Anyone else feel a slight smile come on as they imagine the rather comedic flying table, splintering debris, slipping imperials, beheaddings, etc?

Just to clarify, Dime isn't running after Caise, he's trying to get away from them and hide but keep them within eyeshot.

Topic: Star Wars: The Tides of Fate
Subject: A change of plans...

Dime launched another shot or two at the guards, landing one and taking one. Fair shot, I suppose. Just a glancing blow.

Thankfully, a few in the speeder were coming to evacuate them. Smart crew. Caise on the other hand seemed to have something else planned. Ziv braves horrible accuracy to offer him a hand. This was it - to help his Jedi friend, or to run away and fight later. His mission made that answer clear. This was the chance of a lifetime. A Jedi being captured by the guards here?! Surely he would be captured and interrogated, probably tortured. How often does your mission just land in your lap like that?

He knew what he had to do.

"Sorry Ziv, I appreciate it, but I'm not ready to leave yet. That Jedi is my ticket to the bank. I trust that speeder has a working comm system? My link is set to channel 808. The range isn't great, but if you ever come back around..."

As if confirming his choice, Carrot Top follows Caise. Wonderful Dime muttered softly in Ryl.

Hoping his friends, especially the one with the dancing laser beam, would distract them, Dime dove off behind the closest thing he could find and began scrambling away. He needed to hide, and fast.

(OOC: Not trying to "hide" per se as more of "get lost in the crowd and find a place to watch the battle.")

Non-discretion is the better part of valor. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and all that jazz.

Worse comes to worse, a good fly spell never hurt anyone, though knowing Al he'll have Adrian blasted out of the sky by a flying boulder or something

Adrian glanced at Jal and back up to the tower before rushing in after the group. Although not the wisest thing he has ever done, he was thankful for the chance to fight without discipline among friends - with a decent chance of survival.

Dapple and Char kept their flanks clean, something for which he was thankful. This group defiantely had some chemistry, especially those two. They danced the dance of stealth as if they were linked via magic. Something he could do of course, but he doubted either of them had that power. Must be purely intuition then...

At last, our knight finds us trouble. He felt Killer rustle around in his rucksack, obviously uneasy and sensing the coming bloodshed. He looks to Jal with a bit of a smirk.

"It seems we have a chokepoint. Lucky us." he utters just enough for those around him to hear as he rummages through his components pouch. I'll be glad to get rid of this... he thought as his hands pinched off a bit of butter.

He made the needed movements and awaited for his spell to take affect...

(OOC: Grease on the lower stairs and that part of floor round 1)

After that, it was time to get busy. He kissed his glassteel sword and moved in behind the meatier party members, looking for the easiest target.

(Edit: clarificaton - he's looking for good flanking opportunities and chances to pick off weak and distracted imperials)

Dime let out a yelp as the pulse hit him. This was not going to end well. Lucky for him, he was packing heat.

He took a quick look around to find cover - it would have to wait, but it would be nice to know. He instictively reached for his heavy blaster and then attempted to find his targets.

(OOC: Point and click then! Start with the closest grunt and dive behind cover when the chance presents itself)

So that's it? This is how they choose to die? By charging into a tower full of might and magic?

Heh...

Heh heh...

Ah what the hell. It's been a while since he's fought alongside such spontinaity. This is how the Empire should fight - all that structure simply holds a man down. For some reason though, Adrian expected a knight to be a little more disciplined. I guess love will do that to a man...

Jal seemed to be staring up at the tower. Could he be thinking of flying into the cluster of magical seige? Surely he wasn't that crazy... Or was he? As Jal started to dash off, seemingly given up on the idea, Adrian shrugged and called to him, dashing to catch up.

"I'll go if you go" he wispered to Jal, unsheathing his sword and using it to point to the top of the tower.

(OOC: Assuming Jal doesn't change his mind, Adrian will follow the crew. If he does, then I'll have another post.)

Subject: I can't believe I'm getting nickled and "dimed" ha ha!

Dime's success was bittersweet. He found a gingerly used fizzz, and the supplies to make his own reeds for it, but was astonished at the prices of hold-outs. Granted he wasn't a rich twielik, but he had his Republic stipend. Normally his badge would earn him a discount or two, but he neither had it with him, nor did this area seem like a good place to reveal his secret.

