Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign?
Subject: It's a big group...

Touch call, Impulse. I imagine you'll probably lose 1 or 2 players before the game gets started (or soon after it starts). That's just the reality of play by post games here at the Inn. Real life gets in the way.

You'll also probably have 2 or so players who can't posted on any given week. (blast you, Real Life!)

I don't know what your idea is for the "main quest", so it may be challenging to scale it for a large group.

My preferences would be for two smaller groups as this seems to be easier to manage as far as dialogue between characters and npcs, battles, etc (less people making decisions makes for quick game play on PbP). It also allows for players to pick races/classes they want without feeling like they are stepping into other player's character's spotlight.

On the other hand, that does mean nearly twice as much work for you... not sure what kind of time you have available. I know you're playing in Schnozzle's game, not sure if you're in some other ones too.

Anyway, thanks for letting me join, and like I said in my PM, I'm fine with stepping aside too. Maybe this is just a sign that more of us need to step up and DM.

Peace,
Ayrn

I think the Goliath can almost be used "as is", except I would change their cold/mountain acclimatization to heat/desert.

Sorry, I didn't actually read through the material found in my link above. Now that I have, I would agree with you... seems a bit more 3.5 based than 5e.

Sorry 'bout that.

I'm fine with the crew of 4 heading over to the Superstore to pick up a disposable Cred Card and then taking the public transit up to Bartholomew.

If Blossom wanted to pick up a disposable card with $100 on it, it would cost her $110?

I'm game for that.

Blossom will make a search for the nearest Superstore from their present location.

Nimu, you might want to consider the Warlock class with the Archfey patron.

You don't get a lot of spells or spell slots, but the spell slots refresh after a short rest. Additionally, the class gives you a number of Invocations (basically spell-like abilities) as you advance, along with some other cool class features.

Not sure if you'll see Red Sector's request on the recruitment thread. Thought I'd highlight it here as well.

Perhaps Red could take over Echo, or we could retcon in a different character. (Perhaps someone with a Cred/SIN card?!)

Subject: Hmmm...

Well, are we able to pick up a SIN/Cred Card with our cash on hand... preferably something like a pre-paid, disposable VISA/ MasterCard? If yes, what is the cost to pick one up and where can we do that?

If not, that does make Fixer a rather valuable person, doesn't it. I would hate for the crew to get stranded along the way to Bartholomew or run into trouble at the school and have no way to pull out. :-/

Brom,

When you have listed in the transport section that some of the transportation option can be prepaid or use a SIN /Credit chip, does that mean we also have the option to use cash to purchase tickets/tokens from somewhere?

Also, does anyone beyond Vesper's character have a SIN/Cred card/chip?

Thanks!

Subject: That's fine with me

My concern is that Brom might need to NPC Blossom and it feels like she might have a big role to play in the school run.

Beyond that, personally, I think we'll need at least 5 of us at the school if we're trying to get past security, someone to provide overwatch, and the rest to push inside.

Subject: Also...

Brom, no harm, no foul in writing that little share moment for Blossom. You can assume that she'll be passing on pretty much anything she finds on the Data Pools and Dark Web with the rest of the crew, either verbally or by way of forwarding it on to their agents.

Things like the basic campus map I imagine her taking a screen grab and sending the pic to the others. Most of the rest of the info, I imagine her summarizing quick in some type of Word file and forwarding it on (things like the name of the Principal, who owns the school, who's providing security, numbers about how many kids stay on campus and how many attend the school, etc).

On that note, Blossom will also be doing a deep data pool search into the Principal of Bartholomew, who seems to share the same name as the majority stakeholder in the school. If the two people are different, she'll be doing some searching on both. In particular, if the principal's pic is online, she be taking a screen grab of it. She'll run the name and image against popular social media sites. She'll also try to search and see if the name(s) are connecting to any other holdings (what else is she invested in?).

Beyond that, I'd like Blossom to make a search of the typical Edgerunner sites/forums for an offer on "hitting a school in High City" and "quick cash for kid nab at Bartholomew". I don't expect fixers and runners to be so sloppy, but you never know.

Sorry, I know it's a lot of checks, and I'm not certain yet how long these things take, but I'm fine if they are searches they she works on well we are travelling.

Hey All,

I've caught some kind of flu virus, and I don't want to hold up the group play. I'm thinking Blossom will just change her mind and suggest going to the Rat Pack with the rest of the crew.

Subject: Yeah, well...

