More about Rao: Raolonlo Greyclaw was born and raised by his mother in Rawlinswood. Shortly after reaching adulthood Raolonlo left the settlement for common reasons a half-elf might. His human blood would age him too quickly for him to grasp elven culture which became too much of a burden for both him and the elves. Raolonlo did however learn the rudimentary skills of the ranger in his short lived life with the elves. Seeking his place in the world and knowing he would never find it amongst the elves of Rawlinswood he set off on his own. In the following decade Raolonlo wandered west through Impiltur and over the Sea of Fallen Stars to finally reach The Dragon Coast. During this time of his life he was a recluse living off nature though he would occasionally visit towns to sell the remains of the animals he hunted and re-supply his traveling gear. The loneliness eventually became too much to bare. He longed for companionship and brotherhood. Raolonlo found such things within a band of barbarian mercenaries he joined while he traveled The Green Fields. This way of life was not foreign to him. He was easily embraced by the clan. Thirty years passed while living with the barbarians. By this time Rao (as he was called) was elected chieftain of the wandering clan. Over the years Rao showed great strength and courage during battle as well as commendable pre-battle tactics which enabled him to obtain his position. This is where he belonged. His place in this world or so he thought. As a warrior and tactician Rao was formidable. His ability to devise battle winning ambushes was irreplaceable and he was also a hardy fighter but, as a leader he was overconfident in himself as well as his band of warriors. The numbers of the clan dwindle greatly under his command. Rao took contracts that proved too difficult for the warriors. Though his strategy was well plotted he was arrogant. He foolishly believed his band to be undefeatable. He eventually finished off the remainder of the clans men with a foolish contract to slay a black drake. The contract was completed but, the clan was destroyed leaving the women and children to fend for themselves. Rao abandoned the clan for it was too sad to see the faces of those who remained. In the present time Rao works as a sell sword throughout the port cities that border the Moonsea. He has conclude that life is to be lived, to survive and nothing more.
Rao is confident and gritty but he is also patient. At time he is withdrawn and also wavers between attitudes. Things become pointless or worthwhile.
Physical Description: Short wind blown blonde hair and green eyes. Athletic build with noticeable scars across his right cheek and forehead. Blue woad tattoo designs completely covering the right arm and half his neck. The tattoo is a solid blue design from the right arm to the right side of his neck ending in a depiction of three dragons flying in a circle on his neck.

Xaris sighed, and spoke quietly under his breathe.

" stupid ogre, making things more complicated."

He looked at the path ahead of them, three different ways to go. He thought back on the goblin and gnoll pierced to the wall, and shuddered. He was glad to see the evil creatures dead, but did not want to meet the same fate. This ogre seems to be to cruel for normal ogres. Maybe he was something more? Something more beastly? He shook the thought out of his mind and looked back at the group behind him.

" I say we go straight, the ogre is most likely sleeping or eating, and if I thought like an ogre, I wouldnt want me comforts to far away and not have a tricky winding trail leading to it. Especially if I had to drag a horse down into my cave."

He looked down to the floor, surprised as to how much he had opened up to the group. These people were easier to get along with than he originally thought. Maybe his many years of travel had softened him up a little? Or maybe there is just something different here....

Xaris dismounted and walked to the mouth of the cave. His low light vision couldnt see much in the dark, so the mentioning of a torch seemed to be a good one. Going underground was something he didnt do to often, being a forest gnome. But for the good of this man and his family, he will gladly descend.

Stepping up to the front of the group, he looked back at them.

" If its alright, I would like to be near the front. I can take on big monsters like this ogre.

If you dont mind I would like to be in the lead/near the lead. My fighting skills and bonuses vs giants will garner a better defense, barbarian skills at dodging traps are quite well, and low light vision can see. Also I can track pretty well with a very high bonus to survival.

" Ride? What about tracking? I cant track from horse back."

Oh and people, I have come up with the most brilliant plan to get the potion to the tree. Lets just use the ring of hte mage hand we got in Warm Dale to float it over. we can get within atleast 25 feet of tree. Whats the spell level of the ring?

