It spits out Kang and Kodos, only they were at a cosplay convention and went admired but largely unnoticed as actual slimy aliens.

I feed it the Vorpal Bunny from Holy Grail and a peanut butter sandwich--on pumpernickel.

Yes, good choices DragoDorn! I just wanted to keep the list relatively short. I hereby replace Mirrormask with Conan the Barbarian, and Krull with Dragonslayer. Willow's got to be on that list somewhere, too--guess I'll bump off the second (and vastly superior) D&D movie.

Well, very nice to see the responses thus far. . .

TheWiz, ShieldWolf and Meredith all make excellent points--we really can’t measure our relative geekiness from a very short list of films, and especially when we don’t know the geek-cred of the original list-maker, and *chuckles* even more so when there doesn’t seem to be a codified set of criteria for being a geek. What type of geek are we trying to measure here: Techie Geek, Sci-Fi Geek, Comic Book/Superhero Geek, Fantasy Geek, Anime Geek, or just all-around Movie Geek?

In the interests of slightly more focused discussion, why don’t we do little “Top 10” lists for a specific sub-genre, such as Meredith’s Fantasy Themed list? Just so long as we keep in mind these are just opinions, and it’s all in fun.

(Btw, TheWiz, your comment about what one reads speaking more volumes than what one watches struck home with me. I’d like to see you start something along those lines in another survey thread. I’m sure the results will be nothing short of fascinating!)

So, with this in mind, here’s my Top 10 Films to See if you consider yourself a Fantasy Geek:

In no particular order
1. Lord of the Rings (trilogy)
2. Legend
3. Ladyhawke
4. Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God
5. Dragonheart
6. Beowulf (2007 Robert Zemeckis)
7. Mirrormask
8. Pan’s Labyrinth
9. Labyrinth
10. Krull

Nah, Loki--all it really means is--you've seen four on this unscientific and subjective list. Is there a film on this list you don't believe qualifies and with what movie would you replace it?

Well Met, Everyone!

Found this list on boardgamegeek.com and wished to share--Someone compiled a list of "Must See" films if a person wished to consider themselves a "Geek." According to the source, you had to have seen 15 out of these 20 to qualify for Geekdom. Not a perfect list by any means ("Repo Man"?) but it might kickstart some great debate.

20. Pirates of Silicon Valley 1999, Martyn Burke

19. Short Circuit 1986, John Badham

18. Hackers 1995, Iain Softley

17. Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan 1982, Nicholas Meyer*

16. WarGames 1983, John Badham

15. Repo Man 1984, Alex Cox

14. Planet of the Apes 1968, Franklin J. Schaffner

13. Alien 1979, Ridley Scott*

12. Akira 1988, Katsuhiro Ôtomo

11. Pi 1998, Darren Aronofsky

10. Office Space 1999, Mike Judge

9. The Original Star Wars 1977, George Lucas*

8. The Matrix 1999, Larry and Andy Wachowski*

7. Metropolis 1927, Fritz Lang

6. Brazil 1985, Terry Gilliam

5. Serenity 2005, Joss Whedon

4. Lord of the Rings 2001, Peter Jackson*

3. Spaceballs 1987, Mel Brooks

2. Bladerunner 1982, Ridley Scott

1. 2001 1968, Stanley Kubrick*

Bonus: TRON 1982, Steven Lisberger

Thus far, I can check off all but 20, 11 and 6. Thirteen of these I own on DVD. There are some glaring omissions, like Dark Star, Silent Running, Freaks, and others. What's your take?

Dear Oner

If you have wizzerd frends, then go feed it with ther little pets. Wizzerds always have little pets--frogs, birds, rats, bats. Ogre not kno why, but never see wizzerd without his little pet. And they always talking to little pet--wizzerds must be crazy. Then when bloodhawk get bigger, feed it kobolds and goblins, maybe an elf. Hope this helps!

Ogre

Dear Ogre,

How many five-year olds can you take in a fight? You're so big and strong, so it begs the question.
