Dime's plans were foiled. So much for playing super spy and talking his way out of this one. Sometimes the Republic can be too good. He knew that there were other agents on this mission, and he should have guessed he would meet one sooner or later, but little did he suspect one would be rescuing him.

"Our influence is not so easily snuffed. You have my thanks and my assurance your deeds will not be wasted."

Knowing that completing the mission would be enough thanks for a fellow agent, as it would be for him were the roles reversed, Dime nodded to the medic and grabbed his all important briefcase in one hand and his heavy blaster in the other. He checked with his companions and then set out behind them.

"I never thought one of the Order was proficient with our 'clumsy' weaponry, heh."

He couldn't resist the comment. Lighten the mood a bit.

Adrian sat in silence and studied his team. He hadn't given them the credit they deserved in the past, but now that they had seen battle and victory together, he felt he could honestly judge them.

Maximus was certainly everything he expected. Strong, powerful, simple, and a bit feral. Arien on the other hand showed a strange wisdom that he lacked previously. Don't execute the imperial? They have your sister you idiot!

Dapple spoke of knowing the empire. Adrian could almost feel the emotions of the others - they were expecting him to chime in, talk about truly knowing the imperials. He would do no such thing, this time. True he wanted nothing more than to slaughter a few Reds for treating him like garbage, or to face some Greys in battle for not respecting his combat abilities - but the Greens were a branch he had little contact with during his tenure. Their commanders were worthy of some of Maximus's or Dapple's "justice," but the grunts?

That wasn't his fight. That was Dapples. It was becoming clear that the young boy either studied them or was trained by them - his moves are nigh identical, as are his dirty tricks. Greens are clearly his territory. Adrian could respect that.

Were this a Red asking for a quick death, Adrian would have been happy to step in and do the deed. But he knew when to stay out of the mess.

After the prisoner was dead, Valentine let the rush of battle get the better of him and his arrogance.

"Touching, but I believe we have a tower to climb. Oh, and though we now know I only need one arm to defeat a Green, I would still appreciate it if someone knew how I could regain feeling, and how to avoid such a fate in the future. Casting a spell might prove difficult otherwise."

He glanced quickly to Kilgrim, then to Dapple before focusing on his arm.

Siegfried stared in utter disbelief. What in the world was going on outside to cause such force. It was clear this was dangerous. He fought his way back into the cave, trying his best not to take another shot to the face. He disabled his attuned senses for the return trip less he be sickened by the smell of blood.

"Roy is dead." He stated calmly, a bit oblivious to the situation with the pit and his climbing set.

"He was impaled by debris from the storm outside. What's worse is that we are essentially trapped for a while. We must go onward deeper into this cave to avoid a similar fate..."

I just got an IM from our DM, who is currently without a keyboard. Since he can only type by copying and pasting letters, I suppose he won't be posting for a while. He doens't know for how long either.

Told me to pass on the news.

Edit: He said he'll post tomorrow

Siegfried was caught a bit off guard. This was definately not what he had planned to see.

"I thought sure you guys would be a little further by now." He muttered with a bit of a smirk. Something about preparing for ambushes he said a while back snuck into his mind. He was a bit happy with his smug self.

At the elf's comment, he turn to see Valerick behind him... but no Roy. A glance backward showed a tree had cut them off. He rushed back out.

"Roy! Roy!" he called, only to hear the wind picking up. "Can you make it through? Can you at least make it to the second door?" he bellowed as loud as he could, and hoped his words carried to his companion on the other side of the tree.

Siegfried took his sack and rustled through it rapidly, taking out his set of climbing gear and tossing it to the gnome. "Use that. I have to go back for Roy."

And with that, the young martial adept raced back into the first room, making sure not to get himself killed or cut off from the others in the process. He felt his eyes instinctively flash as his senses became sharper again in search of the one left behind.

Maybe the next person in line can remove all the unused states to clean it up, then people can just add their state.

Siegfried cursed his senses. It tended to blind his reasoning a bit.

"Perhaps you are right... we should probably join the others before they get too far ahead. Surely they are quite a bit ahead of us by now. By the looks of Roy, this room is not getting any safer."

