Tek,

Steelight noted in "The Sage Departs" that he will no longer be around at the Inn... so apparently, you'll be losing Koriss as well. Sad...

Subject: I know I said I wouldn't, but...

[OCC: I know I said I wouldn’t be able to post, but I just got back from a work meeting that included 2 cups of coffee. Extravert (gain energy from people) + caffeine = me wired and ready to go! )

With Rain in his care, Tobias had only one singular purpose -- deliver her alive and in one piece back to camp. The ex-soldier had no desire to explore this place or clear out the Death Brigade. That could all wait for another day, another time.

But Tobias was not ignorant. The man knew that the task ahead was fraught with challenges. When the group of captives began rifling through the discarded possessions of the storeroom, the ex-templar met the first, and likely the greatest, challenge – how to keep this rag-tag group together and moving. He wanted to bark orders at them, to call them to attention, to demand some discipline... but pity won the day, and he bit his tongue, trusting that the gods who had favoured them thus far.

Instead, the stout man set his strength to moving a far more simple object – the variety of items they had stacked against the door that would lead to their freedom... Or death, Tobias reminded himself.

By the time he had move the furniture aside, the captives seemed ready to move on. In his mind, Tobias tried to envision what lay behind the door, tried to remember the how the tunnel was shaped and the likely places his foes would be positioned. He thought about Grimm, walking but still injured, and considered offering the barbarian his crossbow. He didn’t though... he knew the burly man well enough now to know Grimm liked his battles close up. Instead, Tobias sheathed his sword and loaded the crossbow as he prepared to open the door.

The scene on the other side was not what the soldier had expected. The Brigade man, embedded with two arrows, quickly brought Tobias’ eyes and crossbow up, scanning the hallway for someone, friend or foe. Indeed, the gods favour us this day.

Tobias’ eyes found what he was looking for, barely... a woodsman knelt near another prone Brigade member. The soldier thanked what gods might be still working on behalf of man that the shooter seemed not a foe, for if he had been, Tobias judged the woodsman would have likely been able to put to arrows in his chest long before he had been spotted.

Still, the bearded man kept his crossbow on the mysterious figure. Even as Koriss and Kaimelle joined Tobias, the ex-templar called out, “If you are the source of the arrows in my enemy here, I thank you. If you are looking for freedom, I welcome you to join us. If you are here to hinder us, I warn you to step aside, or you will join the present dead.

[OOC: I’m leaving it here, as I don’t want to assume any dialogue. However, I would love it if our next update was moving us forward towards the camp. That’s Tobias’ plan – Assuming that the woodsman joins us (or doesn’t), Tobias is looking to lead the captives back the refugee camp. If I had to suggest a walking order though, I’d put Koriss and the Woodsman upfront, leading and looking out for traps/enemies; followed by the Bard and Kaimelle leading the people; followed by the people and Nick (who I’d love to see sticking close to Rain); followed by Grimm and Tobias taking up the rear guard. That’s just my opinion... If you all have other ideas, lay them out here or on the Q/A board]

Subject: My apologies, Tek

I should have written something earlier this week, indicating that I would not likely be posting... I just keep hoping I'll have the time this week.

Anyway, three things:

1) I'm sorry. I definitely should have given you a heads up about my status. I dislike it fail to say what's up, and now I'm guilty of it too.

2) The game is really good. Your posts rock in detail and mystery. I really love the world and story you've created. I also think the cast here is really great. You've gathered a good group of players around you. Some of us are a bit flakey, but the post quality is awesome (IMO).

3) I would like to get off at the "next stop". Meaning once this rescue bit is done, and there is a "natural" place for Tobias to exit, I'd like to do that. I think his departure from the group should be fine, you will have a well rounded cast without him. With our seventh child just born and a heavier work schedule at the moment, I need to drop out.

I, however, think you all should continue on! Like I said, the story and cast are great, just like the DM and players!

My 2 cents,
Ayrn

p.s. Tobias is in favor of making contact/friends with the "new elfy" and getting the heck outta Dodge. Sorry I don't have time to post IC this week.

[OOC: Moving forward... to attacking!]

The discovery of the desecrated patch of star-moss greatly troubled Aly. Sure, she had seen the blacksmith’s apprentice with his bad burns. And, there had been Harn’s close quarters’ battle with the bear. But the sight of all that blood, poured out and smeared across the earth’s floor, made the young druid squeamish.

Aidan sniffed the air and gave a low growl.

