Lady Kali: You have 5 kids as well? Hmmm... here I thought I held the title!

>>Calls out to the Livingroom<< Get yourself ready, sweetheart. It's baby-making time!

Grrr, here I thought 5 would be enough to scare off the rest. Apparently I was mistaken.

Yay! Bu-bye kitty!

Hmmm... think we could make a nice rug from his skin?

Anyway, unless y'all have strong objections... I'd like to open the blast doors and get the Embassador.

Objections?

Subject: So...

I laid out some suggestions on what to do next IC.

Personally, I like the following idea:

Treasure hunting! Let's see if we can find this wizard's tower and pillage it! WAY easier than solving this village's problems. Plus, maybe we'll find clues along the way to this greater mystery.

Otherwise, back into town, I suppose. See if someone will connect with us.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS FOR THE DM:

1) Does the Abbot know where we can find information concerning this mystery diety that the witch worshipped?

2) Is there a map available that shows any the geography off the coast? i.e. nearby islands and such?

3) How close are the nearest settlements/ villages/ towns from this village?

Think that is it for now.

Driscoll listened to his syl-blooded companions as they began to analyze the information, adding his agreement.

"Right! Askin' th' Abbot a question or two 'bout this mystery diety seems right t' me," the swashbuckler nodded. "Seems a bit surprisin' that th' recorder of th' story didn't know considerin' how close we be to the sea."

"If th' Abbot don't know, perhaps he can atleast point us t' th' right direction, right."

Driscoll was a man of action and, while finding out some more information would be useful, he felt worried him and his companions might get buried under all these tomes.

"But let's say th' Abbot don't know nothin' more," he thought out loud. "What next?"

"I'll tell you one thing sure: We go back int' town and we're gonna need t' change our approach for sure, right? Th' village people want nothin t' do with our heroics. I don't think tryin' to convince them otherwise is gonna do us 'lot o' good, hmmm."

"So, here's some option, as I see them. One, visit th' village folks again. Th' tribute time is over, right. Maybe they'll be a bit warmer t' us now.

"Two, pay the druid a visit 'gain. Not sure what we'd ask him yet. Maybe, ask him about this unknown god, hmmm. Or for his perspective 'bout th' mystery woman, or th' village feud, or th' wizard and his tower, or why th' village has been wastin' away. I'm sure he's been 'round long enough t' see it all.

"Three, see if we can find out more 'bout this magicked sword business. I'm always up for a treasure hunt, right

Four, we scout 'round in th' wilderness a bit. See what comes of it. Bit aimless, if you ask me, hmmm.

"Five, leave this village behind us. We ain't owin' them anythin' and they ain't wantin' nothin' from us. We could just carry on t' th' next town and see what comes of it, right."

"So, what say the rest of you? Where to next?"

So, let's use the FP to increase the likelihood of the Force Slam being successful.

With swift movements, Benjamin swings his doublebladed lightsaber to cut Darth Malis' knee and gut. But just after he cuts Malis' knee, the big cat's paw pushes Benjamin to the ground. From down there, the Jedi was not entirely sure if he could block the Sith's next attack.

With Benjamin fallen onto the floor, Darth Malis sees his opportunity. "Perhaps you're not as good as you think, Jedi," he says tauntingly as his brings down his lightsaber upon Benjamin. But Benjamin manages to block the saber with his own, but only so barely.

From his prone position, Benjamin counted himself fortunate that he was not currently spiked on the Sith's blade. Waiting for the Cat to finally relent again, the Jedi's bent his mind to unlease the power of the force against his oppenent, hoping to even the battlefield.

Timing, the voice of his master echoed in his mind, is everything in the midst of the duel. Wait for the moment of least resistance.

This was the moment. The Sith, now towering at full height and puffed up by his seeming advantage, would not conceive of his falling now. As the Cat brought back his blade again, Benjamin slammed the Force into the Sith looking to bring him down.

As he did, the Jedi's body kipped up, bringing his lightsaber around in front of him, ready to take advantage of the Sith's surprise.

[OOC: Alright... Using "Force Slam" (standard action) with an addition force point to increase the damage dealt; and using my move action to stand up from prone. Not sure, but does the Cat get an AoO on Benjamin for using a force power? I'm hoping not... my hope is that the Force Slam knocks the Sith prone, and then Benjamin stands up. I also don't recall if we can use force points to increase the likelihood of a skill check succeeding. If you can, I use one on Ben's Use the Force check for the force slam.]

