Tann's mom!?! For real?!?

>>Picks up the clutter quickly<<

Welcome! Welcome! So nice to meet you, ma'am!

Come in, come in! >>shows Eve around to a nice plush couch<<

Well, I'm not sure how to edit your user name, but I'm sure one of the Administrator will be around by Monday and they will likely know what to do.

I'm still stunned that you're Tann's mom! Wow!

Doesn't fighting with an armored fist (i.e. with gauntlets on) count as regular damage? (like attacking someone with brass knuckles)

Topic: Filthy Thief Q/A
Subject: Not much time this week...

I'm a bit behind schedule this week with baby and work and such. Blar to work, yea for baby.

I'm not sure if I should post yet anyway. Almerin, do you want to resolve Sib's and Sui's actions first?

If you are looking to update all around and you need a declared action from me... Pio will drop his sword and shield (VERY SAD about that, he is) and will attempt strike the cat with his gauntleted fist.

Common sense tells me that, with the low swim rank and the ton of armor Pio's wearing, I'm in a world of trouble. Will I need to be peeling off said armor before I can even attempt to surface? My thinking is Pio's only hope for survival is to kill or scare off the beast, because if he just breaks free and tries to swim away, that cat is going to be on him so fast again. Can I actually make a strike against the beast with my armored fist, while being grappled? I'm not very familiar with grappling rules.

My hope is to strike him with my armored fist, and using ~Crusader's Strike~ along with my ~Martial Spirit Stance~ and my ~Power~ aura.

Combat stats:

AC: 19 (without the shield), 11 touch, 19 flatfooted
Attack: +6 = 3 (base) +3 (Str)
Damage: 1d4 (gauntlet) +3 (Str) +1 (aura)

If he hits, he also gains 1d6+4 hit points back from Martial Spirit stance and Crusader's Strike.

If Pio can't actually make an attack while being grappled, well, than I guess, he'll grpple back?!

Is it possible for Pio, realizing that he is being grappled, to drop his sword on the docks before being pulled into the water?

Topic: Filthy Thief Q/A
Subject: Now this...

is what I call High Adventure! wOOt!

Nice post, Almerin! Was not expecting to be dragged into the water. eep! Pio is in some serious trouble!

Three questions, one plea, and one aside.

Question #1: Is the water immediately off the fairly deep? Does Pio roughly know the depth? (either he can just tell, or perhaps a Knowledge [local] check, or something)

Question #2: Is the water flowing fairly fast? Are Pio and the monster steadly moving "down stream" while grappling?

Question #3: Just how big is this creature? As far as game mechanics are concerned, does the beast classify in the medium, large, or huge size category? (I'm hoping it ain't any bigger than huge!)

Plea to the rest of the players: HELP!

Aside: The Book of the Nine Swords is GREAT! It actually allows fighters to keep up with the magic users at higher levels and gives them more flexibility so they are not just one trick ponies. I will admit, it takes a bit to get the mechanics... and Pio has ALOT of class abilities too because he's multiclassed all over the place, so he's got auras and stances and maneuvers and class abilities. But really, a straight wizard (or sorcerer) could have caused just about as much damage as Pio did, but with the added bonus of doing it from a distances and with nearly automatic hits. (Magic Missile, for instance). Anyway, Almerin, I'm glad you've fallen in love with Bot9S!

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!!
Subject: Let's take this beasty down!

“Arrgh!” Pio sounded out as his blade cut through the creature’s thick scales with righteous power. The blood lust was in the man’s eyes and pounded in his ears. This was Pio’s call --- standing toe to toe with the beast.

Pio could see that the beast was about to retaliate, and attempted to dodge the blow. The slick wood hindered him, however, and the knight took the full brunt of the creature’s fury. The sharp nails dug deep into his face, releasing spray of blood. His nervous system attempted to overload his brain with “pain”, but the knight’s visage merely became more grim and determined as his faced the beast once again. Years of training and practice took over as Pio moved through the fluid motions of his next strike.

[OCC: Alright, here the breakdown for Pio.

Last round, Pio took 10 points of damage for the Sea Lion:
5 points went into his delayed damage pool ( the crusader class ability called “Steely Resolve [5]” ) and 5 points were taken off from his regular hit points. That means that Pio’s current hit points should actually be 40 (not 35). After Pio’s turn, this round, if he (or someone else) doesn’t “heal” the damage in his delayed damage pool, he will take those 5 points of damage as well. The delayed damage pool then resets itself back to zero. If the Sea Lion strikes Pio before his turn, he’ll take all that damage as well. If the Sea Lion strikes Pio after his turn, but before Pio’s next turn, Pio will again put 5 points of damage into his delayed damage pool.