Aly called her companion to her side, allowing the others to pass her by, before taking up the rear. Even before she could hear the decadent slopping of the beast, Aly had Geron’s gift in her hand.

But, even though she had seen the beast-pup this very day, the sight of its mother still left her mouth dropped open in wonder. When the beast finally caught their scent, Aly moved back into action, slipping a stone into the sling, hoping to release it before all her companions joined the fray. Aidan returned the beast’s threat, growl for growl, though he stayed near Aly, guarding his charge until she commanded otherwise.

[OOC:Again, Aly will attempt to attack the beast with her ling while commanding Aidan to guard. Second round, if there is an opening for Aidan to move into melee range and Aly is not in any danger, she will command him to attack as well.]

Subject: My post, so far... so tired!

The creature’s trail started off as quite obvious. Broken twigs where it had jumped through bushes, scratched moss where it had pounded its paws, upturned soil where it had first seen the rabbit and tried to pounce on it; these signs were very clear. They brought them a whole fifty yards further. Then the trail dropped dead, as Ta’nil was no experienced tracker. Aly took over and though she had claimed not to be a tracker, she could sift the details of the forest a bit finer than her Sylvari companion.

As the Syl took up the role of scout, brazing ahead of the group in search of the beast, Aly was content to stay closer to the back. Her eyes made a careful search of the forest around them, noting the various flora as they passed by. In particular, she was looking to see if the beast’s pup seemed to be attracted to any kind of plant in particular.

[OOC:Aly will be continuing this check for as long as they have the pup’s trail, including when she is leading the group. Knowledge [Nature] +5, Survival +5, Spot +4, Search +0, Intelligence +0, Wisdom +3... not sure which checks will be appropriate.]

They hadn’t gone far, however, when the group came to a halt. Aly and Aidan moved to the front to see what they had discovered.

“Not much luck, Ta’nil?” asked the young druid, her question innocent and honest.

[OOC: Takley feel free to insert a response for Ta’nil. Aly truly is asking the question in all innocence. She is not looking to embarrass Ta’nil at all.]

Aly would not have been surprised if the Syl had lost the trail already. Nature’s own were often skilled at leaving little or no trail behind them... who could say what these beast’s were capable of?

Still, as Aly surveyed the scene, the young druid was able to notice the seemingly random zigzagging of the beast-pup. “Follow me,” she said humbly. “See how this branch on the bush is bent back? I think we still have the trail.” Aidan seemed to agree, as the dog moved further along, nose to the ground as he went.

Turning to Ta’nil, she spoke softly, “If you would, I’d like it if you’d stay close. I’d hate to come upon the beast alone.”

[OOC:Again, Takley, feel free to add a reply. Regardless... Aly continues on, with or without company.]

For a while, between the two of them, Aly and Aidan were able to find a claw mark here and a snapped twig there, but by the early part of the afternoon, even they had lost the creature’s trail. Taking a break, Aly noticed that her employer’s wounds had re-opened, and his injuries were showing signs of taking their toll on the man.

The druid approached Geron privately (well, with as much privacy as their present circumstances allowed), and cautiously addressed the matter. “Sir, I don’t mean to be rude,” Aly began. “But the wound on your back has opened again. Would you mind if I checked it for a moment?”

[OOC:Almerin, as per your post, I am assuming he will allow Aly to check... if not, please skip/delete this next section.]

Aly gently lifted the man’s shirt, carefully attempting not to rip away and scab that had already formed. She rebuked herself for not reciting the greater words of sacred healing this morning, all she had in her mind were the simple healing poem Helena had taught her to undo a little scrape or bruise. Use what you know, dearie, Helena’s voice chided her. “Alright..” Taking a smooth stone from her pocket, she began to recite the poem:

“Stone so round, you I found
Not much to ask, just a little task
Give life today, give it away.”

As she spoke the words of the poem, she moved the stone over the wound, the small rock gradually being consumed by the spell, some of magical dust produced entered into some of the wound, helping to mend the brokenness.

Addressing Geron, she said, “It’s not much, but all I have for the moment. If you give me some time, I may be able to find some herbs to help heal it further.”

[OOC:Almerin, if given permission, Aly will begin his search for some healing herbs and, if found, prepare them for Geron. If not, then that’s fine too..

Tobias barely heard the freed captive approach over the groans of Grimm. The ex-knight's mind was still fixed on get the big man's ill-fitted armour off so that the friar could work his skills in herblore and healing.