He got a steal on the horn, as he was able to convince the shopkeep that fizzzes weren't as popular as they used to be, and he wouldn't get a lot for it. Another lie... Dime thought as he paid the man. This one was personal too - not business. Was there a difference? He needed to play the part of musician, and he needed a new horn. That's justification, right?

Perhaps his Jedi pal didn't need to hear about this one.

As if on cue, the miraluka, followed by most of the group approached the corner of his vision. Dime flagged them down and approached. "Have any of you ever heard of 'The Great Al' of Alderaan? He made his career on this instrument. I used to know a few tunes on this thing, but haven't played in years."

He looked around, seeing the rest of the makeshift group milling around in the crowd.

"So... where is everyone headed? Is this goodbye?"

Subject: Hockey Season!!!

As I type this, the Red Dragon Classic is underway. This game is the prelude to what should prove an amazing hockey season.

What is the Red Dragon Classic you ask?

Lightning vs. Red Wings of course!

Tied 2-2 near the end of the first.

Anyway, we have a lot of new people since last year. Who is your favorite team? Favorite players? Any bets on the cup? Important injuries? Rivalry matches upcoming?

I'll start: Lightning defensive star Danny Boyle's skates fell off the rack and cut his arm, slicing a tendon. He's likely to be out for 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, he is a major player, leading power plays and carrying the puck up ice in most of our attack formations.

My Favorite players? Andre Roy - the guy who'll fight anyone
Shane O'Brien - best dang skater I've seen in the NHL
Johann Homqvuist - he gets a lot of bad rap, but I still think he's one of the best goalies in the league.

Ok, discuss!

Subject: Picking up

Dime was not a particularly happy camper at the time. His clothing was dirty, his luggage probably bent up, and his spirits a bit in tatters. No matter, he was where he needed to be and with a Jedi no doubt!

Thoughts drifted back to his mission, to his companions of circumstance, and to his mysterious new hosts to be. During the ride back to the plantation, thoughts of civilization filled his mind. A bed, food, a shower, and perhaps some laundry... Yellow and purple are not very visually pleasing colors when covered with the remnants of a crash landing.

Dime had removed his hat for fear of losing it during the speeder ride. His blue-hued lekki were still tied together. He decided to untie them and show the twin headtails. Without the distracting colors of the hat, his skin returned to its natural tint. The dust storm had forced him to remove the blue contacts - he hoped nobody was paying that much attention to his now piercing violet eyes. Fat chance...

During the rounds of introductions, Dime decided to go ahead and give it up. "My name... a powerful tool. Once I was known as Kol Nuro. It is a pseudonym I used once upon a time. I must confess I experienced a bit of celebrity on Corellia - the deception was a requirement. Please forgive me. You may call me Dime. I must confess it is not my official name either - if such a thing even exists. You may call me what you wish, I shall answer to Dime, Kol, or something of your choosing."

He fiddled with his hat as it flopped around in the wind of the speeder, and pretty much kept to himself as he went over the details of his mission in his mind. So few details... where to begin?

At dinnertime, Dime kept pretty much to himself, a bit out of character, but also more calculating. He only had a few more disguises tucked away in the suitcase, and he had already blown one of them to this group. They didn't know much about him though. They didn't even know what he was capable of. Probably better off that way.

Night came and Dime lulled himself to sleep on the slitherhorn. He was starting to tire of the instrument's screeching sounds... and quickly remembered why he chose the omnibox during his tour of Coronet City. After a bit of time to muster his courage, he finished his piece and went to bed.

--------=-=-=-=-=---------

Time to leave. Dime graciously grabbed his now-clean laundry and contemplated bringing Kol Nuro back out. Nah, no reason to stand out today.

Dime chose the more sleek look instead. Traveller's gear. Drab, boring, but functional. Khaki's, poet's shirt, vest, and more pockets than he has stuff to fill them. He masterfully dismantled his slitherhorn and kloo and stuffed them into various pockets. The bandfill and mandoviol wouild have to stay packed in the suitcase. He left his head-tails separate and free today, not really caring enough to hide his appearance. Racists be damned. He had his trusty heavy blaster tucked away to prevent any trouble.

