Topic: Filthy Thief Q/A
Subject: I didn't include it in my post, but...

I think we should come back to Goddfrey later on... either today or tomorrow and ask if we can deliver/ serve up those pastries at the courthouse for him. I think it will be our "in" to get a word with Velch... or at least listen in on some great conversation.

We should probably try to NOT make a scene at the courthouse today then either... so that noone is on to us on Thirkday when we go in all "Ocean's Eleven" like...

Behave yourself, Percy!

Just kidding, Sui! You all rock! Play your characters as you are, and I'm sure this will be a rocking adventure!

Subject: Just a quick post so you don't have to wait on me...

As Pio approached the bridge, a sign caught his attention and caused him to pause for a double look. Sure enough, there it was.

Freeman's Way...

"Hey, wait a minute." Pio called out to his siblings. When they had stopped, Pio pointed out the sign to them. "Isn't that the name of the place Goddfrey said Dory said she was going to?"

OOC: Tag everyone. Insert affirmation here.

"Think we should check it out now, or come later tonight, after we pay the courthouse and the guards' quarters a visit?"

Pio nodded at Goddfrey as he looked to excuse himself. “Thank you, brother. I suspect we’ll be off before you are finished with your clients. Thanks for the bread and the information.”

Freemen’s Way, huh… hmmm… The name didn’t conjure up any memories for the knight either.

When the baker had left, Lammoth said what Pio was thinking. ''Let's get out of here. It might be nice to see Dorothy again, but I have no idea where that tavern is, so I suggest we carry on with our planned out route, and inquire on the way.''

“Good idea,” Pio said simply, as he helped himself to a loaf of bread. He took in the smell of the fresh loaf deeply, enjoying the simplicity of the moment.

You done alright, eh, Goddfrey? he thought fondly as he took another smell and let the previous conversation with his brother sink in.

It was only a moment, though, before the weight of their current situation looked the press upon the knight a sense of urgency again.

“Shall we head across the river and pay the courthouse a visit?” asked Pio.

OOC: I’m assuming we’re all agreed here, yes? Courthouse next, then guard barracks?

Subject: Skipping Ahead...

OOC: Sorry, gang, I'm skipping straight to the bakery as I don't have time to backpost... sorry for missing some great RP opportunities.

IC: Pio was content that the others were taking charge of the situation at Goddfrey's bakery. The knight wasn't sure their good brother would know much about the councilor. But maybe... maybe he'd run into a few of their other siblings... knew where they might be found.

Pio chimed in after Percy, "The bread would be great, Goddrey! Thank you. Percy's right, though. Best way you can help us out right now is with information. If you know anything about the councilor, that would be quite helpful. Even more so, though, we're wondering if you've run across a few of our other siblings since making a place for yourself outside the orphanage. We're also looking to speak with Joey, Mills, and Dory. Grikky, too... though I heard he's taken up with the Drefast guards. Seen any of them lately? KNow where we might find them."

OOC: Joey = Joe deLaro, Mills = Mills Zandergrek, Dory = Dorothy Galios. I hope it is okay to come up with pet names for our siblings.

Subject: No problem

The 70 point stat spread will be fine.

I will be creating the halfling fighter/thief with the traveler kit, if that be okay.

Regarding NWP... I think that with Aranel I gave him bonus NWP for the high intelligence. Do you play with that rule, or was that just a house rule I remember from growing up? That characters gain bonus NWP at first level equal to the number of bonus languages that their INT score grant them?

How would you feel about bumping the ability score points up to 76-80 range?

Regarding my character... I'm not sure I'll keep either. Sorry. I didn't really create either of them for a "long term" campaign. They were really just there for the night.

Anyway, I'm leaning towards a Halfling Fighter/ Thief with the Traveler kit from BofG&H. He's kind of got a bit of wanderlust to him, so that might work well with me having to miss every other session (the little guy's just wandered off somewhere).

Anyway... curious about what you think of the stat boost, Vorrioch. It sure would be mighty kind of you.

Subject: Can we do Saturday instead?

