It is still early enough into the game that I can squeeze you in with little trouble, get me a sheet and we can go from there.

Subject: Final Fantasy: Crimson Falcons

As I mentioned in the QA thread you four are new recruits into the Crimson Falcons, a Free Company unlike any other, in that it is not beholden to any of the nations that make up the continent you call home. If you have questions regarding the Company, the leader, or anything else, feel free to post in the QA thread and I will address as able. For now though, this post will serve to set the stage for character introductions and a bit of group roleplay.

Your first official day as a Crimson Falcon you are lead into a spacious conference room. A mahogany table surrounded by 7 matching chairs and a larger, more ornate chair at the head of the table takes up a sizable portion of the room. Aside from the double doors you have been lead in through there is a single door at the eastern end of the room behind the ornate chair, and another door at the western end. Your guide, an attractive Elvaan woman in a vibrant red dress and corset turns back to you and says, "Please take a seat at any of the smaller chairs and wait here, our founder and leader, Echario le'Rouge, will be along shortly to meet you and introduce himself. In the meantime feel free to chat amongst yourselves and get comfortable, you four will be spending a lot of time together after all." She turns to leave, pauses, and turns back to add in passing, "The pantry in the corner," she points to the southwestern corner, "contains various drinks and sundry snacks if you are interested, though please try not to empty it like the last group." With that she turns and leaves, closing the double doors behind her and leaving you to your own devices.

The contents of this pantry are left intentionally vague, as I leave what you take up to you, be it a beer, a chocolate bar, assorted nuts and dried fruits, snack cakes, whatever. The pantry is a grab-bag of whatever your character may prefer. You may also choose to ignore the pantry all together, if that is more in line with your character's personality to not take something he feels he has not earned, or whatever the reason may be.

I really meant to get something started up over the weekend, but time got away from me and my sleep schedule took a major hit for it. I'll try to have something up tonight, but being as worried about making this good as I am, it may take me longer.

Just waiting on an updated sheet from Nomad, then I'll work out the intro and get this rolling. I appreciate everyone's patience and hopefully we can get something going this weekend.

Also, I just want to be sure everyone accounted for their favored class bonus during character creation. The standard 1 hp or 1 skill point, or the racial bonus (if any).

Subject: Adventure Journal

Brief recaps of the adventures and story will be added here as we move forward, summarizing events so if this does last and more people end up coming along they can read the cliff notes version to get a grasp of what to expect instead of reading an entire thread.

First Steps: While it may not seem the most glamorous of assignments, every story must start somewhere, and it seems your story with the Falcons is to begin with some pest control. A careless logger has disturbed a hive of Giant Bees and now work has practically come to a stop and it is up to the newest members of the Falcons to get things moving again.

Treasures gained by the party as the game goes on will be noted here, unless a player manages to get their hands on something without the rest of the group noticing, at which point the nature of that loot will be between that player and I, until revealed within game.

Subject: Character Information

I'll not be posting everything about characters, just basics, and tidbits of information learned during the course of your adventures. As I pointed out in the recruitment thread, the party is not meant to readily know everything about each other, and each character is (and likely will) free to have their own secrets.

>> Chessicfayth: Simon, a Hume who seems to know more than he chooses to reveal.

>> Vesper: Tuman Ledjier, a Hume accompanied by a sprite.

>> Nomad D2: Gelion Gavroche Greyflood, a Hume adventurer and woodsman.

>> Ayrn: Yohn, an Al Bhed mechanic and tinkerer.

>> Feypyro: Silvira Rundir, a graceful Ronso who seems at home in the shadows.

Subject: Notable NPCs and Organizations

This space will be filled with the information learned about various NPCs and organizations within the world. I'll start with defining a couple terms before moving into specific people or groups.

Grand Companies: Each Nation maintains a Grand Company, in essence, their military which is tasked with protecting the lands, peoples, and interests of their Nation. Under the banner of each Grand Company there are smaller bands of mostly independent Free Companies that the Grand Company will occasionally call on when the needs of the nation are greater than the Grand Company can handle.

Free Companies: Free Companies are, as mentioned earlier, mostly independent though most owe loyalty to one of the 4 major Grand Companies and will answer a call for aid when one is put out by their respective Nation. In essence a Free Company is a band of like-minded sell swords and mercenaries that gain benefits from being loyal to a particular Nation. There are of course exceptions to every rule.

Echario le'Rouge: The great adventurer, Echario le'Rouge, is a famous Jack-of-all-Trades whose fame is only matched by his ego. This ego is what lead le'Rouge to found a Company not bound to any one Nation, but instead bound to his will and the benefit of its members over any one Nation. This company is known as the Crimson Falcons as it is le'Rouge's hope the company will soar to heights far greater than any other company ever could without the shackles of loyalty to a Nation.

