Subject: Just got back

Just got back from another work trip. Will need a couple of days to catch up with the family. Hope to be posting on Wednesday.

For now, I think it's safe to assume the Blossom will be looking to try and crack through the door, stealthy like.

It was the long weekend over here and I didn't have my mind of the game or the game on my mind.

I have posted.

Blossom felt the pain in her tailbone subside and poured on the speed. The Sec Team behind her was becoming a distant memory as she began to prep herself for the door ahead. Maybe things could go smooth on this one?!

Subject: Impressive

Blossom winced a little as she hobbled forward, leaning heavily on Bloodbank. She spared a look back to see how her pet was faring. Impressive, she smiled. She didn't use the program much... the cost was a bit prohibitive. Yet, each time she brought that dog online, it performed better than spec.

Stay focused, Chica! she chided, bringing herself back to the present. Still a long ways to go and no telling what's ahead.

OOC: Blossom is continuing her movement forward as quick as she can without injuring herself.

Hehe... Well, my assumption is that Blossom jumped down into the tracks, but then Giddy posted that Bloodbank was looking to stop her due to train action. I wasn't sure how you were going to work that out, but just wanted to say I'm fine with Blossom being down on the tracks like I posted, but I'm also fine with Blossom's action being interrupted by Bloodbank's action to stop her.

Anyway, my understanding is that we've had 2 combat rounds since Blossom fell off the train, which means she's recovered 6 stun points of damage (3/round if moving). And it looking like there is about 80 - 90 meters to go before we get to the access door.

If Blossom still has one more stun damage point to recover, she'll just be running the 14 m she's allowed (unless she is allowed a double move action because she's not doing anything but running.)

If I'm wrong and we've done more than 3 combat phases, and she's recovered all her stun points, Blossom will be sprinting for 21 m (or 42 m if your allowed a double move when taking no other action).

Basically, she's looking to haul @$$ until she reaches the access tunnel.

OOC: I'm not sure if I'm allowed to change my actions from last round or this round, but I just wanted to say I'm fine with NOT jumping down into the tracks. Either way, I'll let you sort that out Brom.

Hey Brom and fellow players,

Just a heads up that I will be gone from July 8 - 18. I hope to post once more this week, but will miss the July 11 update for sure.

While she felt naked without her nanodust, Blossom also felt relieved to have the heavy bag off her shoulder. Still moving gingerly, the netrunner tried to pick up her pace, looking to put move space between her and the sec team. The impact of her feet hitting the concrete still sent pain running up her spine.

"Sixty meters and I might need that bag back, Echo!" Blossom called out. "Don't be too far behind."

OOC: Blossom is moving as fast as she can without injuring herself more.

Brom,
How close are we to the maintenance tunnel access? Is it still about 60 meters away (or 6 combat rounds)?
Thanks!

Subject: Hold On

"Give me a sec," Blossom grunted. Pulling the satchel of nanodust off her shoulder, she dumped out about five kilos of the powder and pulled out one of her mindcores. "Want to leave these guys a present,"

Programming the core quickly, she brought Hellhound online and released the mindcore into the dust. "That should distract them for a bit,"

She hands the satchel to Echo, and slips down onto the tracks.

OOC: So, Blossom is looking to unlease a Hellhound. I hope I understand the rules here and the program is able to attack the Sec Team.

Also, I just noticed this, but how and why is Blossom carrying 100 Kg of nanodust? That would have cost $10000 and would weigh 220 lbs. Should it read "10 kg"? She only needs 1 kg of dust for every 20 Structure Points of the program. Because she only has 4 mindcores and the dust is typically reusable, I would think 10-20 kg would be plenty. Is the 100 kg a typo, Brom?

Shooting the public would just give them one more reason to kill us outright, no questions asked.

I'm for jumping down to the tracks. I'll be posting tomorrow night. Blossom will need to drop some of this weight.

Brom, two questions:

1) Can Blossom use her stealth program to hide the team, or just herself?