"If you think you can handle yourselves solo," Blossom said as she looked from Vegas to Casino. "And it looks like you do, then I'd like to pass on the dancing and make a run out to Bartholomew with the rest of the crew."

Blossom took the rest of the crew in. She already counting on Echo coming with her, but she figured she should ask the other runners. "You joy-boys up for a run at the school? Or would you rather dancing and romancing with Blue Eyes?"

OOC: Brom, Blossom would also like to make of search of common social media sites popular with kids, using "Jase" and his image to try and find Jase's profile.

Topic: Flesh & Blood - A Night City Adventure
Subject: Alright, meatheads!

While the joy-boys worked out their testosterone, Blossom busied herself with some initial searches of the Data Pool. She knew she's need to get on Bartholomew's physical campus in order to get some reliable information, but this might be a start, and the boys seemed to just be getting warmed up.

"Bartholomew School for Advanced Studies, homepage, search" Blossom spoke the command to her agent.

OOC: Looking to find information (via Library Search) from Bartholomew's "official" homepage, gaining initial info on: the names of the administrators, teachers and staff; what type of safety the school offers to the students (like do they have weapon detectors, private security force on campus, etc); what corporation(s) financially fund the school; pictures of the school campus, maps of the campus, etc; who are some prominent alumni of the school.

Not sure how much time Blossom needs to scan through and commit the information to memory, but she will also be looking to complete the following searches as well:

- "Jase" "Bartholomew School for Advanced Studies" "Missing" (done on both the normal and dark web)
- "Bartholomew School for Advanced Studies" "High City" "Schematics"
- "Bartholomew School for Advanced Studies" "High City" "News"
- "Bartholomew School for Advanced Studies" "High City" "Successful Run Against" (this would be done on the equivalent of the Dark Web)
- image search on "Jase"'s picture (both normal and dark web)

If Blossom can't make all these search while the boys are busy with their squabbling, she take them to go and make the searches along the way. She'll be looking to pass on any info, especially photos of the campus, info about security to the other players here in the room.

IC: As the boys seemed to set in on a plan, Blossom looked up from her agent. "Echo, what did we land ourselves in here?" she sighed. Looking at Vegas, "Sure you can't just call your contact and save us all the trip, Blue Eyes? I like dancing as much as any girl, but this job's going to require me to get on Bartholomew campus if I hope to crack Jase's school record and maybe see if they got some video of this kid just 'disappearing'. The night's young and I'd rather hit the campus when the kiddos aren't in school."

"Maybe we can do both though? I mean, Vegas, you and your friend here could hit the club and connect with your contact, while the rest of us hit Bartholomew?"

OOC: In an effort to speed up game play, if the crew is agreeable to Blossom's idea, awesome. If not, Blossom will be agreeable to go to the Rat Pack first.

Subject: BROM, questions!

Hey Brom,

1) My understanding is that Blossom can do some "library searching" and info gathering through the data pool while they are moving, yes?

2) My understanding is if Blossom would like to hack into the school's student records or video tape feed, she would need to actually get onto the school campus and either hack in through a hard point or through the school wifi network, yes?

3) How do you feel about the group splitting up? I was thinking maybe Vegas could go to the Rat Pack and meet his contact with a couple people, and the rest heads out to the school to help break in and cover Blossom as she hacks into the system?

"Cowgirl got a name?" The suited solo casually asked.

"Well, ain't that snaaks," Starlight impulsively grinned as she used the Afrikaans word for funny. Dropping back into her chair once again she ignored the protesting squeak of the metal legs as they scooted slightly on the nu-concrete floor and shook her head slightly. "I do this all the time. You chombattas don't know each other from Adam, and here I go off expecting you all to just be chummy.

"Let's play the Get-t'-Know-You game so we can get on with business."

"My Handle is Vegas. This here's Casino."

"Handle's Bloodbank," Bloodbank said with a small smile. He was in a better mood than he had been for quite a while now. "I'm here to ensure that none of you die too quickly. I'd certainly appreciate it, though, if you made my job easy and just refrained from getting shot."

"Sounds good to me." Blossom says, acknowledging Bloodbank's request. She unwraps a lollipop and proceeds to suck on the candy, as she eyes the men around the room. "You go-boys look like you know how to handle your heat, though, so hopefully this will be easy cake for us."

Taking the sucker out of her mouth for a moment, she introduces herself simple, "Blossom."

