Topic: Reavers in D&D? Subject: Reavers in D&D?
Greetz, All!
So, recently I ordered a bunch of Star Wars miniatures online, ones that on one level or another I felt could be adapted for use in D&D. One group of these really caught my eye--the Yuuzhan Vong. At first blush they evoked a definite Reaver (Firefly) kind of vibe with their ritualistic scarification and ultra-militant and savage ways. The Star Wars wiki page of the Yuuzhan Vong cites that this race was responsible for nearly destroying the New Republic, slaughtering almost 365 trillion during their rampage through Republic systems. This kind of thing gets my attention quickly.
Right now, this idea is just in its beginning stages. Currently I have no idea what CR to make them, what their natural AC bonus should be, or what damage stats to assign their staff weapons which they call “amphistaffs,” which according to Wookiepedia are “capable of spitting venom or coiling around foes.” I’m posting this to see if you, my fellow Inn-mates, think this is worth pursuing further. Do the Githyanki already serve in the role of “otherworldly savages” and fill that need in the mythos? Should I try blending Yuuzhan Vong with Reaver elements, or would that be superfluous? The more I read up on this race the more fascinated I get.
Oh, and here's the page on the Yuuzhon Vong:

Topic: Lord of the Rings Trivia Game Subject: qwerty
If your question comes from the films, I'll say Gollum meant for Shelob the spider to consume Frodo, who had ventured into her caves at Gollum's urging. Gollum would then later pilfer the Precious from Frodo's gear afterwards.
From the films--What color pennants are flown by Eomer's company of riders when they meet Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas on the plains?

*snicker!* let's see who the real geeks are that get the joke. . .
Well Met and Hail, Jen! So glad you found your way to this lovely lil' patch of lunacy we call Red Dragon Inn *Tail Wags!* Please, sit by the fire (as winter's not quite done with us yet) and tell us tales worthy of bards from the far-off lands you've seen.
When you're done with that glass of Moscato, I'll fix you up with a stein of spiced mead but for now, how 'bout a bouquet of wildflowers? At any rate if I can do anything to help get you settled in, just shoot me a PM. Please enjoy your stay and vote for the Inn daily at the Home page!

Topic: Fantasy Gaming Coins From Paizo Subject: My quick review
Well, my order from CoolStuffInc. came in today and now I can speak much more directly as to the quality of this product. The pics on the sites I referenced earlier are just a bit misleading as the luster on the different tones is quite dull save for the platinum pieces. Even so, the platinum coinage tends to look a little too silvery for my taste as it lacks the subtle bluish tint of real platinum. Also, even though the packaging insists these are minted (i.e. struck between dies) some pieces betray a bit of flash around the edges indicating to me that these are either cast in molds or badly struck. I opted for the sets of 10, 50, and 100 denomination coins for the larger size coins and they range in size from just smaller than a nickel to just smaller than a quarter.
The designs on the pieces and the shape of some of them are very striking and each set has a theme, especially the gold pieces which have lots of Dwarven imagery on them. They feel reasonably solid but not as heavy as I would like. Each coin back is covered with a different pattern of scroll-work.
To conclude, the Campaign Coins are a nice novelty item and on the whole I'm satisfied with the four sets of 12 I bought. I don't feel it necessary to rush out and get more for actual table-top play as other reviewers of the product have so excitedly said they would do.

I'm sure a PM to Tiamat, Chessicfayth or myself will answer any questions if the curiosity is too much for you.
We often use a form of shorthand to denote colors of mana used to pay casting costs and to activate abilities
W=White, U=Blue, B=Black, R=Red and G=Green
Cards have different rarities; Common, Uncommon, Rare and Mythic Rare.
Legendary: Only one copy of this card may be in play at any one time, for it represents a unique persona in the game.
We'd break the game for all time if we let TWO Eol's be in play simultaneously!

Topic: Lord of the Rings Trivia Game Subject: Yay!
I'm getting my answer from the books in hopes that such a detail would be true for both. Bilbo wished to avoid the Sackville-Bagginses, more specifically Lobelia and Otho. (for they so coveted the property of Bag End and were quite miffed that it was bequeathed to Frodo instead.)
Your second spelling was right, Celtia, and thanks for saying your question was from the films, as in the books Glorfindel rode Asfaloth, not Arwen. (now my turn to be ninja'd! )
From the books, who is Balin's father?