Subject: Regarding no post from me yet

Just wanted to say that the no post yet is not an indication of no interest.

While the information we've uncovered is interesting, I'm still trying to think it through and, even more so, determine where I think we should go next.

See, this is what I like about your games, Almerin... they're complex (ish) and leave a lot of room for us as players to move.

Anyway, I'm also quite busy until after Easter, so I probably won't be posting this week.

TO THE OTHER PLAYERS: Some thoughts --

1) Wow! This village has a lot of hurt that needs some real healing! It may be good to set up residence in the village and see if we can observe some of the interpersonal relationships between the villagers (who loves who, who hates who?)

2) The reptile-men -- perhaps really just men cursed and bound to this form of "reptile-hybreds"? I'm thinking maybe by/because of the mystery woman the people burned as a witch at 150 ER (around that time, anyway) . It fits with the fact that the raids on the village have been happening for the oast 300 years.

What are soime of your thoughts?

Benjamin tried to keep his face expressions calm and serene inspite of the Sith's baiting words. I will not respond with empty boasts, but with action.

Taking the full force of the Togorian's lightsaber against his own, the Jedi moved with fluidity. His body arced back while his knees relaxed to absorb the shock of the oversized cat's blow.

Wait for him to pull back.

The moment came sure enough -- the Togorian, realizing his blow would not strike, pulled away for another. With blinding speed, Benjamin's knees pumped up, while he swung the left end of his lightsaber to connect with the Togorian's right knee. A quick reverse action looked to bring the right end across the Sith's gut.

The attack was quick and before the Cat could rain down another heavy blow, Benjamin's lightsaber was positioned to block once again.

[OOC: Full attack with both ends of the lightsaber, while looking to block his attack(s) as well]

Not sure if you included it with the last round of combat, but Benjamin also has the class feature "block" (similar to deflect... basicly negates melee attacks using a Use the Force check).

Anyway, if I fail to include it in my in-post OOCs, please assume that Ben is at least attempting to block and deflect incoming attacks.

I hope to post tonight too.

Rera: Hey, feel free to have Kate come in and tag team the kitty-cat with Ben. He won't mind one bit!

Skari:

1) Benjamin is looking to end up in one of the two squares directly "above" the Sith, the "left" one.

2) Ben lightsaber damage is 2d8 (standard for lightsaber), +10 (BAB, see top of pg 38 in the Corebook), +1 (STR bonus) which equals 2d8+11.

Benjamin felt his body noticably relax as he felt the power of the Force gather around him. He knew the towering Togorian was physically more powerful... but the Cat's cocky too; thinks himself above me. We'll have to correct that.

Taking advantage of his quick reflexes, the Jedi stepped quickly onto the box in front of him and launched himself at the Sith. As he sailed through the air at his target, Benjamin's body spun swiftly around as he directed the Force down the beam of his lightsaber.

[OOC: Benjamin is looking to use "Battle Strike" (swift action), move to engage the Sith (move action), and attack (yay!). Battle Strike adds +1 attack and +2d6 dmg on a check of 15. The dmg increases by +1d6 at a check of 20, and another +1d6 on a check of 25+.

Also, please see note in Q/A

Benjamin's little manuever here is completely for story purposes and I'm not looking for any game mechanic bonus or anything. Hope that's okay.

If jumping off boxes to make an attack in this situation is going to risk some kind of Acrobatics check or other such thing, than pretend I wrote that he just walked over and slugged the Sith with his lightsaber.

I was thinking it would be super cool, purely for story reasons of course, if one of the combat droids came rushing over to shoot at Benjamin and the Sith Cat sliced him down to follow through on his threat.

Just saying... I think it would be a cool piece of cinematic action.

“Whatever th’ answer is, I’m thinkin’ it ain’t gonna be quick, right? And I know none of us are interested in bein’ like those adventurers that have gone before us. If we’re gonna get our hands dirty in this mess, we’re ready to settle in for a bit, right?”

Just so it doesn't seem like I'm too crazy, I'm hoping maybe, all y'all PCs will still be shooting a bit or something at them Droids and Mandalorians, hopefullly drawing their fire away from me.

