Canicus did not like this one bit, he should be in the midst of battle rather than watching the fighting from a distance. He had been called to war by a much higher power than this so-called High General, just watching did not suit him at all. He should be down there splitting flesh, cracking bones, and purifying the weak with Wengijembdon's holy flames not simply standing around watching while the rank and file had all the fun.

Just as he was about to turn and voice his complaint to the High General the scene below changed immensely. From deep within the ruins there erupted a bright vortex of light and an eerie fog spread over the battlefield. It seemed fairly obvious to Canicus, as it should to anyone with any sort of training in the use of magic, that this was a ritual intended to turn the tide of battle, but looking amongst his fellow Blades he guessed that only the female had any sort of training in magic at all. The point of this ritual became glaringly obvious as the fog was pushed back by the abjurers of the Trinity Defensive; the slain had risen again and were rejoining the fight!

This battle had just gotten interesting, the tide had turned as Wengijembdon's teachings state that it can at any time. Their men were now dropping like flies beneath the onslaught of the risen dead. Canicus barely even heard the orders barked from the High General as he drew his greatsword, the weapon of his God, and rushed into the fray behind the mounted human and female elf. Surely it was Wengijembdon's will that he now join this fight, and he was eager to do so!

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for not having posted yet, I've been sick the last few days, so between that and work I haven't had time for much else. I'll try to get something in by the weekend..

What do you say Eol, Donald Duck a better fit for Solo than Gosling?

Subject: AC for 3e and PF

Starting with 3e AC went to positive numbers, basically the attack roll is against your AC, so in order to hit your 19 AC an opponent would need to roll at least a 19 to attack (including their bonuses). So the higher the number on your AC the better.

Touching on what Ayrn said about rogue tactics, with my character's choice of Teamwork Feat and the Solo Tactics ability, as long as I am flanking a target I do an extra +1d6 damage. We could both flank single targets to take them down that much faster as we'd both do extra damage from flanking.

And yes, I know that is a metagaming way of thinking about it, but in character terms they would easily be able to formulate some sort of strategy to double-team a tougher opponent to keep him off his guard in order to strike more precisely for greater effect.

It is a little known fact, that I originated the custom of handing out welcome towels to the newbies. You'll know soon enough why you're going to want to keep one handy I'm sure. I have a wide selection here in a variety of colors, so take your pick, and enjoy the Inn, don't mind the madness!

Subject: The opening of Fallout 3 says it all...

"War never changes."

As I imagine it, the tenets of the religion of War would say something along the lines of, "Death is an expected outcome, and a natural part of the progression of the world around us. There can be no war without death."

I may be way off base with this, but it's the way my character will likely view the world anyway because as an Inquisitor he has more freedom to go against the usual tenets of the religion if he feels it serves the higher will of his God. That said, I could easily see him striking up a deep fellowship (not a friendship mind you) with a worshipper of the Goddess of Darkness.

Subject: Salvator,

I don't think my character would have any problems with your rogue and his, shall we say, blood lust. He is after all an Inquisitor worshipping the God of War, and as such is Neutral himself. He finds his purpose on the battle field, charging through and possibly burning through ranks upon ranks of enemies.

With War's (I can't remember the God's name off the top of my head) impartial views and tendency to favor the underdog I feel that even as a Divine caster style character my Ifrit would lean more toward siding with the highest bidder, because war does not care who wins, loses, or dies at the end of the day, war is a messy business..

Your rogue may kill in the name of Good, mine kills in the name of his God; and this long war has made for a lot of opportunity to serve his deity's will.

A Bard could fill the skill role, add a splash of arcane magic, and even do some light healing. Not to mention the party buffs one would bring to the table. Just saying...

As long as you are even remotely familiar with 3.5 D&D then PF will be a breeze to pick up. Ayrn already provided the link to the SRD page in your introductory thread, and you can find any and all information you'll need to make whatever character you desire. Be it the standard iconic Human Fighter or something more exotic like my Ifrit Inquisitor.

There are usually all kinds of games going on, the recruitment thread is a great place to start looking.

I know Aryn mentioned it already, but I'll add to it, there is currently a Fathfinder game recruiting that I am participating in, that I know still needs a few players to get it going.. So if you find a moment, take a look over at the King's Blades thread and see if you wouldn't be interested in joining up and adding another to our roster.

Standard deity selection from the core book, or you have a pantheon you use for the campaign?

I have access to quite a few books, that's why I asked about the race and class restrictions, I have a copy of the Advanced Race Guide, and was thinking of maybe toying with one of the "featured races" as an option. I haven't decided on a class just yet, the race will likely play a big part in that choice.

I know you've already said Pathfinder, so already you have my interest. I just have a couple questions I need answered. What starting level will the PCs be, how are you wanting to handle ability score generation, how much starting gold if we are above 1st level, and any restrictions to race and class?

I keep meaning to get a concept written up for this game, I've just been so busy with the new job that I keep forgetting to get that done. I have Monday off, so I may be able to do it then. As for right now though, I'm tired and heading to bed, my weekend is booked up with some loverly time with my beautiful daughter, and so I'll either get something done Sunday night or Monday during the day sometime.

Topic: You want to play a WHAT?!? (strange character ideas)
Subject: I'm still not sure why;

I personally at one point played a Halfling Rogue, nothing strange there right? Well this particular rogue had an accident experimenting with some volatile alchemical reagents and mutated himself into a bug-man (Insectile template, I forget which book).

The poor little guy was so sickened by his appearance that he became a recluse and lived in a cave all by himself trying to reverse his condition. That same campaign we had a Raptoran and a Catfolk if I remember correctly, so my bug, a bird, and a cat.

My character ended up destroying that campaign pretty quickly as I played him true to form, paranoid, reclusive and very protective of his personal space. The abilities granted by the template made for some extremely useful tricks for a Rogue to have, but his personality was just too strong.

The extra arms made for extra attacks, perma-spiderclimb made for some interesting moments, and tremorsense insured no one ever snuck up on him in his cave. I wouldn't mind revamping that character at some point and maybe lightening his personality a bit and have him actually questing to try to find ways to reverse his condition.

Subject: yep,

That was pretty much what I assumed. I referenced MMOs because that's what it felt like to me, millions of "players" sharing a world, questing and monster hunting, perhaps a hint of PVP thrown in between rival "clans" or "guilds" of players. I'm definitely interested, but as I said not sure I have to time to commit...

In regards to this "holo-game" you have mentioned, are we talking like a fully immersive virtual reality style MMO of sorts, or am I understanding this incorrectly? I don't know if I have time to commit to a game at this point, but I'll be lurking and if I can't take it anymore I may break down and throw you a profile and see if I can't get it on this..

As much as I would love to hop in on a game and help another new DM learn the ropes, I just quite honestly don't have the time or energy to devote to a game right now, even one that would only be one post weekly. I wish you the best of luck though, it looks as though you have plenty of interest as it is.
