Subject: Update...

Hey! My wife`s water broke tonight and contractions have started. I imagine a little gal/guy to be pokin her/his head out sometime in the very near future.

So, I may be out for a little longer than Tuesday. Probably a couple of weeks. I may be able to throw up a little post here or there, but it will be sketchy at best. My apologies about that.

I`m not sure what you want to do with Jacks, Addy. I`m very excited about this game. The players lined up for it are hot and the character... well, this pretty much sums it up -->

So, NPC Jacks, maybe... or have him sit out for now. Or, I don`t know. Whatever you think is best.

I`ll keep you up to date!

Well, my wife`s water broke tonight, so we should have a baby someone soon(ish)... I may be out for a couple of weeks. If that means Melina gets to be a tasty zombie snack, so be it. Creating characters for this game is quick and easy so I`ll just join in again at a later date.

NPC her as you see fit, Master DM!

EDIT: We had a girl! Yay! (My wife is a champ!)

...and lo! and behold! It happens!

My wife`s water broke tonight. I suspect our 5th critter to be crawlin out sometime soon(ish).

So, I`ll likely be sketchy for a while. NPC Pio as you see fit!

EDIT: We had a girl! That makes it BOYS - 3; GIRLS - 2.

I`ve had some RL issues on the homestead here that have prevented my from posting.

I have a work conference this weekend and will not be back until Tuesday. My apologies.

I`ll try to post before I leave, but no promises. As a quick note, Jacks would be prompt in showing himself before the Inquisitor.

Pio's looking forward to working out some tension on the monster.

I'll be away until next Tuesday. Will try to catch up then...

Also, just so ya know, I'm expecting our 5th child to be emerging from its cocoon within the next few weeks (my wife is due on the June 2), so I make be moving in to sketchy posting land.

I always thought the same thing too, until Develaro drew my attention to the little rule in the 3.5 PHB while I was playing in the RDI Arena game. I was, like, "Wha...? "

But I checked it out and there it was. I was, like, "Wha...? "

True story.

Quick draw is still useful for a number of things... like being able to draw a weapon and still make a full-round attack, or to be able to make multiple attacks with thrown weapons.

Subject: Not trying to be a rule lawyer here...

Actually, on page 142 of the Player`s Handbook, second column, close to the bottom, under the heading `Drawing and Sheathing a Weapon` it states that if a character has a base attack of +1 s/he can draw or sheathe a weapon as part of a regular move action.

As far as the combat stats, I`ll double check the damage additions to make sure that they can stack... but I`m pretty sure they do.

Anyway... if you go with the ruling from the PHB, than I don`t think I need to change anything. If you disagree with that interpretation of the rules than, yes, I will edit it to say that Pio is only drawing his weapon and switching his stance to martial stance, and his aura to power, and taking the total defense action.

Can you guys raise the bar any higher? Honestly... nice posts, folks!

I hope to put up a post late tonight or tomorrow. I'll be honest, I've got NO idea about anything WH. So, I'm trying to do some research on the universe before posting.

But, like I said, nice work, folks! Very enjoyable reads!

Subject: Shopping trip

Melina looked over at the party girl as she slid in to the Jeep. What are you doing, girl? Picking up hitchhikers? Since when? she questioned herself. To the party girl, she simply smiled, waiting for the stranger to buckle up.

When the buckle went click, Melina reached over an arm, hand extended for a shake. `I`m Melina. What`s your name?`

[OOC: Assuming Jetta replies.]

`Well, Jetta, it shouldn`t take us too long to get to Walmart driving.` She smiled at the girl again.

The trip over to Walmart WAS only a short drive, but Melina gave space for Jetta to talk about herself, asking the goth girl some casual questions to help keep the awkward silence away. The announcement over the radio, silenced the women anyway. When the announcer said, `…avoid contact with strangers…` Melina looked over at Jetta and laughed a nervous laugh.

As they pulled into the parking lot, and Melina shifted the Jeep into park, she announced the obvious, `Well, here we are. Friendly, neighborhood Walmart.`

Turning off the ignition, the doors to the Jeep automatically unlocked. Almost simultaneously, Melina`s phone began to ring. As she exited the van, she flipped open her cell, noticed the man getting out of the car near her.

`Hello?` she said into her phone, as she locked the Jeep with the remote from her keychain.

“Melinaaa!” It was Angie. Thank God!

`Where are you, girl? I waited outside Kacee`s apartment for 10 minutes at least. You want a ride or not?`

She sounded drunkenly oblivious to the crumbling of the world around her.

“Sorry I missed your call…The music’s pretty loud and I guess a kid is pretty sick. I think it’s time for me to get myself on out o’ here! So hurry up with the coffees! Melina?”

`Yeah! Angie! I gotcha. I`m grabbing the coffees and I`m heading straight back. Don`t make me come up and get you, girl. I want you downstairs in 20 minutes. If I`m not there already, wait for me at the church next door there. Angie? You still there?`

After she had finished with Angie, she turned to Jetta, `I`m heading back to where I picked you up in fifteen… if you want a ride back there. Otherwise, it was nice meetin` you, Jetta.`

Feeling like she had down her share of good deeds for the day, Melina heading over to Dunkin` Donuts to grab the coffees.

[OOC: if the line up for coffee is exceptionally long, Melina won`t bother waiting around. She`ll grab a coke and a Mars bar from the Walmart checkout (paying for it of course).]

A little early too.

Sui, if Percy accepts Pio`s offer, we can RP our conversation through PMs if you like.

