Let's play the "we have so many members there has to be someone that can do it" game.

I've been told I have a voice for radio. Or was that a face for radio?

Why don't we make our own version of RPG radio? Of all the things from my early internet days, that is what I miss the most.

Valentine couldn't help but roll his eyes as Dapple's razor sharp wit turned their employer's deals back against him. It could be a while before he saw some real action out in the field where he belonged. Why does he belabor the point any longer than he has to?

As if answering his wish for a little something to shake the situation up a bit, Maximus crashed to the floor, covered in pink dust. The agonizingly annoying parrot let loose an apparent claim for the deed. Matthias wasted no time in raising his defenses and deflecting the cause of the spell away from himself.

At that minute, Adrian could almost feel the eyes of the room drifting towards him. Did they really think he was so petty? Great, another mage with companionship issues... was the only thought Valentine could muster as Matthias inched ever closer to ground beef status. This was not his place to intervene, but visions of amazing potential swept through his mind.

Valentine readied a grease spell, content to place it a few inches in front of Matthias. That is, unless Maximus stops.

(OOC: I'm bowling for mages... with a gladiator ball!)

Only the House of Representatives was directly elected by the people.

Senators were appointed by State legislatures.

Presidents were "elected" by State-appointed electors. This is still semi-true, although things are slightly different.

And of course, Justices are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. Note that the House is not in this process.

So of the three branches of government, only a half of one branch (Congress) was even elected by the people.

I am pretty involved in the game. I actively support my local Congressman, and wish even 20% of Congress voted like him.

Anyway, I'm voting for Barr for President unless something major changes in the next few days. The presidency is a sham anyway, the Congressional elections are the important ones.

Tidbit: Everyone talks about America being a Democracy - did you know that under the original system only one half of one third of the US government was elected?

A little tidbit: This is my oldest known post on the inn. I went by my character's name of "Ardarimir" back then. SAdly it looks like a few pages of the game are missing...

First post, at least in character."

Old Staff Page

Oh, and the old inn STILL hates Firefox.

If anyone has some time, I HIGHLY suggest reading through some of the old classics. Back then a lengthy game usually meant a good game, so anything with a few hundred posts should be worth a read. Perhaps we should copy them from the wayback machine and set up a history of the inn section or something.

Subject: Google history indexed the old inn!!!

SO Google turned ten. To have some fun, they posted their old archived search pages from 2001.

Google in 2001
Nifty.

But guess what? If you type something in you get the results from that year. There is no youtube, ipod is a company, and Michael Phelps is a scientist not a swimmer.

So google the Inn, it will actually take you to the old original website. The old fireside forums and everything, even our old posts! Granted it's all done through the Wayback Machine, which can do this anytime, but I wouldn't have even really thought about it if Google hadn't done this.

The Old Inn - hard to believe I've been here that long!

Woah, and even OLDER version!

Subject: Part the Second

Adrian was easy to find. He was quite accustomed to the underworld by now - participating in prize fights both legal and illegal, and even learning to cheat his way to victory with magic. There was a thrill to controlled fighting, being watched and having wagers placed on you. A glimpse into the life of Maximus - it wasn't that bad actually. Of course the brute had been a slave, unpaid and forced to fight while his masters made money, not unlike the Reds, really. But that was behind him now. Adrian informed his bookers that he would be taking a leave of fighting and set off to reunite with his employer. Hopefully another Nemesis could be found - a bonus reward is nothing to sneeze at.

He was pretty early, and was able to watch most of his comrades meander in, share some small talk about their time away, and speculate as to the next mission. Little did they know the amount of studying and training that had gone on in the past few months. Valentine was practically a new man able to withstand twice the punishment he was before, and doubly confident in his powers. Though prize fighting had also taught him temperance, and that often the most arrogant is the most targeted. This time he would hide his newfound abilities until needed.

After Matthais was introduced, Adrian sort of breathed a sigh of relief. This man looks to be a proper mage, one who would surely draw the ire and fire of his foes. Still, it was a bit unsettling getting used to a "replacement" for Jal. A bird? What ever happened to a good old rodent familiar, eh Killer? Adrian thought as he took a sip of his Rot Gut. Sour as always, but it helped him feel more rugged, even though he knew deep down that no self-respecting man would willingly drink this except to show off. He was still new to the banger underground afterall, he was allowed to succumb to some stereotypes. Good nuts. Make more money. Buy more expensive nuts.

Killer had a one-track mind since all the gold started rolling in. *sigh*

The story of the Blood Wars was intriging. At least from the academic standpoint. Between her fighting style, attitude and now her retelling of the Imperial version of history there was no more doubt in his mind that Dapple was indeed a former Green.

"The invasion of the elves, dragons and shadows is what catalyzed the formation of the Empire. Of course how much of that we can trust is still up in the air. I'll be happy to relate more of the 'official' history at a later time. As to now, I can promise that behind every undead is something with a squishy part that can be stabbed by non-magical hands. The mystical are actually not all that mystical, often times a good whetstone is just as effective as a weeks worth of prayer.

