Loda gritted her teeth and grabbed her axe, lunging from her seat, slashing at the man who betrayed their trust that they had given him.

" Gothard! Kill this man! rip his throat out!"

She was madder than all the hells itself. She wielded her axe in two hands, trying to bring the axe down into his chest. It wasnt the fact that he betrayed their trust, it was mainly that he dare attack the most innocent person in their group, Alyssia. A person who was willing to give up their own personal time and assistance to mend some wounds, and she was caught off guard. She was relieved though that her magical armour had saves her. Now the bastard will die for his betrayal. She smiled when Gothard lunged in next to her, both battling with the great ferocity of nature. Now one of the long held rules of nature will be practiced. Never fight alone.

( I'll try an hold the weapon in two hands, getting the 1 1/2 strength bonus. Also sry for the lame one liners lol.)

Loda had been walking all day with her fellow companions, and had been glad when they made camp for the night. She pulled out her water flask, and looked at it, wishing it was something more satisying, like ale. She had drank her last drop of it earlier while walking. It does get kinda hot under that sun ya know. So she poured out some water in a little dish for Gothard, and split her rations with him, and they sat there, eating and enjoying the sparking fire through the blackness of the night. But soon, their quiet sanctuary was dissrupted by an old man, all dressed in black, hobbing down the path they had just frequented only hours ago.

" Hello there! Care for some company? I’ve been walking all day and hadn’t had anything to eat for hours. I’d appreciate some of that dry meat of yours.”

Loda cocked one eye as she spotted the very thick blanket draping across his shoulder.

How could someone with a limp carry something like that for hours on end? This guy's messed up, I wonder whats going on here...

Soon after that little thought crossed her mind, Draven stood, unsheathed his sword.

"Keep an eye on the coger."

After that he ran off into the bush next to us, obviously thinking something horrendous was about to happen. Loda rolled her eyes at the over reacting that Draven was doing, most likley upsetting out guests slightly, making it even more likely that something bad was going to happen.

Then a slight movement to her left caught her eye. It was Alyssia praying, and then getting up to greet the newcomer.

"Welcome to our fire. You may have my share of the meal. And if you did not mind, I would like to take a look at you leg; there may just be something I could do for you."

She was welcoming the old man to the circle, and giving him a portion of her meal.

Loda just sat there, sipping away at her water and breaking off peices of her meal as she ate them, watching this. But she also dragged her war axe closer to her right side, out of view of the old man, but within reach just incase anything did really happen.

Loda woke up, and shook Gothard as she seen the servant who just tried to wake her leave the room in disgust of her deep sleeping. She waited till she left, and then hurried on her clothes, and went down stairs, where she suprisignely was not late.

She was not hungry since of all the food she ate last night, but she picked up an apple or two for the walk out of here anyways, just because apples are her thing.

She checked all her gear and made sure she had everything, and decided to keep her gold and not buy anything, for she had all the things she needed right there. The only thing that was off that morning was the note from Tobin, which promplty read that he was leaving, for one of the roads cannot stay to long on one path. She smiled, and thought of the funny little rolls and what not he always did, and what mischief he was causing now. She appreciated his help, and was glad that he had fulfilled what he had wanted to do, and now as off, maybe to help another party of adventureres, or maybe to feed some cows. Who knew with him. All she knew was that there was one less person in their party, and the most entertaining member was gone. She set the letter back down and walked outside the building, and looked around, deciding to meet the rest of the group up at the ground entrance. She felt much more comftorble, even if she was a dwarf, ubove ground, where her druidic knowladge and skills would be more likely suited.

Loda returned well relieved of her personal problems, but still a little weary of the helper that Guland had sent with her. He kept insisting that he go in with her, whether it was to make sure she didnt steal anything, or just get anything over all dirty, she didnt know, but with a little " convincing", she got her way.

Taking her seat at the table, she caught the tale end, and the most important part of the conversation.

"You will travel through the Sylvari kingdom of Alloryen. It’s the fastest way to the Chakran Mountains. When the Chakrandrum were still alive, their existed a portal, that linked the two cities directly. It was created when the Syl’s and our races were at war. It was just another trade route, really. When the Chakrandrum died, so did the portal. It is now hidden in darkness, in the Warrens of Rvisthorn. I don’t know why I’m telling you this. It is of no use to you. Many Khords have tried to restore its power, but alas… You will have to take the long route.”

