Topic: So I've been asked to run another game...
Subject: Good to know

I think I'll finally try my luck at a concept I came up with a year or so ago for another game, I'll get back to you once I work out a character sheet.

Topic: So I've been asked to run another game...
Subject: I feel kinda stupid

I was looking over a handful of the races, and I noticed that there wasn't a detailed entry for humans or Sils, unless I missed it somehow, so are humans exactly as presented in the PHB?

Subject: I know

I'm skimming through the races now. I'm going to weigh all my options then decide something.

Subject: I'm very interested in joining

I have no background in Audalis whatsoever, but I will learn. I'll come up with a concept and get something written up when I find I free moment. If you get enough players before I get submitted then I guess I'll just miss out on the game.

Zeph Blighthunter
RedWyrm Cafeteria
Week 1 - Monday afternoon

Shoving one last spoonful into his mouth Zeph placed the bowl on the floor for Sintan to have a quick something to eat before getting up and adjusting his hood out of habit. He started limping toward the door, making his way to class briefly looking over his shoulder to be certain Sintan was not too far behind him. This would be a long walk, but he would not ask the other students for even the slightest bit of assistance.

He had to admit to himself though, he was eager to get to this class. He had heard that this particular instructor would be able to teach even him to fight to his fullest potential.

The door Leo brought you through has no hinges on your side of the wall. Nor is there any knob, keyholes, or any other indicators of a way to open it.

Subject: question

It has already been stated that weapon use is frowned upon, but that leaves quite a bit of room for magic users, or would attack spells be considered weapons in this case? Just curious...

Not saying Zeph is even remotely considering getting involved, I just happen to know one of the halflings is a spell caster.

Topic: So who was your first?
Subject: Well since this has been revived apparently.

To start with, I was not born yet either in 1982, but that is not really the point is it?

My first RP characters were all in free form role plays played on message boards or over AIM, very few of which I really remember beyond my old standby Drax Orin. Drax was a half-demon (not pit fiend/balor type, but more Charmed type) Elf. In my world's mythos elves and demons were polar opposites, elves filling the role angels fill in most world but being earth-bound and very close to nature. He was an immensely powerful (and sadistic at time) individual, and was retired because he was practically a god anyway.

As for D&D characters, it was 3rd edition, and he was a ranger (melee and minor magic use, the combo appealed to me), 6th level as I recall, I forget what race but I think Half-Elf. He only lasted 2-3 sessions because at that time I was playing with a DM who constantly wanted to start new games just to roll up new characters to play.

Topic: Hey everyone.
Subject: art

That depends entirely on your definition of artists, some writers feel they are artists, some people would not consider Photoshop generated abstract wallpapers to be art (which I make on occasion), and others still may just dabble in a doodle here or there. To me all these people are artists to a degree of the word, but not everyone feels that way.

Allow me to also welcome you to the mad house. It really isn't so bad here once you get used to it, or your mind finally cracks. Whichever happens first.

Subject: test

As Ariel'lyndara lifts the first two blades she notices that they seem heavier than one would expect a short sword to usually be, yet they are perfectly balanced and the weight does not seem to be a hindrance at all. Other than that nothing seems, at first glance, to be out of place about the swords. As she begins her search for secret doors she finds one on the wall opposite of the one they entered through, but finds no apparent switch to open said door.

Further examinations reveal the blades to be completely identical in every way, down to the runic figures carved in the blade above the hilt, which do not resemble a language any of you have ever seen.

As Khetarin looks around the room looking for magical clues he finds that the blades do not give off any magical aura whatsoever, however, he does spot several glowing runes on the east wall which appear to be a message from a previous initiate, as he focuses his sight on them they seem to shift and form familiar words, "The key is not to worry about which blade, but to find the switch, any blade will do, but the way will only open if the two remaining blades are on the outer stands." Lucky for the group that Varen does not seem to have the rooms checked for messages like this very often.

