Just how high up are we, are we talking a 10, 20, 30 foot drop out the window, more or less? Also, what are the odds that Gronz, knowing it may come down to leaping out of a window, set up something below to cushion the fall even just a little?

Subject: Echo's warning

Echo had initially hoped he was just hearing the sounds of normal traffic outside, but when the streets began to clear he knew something was up, something serious. He turns to the group with a sense of urgency in his voice he calls out as quietly as possible while still being sure they could all hear him, "Hey guys, I don't mean to rush things, but it would appear we've got company coming our way, and quickly. I'm also pretty sure we're not going to be going out the way we came in, so if anyone has any better ideas now would be the time to speak up!"

I put Labyrinth on my additions to the list, not sure why it would be troubling to anyone with at least half-way decent taste in movies. Especially a classic like that one.

However the "End of the Rainbow" is a rather crowded bar run by Rainbow-pride Leprechauns, and smells of Irish Whiskey and cheap cologne.

I wish I could find my Player's Handbook, I needs it now!

Okay, update is posted, hopefully we can get this underway.

I hope no one minds the Q/A with Sheriff Green being cut short, it really seemed to be dragging on in my opinion though, I kept hearing the Monty Python "Get on with it!" in my head as I was writing the update.

Before the sheriff can address any further questions a voice can be heard calling out from across the square where you all have gathered.

"Mister Green, Mister Green!!" the voice calls, a voice you soon come to realize belongs to a young human boy no older than 11 years of age by your best guesses. The sheriff turns his attentions to the distraught boy and asks him, "What is it Jonas?" The boy, slightly out of breath, pants out his reply, "Papa's tools have vanished again, we was working in the workshop and next thing we know the tools is just gone!"

The sheriff sighs heavily, the expression on his face tells you this has become a rather annoying norm lately with things just vanishing. He turns his attention back to you, "Well friends, it looks like you get to investigate the latest theft first hand, that is why you were called for after all." He then looks back to the boy, who is staring up at the hobgoblin in awe, hints of fear in his young face, but mostly curiosity, "Jonas, lead these men to your father's workshop, they have been sent to help and need to speak to him about the theft." The boy pulls his gaze from the goblinkin and gives the sheriff a small salute like children will, and turns on his heels, leading the way to his home, assuming you will be following close behind.

My personal opinion on the matter is that it is impossible to define a cultural mass like geekdom with a simple list of 20 movies, there are several sub-cultures within geekdom that many of us belong to. You have your gamer geeks, comic geeks, Ren-Faire geeks, Otaku to a certain extent, and the list could go on and on. You can't make a list and say that you have to like the majority of the list to be a geek, because there are other things that may make you more of a geek than someone else who liked the entire list. A comic geek isn't going to like some of the things a gamer likes, and vice versa. Geekdom, like humanity itself, is far to diverse to cram into a tiny list and say "Like this or GTFO!" It just doesn't work that way...

Labyrinth

The Dark Crystal

Gremlins

Any of the comic based movies might as well be on the list.

The Hobbit (The classic animated rendition was great in my humble geekly opinion)

The Princess Bride

Donnie Darko

Back to the Future

While not quite as good or mainstream as the LotR movies, there have been a couple DnD movies.

and while they are not technically movies, the Sci-Fi channel mini-series Tin-Man and Alice are great!

If I think of anything else I'll add on

Subject: Echo stands guard.

Confident that the Dwarven brothers had the rescue efforts handled Echo resumes his post watching the doors leading out of the main warehouse, keeping his sharp Half-Elven senses open to any sounds or sights that may alert him to trouble. He wasn't sure what to make of the cellar full of what they could only assume were slaves, but they had a job to do and who was he to question the contract? Besides, slavery was perfectly legal in the city, breaking and entering however was not, so they had to be careful about getting caught red handed.

Gronz assisted in the breaking of chairs and overturning of the table, as much as he hated being told what to do by someone so small. With the broken furniture in place blocking the door somewhat he turned again to the group quickly, knowing they had little time before more assailants rushed them. "This particular door leads toward the Warden's Office, meaning the Warden's personal guard are likely the ones heading this way. I don't know about you four but I have no desire to face them. The door on the wall opposite your cells will lead us toward the exit though, it won't be easy, but the sooner we get out of this damn prison the sooner you can get into hiding somewhere or get in touch with any contacts you have to get you out of town."

While the dwarves may be able to see in the darkness below just fine Echo knew that the others, himself included, would have a harder time seeing down below. He cleared his mind and began the arcane motions and chants to cast the only spell he could to illuminate the room below. As he finished the spell 4 floating lights appeared in the room below, bathing the room below in light, revealing the multitude below.