"Regardless, I am eager to set out once more under your jurisdiction. Archmages always hoard the best goodies and trinkets."

Adrian Valentine was a new man. Sort of.

The events of the last three months were eye-opening and enlightening, metaphoically and literally. He spent a few nights pouring over books and discussing theory with Arien's sister, particularly focusing on what it was that possessed her and how Adrian had come about the power to dispose of it with relatively little stress. Before she left, there was no answer better than a either a lucky break or a deep hidden power contained within one of them - or both. It was nice to be able to discuss arcane theory with someone else who uses more conventional means. Jal was a fine sorcerer, flawed as his magicks sometimes were, but Adrian was unable to grasp exactly how, what, or even why Jal operated the way he did. Curiosity eventually got the better of him, and the battle mage set out to perform some investigations.

Valentine quickly became noctournal after his return. He found the night more pleasing, and more conductive to studying and training. When things went awry in the field of battle, light always seemed to be hard to find. Though his eyesight would never match that of an elf or dwarf, he hoped he could perhaps gain the sight of Dapple or Char, being the most resourceful humans he had met in his short lifetime. He slept during the day, sometimes creating magical shelter for himself instead of sleeping indoors. His living quarters was respectable but often Adrian felt he was becoming the stereotypical mage buried in books instead of reality. Under the cover of darkness, Adrian visited Spellbinder's grave and with nothing more than a magical light bouncing around would spend the entirety of the night studying his spellbook - making notes and copying runes to the best of his ability. He doubted that even one proper scroll had been scribed, but it was a valueable learning experience, and allowed him to get more insight into the way both he and Spellbinder percieved magic. Suddenly Adrian wished he had done or said more during Jal's funeral. The potion of minty fresh breath Valentine had eased down Jal's throat during the service seemed almost insignificant. But in a way it was appropriate that Jal's methods and madnesses died with him.

Taking the time to create a small fire, Adrian burned his notes and copies next to Jal's grave at sunrise. Goodbye, comrade. Perhaps your magicks were not as flawed as I once thought...

During his several midnight trips, he noted Maximus visiting Jal's grave as well. They were close - he must be taking it particularly difficult.

Wind's condition was not improving, but rather getting worse. Many times Adrian asked Kilgim to check on her, but nothing could come of it. Even herbalists could not have detected the poison. The only thing helping Adrian to cope with the loss was knowledge that she never awoke from her collapse at the tower. It was a peaceful death... as peaceful as wizard's twilight can be, at least. Once again under the cover of night, he set out with the body of his former commander and lover. Finding a nice isolated environment, he gave her an imperial funeral - the only ceremony he knew. Before they parted, he pleaded with her to follow, but she confessed her soul was already damned and her alliegience lied with the Empire. Adrian stopped short of reciting the prayers and praises of the Red Corps - opting instead to hum the verses. He simply could not bring himself to go down that road again. He thought briefly of burning the remnants of his disfigured brand off, but chose to keep it as a reminder and a warning. He could never escape his past - and his current situation showed that clearly. He hated everything the empire taught - the way they treated their soldiers. But it was still the only life he knew growing up. It was a part of him he could not lose. Wind's death helped to bring some closure, and he knew this would be the last time he would engage in an action like this. With her death, any lingering ties to his Imperial past was severed.

His three main sources of business since departed, Adrian spent the rest of the time practicing his swordplay with whomever would spar. His tattoo brought him several drunkards eager to put one over on a wussy mage or a bastard imperial. Combined with his reward money, he was able to amass a small fortune in fight prizes. It was quite the relief to hear that he had another official mission. Hopefully this time he would be able to avenge those who have fallen.

(OOC: Half now, half tonight. Something came up!)
(OOC2: And by tonight I mean this weekend. Sigh)

It's very, very lightly established that blue is for Jedi Guardians, green is for Jedi Consulars, yellow is for Jedi Sentinals, purple is for Jedi Weaponmasters, and the Sith universally use red.

That's what I've gathered from various non-official sources. I don't think anything has ever been made official. In fact I did read in the Expanded Universe that the only reason the Sith use red is because when they first formed, they conquered a planet that had a very large cavern of red crystals.

I remember sometime back I ran a joke game called Ninja Burger, based on the legendary fast food chain. One of the places they had to go was a place called the Red Dragon Inn, which sure enough was a 5 star resort hotel, complete with some patrons making cameos as themselves.

That was some 6 years ago, and man if it wasn't fun. I'll stop by for a drink sometime Have your people call my people, we'll do lunch, yada yada.

I'm sorry I had to leave so abruptly. It's a long story, catch me in chat or email me if you want it. But long story short I'm starting paramedic school Monday, among other new projects (including starting a business).

So I have to drop all current games (and put Warhammer on hiatus). I will continue playing Adrian Valentine if Al will keep me. I can handle one game and I have committed to that game for years, not to mention it is slow-moving.
