For those unfamiliar with Final Fantasy, or the various races, I've decided a couple reference images could be handy. Any other races you would like reference images of I'll post as requested.

Moogles

Viera

Burmecian

Varg (The varg are, admittedly, an obscure race, so there are few references.) Another Varg reference.

Subject: Adventure Journal

Prelude: A dream of your death against a large winged beast has left you shaken, oddly enough the new recruits you are just meeting for the first time were in this dream as well. Is it a sign, a shadow of some fated destiny, or a huge coincidence? Only time will tell...

Trouble Down Below: After a brief introduction with the leader of the Falcons you head out with Nam to your first job. It seems a group of miners have broken through to a cavern and upon breaking through were run off by unseen foes. Not much information was available as the miners saw nothing of their attackers, as the fiends had some way to black their lights. What awaits below the mountain? Only time will tell...

Assailants Revealed: The assailants were revealed to be Goblinoid creatures known as Vrill, an offshoot that has lived deep underground in seclusion for generations.

Saving the World?!: The Falcons find themselves in a chamber full of radiant crystals, face to face with the very embodiment of the Element of Earth. After being granted the Blessings of the Earth they are advised they have been chosen to restore the balance between the Light and Darkness and have been tasked with cleansing the mountain they are beneath of a foul taint. It is here they also meet with a new companion, a Galka by the name of Solus, who apparently has also received the blessing of the Wind crystal.

Treasures gained by the party as the game goes on will be noted here, unless a player manages to get their hands on something without the rest of the group noticing, at which point the nature of that loot will be between that player and I, until revealed within game.

Three mining helmets: sized for Medium humanoid creatures and powered by a continual flame spell behind a lens.

Topic: FFd20 Crimson Falcons QA take 2
Subject: Notable NPCs and Organizations

This space will be filled with the information learned about various NPCs and organizations within the world. I'll start with defining a couple terms before moving into specific people or groups.

Grand Companies: Each Nation maintains a Grand Company, in essence, their military which is tasked with protecting the lands, peoples, and interests of their Nation. Under the banner of each Grand Company there are smaller bands of mostly independent Free Companies that the Grand Company will occasionally call on when the needs of the nation are greater than the Grand Company can handle.

Free Companies: Free Companies are, as mentioned earlier, mostly independent though most owe loyalty to one of the 4 major Grand Companies and will answer a call for aid when one is put out by their respective Nation. In essence a Free Company is a band of like-minded sell swords and mercenaries that gain benefits from being loyal to a particular Nation. There are of course exceptions to every rule.

Echario le'Rouge: The great adventurer, Echario le'Rouge, is a famous Jack-of-all-Trades whose fame is only matched by his ego. This ego is what lead le'Rouge to found a Company not bound to any one Nation, but instead bound to his will and the benefit of its members over any one Nation. This company is known as the Crimson Falcons as it is le'Rouge's hope the company will soar to heights far greater than any other company ever could without the shackles of loyalty to a Nation. (At the start of the game you only know the rumors and stories that swirl around this man, you have not met him yet.)

Nam: A Varg of few words, preferring to let actions speak for him. He appears to carry no weapon, and wears no armor. (You have not yet met Nam, but you will.)

The Crimson Falcons: The only (as of now) 100% independent Free Company in existence on the continent of Lysoria. The company is based out of the independent city of Stone Bridge and will take on work from any Grand Company, as well from the private sector as long as their is potential for glory or riches. Your characters are the newest members of the Company, each joining for your own reasons which I will leave up to you.

Subject: Regional Information

This post will eventually be filled with the information pertaining to each region, be it the nation, cities, or adventure locales visited. You will notice on the map there are 4 cities that are marked by a crest, these are the capitals of the nations of Lysoria, each nation marked by the white outline around it. Two areas on the map remain neutral, not under the influence of any one nation, the mining city of Stone Bridge and the associated lands around it, and the Island of Ereshoden, commonly referred to as the Island of Outcasts. Your adventures will begin within the city of Stone Bridge, and may very well someday take you beyond the sea and into continents beyond Lysoria.

Stone Bridge: The city has managed to maintained neutrality mostly on the merit of its lucrative mining companies. Stone Bridge controls the flow of most of the stone, ore, and even precious stones traded across the continent of Lysoria. It is both this neutrality, and the potential for profit that draws many to this city, including Echario le'Rouge, founder of the Crimson Falcons, which we will discuss in detail in another post.

Subject: FFd20 Crimson Falcons QA take 2

As with my last attempt to run this, the game will not be set in one of the established Final Fantasy settings, but rather a setting of my own. At this point only one continent, Lysoria, is mapped, and the map only shows settlements that could be classified as cities. The smaller villages, towns, hamlets, etc are not marked on the map and will instead be added as needed.

The map, which I made myself so it isn't the best, can be located at this page and unfortunately I did not realize just how small the details were until after I uploaded it, so I apologize.

I'm pretty sure this goes without saying, but better safe than sorry, please refrain from posting here until I have officially opened the thread for questions and comments.

F: 2 = 0[base] +2[con]
R: 6 = 2[base] +4[dex]
W: 2 = 0[base] +2[wis]

BAB +0

Skills: 4 Archer + 2 intelligence modifier (+1 Hume)

The archer's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Acrobatics (Dex), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (geography) (Int), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Perception (Wis), Ride (Dex), Stealth (Dex), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str).

