Topic: the allys must fall!
Subject: Well, okay then

Sorry to digress further from the topic at hand, but the game's up.

In all reality, the focus of my comment was to test my skills in person, say at a Red Dragon Inn Get-Together (HINT!). I don't know when the last one was, but it sounds like too rockin' an event to miss out on.

Subject: Gee, I guess I should start us off, huh? Movies

From the LotR Trivial Pursuit Game, which inherently deals with the films

What's the first thing the Helm's Deep defenders see in the darkness as the enemy nears?

Subject: Lord of the Rings Trivia Game

(Because at least one person in another thread voiced support for this. . .)

Greetz, Everyone!

Seems a good place to test our Geek level as it pertains to Lord of the Rings. Just like any trivia game here:

OP posts a question to be answered, answerer does so and posts another.

NO Googling, Wikipedia'ing or other online "research." Read the books or watch the movies.

This game is a Smite-free Zone unless you prove somebody wrong, say a player declares an answer to their question right and is incorrect and you catch them. Cite your source in this case, please.

In the tagline of your post, please indicate whether your question deals with the movies or the books as there are many discrepancies.

The following areas are off limits for questions--questions pertaining directly to special features on the DVDs/Blu-Ray discs and the indexes in the back of Return of the King. If you own a copy of the actual LotR Trivial Pursuit Board Game and wish to ask a question directly from that (see below) the category "Making Movies" is a gray area, be careful.

Good Gaming and let's have fun!

Ooooh, Moscato sounds goooood!

And Greetz and Salutations to you, Celtia!! Wow, with sooo many newbies joining up all of a sudden, you'd think somebody cast Continual Light on the Inn's sign--a beacon to shine upon the realms and draw people to their new digital home! Sounds good to me, let the party roll on--do tell your friends about us, we have the room for 'em.

*tap-tap-thumpa-Thumpa-Waggity-Wag!* Huzzah! New faces make me wonderfully happy. Well, I see your palate prefers the lighter wines, no problem your first glass is on me. But wait--I bought that Gnomes last bunch of flowers yesterday, and already gave them to Celeste OH NO!

"Dun-dun-DUNNNN!"

Well Met, Celeste!

So glad you finally stopped peeking in our windows and joined the rest of us Innmates inside! What drew you in, what compelled you to break your silence? Was it the smell of fresh lamb stew in the kitchen? Was it the sound of revelry that was as open to new friends as old? Was it the burgeoning warmth of the fire in the hearth? Well whatever it was, I'm glad it worked! It just so happens that a traveling Gnomish trader was passing through here just yesterday, and on a hunch I bought his last bunch of magically-preserved flowers. . .for you, m'lady *offers bouquet*. Oh, and your first spiced mead is on me.

Please check out our resident webcomics (I'm sure you know them by now) and vote each day for the Inn at the home page!

Eol your link goes nowhere.

Oh, look--there's Jeremy from "Yellow Submarine."

Ah, yes you're absolutely correct Kaelyn. Paladin class is denied to Night Elves. I'm sure I meant to type Dwarf there, but oh well. You win the Nerd Race. . .this day. I'm still pretty sure I could take you handily in a game of LotR Trivial Pursuit, though. We might have to find out some day (massive hint for another RDI Get-Together).

Anyone else think Gordrem resembles a deathpriest of Orcus with that horned hat?

Yeah, what Ody said--the changes of tone are one of the best things about the strip! The yin and yang, levity and gravity really keep me on my toes as a reader. Honestly, when I first read the series, the art was almost too different from anything else I had read and I found it a little off putting. Thanks for broadening my horizons--a webcomic does not have to be drawn super-crisp and realistic to convey a multitude of emotion. With the great lighting effects on that first panel and the closeup of Gordrem in the last, the drama just explodes off the screen!

Villains are always more interesting--what part will this new wizard have to play??

Topic: the allys must fall!
Subject: Ah, I am the keeper of many secrets. . .

Actually, I have learned a bit of the WoW lingo from playing:

The WoW Board Game + Burning Crusade expansion
The WoW Collectible Card Game, and
The WoW PvP Miniatures Game

However, the actual PC game eludes me. It would also cut into my time here too much. So level and ability progressions plus monster stats, spec-builds and quest strategies do fail me. I'm no more qualified to build a WoW character than those who are paid to powerlevel for others (based on what I've been told about those people). For instance, I thought for sure you'd go with Demon-spec 'Locks for their ability to summon other creatures to your side of the fight. I believed that if these Alliance pallys are better geared than you, they would have better resistances to the Affliction 'Locks spells. So much for my limited knowledge here.

But seriously, I do hope someone here can be more helpful. We at RDI focus a little more on pen-and-paper based role playing games, but there is always hope. Good Luck, runeicfury!!

Let your hatred of the cowardly Alliance fuel you! Give in to the Dark Side, we have cookies!

And how in the Nine Hells did you get a smite already--it sure wasn't from me. *swears in Infernal* This is NOT smite-worthy, people!

So, would you prefer Affliction or Demonology-spec 'Locks?

You can post to this forum with a DSi? Whoah.

Sorry to hear those pesky Human and Night Elf pallys are giving you a hard time. I know next to nothing about World of Warcraft the PC game, but play almost everything else related. Maybe you might find something in the Recruitment threads here that's a little less stressful.

I would suggest hiding in the forest and killing boars for XP, but that joke has been done enough. Umm, just checking, is this PvP or PvE you're having problems with?

I've been staring at this thread long enough, which is to say off and on for the better part of today's web-browsing, just trying to think of a suitable response. First off, I want to second Odyson's sentiments. I humbly thank you as well, Admiral, for the public recognition. *shifts self-consciously in chair* Jeez, I feel like a Private in a room full of Colonels.

When I first joined, such accolades were not my goal. I was too entranced with what a great community there was at Red Dragon Inn. It is still, even after a year, the only such forum in which I participate. Oh, I've looked around at others but for me no place else can compete. Guess I got lucky, really lucky at that, at finding RDI without floundering about in sites that were not active enough or certainly not welcoming enough. That's what is best about Red Dragon Inn. With only a little effort, people just go out of their way to show a new person around and in a short time really invite them into the sense of family we have. So I felt it only natural to do for others what was done for me. *laughs* I still remember giving Odyson the quarter tour of the place and guiding his first steps, as Mr. Conquest did for me. I look on Ody with great pride as I see what a great contributor he's been this past year.

I knew eventually I'd find my place here. True, I'm not active in the actual role-playing aspect of RDI, but if something I post makes you smile or lifts your spirits. . .well, that's just what I do. After a year here, I can't think of anyplace else I'd rather be and shudder to think what my life would be like without this place. You all either keep me sane or add just the right amount of insanity to make life worth it.

Thanks. I mean it.

We have a site dedicated to offering many excellent t-shirt designs at http://207274.spreadshirt.com/ and proceeds go to help fund the costs associated with running Red Dragon Inn. I have about seven thus far and they're quality pieces. Maybe a bit of bribing the Boss, t_catt11 will sway him to releasing that image for t-shirts.

Hobolyra did the art if I recall rightly.

Edit: by "releasing" I mean through spreadshirt, of course. Derp! It is a striking piece though--wouldn't be the first of Hobo's to be thusly transformed.

I don't believe I've seen Amy so fetchingly depicted as she was in that fifth panel! Whoah!

(Edit: on further inspection, I meant to say ROWR!!)

The characterizations are coming along nicely, especially Brad in panel 2 and Jim and Rich in the last panel. Steve's extra-spiky hair just makes him look more manic than usual, heightens the tension in the strip.