Fighting the Sith alone will be trouble enough for Benjamin. Fighting the Sith along with his 4 goons will likely spell death for little Ben.

Oh... and a question for the DM: A Togorian is Large sized, yes? Meaning the freakin' Cat has a 10' reach too right? (Ben's so dead)

Subject: Plans

As Benjamin stepped into the hanger, he looked at Kate, “Nicely done!”

Getting his bearing, he quickly located the panel for the blast doors which would allow the Embassador and the Republican squad in. We need to get them in here fast, his mind raced.

It was then the Jedi noticed the opposing doors opening, revealing the shadowed presence he had felt moments ago – a Togorian, no less. Stay focused, young Jedi, he heard Master Rial’s voice in his head. Let us put away the fear. It will only cloud the mind.

Benjamin allowed himself a breath, gathering his thoughts and forming a plan. Then he spoke, not so much commands, for his companions were not under his authority. Rather, he simply spoke his plan – order in the midst of the chaos. “Doctor, Wrrlwarr – start up the ship. Kate, Arruna’dira – get those blast doors open and let the squad in. Maybe we can break up this group.”

Benjamin began to step towards the Togorian, while igniting both ends of his lightsaber. “I’ve got the big kitty,” he said grimly. May the Force be with us.

[OOC: So, if the enemy is currently 120 ft away, Benjamin will be igniting his lightsaber and doing a “double-move” action and going “total-defense” (I forget how much that adds to his AC). He is moving toward the Togorian, and, using the handy map, I’m looking for him to move 6 squares to the right (toward the Sith) and 1 square up (in the square between the two boxes), using the box for cover. Like in the previous fight, he’ll look to redirect/ block any attacks that come his way this round.]

Subject: Dark Jedi thoughts...

The Jedi watched as the others moved to follow the squad leader’s instructions. He was torn for a moment on what he should do.

The Khil turned his head and looked Benjamin in the eye. "Your help is needed more with them than here."

Benjamin shook his head slightly, “Embassador, I have orders to protect your life.”

The Embassador continued. "You should go with them. I am too tired to go with you, and I would only get in the way."

Benjamin began to protest again but the Khil stopped him, slipping something into his robes.

"This datacard must get into the hands of master Rial Moti. If I can not get it to him, you must. Now go!"

Benjamin nodded, “May the force be with you.”

Turning to the squad leader, Benjamin spoke quickly, “You must protect the embassador with your life.”

"We'll hold them off for as long as we're able,” came the reply. “Just hurry!"
__________________________________________________________

Benjamin hurried to catch up with the others. While aware of his surroundings, he mind also sensed something else – two dark shadows in the Force. Sith! Benjamin thought, the word a curse in his mind. Powerful too…

When Benjamin joined the group, Kate was already working at the computer port, looking for a way through the doors. So focused was Benjamin on his present surroundings and the disturbance in the Force, that he was caught off guard by the Arruna’dira’s interrogation.

"Why did that guy give you that data card? Whats on it? It better not be the reason we got attacked?"

Luckily, the good Doctor piped in a reply while Benjamin composed himself.

"Does it really matter what's on it? The Mandals want it and thus we're dead if we stay. Let's get out of here and then figure out what's going on.”

Shifting his focus to something he was more knowledgeable about, the Doctor looked to tend Benjamin and Arruna’dira’s blast wounds while the Twi’lek replied:

"I s'pose not, here, take this one, it's blank. Maybe you could trick them if the capture you, they get me I'm swapping sides. And yes, I took a bad hit."

Completely straight faced, Benjamin replied to the Twi’lek, “That’s good to know.” He slid the blank datacard into his robes as well.

Turning to the good Doctor, he stated simply, “Don’t worry yourself with me just yet. Patch her up if you can. We need to be moving out of here quickly. I sense a disturbance in the Force and it’s not looking pretty.”

Arruna’dira piped up with a possible back-up plan:

"Doesn't the guy who gave it to you have a ship? It's a long shot but if we can't get onto that YT then maybe I could fly us out on whatever he's got."

Benjamin replied, “The embassador’s ship is on the other side of this Cruiser. We’d meet resistance every step of the way and their forces will only increase in size. There’s simply not enough time.”

Looking over to the Droid, Benjamin inquired, “Droid, how’s it coming there?”