Malius, the elf that was at the other end of the table, decided he had to comment on something. She looked at him and thought to her self that he kind of likes hearing himself talk, all this nonsense of evil and things like that, everything has a little evil in them, and good too. Its just the way nature is.

“Good dwarf I caution thee to first gain the approaval of the elves themselves, for traveling as such without that may be considered by them as a trespass."

Grim spoke up too, adding in his thoughts on the whole thing.

“I would not ask approval. Whether the elves approve or not, this quest must go forward. However, an alliance for the common good might be usefu.”

But Malius's words seemed to please the dwarf Guland, as he agreed and thought out something to make it to his advantedge.

“Yes. Alright, I will contact the elves. But I will not tell the goal of our mission. I will not share your destination, and neither will any of you, should you encounter any of them. I’ll let them think you are escorting my merchandise to a small human settlement on the other side of their kingdom. We must not tell them the real reason, for they will either try to stop you, or want a share, in return for safe passage. I trust that none of you will open up to them. They are not as honourable as you would perceive them to be.”

With that Guland motioned to all of the food and beverage on the table, and spoke with a smile.

“You have hardly eaten anything. Please, you must not have had a decent meal in some time.”

Loda smiled as she did realize she was quite hungry. She piled up two big turkey legs, a slice of ham, and a half of loaf of bread, and tossed it on the floor. Quickly Gothard scampered over and started to eat. Loda filled a bowl full of ale and shared it with him, thinking now would be a good time as ever since they coudl get a warm meal. She gathered up a bundle of grapes, three chicken breasts, a loaf of bread, and a bowl of nice thick stew for herself, and a nice tall glass of some of that fine ale also. She feasted and ate hardy that night, and took out her wooden pipe, lighting it up, taking in the pleasures of the thick smoke along with the delicious foods.

( After this she is just going to go to bed, but i didnt want to post that incase anyone spoke or anything)

Subject: Jozan

If you ever wanted to know why I have my name Jozan ( I doubt it but just incase) It was from my very first DnD character, Jozan. He was a ready out of the box character that I spelled wrong, ( his real name being Josan) and that I played him up till level nine. Well I kind of got bored of wandering around in this giant pyramid we were in, and I hit a support beam. I said he went slightly crazy/mad and had his holy mace from Pelor, and hit a beam. Well that beam decided it should fall and instantly kill my character. no rolls or anything. Now the roof collapsed, buy my brothers elven fighter, Elfli, crawled out alive, with his twin golen scimitars, and then the campaign ended there. I was kind mad, no rolls, no saves, no word, just...smoosh.

As Loda stood there in the room, she eyed everyone, making notes on everyone there.

" That ones, tall, dat one over there is quite the stud, maybe I'll go with him for a drink later..."

A little smile spread on her face as she finally realised, now, in fresh linens and a nice bath, how handsome he was. As this last thought went into her head, a new figure, the one they've all been waiting for, burst through the doors, wiping any and all bliss she was just experiencing.

"My friends, I’m sorry I’ve kept you waiting. Please accept my apologies. I am Guland Granitefiners and I welcome you into my home. Ah, Geimiedefher, good to see you’ve made it in time once more! What say you all if we head for the dining room together and do what people mostly do in that area of the house?”

On that note he quickly raised a rag to his nose, and the foul stench of urine reached her nose almost at the same time. She just smiled and thought of Gothard and his funny little antics, and then realized she needed to use the restroom herself. But before they could go anything, they were hurried off into the Dining hall in the blink of an eye. She had barely enough time to call out to Gothard to hurry up, or he would of been shut out of all this important meeting stuff. Companions need to know these things too.

As they walked the many scents and smells of finely cooked food, ancient dusty tapestries, and the faint hint of alcohol loomed all about. As they walked closer the smells got stronger, and the sights got more magnifacent. They were so strong she could pick out the certain herbs they used to cook easily. Parsely, certain mints, garlics and onions, all very strong. Must be hard to get those down here into an underground city. This man was very wealthy indeed.

