The lost and profound really didn't do anything for me. All the others though look like great ideas! Though I'm afraid 5 seconds might be a bit too standard fantasy-ish. Subway looks like it could be some serious fun.

Are you planning on more than one?

Such a strange day... so grotesque. She obviously didn't want to fight through, but they had to get to his car. Tiaan grabbed her arm and started running the other direction, knowing she would follow.

"Change of plan... hunting supplies for some rifles and then out the garden center. It's so cliche but we can get a chainsaw there. Then we can get to my car through the garden exit.

Sound like a plan?"

This was not good... they were going down. Finder always wanted to be a pirate. At least that was his current justification for what he was about to do.

"FFFFFFFFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" the shrill voice cut through the air as the halfling zipped as fast as he could to the helm. It would be tough, but he had to make this jump to abandon ship. Chances are there wasn't a lifeboat, and if he missed he could always grab it after the ship sinks. He had most of his stuff on him. That was enough. With as much speed as he could get, Finder waited for the right opportunity and ran as fast as he could... looking for a good place to make the leap of faith.

Mkoll and Ghustal strolled forward. They had quite a bit of ground left to cover. It took them roughly half a minute to carefully make it to the break. A quick plan was made, and Tazi and Daggerfall took positions to cover the pointmen.

On the other side of the Deck, Arcturious decided to find whatever imperfection was making all that banging sounds. As he ventured down the hallway, he could hear very faint footsteps from the other end.

It was Mkoll who first turned the corner and glanced down the rather long hallway. It was a man… at least it looked like one… lying on the ground. The wall beside him was blown out, as was the ceiling above him. He was moaning in pain… obviously wounded. An escaped psyker?

Ghustal’s passage was perfectly clear. He could see all the way to the other end.

Both passageways have breaks about halfway down… probably a connecting hallway.

Arcturious walked carefully, monitoring the banging sounds. They were directly above him now… it sounded like someone was walking above, but suddenly stopped. It was deathly silent except for the moaning.

**CRASH**

As if out of nowhere, the ceiling above the Tech-Priest gave way, causing him to jump back, startled. A strange beast was standing in the crawlspace above. He looked sort of human, but it was dark. It locked eyes with Arcturious and leapt down from above. It was a grotesque beast, completely white and hairy, and had a third arm sticking out from his back.

His body is entirely scaly beneath the hair. This mutant was a freak of nature. It had no place in Imperial space… the only problem is it was powerful enough to completely blast through the ceiling. This was not good.

Ghustal can see debris from the “explosion” spray around the corner at the end of the hallway. Everyone can hear it. The man is still moaning.

(OOC: You’re now in initiative. I’d like to try and go two or three rounds at a time, beings we’re not quite in “combat” yet, so let’s get those actions in! Combat is going to go with shorter, more frequent posts to keep the action level high!)

I'll get that post up tonight, and hopefully get the character sheets finished. My GM commandeered the book again this week because we're starting a new campaign. I also live right next to a Barnes and Noble, so maybe I'll hike my laptop over there sometime this week to finish up the few things that need done (boy scout gear, etc.)

"A race? I guess you should know I do this kind of stuff for a living. I may be getting old, but I'm not past my prime yet.

Don't worry though, if there really are zombies, I won't let you get eaten. It's a long drive and all the guys on talk radio are starting to get boring."

At this point, T was just playing along. As his newfound friend darted off on her skates, he grabbed the nearest object - a stick of pepperoni, and swallowing his pride dashed off after her, no longer caring about the state in which he left this backwoods department store. Wal-Mart prides themselves on their cheap labor. They have the manpower to clean up. The employees don't seem too concerned.

His only fear was whatever virus was going around making people appear to be rotting didn't infect him or his friend he would be spending some time in the car with.

Anyone have any Friday the 13th stories to share? It only happens every so often. I admit I have a bit of a connection, beings that I was born on a Friday the 13th in June a couple decades ago.

Wait a minute! That means Tomorrow is my birthday! Huzzah for me

What's even better is my tabletop night is thursday, which means midnight will strike during our session. Maybe my GM will kill my character as a present. That seems right up his alley

Topic: Keeping PC's alive
Subject: it depends

If your game is more story and party driven, like mine usually are, then you tend to back off on the challenges or find unique ways to go about them without unneeded danger. I rarely kill a PC, unless they do something stupid or just a really unlucky streak occurs.

For instance - I was running a game in Audalis once on my tabletop group. The crusader was serving as an agent of chaos. He was CN, and slightly demented. As he got stronger, he found he needed a higher calling, and began courting priestesses of Shinana to sponsor him, so that he may have a divine ticket instead of an abstract alignment one.

After a few sessions of courting, they found themselves climbing a harpy nest. About halfway up the tree, Shinara spoke to the crusader (they were now roughly 10th level) and offered him his commission, if he did something in the coming time to completely give himself to luck and chance.

I had planned, of course, that he would perform a leap to get from their tree to the lead harpy's nest. The player decided to take the offer right now, and lept 200 feet off the tree, screaming "SHINARA PROTECTS!!!"

Ironically enough, he survived, but barely. Beings there was no healer in the group (the crusader is a mediocre healer) he mended what wounds he could, and started climbing again - this time with newfound zeal in his divine commission.

During the fight with the harpy queen - he charged her, rolling a 1 on the attack. Since I was using critical fumble and hit charts - I rolled. He hit himself. Roll damage - critical hit. Instant death.

Shinara can be a real bitch sometimes.

Topic: WH 40k Q&A - Innocence Proves Nothing
Subject: Movement

It appears I should define movement rules here.

Your agility bonus (the first number, so with a 34 your bonus would be a 3) is your basic movement in meters.

Every round you get one action. Most full actions are psyker powers, firing full automatic or semi-automatic, or other special issues.

Most actions are half-actions. Firing a single shot is a half-action. Taking Aim (+10 to the attack) is a half-action. Drawing a weapon (without quick draw) is a half-action. Most skill uses in combat are half-actions.

There are some free actions, talking, dropping a weapon (or drawing, if you have quick draw), some powers, etc.

So a basic half-action move is your agility bonus in meters. You can do this twice to get double your agility bonus, but you give up your second half action (like firing).

you can also charge with a melee weapon, moving your charge distance (I believe it's three times your agi mod, I'll check) and attacking as a full action.

Finally you can run, moving your max distance (I believe it's double your charge distance, again I'll have to check) as a full action, but you are easier to hit. You can also use this to "breakaway" from melee combat and not get the attack of opportunity.

T nodded to his newfound companion. Big T? Eh, he could work with that.

"Don't worry... I've got two pieces in my car. In the meantime..." The south african stuntman grabbed a whatever the first club-like object he came by was and led the way back to his ride. A clothes rack? A bag of dog food perhaps?

Too bad he won't be sleeping tonight, but at least he had company.