Loda watched as a newcomer came around the tavern, and a commotion occurd. Wanting to know why Draven wasnt attacked, the sylvari man pressed and pressed for the info, only getting an answer he would barely take. Loda watched with Gothard this new man, and wondered why he was here, and not attacked himself. But Now was not the time for questioning the loyalty of the people around them, and only watched as everyone spoke at once on three different subjects. Whether it be ale, pixies, lizards, or a giant evil tree, all of it was combining together giving her a headache. Then the sudden sobs of a sylvari man came into earshot! But she could not blame him, for everything he had ever known was taken away.

She leaned up against the tavern and took a swig of her ale, hoping to drown out the noise. She squirted some into the mouth of Gothard, feeling sorry for his super sensitive doggy ears. But then something caught her ear. The talk of actually going to the tree. She perked up and listened in. Apparently this 'wolf' knew how to get there, but have never been there. Intuition he calls it. Bah,the only real intution to Loda is womans intuition. No man could have as good Intuition...Unless.....

Loda chuckled. The thought made her laugh, and move closer, taking another swig. Now they would be moving out to the tree, collecting some items as they made their way out of the town. But before she could get out she was attack! But by the young sylvari who could not get grips on himself, and only on her. But if it made him feel better, then she did not mind him clinging on. He might of been kinda cute even, if the entire situation was different.

But soon they all found themselves going through the woods, and Lodas druid senses were tingling. The whole forest was alive with nothing, forests animals missing from every corner. It was unnatural, impure, evil. The path narrowed so they had to hike in loose files, until they stopped.

Wolf was leading, and he drew his sword, then was leaped upon by a massive lizard. The urge to freeze and stop what she was doing almost over took her, but she held on, and mentally ordered Gothard to attack as she draws her axe and shield, ready to fight along side him.

Xaris stood as he watched the man writhe around on the stake. He did not have any high held opinion on this man, nor on the one who calls himself the Cardinal. Either of them can do whatever they want, as long as they leave Xaris and his friends alone. He would not let anyone who he cared for fall victim to such needless things. If any more Banites come, he will make them fall. If this man the Cardinal comes and thinks them evil, he will fall too. As long as there will be obstacles, there will be Xaris there trying to get through them.

Later on that day Xaris still thought of the man on the stake and the one called Cardinal. He hoped that he did not wander about onto there path, and misjudge them. Being on such a great quest as this is sure to stir up some demented psychopath. But Xaris just smoothed out his hair and patted the horse he rode on, knowing that even if he does, he wont do anything until Xaris falls.

Moments later, as the night has begun to take claim to the sky they came across a cart. Xaris listened to the decrepid man as he made his claim, and felt the utmost pity for him. He knows of the pain of family tragedies, shares that guilty feeling of not being able to do anything. He can relate to the man in so many ways. If there was anything he could do to redeem himself anywhere, this was it.

Xaris slowly dismounted from the horse, and walked a little ways towards the man. He looked back over his shoulder, looking at the group whow as looking back. He got closer to the old man and whispered into his ear.

" Old man, I may be of different blood, skin, and race, but I know what it feels like to feel a tragedy like this. If there is anything that I can do to help you get your family back while they still live, I will do it. Even if my companions go on without me."

Xaris backs away from the man, and gives him a small smile, patting him on the shoulder. Human or not, this old man has felt pain worse than death. He needs comforting.

In a small voice, barely audible even to the old man, Xaris speaks..

" This Ogre will die, and a family will be reunited."

He walks over to his group, and speaks up for a brief moment.

" I will help no matter what. I will also track this beast. I know you might not understand my reasoning, but I have to. I owe it to him. To everyone..."

With that Xaris walks the burning cart, shielding his eyes from the fire, and studies the ground where the Ogre walked off the path, and studies the ground. He makes notes in his head, and looks as carefully as he can to see where the ogre has headed, and if it had happened recently.

(( Will take 20, or 10. Which ever I can do. WIll use my survival skill to track the beast back to where it is. ))

What the.... I told you, violence probably wasnt the best thing. Now I hope we can save the pirate ship, to salvage the quarters and see why it was pirated. And i am so sorry for our loss, dead in the opening combat. Dev, shoulda listened to grugg and no fireballs. All we're missing is a dead dolphin, which is probably dead by the falling guy.

Gheriel readied to take the charge of the enemy.

" Jeskell and I will wait on board here to defend, you others I see have chosen to attack! Good choice, and may lady luck be with you."

He twirled his rapier impatiently, waiting for the pirates to cross over.