Seeing a break in the action Gronz quickly digs the 2 daggers he had hidden on his person out and holds one out in each hand. "Probably shoulda thought of this sooner, but I have these that someone can use." He then took the swords he could get from the fallen guards and offered them up as well. It seemed they were going to have to do this the hard way, which he had hoped to avoid, the fee he had been paid was not enough to put his life in this much danger. "Prepare yourselves as best you can, we've got a long run ahead of us."

The sheriff shrugged briefly, "If you can get him to talk to you, you're welcome to see if old Elkas Bronzefoot of The Red Oak will let you examine the steins we recovered from the forest just before your arrival, assuming of course he hasn't already cleaned them and put them back to use among his normal patrons."

The mayor spoke now, adding his two cents, "We have thought ourselves that this seems like a game to these crooks, if it was about the thefts then why steal such small things and then leave them lying around the forest? All the children and normal suspects have been questioned, none seem to give us any further reason to suspect they are behind the thefts, in fact they have all been victims at one point or another as well. As far as I am aware there are no burial sites in the forest, but you never really know if elves or some other forest dwellers had settlements within these woods before we set up here generations ago, they may have ancient burial grounds we know nothing about."

Subject: Answers

The sheriff had not expected so many questions at once, but did the very best he could to answer each and every one of them.

Taking a deep breath he paused for just a brief moment to sort through all the information they were requesting, "I'm afraid you'll be unable to see the items that have been recovered, as there have been far too many items stolen and recovered, and they have all been returned to their rightful owners as they were found. As for where they were found, the items have been scattered through many different parts of the forest, some on the outskirts, some in pretty deep, some have even been found in trees, we've been unable to determine any pattern based on where the objects are found."

He stopped again for just a moment to ponder on the question of who had found the items, "It may be easier to ask who has not found a missing item, every time someone, anyone, goes into the forest they find at least one missing item. We have no idea how they are getting into the town, shops, or homes they have taken things from, as I said, they leave no tracks." He shook his head and took another deep breath, "The items that have been taken have been fairly normal items, minor everyday items of no particular value at all. Anything from pots and kettles to games and toys have come up missing and been recovered within a week of vanishing. Perhaps the most notable item taken though was the shield of Sir Victus, who retired here with his wife after a long career of adventuring, the shield vanished from his widows home during the night about 4 days ago and was recovered just yesterday. The shield seems unharmed and the widow was glad to have it back. None of the regular guards have been relieved of duty, they're all fine men and have never given me reason to dismiss them. No traders have reported missing items or robberies on the roadways, but that doesn't mean they just didn't notice anything missing, I do know we haven't recovered anything that hasn't been reported missing by a citizen."

When addressed by the dirty one he grimaced slightly but answered his questions as well, "The town has no sewer system or caves anywhere for miles and miles, the forest borders the Norther and Western edges of town, the Southern and Eastern borders are grasslands for miles. There are no mountains, ruins, old castles, or anything of that manner around here. The robberies have been going on now for roughly two and a half to three months now, and I cannot recall the last time a druid came through these parts, so I can't imagine that we would've offended one."

Staying alert and ready Echo makes his way over to the cellar door and waits until Daleel is able to get over and attempt to get them past the lock. He keeps his crossbow held ready, aimed at the door just in case something or someone on the other side is feeling less than hospitable.

I think I will commit to this, I've been waiting for this since you last announced Season pt 2. I'll try to keep up with posting or at least let you know when I'll be delayed and whatnot. Just please try to be patient with me, I've been under a lot of stress, but this may just be what I need to loosen some of that up. I'll let the other players decide what they'd like to play and just fill whatever role is needed by the party.

I hadn't even realized the QA had gotten away from me like it has. No walls, the town is too small for such things. No one has noticed any mages, and most of the common folk avoided you during any attempts to gather information, some even thinking that some of you may in fact even be the thieves they are dealing with now. I'll try to get a reply from the sherriff posted when I find a free moment, but work has taken up a lot of my free time.

I'm not sure I have time for another game, as I am currently part of the delay in several games going on right now, but the summoner sounds amazingly fun for someone who's favorite Final Fantasy character is one Rydia of FFIV fame. But, if you don't mind putting up with my delays in yet another game I'm willing to give it a shot if the spot hasn't been claimed while I type this.

Out of curiosity, where might I find more information on the class?

Sheriff Green glared at the Mercenary that had addressed them so crossly and retorted, "We have reason to believe the thieves are based in the forest because some items have been recovered with in the forest! I know you city-dwelling adventurer types probably think we're just running some backwater half brained operation out here, but I assure you I would not present you with leads we did not have evidence to back up! We have done several sweeps of the forest as well, we find the occasional stolen item, but never any other sign of the thieves. No sign of a camp, no tracks, no voices, our hounds haven't even gotten a scent to go off of from any of the items." The sheriff cracked his knuckles and continued, "Now does anyone have anything else they would like to ask, something useful perhaps?"
