Topic: Gender Roles (an unorganized possible feminist rant)
Subject: well

I happen to imagine most rangers as female. I have only seen one male ranger in my gaming groups, and we have a 50/50 RL gender split. Our most recent game has a female cleric, female fighter, female monk, female ranger, male druid, male sorcerer, and male rogue. We have a male DM for the record.

Maybe we're just weird? I can't really add any comment because I just don't notice the gender split of roles. Surely barbarians are abnormally skewed to male, but other than that I haven't really noticed it. Maybe because all the females in our group happen to be engaged/married to the males in our group?

Now now Mr. GM I'm not going to give away all my treason in public!

Anyway I rushed that one to try and get it in by deadline, *ahem* yesterday.

Understood. Slipp had a plan. He darted off down the hallway to explore. Maybe some commie germs got into the lights.

Slipp was amazed at the efficiency of the Computer.

If only he had that steady of a hand...

He wondered if they were allowed to be here, with a yellow security system guarding it. But the Computer knew they were there... and hadn't yet kill them.

"I'm glad I'm too lowly to understand this place."

One day though...

"We should wait for Bright and Ammpe"

Slipp bolted for the exit, pausing for only a second to make sure he wasn't headed into even worse trouble.

"I wonder if that laser targets traitors? What if it was activated by a traitor. We must sort this all out. Quick, to safety!

As cleanliness officer I can't afford to leave the paralysed body of Artie to be left on the floor. That would attract germs."

Slipp darted in and grabbed their stunned leader, looking for any help he can and dragging him to safety.

"Leaving behind a troubleshooter is treason."

Slipp was very eager to get moving. He was also happy Dweebs didn't follow. While he was trigger happy and anxious to kill a traitor, he didn't want to be the first to show his hand.

Still the poor thing might be of some use later.

But the task was at hand now! Artie seemed to be doing a modest job leading so far. He managed to remember the team name. That was something. Still the guy moved very slow. Too slow. There was fixes for that...

"I know enough about weapons systems to know that I don't know about yellow lasers and yellow buttons.

I vote Red. The lasers are here to prevent treasonous Reds from escaping.

But I don't know that. That would be treason."

Topic: What the Inn means to me.
Subject: yea

I'm personally very proud of the community that's been built here. My only regret is that I don't have the time or energy to be as active as I used to be.

No, rest assured the Inn isn't changing, moving, or going anywhere.

But there totally is a facebook group. And you should join it. That part was real.

It bothers me that some people of faith seem to use their religion as an excuse to hate things they don't understand. I have been fighting this battle for years. I literally almost jumped for joy when I found a church where not only is pastor a DM, but he actually knew Dave Arneson.

D&D is a tool not unlike a pen. If someone wants to write a book full of innocent fun, then they shouldn't be lumped with people who want to write "how-to-murder-babies-while-worshipping-Satan." books.

My current gaming group has two atheists, two deists, a catholic and me. Know how often we fight about religion? Not once in 5 years.

Edit from Olan: I hate to spoil a good joke, but I am seeing too many peple taking this very seriously.

April fools folks.

Edit from Ad: Yes it's a joke, but the facebook group is completely real and you should still join it!

April 15th, 2012 will mark the beginning of the new Red Dragon Inn.

It's been a few months in the working, but we are finally ready to announce the next step that is going to take our beloved Inn to the masses.

The Red Dragon Inn is pleased to announce our integration with Facebook!

What does this mean for you, the established member? A couple things.

1. You must join the "Friends of the Red Dragon Inn" facebook group.

2. We will be working in the next few days to set up a series of interlocking groups to represent the different forum areas so that all your freeform and rules based fun will carry over to our new format.

3. The groups will be set up to be open access, open viewing, and open recruitment. That means that all your friends will be able to follow your games that you GM or play in, as well as our other great features like the posting games and survey forums! This will increase our exposure almost 100-fold and get all those closet geeks on your friends lists to join up.