Nam: A Varg of few words, preferring to let actions speak for him. He appears to carry no weapon, and wears no armor.

The Crimson Falcons: The only (as of now) 100% independent Free Company in existence on the continent of Lysoria. The company is based out of the independent city of Stone Bridge and will take on work from any Grand Company, as well from the private sector as long as their is potential for glory or riches. Your characters are the newest members of the Company, each joining for your own reasons which I will leave up to you.

Subject: Regional Info

This post will eventually be filled with the information pertaining to each region, be it the nation, cities, or adventure locales visited. You will notice on the map there are 4 cities that are marked by a crest, these are the capitals of the nations of Lysoria, each nation marked by the white outline around it. Two areas on the map remain neutral, not under the influence of any one nation, the mining city of Stone Bridge and the associated lands around it, and the Island of Ereshoden, commonly referred to as the Island of Outcasts. Your adventures will begin within the city of Stone Bridge, and may very well someday take you beyond the sea and into continents beyond Lysoria.

Stone Bridge: The city has managed to maintained neutrality mostly on the merit of its lucrative mining companies. Stone Bridge controls the flow of most of the stone, ore, and even precious stones traded across the continent of Lysoria. It is both this neutrality, and the potential for profit that draws many to this city, including Echario le'Rouge, founder of the Crimson Falcons, which we will discuss in detail in another post.

Decided I may as well start up the QA thread for this game now that I have 3 mostly complete character sheets in my inbox and a fourth one possibly in the works. As I mentioned before, this game will not be set in one of the established Final Fantasy settings, but rather a setting of my own, at this point only one continent, Lysoria, is mapped, and the map only shows settlements that could be classified as cities. The smaller villages, towns, hamlets, etc are not marked on the map and will instead be added as needed.

The map, which I made myself so it isn't the best, can be located at this page and unfortunately I did not realize just how small the details were until after I uploaded it, so I apologize.

No, not Spira, a setting of my own design. I'll have a map in the QA Thread once I get it up. I'm hoping it lasts to be an extended campaign, but I guess that's not just up to me, but up to all of us.

Subject: oh, something I forgot to mention...

Probably should have mentioned this sooner, but honestly I was not expecting this to really launch, so it slipped my mind. In true Final Fantasy fashion I will not be imposing carrying limits, or requiring food and drink. So if you purchased backpacks, rations, waterskins, etc then you are welcome to swap those out and save yourself some gil. If you still want to have the items, perhaps for roleplay applications or creative problem solving, then feel free to keep them if you want to as well.

Just so everyone involved is aware, I am working on the stuff for this game, including a map I put together of the continent we will be playing on. I'll post up a Q/A thread just as soon as I am satisfied with what I have and find somewhere I can host the images.

My tabletop game seems to have faltered due to various scheduling conflicts and I have a serious itch to get a game going. I may not have the best track record with keeping a game going on here, but I wanted to put the idea out here and see if anyone would take the bait. I realize the Inn has been fairly dead of late, so I'm not expecting too much to be honest.

I'm wanting to do a Final Fantasy D20 game, which is Pathfinder with a few tweaks and additions to give it a Final Fantasy feel. The rule can be located by clicking here. I'm looking for 3 to 5 players to take up the role of Crystal Bearers and venture forth to save the world or some such.

I want as little planning between players as possible, I want a party that won't always be prepared for every possible outcome to add some flare and flavor to the game itself. This way if we end up with a thief, a dragoon, and a black mage, then the party has to overcome their lack of a healer creatively or with money for potions, and so forth.

I'm wanting to start at 1st level, single class only, full HD at 1st level and I prefer to roll the stats in advance (located below) for everyone to use so no one ends up underpowered because the dice did not give their favor when rolling.

If interested post here and shoot me a pm with character idea/concept and we'll get the ball rolling.

Topic: I want opinions...
Subject: any other opinions?

I was thinking an initial xp investment of roughly 250 to unlock the first level of a new class, and then from there half of what it would cost to gain a level in the class, and I say half because the pc is not gaining hd, saves, skills, etc from the levels gained in the crystal. They would be slowing their own progression by investing in the crystal to unlock new options.

So using the Ninja I mentioned in the first post again. When the crystal is initially obtained it will unlock Black Mage abilities for her. To gain the next level of Black Mage abilities she would have to invest a total of 650 xp into the crystal, which is then 650 less xp going toward becoming a 2nd level character. If she wanted to gain access to White Magic, either through unlocking White Mage or even Red Mage, she would have to invest 250 into the crystal initially to open up that class at first level, again meaning 250 less xp being used to increase character level at the expense of gaining access to new spells that would still consume MP normally, and as Ninjas don't usually have a MP pool that could prove troublesome.