He saw a flash as his nose once again dulled to the world around him. His eyes returned to their dull metallic grey color as he readied his spear.

"Shall we?"

Maximus looks like he was bitten by a werelion

Jal looks like he NEEDS his imaginary friend... or any friend for that matter

Adrian looks like he hasn't cut his hair since he left the Corps.

Dapple looks like she's about to stab Arien in the back, something he is of course oblivious to, which in turn is the reason Char and Kilgrim look so vigilent

Yup... that's our party!

Nice interpretations Eol lol

Siegfried heard the thud... amazingly it didn't surprise him. Had he not just warned against ambushes? It could be worse though..

"Are you ok in there? What happened" He called out just loud enough to be heard over the rain. It sounds as if something fell on him

"Valerick, you said it was? I can sense smoke from this room beyond the door... Surely it is dry there. Perhaps this would be the more appropriate pathway to take, do you think?"

In the vault of Rydor's flagship temple (quotes are paraphrased):

Me: You enter a room that seems to be filled with regular magical items, however some of them look to be not quite right.

(many of the emit evil auras, bardic lore picks a few out to be cursed items - all the rolls are good except one...)

There is one cloak however that radiates a simple transmutation aura.

Ur-Priest: How strong?

Me: Strong. One of the more powerful auras, someone probably equal in power to you (pointing to the mage).

Ur-Priest: It has to be a conscecrated protection cloak. I put it on.

Me: *face palms* Fort save...

(fails)

You die.

The lesson? Never put something on in a room full of cursed and evil items. It just might be a cloak of poison.

The other lesson? Never put on a consecrated ANYTHING if you're an Ur-Priest. It just might kill you.

Perhaps the 'wood elf' as he calls himself simply has a headstrong persona. If he wishes to lead the charge, I suppose I should not interfere. Tales have told of beasts from the far off woods being violent. Perhaps this denizen is no different.

"Very well. It was simply a warning, nothing over which to be upset."

The warblade readies his spear and plants his feet in a strange fighting stance, his eyes once again glazing over with a platinum hue. Siegfried positions himself near the second door... just in case.

Do these men not know of the ambush? Surely their warfare could use some coaching.

Siegfried tries his best to stop Valerick's approach before he made it to the door, but does not do so violently or confrontationally. He simply wishes a word.

"My friend, it is not wise to push forward without hesitation, both my villiage and I are masters of ambush tactics. I have seen their devistational powers. It would be best if only one of us was to be the target of any initial attack, so that the others may return the blows. I have volunteered to take the possible brunt, but you are more than welcome to do so. I will fall back."

Siegfried will rush back, making sure to put at least 5 or 10 feet between him and the door, and draw his spear from his back to prepare for a fight, unlikely as it may be.

Adrian Valentine was pleased with his performance. Maybe there is something to being a full blown caster in battle. But there wasn't time for that, he had a job to do. With his sword in hand, he followed through with his plan to fight up front.

His plan is to stay outside of the battle, looking for quick hits and safe attacks. If possible, he'll avoid going blow for blow with the Greens, and if need be let out a color spray to get the edge.

(a short one, just to keep with the earlier plan)

"All right, sentient, this fight is over. Drop your weapon now, or have it removed from your cold, dead fingers. Your choice."

Oh really? I'm sorry friend, but this fight has just begun...

His eyes narrowed a bit before releasing his heavy pistol. As it hit the floor, he caught a glance towards the one named 13, who was trying to talk out of the current mess. He then turned his attention back towards the authorities

"You win, though you will soon see things are not as they seem. Make sure you bring along my belongings in the suitcase behind me - my employer would not appreciate it being lost."

The deformed one is irritable. Well that's understandable, I would be too I suppose.

Siegfried nodded at the short one's response.

"Well, it seems we are all here by chance, and it also seems we are someone's guests." The wiry man in leather spoke, his eyes returning to their dull metallic shade.

"My name is Siegfried Hochvinde. I hail from a villiage not too far from here. The storm is getting worse, and I do not think it a good idea to block our only exit with the stone, so perhaps we should knock..."