4. NO MORE CHAT BUGS!!! With the use of facebook instant messaging we will finally be able to move past the problems of our current chat room.

5. Now for the bad news. The price of bandwidth is unbelievable. The staff has agonised and debated for several weeks, however we finally made the executive decision to shut down the www.rdinn.net domain and move the entire operation to the free facebook format. The domain will remain active throughout the switch, however we expect this site to be offline by the end of next week - our goal is April 15th. A HUGE thanks here to Eol and Almerin, who have been working tirelessly to create an archive of all the current and defunct games so we can transfer all that info to the new facebook location. We are still looking for volunteers to help replace RDI screen names with real life names so we can attach a profile to all the old game posts.

This move will save an enormous amount of time and money - with the added benefit of free advertising through the facebook news feed. Plus with timeline going live we will be able to publish a record of not only our old games, but facebook will automatically keep a public record of all our posts right there on our walls!

Now some of you might be concerned about privacy issues with using your real name or might be worried about broadcasting to your friends and coworkers every post that might be taken out of context. I suggest prefacing all of your game posts with the tagline "IN CHARACTER" or even with your former RDI handle. It's a change we'll all have to get used to, but again I must stress that the benefits to the community far outweigh the negatives.

Even Grugg, a longtime enemy of facebook, is going to get in on the action. If he can do it, anyone can.

So please take a moment to join the facebook group: Friends of the Red Dragon Inn and introduce yourself if you aren't one of the 49 Innmates that already have. YOU could be number 50!

Go on, what are you waiting for?!

Edit: Stickied.

Edit 2: jozan has just joined the group and claimed the coveted number 50 spot. Please don't let that deter you from joining!

"Get to Section 168 of Sector SWR, out the door and take a left. NOW. Thank you for your cooperation."

Order given.

Slipp had his thoughts about the rest of the driftwood on his team. But there would be time for that later. Right now he had a promotion to earn...

"We've been given a direct order. Let's go. There will time to address the hygiene issues rampant in this group later."

Hopefully that tranquilizer he took would continue to manage his tic throughout whatever their mission turns out to be. It'd be terrible to show his weakness on the first day...

Slipp was very happy lately. Moreso than the minimum mandatory fun level even. This was quality Yellow clearance level happiness. So happy in fact he might need to tone it down a bit to Red level giddiness. Time to hit the storeroom.... to that corner the eye can't see.

-----5 minutes later------

Slipp emerged much more relaxed and focused.

Time to shoot some trouble.

Slipp met up with his new team at the table, except they had an undocumented addition to their group. This would not do at all. Slipp slicked his hair back and figured it was time to do his first act of shooting trouble, figuratively this time!

“Dweebs, listen up. A troubleshooting team consists of six individuals. You are number seven as you can clearly see. Unless you are unable to count which is treasonous behavior for someone of Red clearance as we all had to pass a counting test.

So to have seven to a team is not only treasonous by means of breaking Friend Computer's rules, it's also treasonous by means of inefficiency, which is demonstrated by the number of seats at this table. If you were to join us illegally, then you would not have a chair and would have waste the use of muscles standing while the rest of us relax our muscles in these gracious chairs.

Also as you know the number 6 is an even number, which allows for two teams of three, or even three teams of two. Nice even unoffensive numbers designated for tasks. The number seven is a prime number and does not allow for anything except offensive group numbers.

Unfortunately you are still presumably a troubleshooter and to execute now for your relatively minor treason would be a waste of a troubleshooter and thus an inefficient use of resources. Friend Computer will decide your fate, but I cannot allow you to remain with this group.

"Hey, troubleshooters! Yes, you, Team MAO-17859 Dot R-2! Down here! Yes, down here, under the table! Now!"

A first assignment perhaps?

If Dweebs has not responded to Slipp's (non-spurious I assure you!) logic and left by this point then he will shoot him before looking below the table.
