I think the 5th panel should be Olan's new avatar XD

Priceless. Lolkat has a gift when it comes to cartoon expressions.

Gotta remember the comic is a bit more on the family friendly side than what is usually popular online. Especially among webcomic fans. Some people just don't want to hear cotton pickin when they can hear another choice adjective...

Subject: final

The final piece of pre-made stuff has been posted, and that is an update to the adorable little guys know as Cidals originally by Alacrity.

I have also reposted my survey of classes and roles from the recruitment thread as an article in the Player's Guild.

Topic: Audalis 4e Translation Project
Subject: Audalis 4e Translation Project

Well I announced it in my Next Gen blog post and now I'm delivering. I hope to spark an interest in 4e among those who haven't tried it out, and also to recruit those gamers who are fluent in multiple editions so that we can bring the magic of Audalis to all editions.

Audalis was once a creative tidbit by our webmaster, and it has grown into a fully-involved community-generated world. Therefore, if you are a registered member, you can (and should be!) contributing to making Audalis a world in line with Eberron, Faerun, and Krynn.

So any of you 4e players please! I need your help getting everything up to date. My translations may be the first, but they aren't absolute. I am always open to changing or updating translations. If you see something off or think it should be a different way, submit it (to this thread or to a staff member via PM) and we'll talk. Translations aren't exact and there may be room for two different versions.

While we're at it, if you see something that only has 2e or 3e rules, feel free to translate them so we have 2e, 3.5 and 4e rules for every article.

Keep an eye on the Audalis sections for new edits, as well as this thread.

The first update is the Tides of Magic article originally by our webmaster himself.

More will be coming in the future.

I played with the ToB a *lot* before out group evolved to 4e.

If you take the time to really optimize a normal character I think you can achieve the same results as a ToB character. The ToB just makes it easier to achieve a high level of power.

That being said, dipping here or there into the ToB is something that any non-spellcasting character should really consider. It's a powerful book.

I will say now that you can easily move right up to him with a move action, and then use your standard to twin strike or hit and run.

That would be a decent idea. Basic, but decent.

I just worked a 12 hour shift and have to wake up in 6 hours to do another 12... then repeat. So chances are that map won't be ready until Sunday.

For planning purposes assume everyone can make it to the lone kobold with a single move action (even you gboy, since you're in front.)

Although chances are only Tus Lased will be able to get behind him (8 speed) and even then will probably take an attack of opportunity. I don't see why him and gboy couldn't set up a flank though on the first turn.

Working on getting a map of the room. I have to make my own considering the image provided is copyrighted.

The room is pretty much square with a small hallway straight ahead (behind the pit with ooze) and a hallway to the right.

Subject: intro

You see a glowing green substance in a rather large pit that fits in the middle of this room.

The light is dim, and a single kobold stares at the door as you open it, gaping at you.

“Intrudersss! Intrudersss!”

The kobold carries a sling, and quickly reaches for a stone as it hisses out...

OOC: Wasting no time here!

Initiative order doesn't necessarily correlate to post order, but feel free to be strategical in the Q&A thread before you post.

Initiative order:
1. Warden
3. Druid
2. Ranger
4. Shaman
5. Warlock

Topic: The Curse of Kobold Hall - 4th edition D&D
Subject: Skill Challenge

Cain takes off running with a quickness that only a dwarf can have. Well, it's not really a quickness but more of a large gathering of momentum.

He bowls over brushes and small trees, taking in everything he can remember...

Meanwhile, Adanion scours the area looking for tracks or something of use. His assumption is right. This tribe seems less interested in making traps and ambushes and more interested in pure destruction. There is a small trace of rather obvious tracks starting from a clearing a few feet from the lake. (success number 1 - perception)

Milanne (see Q&A forum on posting assumptions and rolling but I went ahead and used your rolls and post for this one) scurries up a tree and looks around to see a few small camps. Too bad they are abandoned. She does spy a small path between the trees off to the north. (success number 2 - athletics)

Verion broke apart from the group to make a small pilgrimage to the pile of rocks. He communed with the spirits for guidance, awaiting their reply. You notice the area is distinctly quiet, almost like a shrine. This is not the way to go. (success number 3 - perception)

Cain returns only to confirm what the party has pretty much assumed. They need to head north.

Toriath delivers his words of warning as they head onward.

(OOC: OK so this was an easy skill challenge. Everyone had huge modifiers for their skills they chose and the target rolls for this one were pretty low. Toriath just so happened to act last after the party got the 4 successes they needed.)

The rest of the travel time was spent getting through the forest, and within no time you arrive at Kobold Hall. It stands only one story tall, and quite smaller than you would have expected after all the hype.

One of you will have to open the door...

(OOC: Marching Order! There is a single door, so only one of you can fit through at a time. Two of you can stand behind the opener and be able to see clearly inside - assuming good lighting - and the other two will have to wait.)

Topic: The Curse of Kobold Hall - 4e D&D Q&A
Subject: some basics

A word on actions. Each round you get a standard, a move and a minor action, as well as unlimited free actions. You also get one immediate action that can use in between your turns.

You each have at-will, encounter, and daily powers. You recharge your daily powers after 8 hours of sleep, and you recharge your encounter powers after 5 minutes of rest. Since this skill challenge is an encounter you can use any powers you might have. Most skill checks are standard actions.

Never assume the actions of another player or assume your action succeeds. Always word your posts in generalities.

"I jump over the rock, climb the tree, and yell down that a monkey is up here. My companions ready themselves for battle."

That makes too many assumptions.

"My character will attempt to leap over the rock and climb his way up the tree. If there is any danger along the way he will alert the others."

That is much better because it gives me at least three rounds of actions to work with (a jump check, climb check and perception check). This makes it much easier to plot the encounter out.

Since we're all learning and many of you are new this isn't a big deal, but it would be good to start phrasing our posts like this. You don't have to assume your character is incompetent - you can do basic things like slowly climbing a ladder, running a short distance, drawing a weapon, etc.

You can always PM me, but it requires a skill check or a die roll then chances are you shouldn't assume your character can do it.