The tingling sensation that crept through his blood-soaked hand caught his attention though, and Tobias watched in amazement as the terrible rend across his companion's chest knit itself back together, the big Gano's breathing becoming more regular. "Thank you, sir," Tobias said finally to the stranger.

The warrior wiped his companion's blood on his cloak as he stood. "Tobias," the ex-knight pointed at himself as way of introduction. Pointing to the priest, he continued, "and Friar Nicholas. We're here to get you out. Though, I'm wondering if among you is a young lass na ..."

His voice trailed off as a wave of calming peace washed over him. He turned around, searching for the source, wondering what it could mean. His eyes finally fell on a young lass who emerged from within the crowd of released prisoners.

Noone needed to speak... Tobias knew deep in his heart that this girl was the one. Within her presence, the ex-knight almost found grace to wash away all his past sins... almost found peace for his weary soul... almost found hope for his future in this life...

Almost...

The elf woman's voice brought him back to the present. Her suggestion to retrace their steps out seemed wise enough... while he knew there were Brigaders trying to hack into the other room, it seemed wise to try and fight through the enemy you knew, rather than wander through the halls none knew.

"I agree," stated the warior with renewed determination. "Let's leave this place behind." Turning to Korviss, "You still got that spear you ran in here with?"

[OOC: Assuming a "yes".]

"Think our friend here," indicating the bard, "might use it for the time being? Or," looking back towards Grimm's rescuer, "would you perfer this dagger?" Tobias offered his dagger to the man.

Once around, twice around, need to get this just right, Alyannah gently tried to focus herself as she aimed and released her stone. The thought of hitting her companions was overshadowed by her desire to down this unnatural beast.

The stone hit with a prefect precision that even surprised the young druid. “I did it!” she blurted out, delighted with herself. “Did you see that, Aidan? Bop! Right between the eyes.” But even as she spoke, she suspected something wasn’t quite right.

The sigie, Ryan, said it first. “That was easy... perhaps too easy?”

Already, she could see some of her companions’ bodies tightening up, keeping a close eye on the woods around them. Aly went with Geron to take a closer look at the creature.

“That’s not the monster that attacked me.” Geron said, groaning as he shifted his body. “It looks the same, but it’s too small.”

“But… that has to be it!” Ryan said. “It attacked us and look at that thing… it is repulsive… it has to be the beast”

Aly knelt beside the beast, running her hands across its hide and checking its claws. Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself to pull aside the loose flaps of skin around creature’s mouth, examining the gum lines and teeth. She gasped, “This is just a pup.”

“What?” Ryan asked looking at the creature.. “so … there is probably a larger version out there somewhere?”

She looked up at Geron with wonder. “Full grown... it would be... much bigger.”

"Of course, just a pup,” piped in the Khord craftsman. “And ya know how a mother bear is to her cubs, well this thing is probably just as ferocious, and most certainly will be pissed right off!"

“So,” continued Ryan, “you think the other is around here? If it is… it probably heard this one screeching!”

“Others,” corrected Aly thoughtfully. “It’s quite possible that the beast had more than one pup in her litter. Though, whether the mother is nearby, I don’t know. This creature, while just a pup, may have already been left to make it on its own.” The thought of half a dozen of these creatures, in addition to at least one full grown beast, did not warm the young cidal’s heart.

Standing up, Aly continued, “I’m no tracker, but if the mother is nearby, I’d say let’s see if we can follow the trail this creature made back through those bushes.”

Geron sat his pen to paper. “I suppose I do. Just don’t start throwing any mugs at me, ok? Now, I can offer you 10 gold pieces for the effort, but no financial consolation to your family should you die. Is that agreeable?”

Aly turned a shade of red at Geron’s comment about the mug, “My apologies, sir. No more mug throwing. I promise.” She said, making a gesture of drawing an “X” over her heart with her finger as she spoke.

Having agreed to Geron’s terms, Aly made her way to the innkeeper, Whalen. The man was getting a mop and bucket ready to clean up the spilt ale and broken mug. “I’m awfully sorry, Whalen, for the mess I made. Can I clean it up?”

Whalen looked at the lass with wise eyes, “Well, I really don’t mind, little mousey. I’m mean, I feel bad for how those boys treated you. They had what was coming to them, that’s a sure thing.” He looked at Aly’s remorseful face before continuing. “Though I can see how mopping up might help clean your spirit too.” He handed the mop to her, “Alright, little mousey, you can clean it up, but then that’s it. We call it even then, hmmm. I don’t need you feeling like you owe me something, alright.”