"You've a couple of other edgerunners who are running a bit late, but will be joining you shortly," Starlight informed everyone when the introductions were through. "As a matter-of-fact, one of them just arrived."
,

"Team," Starlight intoned with a slight derisive tone. "Meet Mathis."
Blossom looks the man over. "Glad you could join the party, choomba."
,

Satisfied that Starlight would offer no further enlightenment to his or anyone else's questions, Vegas turned to address the group. Turning to Blossom he asks, "You got a special place where you can tap into to locate the information we need for the package delivery?"

Vegas pats the pistol secured in his shoulder holster and tips his fedora to Blossom with a smile and adds, "The rest of us can set up shop where you think is best... where we can cover you... to make sure no one disturbs your research... so to speak." Turning to the others he adds, "That is... unless any of you have a better idea... or plan of action... for securing the delivery of the package?"

"Nah, friend. We do this on the fly, man. I'm thinking paying a visit to Bartholomew might be a first stop of us. By the time we get there, I'll have sifted the Pool and we'll see what floats to the top. Make a plan along the way." Blossom gave Vegas a wide smile as she continued, "Once we get to the school, depending on how we flow, I might need you to play with your pearly piece." She gives him a wink.

The door swings open once again and the Gray Samurai steps aside long enough to allow a pale little woman to slip through the door.
,

"Well," Starlight quips. "It's about time. This is the last of your team—This is Echo."

When the young woman steps in, Blossom actually gets up and goes in to give Echo a hug. "Yay! Glad you could make it, sweetie! You had me thinking I was going to be running with these go-boys solo." Looking around the room with her arm still draped around Echo's shoulder, she made introduction. "Echo, meet the fellas. You got the high-rollers over there, Vegas and Casino. Hard to miss them. Ripdoc Bloodbank here to help keep your heart fluttering. Mathis over there, he just made it here too, so don't you worry a bit. And then there's this guy, " Nodding at Ghlahn. "I don't know his name yet. You haven't even said you name yet." Looking back at Echo, "He hasn't been introduced yet. See, you're right on time. We're just getting started. Hi, Echo! I'm Blossom! Glad you're coming along for the ride."

"Now that you're all here and getting along, I'll be taking my leave. The night is young, and there's work to be done. You've my contact info if you need to reach me, chombattas. Upload your status on the hour, every hour, and keep me informed so that I can keep Saint Nick in the loop. Au revoir, my pretties."

"Got it. Thanks." Blossom says, acknowledging Starlight's request as the fixer leaves.

Ghlahn waited for the door to close before saying, "Alright, let's establish a chain of command, some combat roles, and some non combat roles. I'll take second in command, overwatch, and 'stand by and looking ravishing' respectively, as I'm a good leader but not quite that good, a damn hot sniper, and a damn hot sniper." His smirk widens slightly and he waits for responses. While he does so, he loads his sniper rifle and chambers a round without looking at it.

Blossom rolled her eyes as Ghlahn started loading gun and talking about establishing chains of command. "Slick." Turning back to Echo, "See, Echo?! This is why I'm glad you're here to run this with me!"

Addressing Ghlahn again, she says lightly, "Silly joy-boy. Everyone knows girls rule the world."

"Seriously though, you want to play second-to-one, that's fine with me. I'm running the net for this gig, feeding your brains with as much info as you can handle and looking to get us clearance when we need it. Unless you chombattas got a better plan, I say we follow Starlight's lead and make bank. Jace ain't likely to walk in the door, so I say we start with the school and see if we can pick up this little bunny's trail. That pass for you, boys?"

When using skills, it usually is:

Skill Level + Associated Stat +1d10.

So, let's say I had a REFLEX of 9, and a Handgun skill level of 4, I'd be looking at 4+9+1d10 when using the skill.

In addition, sometimes you might have some other modifiers from perks, talents, equipment or cyberwear that might be added in as well. (for instance, if you had a smartgun, you would add another +2.)

You got it.... with this note:

Stats are bought on a 1 to 1 basis.
Perks cost their listed price
Talents cost 3 CP each
And skills grow in cost

SKILL LEVEL = COST

Level 1 = 1 CP
Level 2 = 3 CP
Level 3 = 6 CP
Level 4 = 10 CP
Level 5 = 15 CP
Level 6 = 21 CP

So, Vesper and Oxxia, I can at least help you get started in generating a character. Send me a private message or email me at [email protected].

I would say that this version of Cyberpunk (as beginners at least) makes it pretty easy to build characters that can be a bit flexible.

So, let me know what you'd like to play and I'll sent you some questions to go from there.

Brom, I'll probably send them to you to get equipped.

Peace,
Ayrn