While I had initially meant, "Hey, if you're doing another 'one-shot' adventure via chat, look me up." A whole regular campaign might be interesting

I have plans for this Friday night. Is Saturday open and a possibility? If the majority can make it on Friday night, though, then I'll just have to miss this round.

Regardless, if the time stays at 10 PM - 2 AM GMT, I believe I will always be late. 10 PM GMT is 5 PM over here... right during the supper hour, which is the craziest time around our house (kids tired, trying to get food into them, and get them to bed.) 11:30 PM GMT is about the earliest I could show. I can play later than 2 AM GMT, though.

And if this is going to be regular affair, I think I'll also only be able to commit to meeting every other week.

Otherwise, I'm in. OIr, at least, give it a try. Our session had an almost tabletop feel, which was refreshing. I haven't played a tabletop game for nearly 3 years.

Anyway, hit me back!

Ayrn.

Yeah... way to go, Vorrioch! I thoroughly enjoyed my time.

I'm not sure I'd be interested in another forum-based game. BUT if you're ever thinking of running another chat-based game, look me up. I'm usually free on Friday-Monday nights. And would definitely be up for something like this again.

Thanks for making it happen, Vorrioch! Well done!

K... so really want to play... but may be a bit late. Maybe I'll let you create the character and I'll just show up and play.

Int: 12
Wis: 5

If I'm creating him... I hope to be up and running by 5:30 EST. See you then!

Subject: Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific time.

If he's looking to play the game at 10 PM - 3 AM GMT, that would be:

5 PM - 10 PM Eastern Standard Time (Toronto, New York)
4 PM - 9 PM Central Time (Winnipeg, Chicago)
3 PM - 8 PM Mountain Standard Time (Calgary, Denver)
and 2 PM - 7 PM Pacific Standard Time (Vancouver, LA)

I'm interested in playing too... definitely on Friday (though I may be a few minutes late) and maybe Saturday (we'll see... have to see what's on the family schedule).

I have a couple ideas, and they are somewhat dependant on a couple of your rulings, oh great DM.

Are you excepting kits?
Can we multi-class (assuming appropiate race and such)?

The characters I'm interested in are:

An elven fighter/mage (bladesinger kit).
A halfling fighter/thief (leaning towards wanderer kit).
Or a (likely) halfling thief.

Thanks!

Topic: Filthy Thief Q/A
Subject: Plan of attack

Here's my preferred route around town:

Visit the Bakery, pick up lunch and see if our connection there has any more leads, or can connect us with those siblings whose whereabouts are unknown

Visit Courthouse, locate the Counselor... or one of his lackeys to ask a few questions. I actually think approaching the Counselor may be a bad idea, and may get us into trouble. (especially if Percy decides make a called shot for his heart )

Visit Barracks, find our connection there and see if he has any leads, or connect us with those siblings whose whereabouts are currently unknown

Visit the Heart of Darkness. I think I'll want to have Pio pick up a change of clothes/ armor though before we enter. I think the idea of walking into some den of thieves wearing full breastplate armor might attract too much attention. So we may have to stop and do some quick shopping along the way and stop by the orphanage before heading to Heart of Darkness so Pio can change.

Sound like plan? Other ideas? Please post...

Subject: Mapping the journey

The knight was about to start working out the plan with the group, but decided against it. “Maybe we should talk a bit about us first though… catch up a bit. How about it, Miran? What have you been up to over the last few years?”

“Pio,” Llammoth paused for a moment, her voice as gentle as could be expected from a half-breed. “This is not the time for social ambiguity.”

“I…” Pio was about to reply – about to say that he agreed with her, that what he was really looking for was to see which of them still had contacts in Drefest, which of them had favours they could call in. He was about to say all this… but then Percy jumped in, her tongue as sharp as his sword.

"Thank you, Llamoth," said the woman, before turning on Pio. "I think you're crazy to be wasting time when it is so valuable. Perhaps we should start here. We did come here for a reason, didn't we?"

“Yes..” Pio began again. Again, he was cut off.

