Xaris sat, half listening to the conversations behind him until he heard a mention of an arrow, and something that would change that night drastically for him.

"You cradle that arrow as though it were a child, so gentle with it, yet I can see in your eyes that it fills you with such anguish. Did it perhaps belong to a friend of yours, a member of the Green Dragon Brigade? For surely that is one of their arrows."

He snapped a look back at Elesia, wondering if he heard the words that she spoke correctly. Did the information that he was trying to gather for the past twelve years actually just reach his ears? He opened his mouth, but few words came out.

" The arrow. It belongs to murderers, people who need to be punished. Green Dragon Brigade?"

He pondered on the name, letting it digest in his mind, hoping finally he found out what it was.

I was reading the CD chart, and was wondering what exactly is a "monetary bonus"?

Xaris sat a a few feet from the fire, just outside its glow. He faced the wilds and thought about the events that had just passed, and took his blade in his hand. With his legs stretched out, he laid the blade across, and cleaned it.

Father would be proud at how I use you, I'm almost as good as he was! But never could I match him. So many enemies I watched him take down, and I could do nothing.

Xaris took his blade and held it in front of him, letting the low light around him shine off of its steely edge.

Every kill, every life I help all goes to you. To my family, to Shei, Jheril, Asersie, my father and even Yyreienl. To everyone who was caught, it all goes to you.

Xaris sheathed his sword and ruffled through his pack, bringing out an old, decrepit arrow. It was in two halves, and the wood was dark from age and brittle. The feathers on its end were red and white, and the arrow head broad and heavy. It had an insignia on the side that he still to this day could not find.

One day, I'll find out. One day, everything will come together.

He sat back, putting the arrow away, and listened to snippets of the conversation behind him. He ignored it all, as the group mostly sat, and watched the night go by.

Lheriel smiled as they made port, being happy again to be near the sea, and also near civilization. Jeskell stepped out next to him and squinted, the wind in his eyes. He wasnt as used to the sea life as Lheriel was.

They started to walk down onto the docks, and all was fine until someone started barking orders out, telling everyone to do something specific and in some very interesting tones.

Lheriel looked at the woman with a raised eyebrow, curious as the very awkward mood she was in.

" You dont really have to be such a poor sport about this all. Your acting like you know we're all going to get killed and end up in the belly of Ratharawn himself! Just lighten up a bit, and I will do as you say, only becuase it makes sense. You really should get out of that attitude you have, and take taht emotion and funnel it into looking out for baddies, not moping around because you agreed to something. Oh and one other thing, our "mule" is a person to. See? Arms, legs, face skin, all the workings of the gods. Now don't go insulting this poor fellow or you can just carry the damned box yourself."

With that Lheriel will do as she says, it being tactically sound, watching our new found friend the box carrier so he doesnt get 'shanked'.

Loda stood, watching the chaos insue around her. She needed to act quickly, do something to save Geim. She wouldnt let this cutie get away from her so easily. She decided, and hopefully it would be the best course of action.

Loda began to cast a spell she was very familiar with, flaming sphere. She ordered the ball of fiery retribution to attack the vines that gripped Geim, only further down their reach as to not burn Geim, or Gothard.

" Gothard, tear at the vines and get them off of him!"

(( Loda will cast flaming sphere and attack the vines, only further down their body as to not burn gheim. Gothard will also attack the vines.))

You can NPC him. I dont mind. He's not going to miss out on this important demon hunt. I guess he can stay with the Bishop and protect him. Or help him fight. But keeping in this mind set will keep him alive too; "Backing out of a fight you know you will lose keeps you alive to help fight for Pelor and all that is good another day" Suffice to say if worse comes to worse make him try an back out of the fight and let some NPC take the brunt =P

Xaris rolled off of the orc with his gnomish speed to dodge the incoming blow. Ogres are easy enough for his small race to dodge, but this one was even easier. It's sheer size made it even easier to predict, and as thought its axe landed right where he was. He came to his feet with his great sword gripped in both hands, sweat beading on his forehead. A wry smile spread across his face, his mossy skin colour quite the contrast to his white teeth. He listened to the orc he had just felled get crushed under the mass of the axe.

