destroyed in a major battle, he and dorn, with 250 soldiers were holding off a keep when Breland arrived with the main army, and broke the seige/battle. Then they marched to the capital, and over threw it. ( aldo Darguun was a province of Breland before it was taken by lesh, the Darguunian leader. so they want it) and so Grumbar was then given a choice. Rule Darguun and bring peace to the nation, or keep on adventuring. he ( being I) chose to rule, and so his adventuring ended right there. This was one of the best characters I made. He had three attacks, +20, +15, +10. He had a +2 vorpal Longsword, and did 1d8+10 per attack with a critical range of 17-20. he kicked butt with his sword. He once vorpaled off the head of a mountain troll. and then my brothers fiery great axe finished it. Easily one of my favorite characters.

Then, I made a new character. A 13th level Sorcerer. he is a half elf, and I made him earlier eoday. Dorn and him ( I forgot his name >.<) met in a guild that hunted epic monsters. They were teamed together to take ona Kraken that was harassing many fishing ships, and they were fighting it, when the kraken tiped the ship and was swallowing many peopel. so we needed to make a DC 15 reflex save. easy for lvl 13. I needed a 5 or higher. Rolled a 2. I was then grappled and being chewed on. Dorn kept slashing him with his giant fiery great axe, and I kept firing lightening bolts with the feat maximize spell down his throat, which meant I did 78 damage automatically, if i could beat his spell resistance, which I could do easily being lvl 13. ( we werent sure on how to do spell resistance, so we said +1 on versus his spell resistance per caster level ) Then the kraken, with 3 of those empowered lighting bolts, and many axe hits at it, then it finally killed me. I had 36 health left, and it rolled a double, and got max damage. it did 39. I was dead. Dorn finished it off with his next attack coupled with my previous Chain lightning spell, and he stabbed it with the before mentioned dagger, and rolled a 20, instantaneously turning it to goo. He went out, grabbed my body, and went back to the guild and got me ressurected. I died, but then came back. One of the most annoying ones ever. I am damned to have my revenge on the next monsters. Which we jsut got a quest to take out the last of the Lycanthropes up north. The silver flame need help, and need ours.

Also, we call this campaign, " The Dorn Saga" and compare it to Star wars. our Dm had told us the comparisons, but i forgot. and its called dorn saga, because he has been the one constant that is the same through out the game.

Firewind stood there listening to the conversation going on. He hefted the limp body on his shoulder, it sliding off slightly due to the rain and her being dead weight and all.
Soon Gun fire broke out and a decision was going to be made quick. A plan was brought up and he was to bring her down to the parking lot to the south, with the cover fire of Digital with his newly acquired Sub Machine Gun. Firewind started to move to climb down the stairs, hoping to get to the ground level before the fire fight was brought to them. he had his pistol at his side, ready if he needed it. He tried to move fast enough to get down there, and slightly ran down the slick stairs, hoping to not fall. He really wanted to beat the firefight, thinking that its better for her to take a little fall than to get shot up by mistake.

( I will attempt an athletics check to move faster down the stairs.)

When I meant religion stuff, I just meant my character is very devoted to his religoin, not that he has clerical powers. I was just wondering if it would be alright, since it is a barbarian with not so savage blood thirsty background.