Knowledge (Nature): 6 (+1 rank, +2 Int, +3 class)
Perception: 6 (+1 rank, +2 Wis, +3 class)
Ride: 7 (+1 rank, +4 Dex, +3 class)
Survival: 6 (+1 rank, +2 Wis, +3 class)
Swim: 7 (+1 rank, +3 str, +3 class)
Climb: 7 (+1 rank, +3 str, +3 class)
Stealth: (+1 rank, +4 dex, +3 class)

Feats: (1 each odd level, plus +1 Hume)
Point Blank shot - +1 attack and damage on targets within 30 feet
Rapid Shot - Make one extra ranged attack

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Archers are proficient with all simple weapons, plus longbow, shortbow, composite longbow, composite shortbow, and greatbow. Archers are proficient with light armor, but not with any type of shields.

Limit Breaks (Su):

Hail of Arrows (Su): This Limit Break allows the archer to shoot a single arrow into the area within 60 feet. As the arrow descends, it splits into hundreds of arrows raining down upon his enemies. Enemies within a 20-ft.-radius of the indicated area the archer has chosen suffer 1d6 damage per archer level, a Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 archer level + Dexterity modifier) for half damage.

Trueshot Arrow (Su): This Limit Break allows the archer to fire an arrow at any opponent at three times the maximum range without any penalties for the round. The archer receives a +1 competence bonus on the Attack roll per archer level. If the attack hits, the damage is maximized.

Archery (Ex): At 1st level, the archer is treated as having the Precise Shot feat, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites for that feat. The benefits of this ability apply only when he wears light armor. He loses all benefits of this ability when wearing medium or heavy armor.

Aim (Ex): Starting at 1st level, as part of an attack action, the archer can wait a few seconds to aim and take a full measure of his bow to make every shot count. For every segment on the initiative the archer waits (up to the max of his Aim bonus), the archer receives a competence bonus equal to his Aim bonus for Attack and Damage rolls. If something interrupts the archer's Aim, the archer must make a Reflex save (DC 15 + the amount of Aim bonus) or lose the action. ( For example, an archer uses Aim +5, and he rolls a 16 for Initiative. His attack doesn't go off until 11, but during that time between 16 and 11, if something interrupts the archer, he has to make a Reflex save (DC 20) to not lose his attack.) Anything causing the archer to drop his bow disrupts his attack. Feats that grant extra attacks cannot be used in conjunction with the Aim ability. The aim ability does not change your initiative on subsequent rounds (unlike delayed/readied actions which change your initiative count).

Physical description: Gelion was the child of a woodsman and he looked the part. He was 5'10" tall, with hair that was somewhere between light brown and red. Reddish would be a good description as it was certainly not brightly red. His hair was slightly curly, not much more than wavy, and cut fairly short. It was a utilitarian cut, meant to keep his hair out of his eyes, not to look fancy. Although actually fairly strong, Gelion didn't look muscular. His was the wiry strength of the athletic and active. He was not the sort of man that would make every woman in the room stare, but the girls in his village had frequently called him "cute." His dimples might not make him a true ladies-man, but he could charm a lass when he wanted to do so.
His clothing was not ostentatious, but rather a fairly simple explorers outfit. He almost always had a broad brimmed hat upon his head to keep the sun out of his eyes and the rain off of his head. He was a fairly simple man, with no real dreams of glory, and his clothing showed it.

I will be setting up a fresh QA thread for this game, but here is a link to the last game's QA as a lot of the same information will be applicable. The Falcons will still be the hook that brings the group together, the map and regional information posted will be the same. Obviously the characters may be different, but I'm fond of the work I have put into the setting thus far and would like to keep moving with this.

You're more than welcome Kamina, I'll get your "heirloom" choices rolled and PMed to you so you can choose one before making the character, in case the item gives you any inspiration.

Also, as with the last game, I'm going to ignore encumbrance and food/water requirements, so you won't need to worry about buying rations etc unless you want them for rp applications.

1st level characters, any race or class in the ffd20 rules as well as any alternate racials, archetypes, etc you feel would fit your character. I will consider non ffd20 races on a case by case basis, I would gladly allow Tengu for example, as I can see bird people fitting easily into a setting with cat, wolf, lion, and lizard people.

Starting gil will be standard for your class, but as with the last game I will generate a random "heirloom" item you will have from the start of your journey.

Stat array: 14, 12, 15, 17, 13, 17.
Max hp + con at first level, subsequent levels hp will be rolled but any roll under half the hd will be rounded up to half (so a roll of 1-4 on a d10 would give you 5 hp+con at level 2 and so forth)

I'm interested in once again trying to get an FFd20 game rolling, and hopefully we can keep this one going. I know I have at least one player on hold waiting for this (I'm looking at you Ches!) and would like to ideally pick up another 2-4 players to round it out. I am more than happy to help with character creation, and will answer any other questions that may be presented.

I know I have been far from active, and a lot of the time, when I do get a game started and try to indulge my own needs for a game things happen, either in my own life or the lives of other players, that cause it to come to an abrupt halt. For a long time the Inn has been a safe haven for me, a home away from home. I've met so many amazing people I never would have had an opportunity to meet had I not found my way to the Inn. I lurk mostly now as my game fizzled last time, and I was just commenting the other day how dead it feels here, and I hate to see it this way.