“Thanks, Whalen,” smiled Aly as she took the mop and made quick work of cleaning up the mess she’d made... and mopped up the rest of the place while she was at it.

When she was finished, Aly and Aidan hurried back home and shared all that had happened with Helena.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Early the next morning, Aly and Aidan set out to meet with Geron and the rest of the hunting party at the western edge of town. While she knew the lands south and east better, the Cidal had walked through these woods before with Helena on one of their many visits to the surrounding Hamlets. Aly greeted those she knew in the party, and introduced herself briefly to those she didn’t.

As they walked and talked their way along the road, Aly freely pointed out interesting flowers and fungus, until Geron halted and pointed at the road. The sand was upturned there, marking the spot of his struggle with the beast. Pawprints resembling a wolf’s but bigger, lined the road. Aly examined the prints carefully but could not think of any creature that might make them.

“This was where I was attacked,” Geron stated. “I suggest you keep your weapons at a ready. I lost my longsword in the fight, so keep an eye out for it, please.”

Aly gripped her staff in both her hands a bit more tightly and, at that moment, locked eyes with Geron, who looked disapprovingly.

“I don’t need you to get close to that creature, little miss,” Geron said as he approached Aly. “The old herbalist would never forgive me. Here, give this a try.”

Aly took the offered sling from the sigie. She wondered for a moment if he knew, knew that almost from birth Aly had grown up with a sling. Stooping down from time to time as they walked, the young Cidal selected with practice ten smooth stones and placed them in a belt pouch, easily accessible when the time came.

Spending the most of the day walking through the woods was a good day in Aly’s eyes. And yet, she wondered how long she’d be on this little adventure. The young lass had kind of hope they’d be done by lunch and she’d be back with Helena for afternoon tea... it was now late afternoon. Hmmm... I suppose we’ll just have to do without tea today, she thought to herself.

Just then a frightened rabbit darted through her legs. Normally, Aidan would have bounded after the creature, but instead her faithful companion gave a low growl at the bushes from which the rabbit had come. Something was still thrashing in there.

A moment later, the “thing” burst through the bushes. Aly eyed the creature with fright, taking a step back. Somewhere in her mind, it registered that this rumours were most definitely false -- This is no wolf, thought the young druid. In fact, Aly doubted the thing was natural at all.

“Attack!” came Geron’s cry, rallying the party back to their senses. Aly, for her part, heeded her employer’s words and did not get any nearer to the creature. Slinging a stone, she took quick aim at the beast and let it sail. Calling Aidan with her, the Cidal looked to position herself ten to fifteen feet behind Geron, Traubon, and Jethro.

“Kith-Jora, protect us,” she whispered as she slung another stone.

Tobias took quick stock of the situation in the aftermath of their battle. Their foe had more than a few tricks up his sleeve, and the ex-templar knew he would need to be more wary the next time should meet.

The priest's grave words that the gods would not be healing their fallen companion today brought Tobias very much back into the present moment. Korviss was quick to note that having to carry the Grim's dead weight would indeed slow them down... a fair point, of which even Grim would likely agree.

Still...

"Is there nothing to be done?" Tobias asks the priest. "What about the orange salve? And the leaves? Couldn't we used that?"

Turning to Korviss, he said, "Take her," indicating Kaimelle and see if you can unlock the door, and find the girl."

Turning his attention back to the priest, Tobias said, "How can I help, friar?"

Truth is, the situation is pretty much out of your hands. The beautiful part about your boyfriend and your story is that you get to see a glimpse of the full reality, that a good part of life is out of our hands.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't make plans and such, but lots of plans change. So, if I were you, and I had four days of vacation time, and the financial means to travel, and my boyfriend stood a good possibility of going to jail for 3+ years... I'd go visit him.

If you don't have the financial means to travel... well, then I guess you don't need to worry about whether or not to spend your 4 days off with your boyfriend.

I'm just saying, be present in the moment, for this moment is most certainly passing. Jail time, not jail time... who can say with certainity about what is to come? So why worry about it.

I took some liberties with some of the townsfolk and even, Geron. I normally wouldn't do it with one of the Dm's npcs, but I felt it worked. Almerin, if I overstepped, please feel free to correct and change.

I also named the innkeeper of the Golden Barley Inn. His name is currently Whalen. Again, feel free to correct that, Almerin!