This is for the ones who were lost, the ones I could'nt save, my family....

Xaris yelled out loud in a frenzy as he charged the ogre, his diminutive size fooling yet another opponent. Maybe it was this lack of fear that Xaris gave out to his advesaries, or just his shear strength. But Xaris knew it was both. Him being so tiny made others let their guards down, and this is when he struck.

He let his sword clash with the ogres leg in a sickening collision of flesh, ligaments, and bone seperating wherever he struck. Soon enough the ogres leg was severed in two from the mighty blow Xaris struck, and like a mighty tree, the ogre came tumbling down.

Xaris stood back quickly to avoid being fallen on, and wiped the blodo away from his face that had splurted onto him. He panted slightly, the mighty blow draining him of some strength, but not enough to quiet the fire inside of him.

The ogre rose, sitting up, most likely perplexed as to where his lower leg went, when he was plugged with two arrows, being damaged even more. Xaris smiled as the ogre bled from these wounds, knowing he was soon to die.

But something happened that he did not expect. The woman, who they were sure they were here to save, rose up with a bone wand in hand, and an evil smile on her face. She laughed out loud, almost chilling the air around Xaris's body.

“While I commend you on your sense of morality and justice. I pity you fools, for while my master moves his plan one step further to completion, you will not live to see the light of day!”

She then rose the wand, and fired it at them, them being Xaris, Artanis, and even the ogre. Quickly it shot throgh him and the ogre, charring flesh and burning hair. Xaris had to steady himself and focus hard on not shouting out in pain, not wanting to give the evil woman the satisfaction of harming others.

Who ever this woman is, she is not the one who we want to save. But who is this master she speaks of? It is not the ogre, or she would'nt of shot him too. We need her.

Xaris looked over, remembering the ogre was still there. The quick shock had dulled his senses for the moment. But to his relief, the ogre was slumped over, charred black and dead where he sit. He could not let this woman die, he needed to know who she was talking about. Maybe if they wound her then subdue her, it just might work.

Without speaking, Xaris charged at the woman. He threw his sword down and yelled at the top of his lungs as he charged her, his feet pumping as fast as they could, dodging dead bodies and barrels left and right. His arms pumped on his sides, working his momemtum up as quickly as he could. Soon, he would tackle her to the ground and knock her out.

(( Xaris will drop his greatsword and go into barbarian rage, then charge the woman and try to grapple her.))

As the party spoke and ate, comtemplating taking up the offer or not, the woman at the bar turned around in her chair and watched them. She sat for a few minutes, sipping and then decided speak.

Addressing no one in particular in the group, she spoke up.

" If you want to know more about it, you could ask me. I don't know why they're gone, only that they are. When me and a few other searched where they were last seen, tracks lead north, north-west of here."

She took another swig and set it on the table, wiping her mouth withe her sleeve.

" There are some old ruins up there, and if it's any place, thats where they are. Look, we're just a bunch of farmers and wood cutters, brewers and cookers. Not fighters, heros, or anything of that sort. If we went up taht far north to the ruins, we would probably be kidnapped ourselves, and be in an even worse problem."

She looks down on the floor, a small frown on her face growing ever more evident.

" I would do more for this town, but I'm to damaged to fight again. If you need more of an insentive, I can give you my old weapon of choice. It helped me in more situations than I could ever imagine, but I have no use now. You all could have it, just to seal the deal."

That makes a LOT more sense now, heh. you were just being descriptive with the term ' short sword'. It all fits now. I still cant believe I lopped his leg off! I can see it in his face...

" Oh I'm a big bad ogre who's gonna eats me a gnome and some otha stuffs!"

* six seconds later*

" OMFG MY LEG IS GONE!"

Holy crap! I swear kaelyn your going to have to mail me those mini dice or something lol. Next time I get to make a campaign, Xaris is definately going to be my character. I am quickly becoming infatuated with playing this character on table top. I just have one question though kaelyn. howcome xaris used his short sword instead of greatsword to chop the ogres leg off? The way I imagined it is that it was stuck in the orc that he killed and rolled off of.