2) Does she have a program (beyond the glue one) that can actually target the SecForce? (Sorry, I don't have my character sheet handy.)

Thanks!

Hey Brom,
Thanks for the PM.

A few questions:

1) Are there any other player characters with me in the subway, or are the rest NPCS at the moment?

2) Is there anything I can do to make it more difficult for the security forces to come through that gate to buy us some time? Maybe like hacking the system and taking control of the passcode? Or are they just likely to blow their way through the gate?

3) Do I have a program that I could set up to "guard" the gate, that would attack the security detail as soon as they breach the gate?

4) I might have some difficulty posting before Monday. My weekend is getting crammed with family stuff.

Peace,
Ayrn

Subject: Dice gods hate netrunners

As Blossom exited the train, she casually mingled into the crowd of people on the platform, weaving her way through towards the maintenance gate in a way that she hoped wouldn't catch the attention of security. The smell here was slightly better than the undercity, and the air was noticeably less oppressive.

Arriving at the gate, she tried to discreetly remove the panel. Her mind was out-of-focused though, and she fumbled with getting set up drive the lock. Akira! she could hear her mom's voice for a moment. High City air always trigger memories of her past.

The wardriver rolled her head trying to shake off the ghosts of her past. "Stay here, Akira!" she scolded herself softly. "Time to work."

She attached the trodes the hardpoint on the access panel and prepared to drive in hard. Wiz was loading up and she was ready to go. Rolling the lollipop around in her mouth one more time, she whispered, "Let's see whatcha g,"

Access denied, Error 5431. pinged in her ears and flashed before eyes. "Wai, wha,?" Blossom wondered quietly, the lollipop rolled around once more as she send in Wiz for another round.

Access denied, Error 5431, pinged again. Blossom ran the error code through her agent.

Error 5431 indicates that the hard point connection is loose or damaged. Retry connecting or repair the hard point. Blossom looked down at her trodes and tried to get a better connection.

Access denied, Error 5431, pinged again. Exploring the hard point access a bit more, Blossom discovered that one port wasn't allowing the trode to catch.

Frack!!! The wardriver cursed under her breath. Quickly, she recalled Wiz, retrieved her trodes, and fixed the panel up once more. Turning around, she found Bloodbank and Ghlahn approaching.

As the four gathered together under the flashing red alarm light, Blossom shook her head and tried to speak as quietly as she could while still communicating to her companions over the sound of the alarm. "It's no good. The hard point's damaged here. Time to think quick, gatos!"

Looking around, Blossom tried to quickly assess the situation. "Here's the deal: We're not getting past the security with our guns unless we got the docs to go with them. So, call it off and go home empty; OR go with Ghlahn's plan, ride the top to the other side of the gate, drop down and move on."

"I hate myself already, but I'm for trying Ghlahn's plan. I hate going home empty."

Hey Impulse,

Glad you're back. Hope it was AWESOME!

Two questions:

1) What do you have in so far?

2) Do we have a working amount of coin to start off with to equip our characters, or do we just have the level 1 starting gear?

Peace,

"What about those cameras," Echo asked, looking to Blossom for some thoughts.

"Not sure, really," Blossom turned the sucker around in her mouth with her tongue. "I'm not going to be able to hack in, so we're going to need to do it old school. Maybe we can use a flashlight or laser light to blind the ones near the can? What do you guys think? I've got a flashlight someone can borrow."

Blossom rummaged through her pockets and pulled out a sucker as she tried to think straight. Her companions where firing ideas passed at lightning speed, but none of them were clicking.

"We could start one of the garbage cans on fire as a distraction," Echo piped up.

Blossom smiled, "Yeah, that should work." Looking over at Bloodbank to confirm, she asked, "Whatdaya say, you up for playing arsonist? I'm thinking you set the fire, Bloodbank. Ghlahn will cover you if you run into trouble. Echo will stay close to me and watch my back while I'm driving in through the lock."

"Let do this."

OOC: Sorry, our net access was down during the week, and I was gone for the weekend.

