I know he's gone, but I must say Grugg's last line made me lol. So typical of a tech-priest.

Actually you did really miss. He was only knocked out by the mutant and didn't take any real damage, so he would have survived if you had hit him.
Would have made for some fun dialogue though!

Topic: Independence Day! Subject: Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day to all you American Innmates out there in RDI land. I enjoyed a very typical thus far:
I drove my Japanese car to a Chinese Buffet before heading out to the shooting range to fire off my new German handgun
Tonight I'm going to go blow some stuff up in true American fashion.
Happy fourth everyone! Share your celebration stories.

At this point Ayrn you are probably going to be taken to the med bay to wait out your injuries. So any time you are ready to jump into the game, feel free to go ahead and "wake up" and be healed.
everyone else: I'm taking the 4th of July off

*whoo*
The battle mage briskly brushed his long hair away from his face as it fluttered in the now calm skies. He nailed it... whatever it happened to be. Arein's sister would now be free, and what was more, Jal had his final wish.
Although whatever demon had come to inhabit his impromptu ward was apparently gone, the danger was still readily apparent. He was being watched from below... his companions were relying on him to finish this battle. His first epic duel, it was almost symbolic to Valentine that he leave no enemy alive to report to whatever diabolical source the Empire had contracted.
Though the battle was won, the war still required one key victory. Adrian flew off after the mantis creature.
(OOC: If he can catch up, fight away with the sword, if not, then try the crossbow)

I think Pierce made a better bond than Sean, personally. I also think the bond girl from Goldeneye was the best.

Pretty good movie. One of the most twisted plots I've found in an action flick. I recommend it.

Yes, it has burst and auto, but you can only perform a single shot after you move. Judging by your post I assumed you wanted to get as close as possible, which left only room for a single shot.
As for point blank, in this game it's considered 3 meters. Your gun has a 90 meter range, and you do get a bonus at half range, which you were in. Like I said, you rolled so badly your gun almost jammed. You also called a shot to his leg, which imposed a penalty.
If you had been point blank, you would have hit.

Just so you know, it was only one round - you were only able to cover 3 meters walking, so your shot was from about 15 meters away, far more than point blank.

Finder was a bit lost as to what to do. He couldn't make the jump, and certainly couldn't get back on board.
But all was not quite lost. He scavenged furiously through the waters to try and find a piece of driftwood. He couldn't swim forever and needed to at least buy himself some time to think.
(OOC: Sorry for the short post, I'm lost as to what to do)

Topic: WH 40k Q&A - Innocence Proves Nothing Subject: SPOILERS: READ THE GAME POST FIRST!
Here's some interesting details.
Grugg and the mutant were in melee. This means a few things - you take a -20 to shoot into a melee (though I didn't penalize Tazi and Dag because they couldn't see Arcturious) and if you miss by 20 or fewer, you hit your friend.
Tazi actually hit, but because of range penalties (she was shooting at about 25-30 meters and her pistol only goes a max of 20) she narrowly missed. Kaelyn got a half-range bonus, because he was shooting well within half of his max range.
Ghustal full ran, clearing 18 meters, more than enough to line up a charge next round. Too bad it didn't last that long.
Mkoll made his perception check to see the uniform, and grossly missed his shot. Probably a good thing in this case though. Though the rule in Warhammer is usually shoot first and ask questions later, this was a curveball.
Arcturious rolled maximum damage on his attack - when that happens you get "Emperor's righteous fury" and may make a second attack. He made this second attack and thus could add another damage roll on top of his original. This is huge because your armor and toughness bonus "soak" damage from each bullet. So if you are hit by four bullets, and have 3 armor and 30-something toughness, you soak 6 damage from each shot. The crit lets you tack on extra damage to a single hit, and thus going through armor. His total damage was 19 - almost enough to kill it outright.
When you reach 0 wounds you go into critical damage. Each time you take a hit in critical damage, I roll on the critical chart and something happens, from stunning to fatigue to losing limbs to outright death. Penalties get the worse the more into critical damage you go. Daggerfall's shot did moderate damage, but after the earlier hit it drove him into critical. But I won't tell you what he rolled

Topic: Innocence Proves Nothing - Warhammer 40,000 Subject: Disturbing... very disturbing
Ghustal was the first to act, springing into action, knowing he has a good twenty meters to clear before engaging in combat, but he was determined to see blood. It had been a while since he had actual combat, and a mutant was perfect practice. Not too tough, not too wimpy. The warrior sprang into full stride, charging with all his muscles. He cleared enough of the distance to line up a charge, and took a brief second to line up his motion before attacking. He was already locked in melee with another… a Tech Priest?! Good Lord they can’t fight worth a damn. Ghustal had to save him.
The intercom cracked to life as the robotic voice of Arcturious – doubtlessly unknown to most of the strike team, but the intonations of a tech-priest were unmistakable. If they didn’t know who he was, they knew what he was – a valuable member of the Inquisition and one of the few capable of keeping their machines (especially their firearms) functioning. He had to be helped… now. But thankfully, he wasn’t all incapable in combat. Quite the contrary – either that or the Omnissiah was looking favorably upon him and his mission of perfection. The tech-priest grabbed his pistol, and with pristine accuracy planted a shot right into the beast’s eye. It retched back in pain, and hesitated a bit before lining up its attack.
Solanis and Tazi reacted nearly simultaneously, their training together apparently attuning them to each other’s reflexes. Though Tazi jumped first, it was Solanis’s natural reflexes that kicked in and evened the score. The two were able to catch a view of the grotesque being down the hall… it was threatening something around the corner. They had only moments before it attacked what or whoever was in its sights, and before Ghustal blocked their shots by engaging it. They each nodded and fired as quickly as they could into the thing, each getting a single shot off.
Tazi’s shot flies true enough… but comes up just shy of the target. Her laspistol just doesn’t have the range to be accurate at the distance at which she’s fighting. Solanis, on the other hand, armed with a sniper rifle, easily plucks the beast into his sight and rings true, nailing the creature right on its back.
Mkoll was the next to act, his quick reflexes pulling the trigger to lay into the moaning man. Unfortunately – or in this case fortunately, his accuracy was far off and his shots plunked harmlessly into the ground 5 feet in front of the man. Taking a moment to reflect on the miss as he strolled forward cautiously… Mkoll focused on his target – noticing he was wearing the uniform of an Imperial Arbeit.
It must be the guard for this deck! If there was ever a time to miss a shot – this was the time.
Finally, the mutation acts on its threat, Arcturious. Unfortunately that horrible sting from his back had stunned his spine, rendering him unable to move. In fact, it could do no more than fall flat on its face, no longer moving.
Ghustal is now face to face with Arcturious, with a limp mutant body between them. Mkoll is within about 10 meters of the Arbeit, and Tazi and Daggerfall are at the end of Ghustal's hallway.
(OOC: Grugg rolled a critical hit, bringing almost dead. Kaelyn finished it off. Gina would have hit were it not for range penalties. I’ll explain death and injury in the Q&A. You’re out of initiative. I really expected that to last more than a round and at least get off one psychic power…)