Gritting his teeth in silent anger, he gripped his swords tightly, wanting to draw the blood of the would be pirates.

But something was amiss, these people werent pirates for long, as they were just in home port months earlier, a very nice and reliable trading ship. The Guilded Seal was just like any other ship who goes into port. Trades goods and stories and then leaves. He quizzically wracked his brains as to what was going on.

He also squinted at the flag, seeing its poor quality. If they were subject to piracy, it wasnt for very long. A poor flag and...and magic? A loud voice rang out.

”CREW OF THE SAUCY WENCH! THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE YOUR LIVES! SURRENDER Y’ER CARGO AND SAIL FREELY!”

This was it, Gheriel had to speak up.

" This ship cant be pirates! They just visited my home mere months ago, what has happened!"

He needed to do one thing, and that was to speak to the enemy captain. He would need to assault the ship, and speak to the captain outright.

He waited for the ship to get close enough, and when it was, he shouted.

" Crewmen and captain of The Guilded Seal! You have visited my homeport a mere few months ago, and you were not pirates! I demand to speak to your captain on the grounds of why you are now reduced to pirating! Perhaps negotiations instead of blood shall flow today!?"

He looked at his comrades.

" Hault my friends, maybe we can resolve this withot violence!"

(( When the ship gets close enough, he will shout this, and when even closer to jump safely on, he will do that. And dont forget half elf racial bonuses when making checks for diplomacy and stuff, I wanna see if we can do this peacefully.))

Xaris dusted himself off of the old dead skin flaking away, and looked at the raw new skin underneath. Deep in green and grey, his skin grew back. Hair grew to its original length and his over all feel came back to almost as if he was new again. He gave a smile and a nod to Aelistae, thanking her subtley for the healing.

He walked slowly over, sheathing his gnomish greatsword and looked at the symbol. In all of his years traveling the region, he had stumbled upon the symbol once or twice. Whether it be in a passing story on the road, or on a tattered cloth strayed about, he had seen it before, and it was bane.

He didnt know much about humans, only his personal experiences, which made him to believe most to be evil creatures. But these...banites seemed to be one of the most cruel of them all.

He walked over to his mount of before, and waited until she was ready to move out. A little retribution was dealt on this bridge, killing evil to save good hearted people. And to seal the deal, he needed to be apart of finding this one last human.

Lheriel paced back and forth beneath the ship. The smell of rotting wood and salted beef permeated the air all around them. It was a smell accustomed to almost every ship, along side the salty sea and dead fish.

But he did not pace because of the bad smells, he was pacing on account of his extremely large hatred of vessels. You'd think someone who came from a very large trading guild would love ships, but no. Not ever since the dreaded day where life as he knew it was thrown over board and cast aside like a dirty grease rag. That day he decided he would venture abroad and have the life he has now. One of adventure and exploration.

He tossed his loose pony tail behind him again as it eased its way over his shoulder again.

His dark leather armour and boots, contrasted with his white tunic and dark green pants. His short sword slung at his left hip, while his rapier to his right. He was anxious, and ready for battle, making sure everything was inplace, incase he needed to use them. One of the last times he was on a ship he was unprepared and couldnt do anything about it. That would not happen again.

He looked over at his friend Jeskell, who he met in a long forgotten city. Ever since then they had become friends, along with the hawk on his shoulder. His skill with the bow was and will always be very useful, and he was glad that they were together. Jeskell looked up and they shared a smile while he tucked in his chain shirt, his brown hair and eyes all the same looking at his hawk, Henry.

Scanning his vision from Jeskell to the others, he smiled. Atleast if something were to happen, others would be here to help. Unlike with mother.

The next thing to slip into his mind before that horrid memory was the word pirates. Lheriel's ears perked up and he instinctively drew both his rapier and sword. Jeskell shot up to, clammering for his bow and arrows. The finely crafted recurved bow sitting in the corner was quickly acquired.

Together they ran up the stairs with the others, ready to fight any of these evil, heartless marauders of the sea to the death.

" Jeskell, this is for all the things I've told you about in our travels. Little by little, justice feels like its been served."

(( Lheriel will draw rapier in main hand, short sword in second, and use both to full effect for full round attacks against the pirates. Jeskell will use bow to fire at any missile threats first, like magic or other archers. if not, then just some random threating pirate. ))