Subject: So, a couple more questions....

One, can Blossom hack the train from inside the train and stir up some trouble?

Two, how can Blossom hack into the tracks or signage? Where would she need to be to do that?

Three, are the locks on the maintenance tunnels likely electronic or mechanical... or do we need to go inspect them first?

Fourth, how much security and surveillance is there on the train?

Five, if we wanted to ask Starlight for some paperwork for the weapons, would that be done electronically?

Sorry that I'm having such a hard time with this... netrunning/wardriving is harder than I thought. :-/

Sorry, guys, busy family weekend with Mother's Day and a couple birthday and guests from out of town.

I'll have something up tomorrow, though I don't have a lot of ideas.

Giddy, Blossom is not able to hack one of the mechas or cause a distraction as suggested. Though I do like the maintenance tunnel route.

Hey, is Giddy still around? I need an extra brain to figure out what to do next?

Do we try to avoid the checkpoint? I think we're going to at least need to figure out a way to get our guns past the checkpoint... Blossom would rather not have to spend more NCDs to bribe them. Maybe she can just sweet talk her way through with a smile?

Thoughts (from anyone)? Am I allowed to ask for advice from around the virtual table?

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign?
Subject: 4e Campaign Setting Book

Have you read through this, Impulse? The fluff text for the setting is awesome and it has lots of plot teasers for specific ruins around each of the city-states.

Some really cool character ideas too... like the Jazst Dancers (acrobatic gladiators that mix drama, comedy and combat together); and silt skimmer sailors and pirates; and feral halfling headhunters; and desert raiding sand elves; and the Veiled Alliance (a secret society of arcane magic-users who refuse to defile the land).

So many good ideas! And it definitely is helping me understand some of the real dangers of travelling in this wasteland (like drowning in SILT!).

Thanks for clarifying the God-King part... I was wondering if it was a Sorcerer-King or something else. Outside of worshipping the Sorcerer-Kings/Queens, Athas seems barren of any true gods, seems more focused on "primal powers", maybe a little like the faerie/fey court, but even more so on powerful elemental creatures that seem locked/bound to specific places in Athas.

If you want my suggestion for a city-state to start in, I'd say either:

1) Tyr (the city-state), if it is like how it is described in the $e book, where the sorcerer-king has actually been betrayed and killed by one of his templars.

2) Balic... the place seems like a real hub of activity, and it has a couple of cool ancient ruins which might be interesting.

3) Nibenay... again, lots of potential in this place... plus it's sort of close to all sorts of neat villages and ruins. Could be fun!

Just throwing it out there.

Subject: Obvious ways around?

Brom,

Are there any obvious ways around the security checkpoints, i.e. find a different way out of the subway tunnel? Find another street to avoid the checkpoint?

Are there any other ways to avoid personally interacting with the security personnel while getting through the checkpoint?

What would we need to pass through the checkpoints (prior to the school) with flying colours? Lose the guns (or at least have licences to carry them)? Proof of residence or employment in the area?

Sorry the peppering of questions?
Ayrn

Will they be stopping anyone who doesn't live/work in the immediate area? Or will they be checking our firearms?

Topic: Flesh & Blood - A CyberPunk Game
Subject: So... checkpoints... Help, GIDDY!

So, when Echo asks about getting past checkpoints, is she talking about the specific checkpoints at the school, or more general checkpoints of being in this area of High City?

My understanding is that there are bio-monitoring devices as play in the area that don't necessarily hinder our movement, but are keeping tabs on us (like more sophisticated version of video surveillance that can be found in cities like London presently). Is that about right? Is there a way to defeat/hack these systems? Or a way to mask our presence?

Or are we likely to set off alarm bells just for being in the area and whatever local security force in the area is going to stop (and maybe question us) just for walking the neighbourhood?

With regards to school, my thought was to either take a walk past the building to get a sense of what we're up against or maybe find some building nearby that could give us a good view of the school and grounds?

Giddy, you have some thoughts about how we might tackle this?