As Ulfr sniffs around the room the majority of scents she catches seem to be focused around the three pillars, the south wall which the group entered through, and the north wall where Ariel'lyndara is currently searching for hidden doors. She seems to get particularly anxious along the north wall, as if nervous about something beyond.

Zeph Blighthunter
Cafeteria
Week One - Monday Afternoon

As the tour group had made its way down the hall toward the cafeteria they had failed to notice the short, hooded figure limping down the hall behind them accompanied by a wolf. If they had noticed him they may have tried to talk to him, and the last thing he wanted was a handful of freshmen trying to poke fun at him.

Another year, another group of fools to contend with, I just need to remember this is for the better good..., he thought as he hung back to avoid catching up with the group.

No sooner than the group of fish had made there way into the cafeteria Zeph caught sight of what appeared to be, and turned out to be, a flying bowl of gruel. Instinctively he dodged over to the wall as the bowl flew over his head, he had learned from a young age to dodge things that were thrown at him, a skill that had come in handy even now.

Grumbling under his breath he thought to himself as he made it to the cafeteria doorway, I had hoped to avoid those brutish orc-kin, but it would appear that isn't going to happen, who else could be behind something like this?

Before entering the area he made sure to adjust his hood to hide his face as best he could and motioned for Sintan to come to his side as they walked into the room and headed for the available bowls of food. He looked up only briefly to see that the Orcs were harassing a Halfling and an Elf. He shook his head slowly as he reached for his bowl and thought to himself, Maybe this could work out for the greater good, they may kill the Elf and get kicked out of the school, or the Elf may manage to kill them and get himself kicked out. Either outcome works for me, no more Orcs, no new Elf.. On the plus side though, at least for once they seem to have someone other than me to pick on...

Carrying his now cold bowl of gruel to a far table away from the commotion he sat down and began spooning the slop into his mouth, trying to remain hidden under the hood as he did so, hoping to draw no attention from either group and for once enjoy a meal without having a bowl broken in his general vicinity.

I'm kinda liking this whole argument, it shows a real thought process and shows that not everyone is just going to listen to the other person just because. I think this needs to play out a little more. As for an actual update, I'll try to update on the skill checks, detect magic, and other things Monday, I may be able to work something in tomorrow after work though..

Ion, Varen in fact did not have a sword on him in the throne room. And while I fully applaud your logic, I must admit that is not what I had in mind. But a good DM knows how to think on his feet, and I intend to do just that.

Brianna, where exactly are you searching, and for anything in specific beyond the obvious that you are seeking an exit?

So let's say 2 missing fingers on his left hand (right handed though) and a minor but permanent limp due to his legs being broken repeatedly. What sort of penalties are we looking at there?

Topic: RedWyrm School of Online Adventuring - Q&A
Subject: dunno

More than likely Zeph will just avoid this particular Elf for the time being, wouldn't want to jeopardize his place in this school just yet after all.

A few questions, if I decide the brutal lifestyle this poor goblin grew up in has left him more or less physically handicapped (for lack of a better word), would that impose skill penalties? For instance, if he lost an eye would he have a penalty to checks involving sight? Would missing fingers impose penalties on checks using his thieves' tools? Would a permanent limp impose a penalty to Move Silently, or even lower his speed? I'm tinkering around with a few ideas as to how damaged he actually is, both physically and mentally.

Subject: This should be interesting

I have been looking over everyone's character sheets, and I just happened to notice that our friend the Wood-Elf Ranger has chosen Goblinoids as his favored enemy, this should play out nicely with Zeph being a Goblin with a particularly strong hatred of Elves after his encounter with the Half-Elf...

Probably should have made that clearer, but everyone is in the room, it is a bit of a team building exercise as well. The pedestals stand maybe 4 feet tall, just out of the reach of a small character like a halfling. And yes, this means you are all locked in a room with no way out in sight with a wolf who may or may not take too kindly to being "caged". That all depends on the druid though.

I'll work out a character asap, probably be Monday before I get anything else posted though to be honest. I may be able to fit something in tomorrow after work, but I'm making no promises.