Alyannah was walking with Helena through the town, making their usual rounds to visit some of Stone’s Hollow’s sick and elderly. Not so usual these days, thought the young apprentice. Fear had hung heavy over the idyllic village these past days. First, the severed arm in the town square; then ol’ Garret – a fine woodsman he was – comes running into town, raving about some wild wolf. And now, this stranger, Geron – Aly had seen him briefly when she had delivered some special herbs for Helena to the doctor – he came with wild tales of the beast, and some fairly wicked claw marks to boot.

Even Helena, whom Aly knew as one of the most serene sigies in all of Stone Hollow, seemed burdened by the weight of the town’s fear. “There’s something out there, sweetie,” she’d said. “I feel in my bones, though the earth itself seems not ready to reveal what it is to my mind.”

“I’m sure all will soon become clear, ma’am,” replied Aly reassuringly.

But Helena remained troubled. And her worry increased all the more as the two approached the town square only to find a commotion of activity again. The people respectfully stepped aside for the wise woman as she moved to the center to see what all the excitement was about. Aly followed close behind. The elder druid examined the paper, which was the cause for the gathering, briefly and then turned away without a word. Aly took a moment longer to read the simple poster. Brave men and women wanted for a hunting party? See Geron in ol’ Barley Inn? Aly was a bit surprised that the injured stranger was up and at it already. Eager as a newborn lamb to get up and try his legs, he is, she thought, mildly annoyed at the man’s disturbance of the peace.

When Helena and Aly arrived back at their home on the edge of town, the elder seemed caught up in her thoughts. “Is something the matter, ma’am?”

Helena came out of her reverie for a moment, only to say, “Why don’t you make us some tea, little doe, and then join me under the old oak. I need to think a bit more.”

Aly nodded and curtsied before setting out to do her mistress’ will. She did not hurry about her work, for these past five years had taught Aly to know when Helena wished for some time alone to root herself and deeply embrace the world around her.

When the tea was brewed, Aly carefully placed the pitcher and the cups upon a stone tray -- a fine piece of craftsmanship purchased from the gentle Traubon -- and fetched a couple of corn meal muffins she had baked earlier that day. She found Helena under the ancient oak tree near their home, kneeling. Her body was still, yet her eyes seemed to be searching for something under their closed lids. Aly patiently and silently waited for her mistress, careful not to interrupt whatever communion she was experiencing.

The elder druid suddenly gasped and her eyes opened wide. “Ma’am!” Aly cried out. Helena caught her breath, comforting her apprentice, “It’s okay, my dear,” said she weakly, and then laughly lightly as she continued “Even at my age there are still some lessons to learn, sweetie. And today’s lesson: Never try to pick the fruit of knowledge before it is ready to be harvested. Either you will be unable to wrestle it from the world, or it will spoil in your mind.”

Aly tucked the saying into her own mind for later processing while offering Helena a cup of tea. The old sigie sipped it slow, stopping to say thanks after her first pull. “It is delightful, as usually, Aly.” Helena paused briefly for a moment, before adding, “I say indeed miss your tea.”

“Thank yo...” began Aly, before she caught the implications of her mistress’ words. “What do you mean ‘miss’ it, ma’am? Are you going somewhere?”

“Sit down, little doe,” Helena indicated the grass next to her. When Aly had made herself comfortable, Helena continued. “I would like you to speak to the stranger about joining his hunting party.”

Aly looked at Helena incredulously, “What? Er... I mean... sorry, ma’am, but I’m afraid I don’t know what you mean?”

Helena took a long, deep breath, before speaking, “Aly, I am well into my winter years, and you are nearly out from your spring ones. It is time for me to fade and you to grow. It is time for you to walk the world on your own two feet.”

“Oh, ma’am, please don’t say this,” cried the young Cidal. “I’m not ready yet to make it alone.”

“Now, now,” laughed Helena. “Who said anything about being alone. I’m not ready to be alone. No, no, I meant just a short time away... just a short journey for you... an adventure and a lesson, sweetie. You’ll see,” she smiled.

Aly smiled too, but it was a bit more forced. “I’ll go, ma’am. See if this stranger will even take me along on his hunt. I doubt he had a sheepherder’s daughter in mind when he placed the poster.”

Helena smiled widely. “Take Aidan with you to keep you company. He could use a little adventure, and I suspect his nose might be of some use to you before you’ll journey is complete.” She paused before adding, “Besides, he’d just whine the whole while you were gone, so you might as well take him and give me a bit of peace around here.” Turning back to the house, she whistled, “Aidan!”

====================================

Aly and Aidan made their way to the ol’ Barley Inn. Sure enough the stranger was sitting there behind his desk, and a small line of townsfolk had formed already. Aly was impressed at the people of Stone’s Hollow. Seemed the stranger had found a way to help the folks turn their fear into a bit of courage.