"I've been in and around the city mostly, “ Miran said, as he began to answer the knight’s question. “Though our sister is right… we should be addressing as many possible angles to this dillemma as quickly as we can. Whatever lead we find may be gone by the time we are finished catching-up."

“Indeed.” Pio simply stated, hiding his smirk behind his mug.

Percy began to dig into her bag and pulled out a piece of chalk. Pio finished off his ale and took yet another “cleansing breath”. As his sister began to draw a map on their table, Pio thought, Well, at least you’re not leading anymore.

Soon, Percy had a simple yet full map of Drefast drawn, complete with an “X” indicating where they were now. When she was finished, she piped up, “If nothing else, let's devise a pattern for travel that will use our time the most efficiently while we're here. We need to be able to go as many useful places as possible in the shortest amount of time."

Pio smiled at his sister, “Good idea, Percy.” He paused for a moment, remembering the names Ormander had given to them. “Well, Father said our brother Grikky has enlisted with the Drefast guards. He might have some information for us. My guess is if we want to find him, stopping by the guards’ barracks will be our best bet.

[OOC: Knowledge (Local) check to see if Pio knows where the guards’ barracks are located… if he does know, he’ll point to it on the map, but let Percy mark it.]

“Father also mentioned Goddfrey had gone on to become a baker. Not sure if he’ll have any information we’re looking for. But if we’re passing by his shop on the way back to the orphanage, perhaps we could stop in. If nothing else, he might know how to get in contact with Joey, Mills, or Dorothy.

[OOC: Again, if Pio knows, he’ll point out Goddfrey’s bakery, but let someone else mark it.]

Giving a nod in the barkeep’s direction, Pio continued, “We should also speak with good ol’ Bollo. Maybe, he knows what became of Joey, Mills, and Dorothy.

“Of course, I think we should stop by the courthouse at sometime in the near future. I doubt we’ll get an audience with Velch, but getting a feel for where the crime took place would be good… at least for me. Maybe we’ll be able to talk with one of the counselor’s representatives.

[OOC: Pio will figure that the courthouse is a well-known landmark, he won’t belittle Percy by pointing it out.]

“I think we should probably follow up on our thug’s lead. He talked about finding his informant, Virgin Stuart, down at the Heart of Darkness.

[OOC: Knowledge (Local) check to see if Pio knows where the “Heart of Darkness” is located. If he does, he’ll point it out on the map.]

Pio sighed, “If the thug was right…”

When the group had found a table, Pio stood up, “How about I get us some drinks? What everyone want?” Pio laughed a bit, knowing full well that the only thing served up here was likely watered down beer.

Walking up to the barman, Pio placed his order. “Six mugs of Ol’ Red. Easy on the water, if you don’t mind,” he said with a wink.

OOC: Does Pio know the Barman by name? Knowledge [Local] check?

When the barman had poured the first four mugs, Pio delivered them to the table, passing one to each of his “siblings”. He returned to the bar, paid the man, and came back to the table with the remaining two mugs, placing a second one in front of the quiet khord.

Sitting, Pio let his muscles relax as he took a long pull from his mug. He remained quiet for a moment, wanting to let someone else speak first. Taking the lead was not his first instinct… and yet, here he found himself again.

Turning to Miran, Pio began to fill him in on their previous conversation with their father, recapping Ormander’s plight. “As you know, Father has found himself in some serious trouble with some folks higher. Specifically, Councilor Velch is missing an emerald statue of some kind and he has accused our father as masterminding the theft. The good councilor is looking to get his statue back and has threatened to claim the orphanage as his own should his property not be returned to him within the week.”

Pio paused, taking another pull from his mug, allowing the others to add in any additional details.

OOC: Tag everyone.

Pio continued, “We figured we’d stop in here first to see if folks around here have heard anything regarding the matter… that, and to finish making our plans.” Smiling at Miran, “So, you’re just in time.”

The knight was about to start working out the plan with the group, but decided against it. “Maybe we should talk a bit about us first though… catch up a bit. How about it, Miran? What have you been up to over the last few years?”

OOC: Miran.

OOC [2] : After Miran, Pio will continue asking the others to share what they’ve been up to over the last few years.
