Topic: Start at the End CANCELED Subject: Speaking of not talking...
Reminds me of a funny story.
We were playing a game where I was a LN monk, completely decked out. I think we were 16th level. The party had (if I remember, this was a few years ago) about 5 characters. The DM set up the scenario and we started on our way to a cave hideout we were supposed to clear. I think a lich lived there.
I was the only Lawful character in the group, everyone else was chaotic everywhere. We got to the entrance and there was a crude door set against the opening. We (the players) spent the better part of 10 minutes discussing who was going to aid who, who was going to make the check, and what to do just in case.
With no end in sight to the talking, I took action. My character hadn't spoken the entire session, conversing in nods and such instead. He spoke at the door (paraphrasing) 'I'm opening it.'
Counted to 6 and opened.
The DM took his head out of his hands... "Will saves..." The DC was something like 28 or 30. I was the only one that survived the Wail of the Banshee trap. Finally got some peace and quiet.

"Do as you will, dwarf, but know that I am trustworthy so long as we are all on this mission.
As to a leader, it appears we are at the impasse of a lack of volunteers. Again I suggest we don't need a leader. This topic has divided us more than united. We should sleep and let a natural leader emerge over time. If nobody does, then no feelings are hurt."
He looks at the two wandering off from their campsite, amazed at why they would risk the woods themselves.
"I can take first watch, as it will give me time for meditation and prayers. I have exhausted my spell casting abilities for the day, and must petition Shevarash for tomorrow's supply. By the looks of things, we will need it."

Topic: Inheritance -- the game Subject: well then...
Ether stood a bit amazed at the events. Maybe the crazed madman did have the concentration to use this thing. Surely he had the strength. The cleric put his hand out to the barbarian. "Well then, be sure to take his arrows, as well."
He then made his way to collect and salvage what used arrows he could. Ether felt more at ease knowing he would not take an arrow to the back during a melee.
"I would like one of the spare horses as well. Perhaps there will be one leftover to eat."
As Velina left, intent on being an individual, Ether called out "It's not safe out here anywhere... the safest place is among your allies. You should really stay, nobody will ambush a group as large as ours."

Yep, nothing to do with leading, just about being able to use a mighty composite longbow

Topic: Inheritance -- the game Subject: *sigh*
Ether looks to the barbarian with a wry expression one might have mistaken for a smile were they not aware of his oath never to smile until Lolth had fallen. "It seems some here don't understand the difference between a pissing contest and an efficient use of time.
A bow this powerful in the hands of a novice is more dangerous than if the bow weren't used at all. I've made my case and given our friend here a chance to prove me wrong and demonstrate his knowledge."
As he knocks and fires a new arrow to reset his challenge, he continues. "Also I believe I am the only one that is willing to lead. Nobody else has spoke yet. But as I said, if I am not suitable in your eyes then Jethro should lead."

"I'm not saying I've more combat training; just that I've led organized and focused raiding efforts. You are a great warrior, but your skills are best used on the trees rather than the forest..."
Ether walks up and grabs the bow, handing it to the barbarian. He then knocks an arrow from his own bow and fires it at the nearest tree.
"Hit that same target twice in a row without missing and I'll stand corrected."

"Maranda said as she left that she would request the Lords to make us all equal heirs." Ether quipped as he finished mending the parties wounds and dug out a waterskin from the enemies loot to spread around. "We should use their supplies tonight..."
Talks of a leader began to arise, of heirs, and of the quest. That mounted archer left a bit of an uneasy taste in his mouth.
"I would like the arrows, if nobody else can use them. Also... his bow is similar to mine," Ether remarked to nobody in particular while knocking and loosing an arrow from the enemy's bow into the wilderness, "Which means it will fetch a handsome purse on the market. Likely several hundred gold coins from the right buyer. I doubt anyone here besides me has the training required to use this effectively. We should keep and sell it."
He set the bow back and resumed inspection of some of the other gear.
"If you insist on a leader, I should do it. I'm likely the only one to have ever led a raiding party, and I'm not afraid to make the tough decisions when they need to be made." Ether gestures to the fallen half-elf.
"If you don't like me, then choose Jethro."

So that means Adrian was flapping his arms around a cornfield? lol slightly less respectable than actually flying around a cornfield with nowhere to go.

Topic: Continuing Where We Last Left Off Subject: wild magic?!
Well... that was certainly... strange
Corn. Adrian never really liked to behind with, but it was a more welcome sight and smell than everyone dying around him. The action figures... The weapons... Adrian's mount. How much of it was real?
The mage quickly checked his mental reserves. Had he really bee flying around a cornfield with armor sparkling around him? That was a hell of an illusion, if it was an illusion at all. Adrian had sworn off of illusions his entire life, so there was little chance he could recognize it even if it was arcane. Jal, if we ever needed your odd assortment of knowledge, this would be it.
"The townsfolks? None of them? The rain? How much time have we lost!?"
A man and his attractive (presumed) daughter came to the group, obviously peeved that they have destroyed some of their crops.
"I... I don't know" was all he could utter as he lifted himself up from the cornfield and brushed the debris off his prized sword. He tried cooking up an explanation, but figured it was better left to Arien. He had to figure out when real became dreams and how the dream had affected them.
(OOC: So doing the best he can in game terms, is anything different such as damage or mana lost?)

"I can heal those who were wounded... Also we should pile up the findings and I can detect if there is any magic present in the pile..."
Ether waits expressionlessly, although one might note a hint of satisfaction at the victory.
(OOC: That's it for me, dropping a heal on who needs it. I do want to save one slot for detect magic and one for create water if our hunters can't find any.)

dont care
Quick or thorough search of bodies?
thorough
Move, hide, leave, bury, or (other) bodies?
string em up? Really don't matter, but we should leave them in the open
Camp or continue?
Camp
Divvy-up now or later?
might as well do it now. Need before Greed

Topic: Inheritance -- the game Subject: Maranda
Ether looked somberly at the scene. Decisions were made every day, and there were consequences. He hoped this would be the end of these thieves, but chances are whoever sent them would send more. Maybe the corpses would serve as a warning.
"Maranda has informed me that she cannot stomach this mission, and does not have the leadership to continue. She simply stated her case and left, apparently to inform the Lords of Waterdeep that she wants us to become the new heirs.
Of course there is no guarantee they will follow through with her request, so if anyone wants out, this would be the time. I plan to continue this mission and avenge master Gann."