He eyed up the others. One of them had deformed ears, and even another was oddly familiar. He remembers seeing one in passing, his villiage wasn't far from the core of the psionic lands. Was this strange man a psychic too? No matters now. The man in scale mail looked like he could hold his own, and the psion, if that's indeed what he was, shared any of Seigfried's own power, then he would be valuable should things turn for the worse. The odd one with deformed ears and the short one he was unaware as to their abilities. Perhaps they were not even warriors - merchants or cartographers. He'd protect them.

With a bow, he walked up to the door and gave a few loud, authoritative knocks.

"Let us get to know our host then... I hope he has more torches on the other side."

Subject: A less than bright and slightly rainy evening

Siegfried Hochvinde was excited! His first time weathering a storm without having his house to shelter him. There wasn’t much rain yet, but the wind was picking up. The young warrior removed his wide-brimmed hat, taking a few shots of water in favor of his cloak’s hook. He debating tying his blanket around his neck to help curb the harsh weather, but it was far too hot. I could make camp for the night, I have enough cloth… shelter would probably be better. I have to stay at my peak tomorrow.

“What is that…” he spoke aloud as the wind started to howl in the canyon. “I don’t understand. Speak up.” He knew the language of the skies… Auran. Its spoken word sounded as wind rushing past a surface, varying in strength as tone changed. Exactly like this. Was there an air spirit with him? His vocal cords could not yet produce the sounds of the tongue, but he could whistle and blow some poorly imitated phrases. It sounded as the wind was trying to warn him of something, but the words were jumbled. Probably just reading too much into this… it’s just the wind. Coincidence.

As if seemingly on cue, his cloak whipped around and inverted, wrapping around his head and obscuring his vision. He tried to fix it, but lost his balance in the increasing wind. He frantically searched with what vision he had left. Cave! He fought his way towards the entrance and let himself fall. At least it’s not wet in here… still hot though.

It seems he wasn’t alone. Two more, probably looking to escape the weather as well. One was horribly deformed… several feet shorter than he should be. Or perhaps a different species. Perhaps it spoke Giant – it wouldn’t be the first time a small-statured creature spoke the language of the tall ones. Siegfried kept a hand near the flail on his belt, which was much less threatening than the large spear on his back, something of an awkward appearance given the wet cloak held slightly off-center by it’s shape. His studded leather was soft, but it still creaked with rainwater as he positioned his hand near his belt-holster.

The air was tense. Siegfried was not a people person, but he was a good soul, even though he was not yet aware of just how much. His pupils glazed over with a platinum hue as his metallic-grey eyes lost color to the shimmer. He did not know it yet, but that was the sign his gifts from the platinum dragon were manifesting themselves. He could sense it again. Siegfried continued to lock eyes with the man in scales and the short one. He cocked his head slightly and gave a few sniffs in the air. Bugs… some winged, most of them crawlers. Maybe a spider or two… we are alone. A platinum glow began to shine on the floor beneath him. It’s back…Now I will know their intentions. The young man’s radiance shown – it was more than the platinum sheen, he had an otherworldly aura about him. If these two were indeed vile at heart, they would know it. If they walk in the light, they should sense an ally in Hochvinde.

“Hail… are you simply seeking shelter?” He called out authoritatively but unthreateningly, in Common quickly followed by Giant. Strange… there is already light and a doorway here, do they live here?

Siegfried stood firm awaiting a reply. He was not a terribly large man, although he seemed to be built to last. His muscles were firm and his body healthy and agile, but he definitely was not a physical paragon, as if there is unused potential in him – or perhaps it has been redirected elsewhere? He is burdened with seemingly too much adventuring gear… a backpack, sack, bedroll, two blankets, cloak, full body leather as well as studded armor. He was definitely out for the long one. He seemed a bit fluttery, almost as if he was too quick for his body, or at least as if his mind and body did not fully communicate. Half of him seemed to work on instinct alone, but yet his platinum eyes shielded a calculating mind. He stared each of them down alternatively, not jumping to conclusions but not being careless.
