Still not sure when I will be able to find time to work on this, but rest assured as soon as I can find time I will pick this back up, or do a quick adventure for higher level members of the Group, a 12th level gestalt mini-game of sorts...

Zeph
Red Wyrm Cafeteria
Tuesday -- Week 1

As Kiirnon dramatically removed his hood and scarves Zeph scowled just a little bit, trying to hide it though, Another Elf-kin, though this one is different, descendant of the Deep Elves it would seem, he likely knows a thing or two about racial discrimination and human prejudices.

Turning his attention again to Darkon he shot back, "Yes, I am very much against having an appointed leader, because the last person who thought to declare himself our leader ATTACKED me, he did not TRY, he acted, and my chest still bares the bruise to prove this!" He took a breath, clearly not finished. "Another thing, and this comes both from my time here and among my people, people in so-called Leadership positions tend to let that power get to their heads. The power tends to drive even the noblest of people toward madness. The history of every race is full of tales of noble kings becoming tyrants."

Since he hadn't bothered to pull his hood back up since the incident among the imps here was little point in revealing his race like the dark skinned elf, "I am called Zeph, the wolf; as you may have figured out by now; is Sintan, my loyal companion. I am also trained in stealth, foraging, finding and noticing things, can see in the dark, and Sin and I form a nice strike team, especially when she can bring a target down. Oh, and I can do just a bit of magic, but I usually don't."

((For those of you who don't know, Zeph is meant to be a melee combatant, a druid focused on combat while wild shaped, not on casting, the levels of rogue are to add some damage output to a usually difficult concept to pull off in DnD, especially when the wolf can provide flanking. He is no healer, not even a half-ass support caster, and sure isn't a nuke.))

Zeph
Red Wyrm Cafeteria
Tuesday-Week 1

Zeph looked up from his current task to see who had spoken, and answered back, "Elf, I appreciate your willingness to help me earlier, which was most unexpected I might add. However I would like to remind you of a couple things, first off, you are not the only one with the skills you mentioned, I am trained in stealth, know the ways of the woods, and while I may be no tracker I would wager that Sintan is still a better tracker than you are because of her keen nose."

Ironically, for what seemed the first time since he had joined the school, Sintan was nowhere to be found. Zeph had decided it would be best for her not to be crowded into this kitchen with the rest of these people, and had let her out into the courtyard, with permission of course, to run and be outdoors for a while. She'd never go too far without Zeph though, not with the bond the two shared.

"Don't get me wrong, I am by no means nominating myself for a Leadership position. Another thing I think I should point out, these exercises are meant to teach us teamwork, not how to elect one person as leader and follow orders. A leader is not always required to facilitate teamwork. Sintan and I have been a team for some time now and we are partners, not master and servant."

Zeph never did attack Steel (not physically anyway), and as far as the game went it doesn't appear that Sintan even got a bite in.

As for the how and why, its a personality thing, part of the character, and there have been multiple explanations posted so I will not bother boring you with yet another explanation.

I'm not normally one to take things personally, so no worries there.

Besides, Zeph is meant to be a melee character eventually, and as such must learn that melee is not his strong point. I envision him getting his ass handed to him in training, and having the instructor suggest he stick to weapons that rely more on speed and agility than brute strength (reflected by gaining Weapon Finesse as 3rd level feat when he levels)

The Goblin did no such thing! You knew there would be consequences to your actions just as well as he did.

No hard feelings I hope.

It has been said that much of the culture and technology of the "Age of Man" has been lost, but wouldn't there still be undead old enough to possess such knowledge, especially liches, vampires, and other highly intelligent undead, in fact couldn't one assume there are even gnomish liches or vampires, thus meaning gnomes really aren't extinct after all, just undead. And what about the Svirfneblin, are they gone too?

Also, wouldn't the Nine Crowns have access to a multitude of human, elven, dwarven, etc, etc souls from which to gain information?

Just want to point out that I am still interested in joining, the character I am working on is following the template of the Unlikely and at time Unwilling Hero. She should be fun to play if you actually approve her..

The only reason its taking me this long to get anything to you is because I just got my computer back up and running after a massive HD failure.

Zeph Blighthunter
Prof. O'Leary's Office
Tuesday Morning

Zeph started to protest that he had no problems with authority, but instead decided it would be best to hold his tongue until he was in her office. Turning to head toward Professor O'Leary's office he gave Sintan a short whistle, signalling her to follow him.

Arriving at the Professor's office he let himself in and held the door for Sin as well. Before the Professor could protest the wolf's presence in her office the goblin, hood still down, glared in her direction with his glazed, dull eyes and said quite sharply, "When we first met regarding my acceptance in your school I made it quite clear that Sintan was to stay at my side. You had no objections then and there is no reason to object to her being here now!"

Taking a seat he took a quick breath and continued, not waiting for a reply, "I am not to blame for that monk and his attitude. He feels that violence is the only way to get his point across, just look at this incident, I offered a non-violent solution and he lashed out at me!"

His peace said he loosened his glare and lowered his tone, adding, "Now, if you must punish me for his rash actions, I ask only that you not take it out on Sin as well. She was only doing what comes naturally to her, protecting her family. You may not understand it, but that is what we are, a family, she is all I have, and I am all she has.."

I've got 2 concept floating about in my head for this, one monster type, the other, while monstrous, a human sympathizer of sorts (half human). The concept for the human-ish one seems to be flowing in my mind more than the other, but we'll see.

