Topic: Continuing Where We Last Left Off
Subject: wow, the S is hitting the fan

Adrian was sort of in a daze. The building was coming down, sure, and he had to get out. But something still burned from within him.

"Wind..."

Char's stare was no secret. Adrian matched it with one of pure fury, and as much "I'm on your side" as he was capable of. He wanted that mage dead, and he wanted Wind back. She was the only Red about whom he ever gave a screw - both figuratively and literally.

Bastard sword in hand, Adrian muttered the incantation for a detect invisibility spell. He waited until his vision was able to sweep the whole room before exiting and calling an all clear. Of course that was assuming he had time before the roof came down on him. With eagle like eyes his head bounced around scanning for any signs of invisible foes.

Should his vision detect the two mages still within the building, he'll let loose with a dispel magic. If not, he will escape outside and reassess the situation.

Topic: World's Largest Dungeon
Subject: Day 1

We have decided to take a less-serious approach, and only use player names in game and be less formal with the mapping and realism. Partly because we've been playing together for years and have all grown a bit tired with realistic names (having just finished a very long realistic campaign), and partly because we just want to beat up on some things.

Besides, if we're going to be playing this for a while, we need a little humor.

This might change as we go on. Anyway the dungeon is very 4th-wall unfriendly, and constantly makes reference and includes out of game items - such as motivation being "You just bought this new dungeon and are going to play it." or "You just started college and need somethign to do for the next four years."

Of course we're just *finishing* college, but nonetheless...

That being said... you might recognize the character names. I'll give you one guess as to what we were watching. A karma goes to the first person to answer correctly (no googling/wiki-ing!)

Ruby - Greyelven Factotum (Dungeonscape)

Corbin - Strongheart Halfling Warlock (Complete Arcane)

Azeze - Mongrelfolk Cleric of Hextor.

The group is neutral leaning evil, and are accompanied by a packmule.

Anyway, the story begins with Azeze leading a small band of Hextor's worshippers (Corbin and Ruby) in open rebellion against the church. Hextor however, takes pity on them and spares their lives. He decides that their punishment shall be death, however being the lawful being he is - he chose to reward the loyal albeit misplaced servants by giving them a chance to change the face of the church forever.

They shall conquer the Worlds Largest Dungeon... and then be ready to challenge the current leadership. Or die in the process. Either way.

So as they climb the mountain, they note a titan, lying dead at the entrance to a cave. He has numerous papers in his pocket written in an ancient language, and gargantuan gear the party has little interest in carrying. They descend deeper until the light fades to total darkness...

We use miniatures. My group has been using them for about 4 years, and we don't really see a need to stop.

Yes, the WLD is readily available for about 40 bucks on Ebay. Retail is $100, though I'm sure it's in print anymore.

Skari: Our dungeon only has 1 entrance and exit These characters will either complete or die in the dungeon. I think it cheapens the adventure to have multiple entrances and exits.

Also, in the case of death before resurrections are possible: I think it's very possible that characters get separated from their parties and search for new ones, or even wander into the dungeon alone for some reason or another - so replacement isn't an issue.

The World's Largest Dungeon. 800+ pages of a single dungeon crawl. It has a special one-way entrance, so there is no leaving once the party enters.

Begins at level 1, ends at level 20.
Includes every single type of monster in the 3e core.
Covers one year of game time, roughly 1.5 years of real time assuming a 3 hr/week session.

I'm starting it with my tabletop group this week. I plan on chronacling the journey here. It should prove to be epic.

Siegfried concurred. Tram could no doubt find any traps and safely open the door, and Valerick's shield would prove useful to protect the front.

That left the back... or front, whichever it was. Siegfriend made his way to what used to be the front, before they made their detour. Siegfried positioned himself with his back to the dead end they were approaching only a few minutes before. That gave him as clear a view as he could have in the dark.

What's your real resolutions? Not the lose weight, quit smoking, be a better person, all those. Give me the REAL resolutions.

Mine is to learn to juggle. I'm tired of being clumsy and uncoordinated - time I did something about it. I can type about 90 words per minute, shoot a bow and rifle with decent accuracy, and I was playing video games before I could read. I should have decent dexterity, right? Apparently not. Thus I'm learning to juggle to try and improve my problem.

How about you?

I'm going to figure that since musicians travel, and none that I know (and I know more than a few) knit, I'm going to say #3.

Here's mine, a bit academic:

1) I have twice flunked a major exam
2) I have twice scored the highest grade on a major exam
3) I played bagpipes for my school's band competition during the Scottish medley

Subject: A new wind?

Adrian was shocked - sort of. Granted, he knew little about the Green corps, but the way Dapple reacted told him that nothing was as it seemed. He jumped back and readied a spell in case something went awry, but luckily it wasn't needed. Dapple seemed to take care of the situation. Maximus didn't fare very well though. Such is the fate of hesitation, he supposed.

Then the lightning hit. Looks like the Reds found us. this could be interesting.

"Adrian? Is that you?"

That voice... It's been so long.

But she was gone. He had barely heard the call for his and Jal's death.

"Wind..."

Char was right - it was time to get out of here. Before he had only a professional interest in this place - and the obvious desire to take on a few Reds - but now it was personal.

"Yes, let's hurry. Either we just got screwed, or things are about to get extremely interesting."

Valentine drew his glassteel bastard sword - the memories came rushing back now. She had to have recognized it. I wonder if she thought I'd still be using it...

"Are you sure he's dead?" Tram asked as they sized up their next situation.

"Yes... his chest aborbed the blow of a flying tree. The storm outside is definately violent."

He bowed his head as the cleric said a few words, then nodded to the gnome. "Perhaps it would be best if you went first - I am good at springing ambushes, and overcoming them - but not so proficient in spotting them. Let me get us some light."

Siegfried rummaged around in his pack, searching for a light source. (I know I have a bullseye somewhere in there)

"Perhaps that is karma speaking - the death of a companion, and a companion he was - is always an occasion for mourning."

Siegfried turns to the others, latching his spear in it's normal resting place on his back.

"Someone help him up. My rope is still around here somewhere. I have some skill at this myself - I shall try my luck."

(OOC: Come on down, I'm the next contestant on fwa-BAM. Going the side path)