They finally entered a room with one long table that was littered with many shiny porceline dishes, metallic wares, and a wall full of the brew loomed over the entire thing. She looked more closely at the barrels, noting that they were very exellent brands, how deep was this guys pockets?

Taking a seat near the brew, she squirmed as she felt natures call coming on even stronger, and patted Gothard on the head as he panted on her lap. She grabbed and pulled on her long braided hair and played with it as the handsome one she was eyeing earleir sat relatively near her. As he took his seat, she stared at him a little bit, day dreaming about him and what they might do later on. She smiled as the images ran through her head all at once. She was happy now that they are in a city, relaxed and clean, that she can find the time to contemplate things like this. She loved doing this, next to drinking of course. She dreamed a little bit longer and watched as their names floated away twisting together as one. Loda Ironcage, and Throndrek Runecaster.
how did I start to feel this way towards him? Was it from being around him so much? Probably, I wonder if he likes to drink, maybe I'll make him something later on....
She snapped back to reality quickly as Guland stood by his chair, and began to speak.
"By now you must be very anxious to learn what it is that I want from you. I’ve paid you handsomely just to come here, and I thank you all for answering my call. The fact of the matter is that I’m forming a kind of expedition. I will not lie to you. There could be some serious danger involved in this search, but also great reward.”
Quickly a servant came and handed him a book.
“This tome was recently discovered. It is written in draconic, and tells of the invasion of Chakranna. As you may know, this city was once a beautiful Chakrandrum settlement until goblins and ogres raided it and wiped out our brothers for good. This happened long ago, but there are hints in this tome that something was hidden; something the goblins and ogres were looking for. If I’m assuming correctly, the Chakrandrum hid their most precious of items and knowledge when they were attacked. Your mission will be to find this secret place, and retrieve whatever it is that is hidden there. I’m sure you understand what it would mean for my business if I found the ancient lore of the Chakrandrum, eh?”

Not even before Guland could get a breath, Malius, one of the new ones she met in the room, spoke up.

“Yes you would gain power and wealth beyond that of any living dwarf, even a king, is that why you call forth one of Evil, dwarf”
She felt kinda bad for the dwarf, being treated so mean in his own home, after being so kind to us all, why doesnt this guy just ease up a little bit. But with a quick and suprised retort, Guland spoke up.

"Evil?" There is no evil within this house, my friend. My merchants may be as profit minded as I am, but they would not call for the service of evil.Besides, I pay handsomely to have my precious belongings warded against the evil intended, so you need not fear. Surely one such as yourself woulnd't dare to judge a person on their looks alone, would you?"
Loda smiled at that comment, and slowly and lightly nodded her head. Many things like that are with nature, and by the looks of this elf, he seemed slightly intuned with it. If anyone should know, it would be her, then this elf. Does not the mighty oak spring forth from the tiniest seed? Didnt the mightiest dragons hatch from a small, defeneless egg? Never should anyone judge anyone just by looks alone. Ever.

"It is not this ones looks I worry of But what he radiates from himself and I sense evil about him, prove to me he is not such and I will silence my words of anger"
She frowned as the remarks that were being said echoed through out the chamber. Aura? what was this guy talking about. If he was evil wouldnt of killed everyone here now? surely he was a man of some problems, but not evil.
She squirmed even more, and she couldnt hold it any longer, with a shot of her arm striaght up, she tried to get the attention of Guland, and hopefully might break up this fight.
" Excuse me, excuse me! but Guland, I have a question......where is the bathroom?"

I live in upstate new york. We had a huge influx of rain last summer, days straight of it. and we live right in a flood plain kinda thing, in a valley between a few mountain ranges. we as in the town i live in along with a few others. well we had so much rain they had to open the locks or they would of burst, and by doing that, the water just over flowed the mohawk river, which is about a four minute walk from my house. So ya this flooding only happens once every couple decades, with the last one being in the sixties or fiveties i think. but ya it took out the two main stores in Fort plain, the town in which i reside.

Lodas eyes shot open. Blood shot and dry, she rubbed them as the dim light shown through the inns closed window. Gothard was on his back, legs sprawled out into the air. The memories of last night gradually came back to her as if dripping from a spout. After a few moments she finally remembered what it was she did last night.