Also... I apologizes to everyone for using `` as quotation marks throughout my post. My 1 year old son thought if would be cool to pry off the quotation marks key off the keyboard.

Takes after his mom, he does.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!!
Subject: Yay! Battle!

Three to two was not really the consensus Pio had hoped for. And, in fact, he had almost wished to be out voted, if only to appease his sister.

The knight gave his sister a weak smile. He was tired. Tracking across the city is the heat of the day… he could handle that. But Percy`s tirades and spiteful words… those wore heavy on him. Without a word, Pio began to make his way towards the Freeman`s Way tavern. He stopped after a few paces however, and turned back to Percy.

`Sister, will you walk with me?` He offered her his arm… a gesture that he hoped Percy would see as a sign that he was still looking to work with her, in spite of their differing opinions.

[OOC: If Percy takes up his offer, cool! If we need to RP some conversation along the way, double cool, although conversation will need to be Percy`s initiative. Pio will be lost in thought… see below

If Percy does not accept the offer, cool! Pio will continue to lead the way to the tavern
]

As Pio walked on, he thoughts focused on Percy`s pointed words which called into question his honor. He reflected on his actions, in particular those in front of the courthouse. Was I mistaken, m`lord? Pio petitioned Therassor silently.

It wasn`t long before the siblings were approaching the First Thunder River Bridge, nearing the tavern where he hoped Dory would be found. Dear Lady Fate, let Dory be here, was Pio`s prayer to Shinara. Please…

The knight`s thoughts were interrupted by the sudden eruption from the River. The monstrosity that lurched on to the docks awed the knight briefly… the sheer power found in one of those forepaws alone. The creature looked as though it could cause some serious damage.

Pio felt his blood begin to pump faster to his joints and muscles, the excitement of battle lifted his spirits. He released Percy`s arm, looked at her briefly with a smile, `Aim high, okay?`

With that said, the young knight move in to engage the creature.

[OOC: I apologize in advance for the length of this OOC. I am putting down Pio`s combat information in detail. I`m not sure how familiar you are with the Tome of Battle material, Almerin… so here is goes…

Pio randomly gains two of his Crusader maneuvers at the beginning of combat, gaining the remaining ones, one at a time, randomly, at the beginning of his turn each round. On the 6th round, all of his Crusader maneuvers `refresh` and he once again gains two randomly selected maneuvers… repeat process.

If you want to randomly selected these maneuvers, Almerin, that`s cool by me. I rolled for them in this combat round to speed things up.
Pio received ~Charging Minotaur~ and ~Leading the Attack~ in this first round.

Pio will switch his
Draconic Aura from ~Presence~ to ~Power~, granting all allies within 30 ft (including himself) with a +1 bonus to melee damage. This uses up his Swift Action.

Pio is currently in his
~Punishing Stance~ which adds an additional +1d6 to his melee damage, and applies a -2 penalty to his AC.

Pio is moving forward to engage the monster in melee combat. This uses his move action. Drawing his blade while moving is a free action, I believe.

Pio is attacking the monster with his +1 bastard sword, using his Warblade maneuver
~Mountain Hammer~ which, if successful, deals an additional 2d6 damage and automatically overcomes damage reduction and hardness. This uses his standard action.

Final combat numbers:

AC: 19, Touch 9, Flatfooted 19
Attack: +7
Damage: 1d10 +1 (enhancement) +3 (str) +1 (aura) +1d6 (stance) +2d6 (maneuver)
Critical: 19-20/x2

Pio also has his Crusader ability
~Steely Resolve [5]~ which essentially acts as a 5 HP delayed damage pool. If the monster succeeds in attacking Pio, the first 5 points of damage are placed into this delayed damage pool, which Pio takes after his next round.]

Do we roll randomly our starting gold, like as if we were first level characters?

Or do we start out with the standard 2700 gp for 3rd level characters?

I`m going for a wood elf ranger/ scout. Probably Scout 1/ Ranger 2

Also, DM, what do you mean by Troupe Style play... what is that?

I am for attacking it. How about the rest of you?

Subject: Hey, Hey! Verdict's in!

Jozan has put in his edit

Looks like it 3 for looking to find Dory, 2 for the Heart.

Like I said, Pio's for going with the majority, wherever that may lead our party.

Sui, is that true for Percy? I suspect Almerin will be posting the update tomorrow. Any final words? I know you have posted last. Would you like me to put a post of for Pio to the effect that, "Well, looks like the majority thinks we should go look for Dory first. What say you, Percy? Will you submit to the will of the group?" (If you like, you can just include that piece in your post...that way you don't have to wait for me.)

Would that be helpful, or are you content to just leave it in Almerin's hands?

Melina looked at the girl, looked back up at Kacee's apartment, and sighed. Picking up hitchhikers was NOT like her... still, "party girl" seemed harmly enough. And she suspected the girl might actually be pretty even... if she'd just scrub away that make up and put on some decent clothes.

"Sure, hun, get in. I can pick up a coffee there, I suppose."

Melina unlocked the doors and waited for the "party girl" to get in. Once the stranger was in the Jeep, Melina shifted it into drive, the doors automatically locking again. Checking her rearview mirror, Melina caught the flashing lights of the cops again. "Buckle up, honey. Cops are out in full tonight."

Once they got on the road a bit, Melina aske, "So, what's your name, hun?"

[OOC: I figure Melina will make casual conversation with the girl, trade a bit of information, i.e. names, occupations, where you from, what brings you here, etc, etc. We can RP it if you like. If not, by the end of the Jeep ride, Jetta will know Melina's first name, that she works in real estate, she's married with no kids, and grew up in Herkimer.]