Let's just say that years of pent up rage boiled over and he lashed out at you, no need to worry about the how and why anyway.

However, I am rather bored, so I think I'll break it down. As you may know from my back story Zeph was bullied constantly growing up, then maimed and left for dead, and even bullied here in the school. Because of this he has a lot of contempt for most other living creatures. Something clicked in his head during the Imp Revolt, he began comparing their plight to his own. When you came out yelling and threatening the imps it was a lot like a War Veteran having a flashback, and he reacted with all the hatred and rage he has kept bottled up for years, lashing out as he always wished he could against his believed oppressors.

Zeph Blighthunter
Outside Armory
Tuesday Morning

Realizing the threat had been neutralized Sin returned once again to Zeph's side, eager to make sure he was okay. The Goblin absently ran a hand through the wolf's coat all the while staring at the monk locked in place.

It would be so easy to just hamstring him right now and be done with him, but I must control myself or face a similar or worse fate myself..

Zeph Blighthunter

Tuesday Morning

Still gasping for breath Zeph coughs a forced couple words at the elf that has stepped in between him and the human, "I do *cough cough* do not think *cough* that he is going to *cough* listen to reason *cough cough*."

((Btw, Sin would attempt to trip, bringing her foe prone and more to her level, just thought I'd point that out))

It may seem that he is leaning away from the Evil by helping the Imps, but then again Imps are innately evil too, so helping them may not be a good act per say. As for not appearing evil, he takes great measures to control himself within the school so as to avoid expulsion, if he could get away with it he'd probably slit every other student's throat in their sleep.

I understand what you're saying Steel, I'm not arguing with you or your actions in character, I'm only explaining things from Zeph's point of view. You grabbed a weapon, and immediately began yelling, making threats of banishment or violence, that isn't very negotiation-like.

Speed, while I appreciate your assistance, I'd like to point out that your favored enemy is Goblinoids, and you are willingly moving to help a Goblin, this strikes me as kinda odd. I understand you are siding with Zeph because he is advocating a nonviolent approach, but I think his race would also play a role in Darkon's choice to get in between the two.

All in all this has presented itself as a fun experiment into the personality of a character I fully intend to use as an NPC in later games. If he dies here and now then I will not be too upset, he's really not that viable a melee character at this level as it is with the +0 BAB and STR penalty, and I intend him to be a melee character at one point or another.

While you did offer a so called peaceful solution your first reaction was weapons, as pointed out in character. From the point of view of a bullied Goblin your non-violent solution was nothing but further intimidation and threats aimed at walking all over the oppressed.

Zeph gasped for air after the strike in his chest, coughing even as Sintan lunged forward in his defense.

((since I have no way of knowing if the stunning fist will stun me I'll keep my reactions verbal))

"No fool, I listen clearly, even from the start you suggested weapons, citing a particular weakness to silver and fire. Had you even been remotely willing to think before acting then weapons would not have been your first suggestion! You are all alike, all vile evil animals, lashing out at anything that is different!"

((If not stunned by the attack then Zeph will draw the scimitar he has and move in to assist Sin, flanking if possible, if he is stunned then I guess he gets to watch in horror as Sin fights for both their lives))

And I don't mean this to deter you or anything, but if you attack Zeph then you have to contend with Sintan as well, and perhaps (depending solely on Meri) a few imps who may now look up to him.

I kinda expected as such, but I intend to play my character as is. He already has nothing but contempt for humans, elves, dwarves, just about everyone. This just kinda pushed him a bit further than anyone has yet to see.

Cameron was feeling pretty confident in himself when he first struck against the robed creature, but not so much so when the "wound" he had inflicted closed up immediately.

What manner of foe is this, have I hooked a bigger fish than I can reel in here?

When the creature turned its attention to him, seeking to lash out its assailant, Cameron snapped out of this train of thought and began to plan his next move as quickly as possible. Not one to stand and die in a hopeless fight Cameron made the only logical choice in his mind, retreat.

Making use of the acrobatic skills (Tumble +10) he had picked up while working on the ship all those years ago he did a back handspring and rolled backwards away from the cloaked figure, not wanting to wait and see what it could do to him. He made his way in the direction of the guild hall, keeping a sharp eye open for more foes (Spot +4), knowing he would need his armor if he was to be any real help to his guild mates.

((Yes this may seem cowardly, but Cameron's more of a tactical retreat and regroup kinda guy, more of a "He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day" deal.))

Zeph Blighthunter
Outside Armory
Tuesday Morning

As the pushy monk came back from the other room with weapons, Zeph gave Sintan a quick look, a look that said to be ready for anything. He helped up the last of the imps and stood facing Steel, giving him a piercing glare.

"No human, that is enough from you! Perhaps you have taken too many blows to the head during your training, but did it ever occur to you that violence and threats are not the only options we have in dealing with the situation?! You are all the same, if something is not like you then it is only fit to work for you or be walked all over. Clearly something is making these poor imps, who even you have admitted are intelligent, revolt regularly. Look around you and think before acting for once in your miserable existence. The imps were not even the only ones effected by your rash decision to resort first to threats of violence and banishment, your Elf-kin friend here, myself, and almost the rest of these students were all struck down by your choice to act without thinking."

Zeph knew, deep in his black empty heart, that this would not sit well with the monk, and so prepared himself (as in declared Dodge) just in case the fool chose once again to act before thinking, this time against him rather than the imps.