After realizing that the group had descended, and not having time to look for a proper bar, she just followed them down into the great stone city to the clouded mug. There she laid down her last gold piece and started a tab. After about six or so ales of a descent strength, she swears someone slipped her a pipe that was stuffed with a little more than just tobacco. Thats when everything goes out. The next thing she remembers is waking up here. She didnt know whether it was night, morning, or evening, for it was always the same dim light. But there is one thing she knows. She was out of money, and she didnt get anything back from that last gold.

" Gods be damned, maybe I should stop drinking."

Gothard, a beautiful wold of black and grey rolled over and gave her a strange look.

" Nah, you're right Gothard, its just to fun."

With a wry little smile she got out of bed, but barely. Stumbling, she half walked half fell to the window, and grabbed onto its ledge, and steadied herself. She walked over to the table where she had her stuff and clothed herself, and geared up, and walked out of her room. She started to braid her long, frizzy wild black and grey hair when she realized there was no other activity from her friends room. She went over to the only other females room there, Alyssias, and knocked, then walked in. As she entered, she seen a used bed, and a table empty of what little gear Alyssia had. Her eyes widened as she realized she must of over slepted, and ran into her othe companions rooms. All were gone.

" Gods damn it all! The drink kept me under for far to late than I wanted. Gothard we're late for an appointment that could change us all around."

The two looked at eachother and she smiled.

" But not that much."

She dashed down the stairs and seen breakfast was long cleaned up, and rushed out. Realizing she had no idea how to get there, she waltzed back in and sauntered over to the bar.

" excuse me innkeeper, but do you know hot to get to the granitefingers residence?"

After conversing with the innkeeper for a few minutes, she thanked him and walked out. Breaking out into a sprint, she ran up and up into the next level, with Gothard straight on her tail. Soon she was at the next level, and was only minutes away from he destination. Running a little further she could see a very large stalagmite, with a dwelling built right into the base of it. Almost overlooked by the greatness and quality of craftmanship, she seen the emblem on the double doors that matched the one on the stone that she had seen. She walked through the front doors and finally caught her breath as she was approached by a servant. Before he could get a word out she spoke.

" excuse me, I'm here to see a mr. Granitefingers, I was with a party who had arrived earlier, I was runnning late."

The servent then showed her up stairs and to a room, where he told her to wait until mr. Granitfingers arrived. Good, she hadnt missed anything yet. Apon entering the room, she seen the recognizable face of all her fellow companions, and a new one. An elf of darker skin than usual stood in the middle, who had a wolf with two ferrets standing on its back. Another new face was another khord, who was cleaning an axe. with a smile on her face, she spoke up.

" Sorry! Sorry! I over slept....again. I'm assuming you've all introduced you're selves, so will go ahead. Most of you already know me, but for you new folk, my name is Loda, Loda Ironcage, and this here if Gothard, my lovely companion for as long as I can remember."

Character Description

Loda. A Khord who was once a natural, beautiful druid, who drank herself away into a world of butch-woman ways, fighting, drinking, hair, and big bellies. It was pretty much destined for her…in her genes (*whispers* the mother, you know). She doesn’t remember much of her past anymore. The only thing in her life that she has to remember by is her wolf, Gothard. Black as night on the top, gray as rain on the bottom. A lover, but just as tipsy as Loda at times. She loves him, so she shares her beer with him.

Loda is a rather large dwarven female, weighing in at 180 pounds, and a great 50 pounds of that comes from her big old, bushy, untamed hair (she mostly keeps that in something of a dreadlock/braid ordeal). She makes beer! Has her own little brewing pot, even. So when a long, cold night is upon you, Loda is a great companion to have around. She wears big and soft, comfortable green pants, and black studded leather tops. Sleeveless. She still, however, hits on men…of all races. She’s quite easy in fact. So don’t let the manly appearance fool you, she’s all woman, inside and well...inside.
Although she’s a bit rough around the edges, Loda is still a careful, and even graceful druid. Just not quite as she once was. But hey, she's still all there! for now anyway.

hey almerin, has anyone taken control of the character that I was playing? If she is still being Npced i'd gladly play her again. recent events have made it so I can be on the inn a lot more often than before. Alrighty, i just went back and read from page 6 instead of 9 or so in the QnA and it seems grugg replaced my character. Will it be to much to still have her be played by me and grugg with his character? Or did you get rid of her stats and such?