And one question for the group...WTH do we do with this crazy lady? I am assuming that the guy out by the wagon was a set up, or his wife is under some spell. We cant see the child, so I'm going for answer one. OR...we dont see them yet, and they're somewhere else...

Xaris watched from behind as the four bolts ricocheted off of the shield and walls around them. He stuided the large ogre and hated him even even more with every passing second. He gripped his greatsword, and wanted to lunge right away at the ogre, but seen the barricade and the orcs in the way.

" I will try an make my way to the orcs, flank like you said if you can."

Xaris gripped tightly on his sword and took a deep breathe, charging in at the ogre. But infront of him were the orcs that blocked his path, so he lunged at the nearest one. He would need to cut the orc down quickly to make it to the giant orge that held the prisoners. This would be one of his greatest redemptions yet.

(( Xaris will charge at an orc, and once he had killed him he will charge the Ogre, trying to tie him up for the others to make their way.)) .

Oh man, oh man, oh geeze, gotta run...

Bensiel ran as fast as his scrawny legs could carry him, trying to make it to the courthouse. He had just arrived at the orphanage, being late as usual. Some things had crept up on his trip back to Ormander who needed his help. A chance encounter with some 'friends' he had made on the road cut his time back signifigantly, and now he was paying for it.

He was told that the people was suppose to meet was at the courthouse, and now was bolting his way there. He didnt want to keep anyone waiting any longer than he needed to already.

He stopped dead in his tracks, his deep blue tight pants and forest green tunic with a deep green matching cloak all almost flying off of him as he hit the edge of the crowd. His armour glistened in the light as a part of the tunic opened to show it, and his lute almost fell off of him. He caught it before it could fall.

Something had pushed the crowd back as he approached, makign him misjudge the distance between him and the last person. He craned his head far over the people to see a large horse galloping up the court house steps and dissappear into nothingness. That must of surged the crowd backwards.

Well, that was quite the site to see. Something very..different.

His ears perked up though as he heard screams and shouts.

“It was her! She sent that thing at us.”

“Yeah, she killed that boy!"

He looked up towards the steps as he made his way to the front of the crowd, grabbing for his lute, and kept it held underneath his cloak. He pushed and shoved until he was up front, seeing someone being pointed out like a witch, and blamed for the death of a child, which he had just spotted.

A child lay on the steps, a man leaning over him, crying.

Everything seemed to freeze for a moment as Beinsel thought.

Oh wow, this does not look good at all. If I dont step in, someone might end up dead.

He took one hard gulp and burst out of the crowd.

Well, here goes nothin'

He jumped out of the crowd and over by the boy who lay still. He pulled threw his deep green cloak back, and held out his lute, which glistened with an unnatural beauty, unequal to any instrument in the city. He looked around with his emerald eyes, and quickly wiped his black hair out of his face, and spoke.

" Please, please everyone! We do not want to make any threats or accusations towards this poor unfortunate person!"

Beinsel gestures towards Percy.

" Instead of taking another life today, letstry an save two. Let me try an save this poor child, and heal his grievous wounds, which would surely bring forth death if not treated."

He looks at the boy laying on the ground, and looks back towards the crowd, with a very sympathetic look on his face. He strums a few slow notes on his lute, and speaks.

" Please, violence only begets violence, and that gets does not help anyone. Be the bigger person and forgive and forget, and lets all see to it that we all are able to wake up to a bright new day." ((Beinsel will be makig a diplomacy check on the crowd of people so they wont mob up and kill anyone today. he just wants to calm them down.))

Beinsel starts to play on his lute, a slow melody on the lower notes, that slowly rises to higher strings, growing in pace as he goes. He turns to the child, and plays harder, focusing his bardic magic through his instrument, trying to heal the young one of all his malodies.

(( Beinsel will be casting Either two cure light wounds, or one cure moderate wounds. If I can only get one spell off, I will cast the CMW's, but if I can get both off, I will cast the two CLW's))

Xaris sighs in relief as to not seeing any orcs within this room. He really didnt want to lop another head off and get so messy. He relaxed his shoulders, and turned to the group, seeing what they were going to do. He was ready to head out with them.