Is this my life? I feel like such a nerd. What happened to just playing music and entertaining people? I feel like a portable electronic storm. The twilik was visibly depressed... at least he would be to anyone in his room. Datapads, datachips, fake cred sticks, real cred sticks, power packs, recording rods, comlink. He had it all. Felt like a real spy, just like in the holovids. Was this the big time? Was he for serious? Dime had been captured, escaped, killed people, hacked computers, lied to officials, stolen, forged documents. Hell if there was a Republic law out there that he had yet to break, he'd be surprised. He had even been captured, interrogated and imprisoned by the Republic itself. All a part of the job...

Why am I doing this again?

He thought back to that instance on the ship with Caise. He saw Kol Nuro in the mirror... for the first time since the farewell tour. It wasn't that long ago. He still had all the songs memorized. All the dances and routines. He could still feel the sting of the mid-show stimpacks that kept him performing despite his body rebelling.

Maybe that was why he liked these missions out on the fringes of Republic space. He didn't quite feel so bad playing the outlaw. Sure he had the lisensce to do it, and sure he was expected to do it, but it still felt a bit akward. Dime was a simple person, used to doing nothing but entertaining. That black and white world is gone now, and he is left with only the shades of gray that are politics and the real galaxy. Oh well. At least Dime knew he was good. He was smart, charming, and knew his way around people. That was half the reason he got this job. He was good at it.

(OOC: a bit late now, but I'm sure Caise will be able to pick up on his signals. File it away for later.)

*ahem* Show Time.

Daroth was no paradyse, that's for sure. But, it was a city, and therefore Dime was in his element. Unlike Ziv, Dime happily wandered around looking at things. This was his element.

"So guys, feels good to be back in civilization, no?"

As they kill time before the meeting, Dime looks for a few key things. A Fizzz... the sound reminded him of home. It was the first instrument he ever learned to play. The buzzing sound was comforting to him, despite being terribly annoying to most species. Royals and Nobles of all species tend to favor it, and thus it makes Dime feel more high-brow than his other instruments. He hadn't played one in years - and his personal one was so old it was barely functional. Time for a new one anyway, the other was only sentimental.

His mission could wait a bit - besides, how else better to survey the landscape than to spend time in it? That notwithstandin, his Jedi companion was a good asset to keep close by. They tend to lead you to things.

Damn! Almost forgot! My father would never let me hear the end of it! A blaster! he yelped in a rather random manner. "Sorry, I simply remembered a purchase I must make.

Ok, priorities of purchases:
1) Hold out blaster and power cells.
2) Fizzz horn

With the battle complete, there was much going through the former Red's mind. Thoughts of his utter failure trying to stand up to the strange sap-creatures flooded out any positive thoughts. Damnit Adrian, focus. You got the killing blow. Your wits brought about the lantern. Your summons bought us a few seconds to prepare. You are not a mere meatshield, it is expected that you can not absorb the hits of the gladiator. At least you stayed awake the entire fight...

That last thought accompanied a glimpse to Jal and a silent smirk.

Valentine let everyone else talk and chatter about what to do. There would be no running away - of that Adrian was certain. He still had most of his spellcasting ability, and his trusty sword was still sharp. Not to mention he had a few potions still handy. Alas, eventually the decision was made. The right one. There was to be no backing down from a fight that we ourselves started. No, we must go on.

Valentine heaved his sword back into a ready position, brushed his ruddy-brown hair out of his face and watched as Char and Dapple began their scouting mission. What came next shocked the fighter-mage.

JAL'S MAGIC?!? J-A-FALL-ASLEEP-IN-BATTLE-L-'S MAGIC?

Jal's magic is better suited for hiding in shadows and running away than it is thinning numbers. I'm sure he could tell us a great place to rest the night, or have his invisible friend read our thoughts...

Thankfully, Jal HAD seemed to have read his thoughts. The urchin mage shifted ever so closer to Valentine in the rear, probably siding with safer company. Adrian threw on his most impressive mentor voice, talking to Jal but making it loud enough for all to hear. "Jal, keep in mind that not all who fight above may be enemies. If we spare the correct side, we might find ourselves with new allies. However, slaughter some of each side and both might turn their attention to us."

Not awaiting a response, his dull gray eyes crackled a bit as he searched his mental spell selection for the right one.

(OOC: Do you want spell selections now or can I wait until what I see. Got a couple different plans brewing)