“Eh, look, Jared,” said a familiar voice behind Aly. Carson. The young sigie was a thorn for the Cidal. “Little Aly fancies ‘erself a warrior.”

The little druid ignored the man’s taunts as they continued through the line. “Wonder whether the beast would kill ‘er or not. Not a lot of meat there. The creature just might take a pass on ‘er, not waste ‘is time.”

It was just about Aly’s turn to approach the stranger’s desk, so she turned to face her tormentor for a moment, hoping to speak sense to the sigie... as if he has any! “Please, Carson, I’m on a special errand for my mistress and I would kindly like it if you did not intrude on my hopes of joining this little party.”

Carson merely raised his eyebrows in mock surprise, “Oh, I see, I see... so sorry to intrude, m’lady.”

“Next,” called the stranger. Aly gathered her wits about herself as she approached the desk.

“What kind of special errand, Aly?” mocked Carson.

“Name please, ma’am,” stated the stranger.

“Aly,” replied the Cidal lass. “Alyannah Appleblossom. Helena, Hollow’s herbalist has sent me to you.” She bowed, causing the stranger to have to peer over the edge of the desk to see the Cidal.

“Ah, yes,” Geron replied. “I remember your mistress’ kindness to me. Please give her my thanks, though I’m not sure I’ll have need for you on this hunt.”

“Oh, I know,” chimed in Carson. “The little skirt’s meant as bait. Drive the wolfman wild with lust and draw the beast out.”

“Please, sir,” pleaded Aly. “I know we’re not much to look at, but Aidan and I... well, I know we’ll be able to help you out.”

“Well,” Geron hesitated. “I’m not sure...”

“You know what they say, right, Jared,” sneer Carson. “Half the size, twice the fun.”

Aly’s nostrils flared for a brief moment. Pointing at the stranger’s mug of ale, Aly asked sweetly, “You mind if I borrow that for a moment.” Not waiting for a response, she quickly grabbed the clay cup and, in one fluid motion, spun around and launched the projectile at her tormenter.

The mug made contact with Carson’s face, the clay shattering with the impact, the dark ale sopping his hair. Stunned, the young sigie took a moment to gather his senses back. “You little wen...”

He would have enacted vengeance if Aidan had not stepped in at that moment, baring his teeth and giving the bully a low, deep warning growl. It was Jared who finally spoke wisdom, “Come on, Carson. Let’s leave her be.” Jared had no doubt noted other men in the crowd who seemed ready to come to Aly’s aid as well. He firmly pulled his friend to the door, “We don’t need no trouble.”

As the fuss died down, Aly turned to the owner of the Golden Barley, “Sorry, Whalen. Can you get our guest another round of whatever he was drinking? And what do I owe you for the mug?”

“Don’t worry ‘bout it, Aly! Them boys had it comin’ to them. I’m just glad I got to see it!” Whalen said with a wide smile. “It’s on me today. Thanks for the entertainment.”

Aly merely gave the innkeeper a grin, before turning back to Geron. “So, sir, what do you say? Think you might have a spot for Aidan and me?”

... there is no try.

Seriously, though, it's a first level character. No excuses! Get it done! I love you!

The awkward space and their foe's skill frustrated Tobias to no end. The lack of time in the company of the Gano and the elf maiden also showed in their lack of coordination in battle... it was a test in patience for one used to military tactics and discipline.

But the ex-templar continue his attempt to press the advantage -- their enemy's blindness was a perfect opportunity that Tobias hoped not to lose.

The soldier tried to manuever to the side of his opponent and with a reverse downward stroke (or thrust...whichever works best with the space) attempted to sever the man-in-black's leg at the knee.

[OOC: Forget what all the combat terms are... but Press the Advantage while trying to out-manuever him. I liked your image of Grimm and Tobias like a vicegrip on the man. ]

Al,

I always love your sense of humour! Reading through the various monster-types... so good.

If you run shy a player, I'd be interested in one of them big fighter types. The thought of using a cow as a weapon of destruction... priceless. I'm not new, so hit me with a PM if you need me.

Almerin,

Will the village we start off in be kind of a permanent home-base throughout this and most of the other adventures? Or will the party become more of a travelling band of monster hunters, moving from town to town, helping people rid themselves of baddies?

The reason I ask is because, initially, I was thinking of a character who was deeply tied to the community.

Anyway, let me know what you're thinking.

Thanks!
Ayrn