Steely Resolve [5] goes hand in hand with Pio’s other crusader class ability, Furious Counterstrike. If Pio has 1 – 5 points in his delayed damage pool, he gains a +1 untyped bonus to his attacks and damage.

Pio’s randomly gained Crusader maneuver this round is
~Stones Bones~ .

Pio is currently projecting his draconic aura
~Power~. He will continue to do so. This granted ALL allies within 30 ft (including himself) a +1 untyped bonus to melee damage.

Pio is switching his martial stance from
~Punishing Stance~ to ~Martial Spirit~. This stance allows Pio to heal any ally within 30 ft (including himself) of 2 points of damage each time he makes a successful melee attack. This also removes the -2 penalty to Pio’s AC. Switching stances uses up Pio’s swift action.

Pio is still attacking with his bastard sword and is using his Crusader maneuver
~Stone Bones~. If Pio successfully strikes the Sea Lion, he gains a damage reduction of 5/adamanite until the beginning of his next turn.

Final numbers:

AC: 21, Touch: 11, Flat-Footed: 21
Attack: +8 = +3 (base) +3 (str) +1 (furious counterstrike) +1 (magical enhancement)
Damage: 1d10 +1 (enhancement) +3 (str) +1 (furious counterstrike)
Critical: 19-20/x2

Additional Notes:
1)If Pio hits, he will heal himself of two points of damage. [Martial Spirit stance]
2)If Pio hits, he will gain a damage reduction of 5/adamanite until the beginning of his next turn [Stone Bones maneuver]
3)At the end of Pio’s turn, he will take the 5 points of damage from his damage pool. Which then resets to zero again. [Steely Resolve ability]

Hope that made sense!

Subject: Not sure how far I should go?

Would you hurry up! Melina screamed in her head at the old man. When the man went to pay with the change he had pulled from the couch, well, that just about did the housewife in. She fumbled in her purse for a five to just pay for the man. Lifting her face, Melina tried to get the cashier’s attention….

The boy was making eye contact, but not with her eyes. If it weren’t for the fact that Melina was worried about Angie, she may have been tempted to toy with the boy a bit. Instead, when she caught the boy oogling her again, she ran her finger seductively down her cleavage line, interrupting the movement by using the same finger to make a deliberate “pointing” action to her face.

By this time the old man had broken out the piggy bank and paid for his order with exact change. As the man sided aside, Melina moved in with her cool, unimpressed look.

“May I help you?” asked the boy.

“Two medium, double-doubles, and a raspberry-bran muffin. To go.”

[OOC: Not sure how far you want me to move Melina... but her intent is to get her order, bang the kid ( in his dreams )... get her order, pay, head out for Angie. If you're trying to keep us together, you can have Melina have to go to the little girl's room to tinkle, to use up some time.]

I`m fond of the motto I was saw on a pregnant woman`s shirt:

"Birth Control Is For Sissies!"

Four kids has actually been a really good time... tough to say how five will be. Bad time to ask now, too, what with feeds every three hours and nasty tar-poo. (Sorry, folks.)

I`m sure it will likely be "really good time +1."

Subject: Greetings indeed!

Welcome to the Inn, Szordrin and Whitinator!!

You`ll find that you are amongst good company. A goodly number of us are married with kids... I`m guessing you and I are roughly the same age (31 for me), and I`ve got ya beat of the kids part! (Actually, I have most folks beat on the kids part. Haha!) Number 5 just came today! Mine kids are ages 7 y/o, 5 y/o, 3 y/o, 1.5 y/o, and 16 hours old. (Almerin would have you believe I`m building my own army, but pay no attention to that!)

And you are correct! Play-by-post is a great and flexible way to continue gaming while managing a young family. While games tend to be slower paced than table-top, in most of the games here, you will find the depth of the story richer. At least that is my experience.

We hope you both enjoy your stay!

Thanks, folks, for the well wishes! Very Kind.

We had a girl. 6 lbs even. Very pretty with a cutie button nose. Her name is Tamara Lynne.

Like I said in another thread, that brings our kid-point total to BOYS ~ 3, GIRLS ~ 2.

Needless to say, our 3 y.o. daughter is pumped to the max about this new development.

Anyway... thanks again for the well wishes! ... I`ll see about getting a photo up. Give me a day or two. (or week )