Roscoe looked as the others ran off somewhere, and he stood up, wondering what was going on. He then slowly walked over to where the others were just in time to see them engage a group of drow. Taking out his bow and drawing an arrow, he raised his bow to take a shot at one of the more well armed drow, the one closest to him.

( If he can he's going to sneak attack a drow that is within thirty feet of him with his magical bow, and if he drops him, then will just attack another random drow.)

I'm suprised your DM didnt make up a magical ring or something that let him be resistant to death attacks. But that reminded me of when me and my brother were being Dmed by my friend, and he had a bullette come after us. He was playing a warforged barbarian, and I a rogue/assasin shifter. The battle was going one sided, just as my sneak attacks both missed, my bro gets swallowed whole, and he needs to hack his way out. come to find out he has no lightr slashing weapons so he has to wait until I can kill it. all im armed with is a cursed dagger which the curse is if i damage it on a FORT DC of 14, if they fail there innards turn to a black acidic goo and die. the thing needed a three or higher to pass, i hit it once, he rolls....2. I saved both of us, but my bro was severely damaged....about a half n hour later that same character, the assasin, gets literally chewed on by a hill giant and I retire the character permanenantly.... * tear *

Loda felt better than ever. Well better than when she was used as a dwarven spine catcher thats is. Being healed to almost her original strength, she bent over quickly and picked up her bow, and an arrow, knocking it, ready to fire one at Troshba. but soon words of negotiations rang out through out the battle, and Tobin was the one doing the talking.

"Troshba! I wish to renegotiate with you!"

Loda, seeing that Troshba was ready to fire another volley of spikes, didnt feel like being skewered once more, so waited to let them talk it out before making any actions.

“Your words better say that you get Troshba food. Troshba WILL leave you safe. She is not sneaky as short man-likes!”

"I have seen the pain you are able to inflict Troshba. Yes! Pain from claws and spikes. You have been true to your word. I have no wish for one of mine to peris and, yet, you too have felt our sting. And I doubt you wish to perish. So... food for you and your young for free passage through this pass... and a bit of help on your part. Your protection through your land. What say you, Troshba? Shall all live to see tomorrow?"

“That was Troshba’s offer she said first time. You get food and Troshba gets you safety. We all live.”

Lodas eyes darted back and forth between the two, and even though all her instincts tell her to put this beast down once and for all, some things are just to much to handle. She finally decided what ever the group decides to do, she will go along with it. Besides, a druids work cant be done when she's dead.

Roscoe hears the warning Lorae passes onto him, and tenses up a bit, and slows down on his horse, making less noise. He slowly takes out his bow and makes sure his quiver is free on his side so he can grab an arrow, and sits on top of his horse, and waits for what would happen next. Soon Lorae wriles up some birds with bread, and he slowly waits for an attack that might not ever come.

Roscoe trotted along with the group for a little while longer, and then they suddenly stopped, and Lorae suddenly spoke up.

"Brianna, I think Xuor would be best teamed with you as a scout, I know forests are not your normal terrain. With Flame's eyes, and Draug's sense of smell, we should be well cover by scouts.Logan would you please remain rearguard, and I will spell you every hour.I will let you know we already know that there are Drow in the forest, some worst that others. Elminster believes there is at least one opening to Underdark somewhere in the forest close to Ashbenford and the Elves we had contact with soon after we arrived mentioned a particularly nasty group of Drow inhabits Myth Drannor.Other than that, since the Exodous of the Elves certain areas of the Forest have gone wild."

Roscoe looked around and seen the two people that she had talked about, and casually looked deep into the woods. It looked quite peaceful. To peaceful for the kind of stories and legends it holds, but maybe that was just it, the deceitful looks and false comfort it gives to its guests just before they all die. He shuddered once thinking of it, and listened up, waiting for what they were going to do next.
