Topic: Dawn of Defiance: The Traitor's Gambit
Subject: Like John Tesch... Information for your life.

[OOC: Instead of giving you all an XP bonus for your prompt posting, I am giving you information instead. I had Maya roll Computer Use and Gather Information skill checks to provide your characters with information regarding Deep Storage Bay V14. She rolled an 18 and 20 respectively… extra nice for you!!]

Maya gave a wiry smile to her rescuers, which quickly turned to a wince as she tried to manage the pain. “Thank you,” she said simply, giving them a nod, and taking in a deep, cleansing breath. “Alright then… let’s get to work.”

Taking out a datapad, Maya connects it efficiently to a nearby holoprojector. A 3D schematic diagram of Sel Zonn Station flashes to live in front of the companions. Using a touch pen on the datapad screen, the security officer quickly zooms in on deck P-12. “Here we are,” she says, highlighting one of the rooms. “And, as far as I can tell, you need to get…” her pen traces a line down, down, into the lower portion of the station, “here. Deck N-14.”

She pauses a moment to look at the companions before continuing, “From the intel I was able to gather, before the Empire became aware of my presence, N-14 is off limits to all non-Imperial personnel. It’s been quarantined for the last year and a half but, get this… no maintenance requests have been made to date.

“So, I asked around a bit,” Maya gives the group a sly smile. “Seems our dear Switch runs his operation out of the storage bay. He’s got some Twi’lek character delivering a monthly bribe to the station manager to keep quiet and keep the maintenance down to a bare minimum. The Imperials don’t like it much, but the local security seems to be keeping them off the deck.”

Turning back her datapad, she zooms up Deep Storage Bay V14. “Speaking of security, our droid has apparently got some Gamorrean thugs on his payroll. You’ll likely find some of them guarding the entrance here.” She points out the entrance before making one final note, “The station’s primary exhaust systems also run along the storage bay… or, rather, through the bay. You’ll know you have the right place when you see those exhaust conduits.”

A quick tap on the datapad and the image from the holoprojector disappears from sight. Maya removes the connection cables and returns the pad to her pocket. “I’ve got one keycard for the service elevators, and I’m going to need it to make contact with our ride off of here,” She says grimly. “I know you’ve made a name for yourselves on the Promanade, but you’re going to need to make your way down the main elevators to N-14 quietly and meet up with Switch. I don’t know of another safe way there.”

Changing subjects, she asks, “You got a comm unit?”

[OOC: Assuming Ithiria says yes…]

“Great,” she gives the Twi’lek a channel frequency. “When you’ve secured the cargo for transport, use the frequency to contact me. But!” she says sternly. “But, don’t use it until you’ve got the cargo secured. I think the Imperials are monitoring the frequencies.”

Looking around the room, she offers, “You’re welcome to take whatever you think you might need from here.”

"Any questions?"

No problem, man. I sometimes miss stuff too. In fact, I had it happen in a bad way at work the other week. Misread an email... very bad consequences...

At least, this is just a game.

I had a thought, though, as I was thinking about this game. Arruna reminds me of a Kender in someways....

... the thought still makes me smile.

Nice work, folks! I was looking for an update on Tuesday, but you folks got it done!! Way to go! (Extra XP for all of you!)

Anyway, I was thinking I would just be fielding questions today, but I may just update the game tonight!

Once again, really impressed, guys! Thanks for posting up!

Hey Loki, I'm guessing you just read over the line where I said that Benjamin was pulling the Embassador aside for a "private conversation".

I'm really looking for no one to hear their little talk.

“Trouble?” Benjamin said, appraising the Rodian. He was still annoyed at the indecent treatment he and the Embassador had received, and how this “officer” had just tarnished the name of the Republic through his bribery. His superiors will still hear about this, if I have anything to say about it! he fumed inside.

He continued to press the Rodian, “What kind of trouble you into here? Why don’t you spell it out a bit more clearly for us, seeing how the good Doctor just gave you the ‘free pass’ card.”

While outwardly he looked to listen, the truth was Benjamin wasn’t really interested in the Rodian’s troubles… not really… not right now. The Jedi was interested in getting this data card into his master’s hands and, after the Rodian had given an explanation, Benjamin drew the Embassador aside so that they might have a private conversation.

“Embassador,” he begins. “I know I don’t need to remind you of our mission. I am merely wondering if you have a plan for the safe delivery of those data disks to Master Roti? I was thinking, perhaps, the good Doctor might be willing to assist us with transportation, assuming we could negotiate a fair price. My question is, how much funds do we have at our disposal?”

Well, Almerin... I'd say we're all in agreement to head back to the Inn and follow through with Tamuril's suggestion of checking out our newly acquired stuff.

While Isi and Tami work on copying the book, Driscoll will spend his time talking with the townsfolk about their lives, gently prodding about their livelihoods, the sea, the wizard's tower, the monthly maruading monsters, the family feud from the past, etc, etc... just casual conversation, you know.

So... updates up! Yay! On time too! Double yay! (for me,at least)

Anyway, Maya's put her story and offer on the table. Feel free to answer questions either IC or on the Q/A, and I'll try to respond to them quickly. By the next update, I'm hoping that your IC post will include a section on whether your character is willing to help out or not.

Which bring me to my next point: Update. I believe I noted this on the first page, but I'm about to start a week of vacation. We've had a slight change in our plans, so I'd like to make a slight change to our update schedule. I'd like your updates to be in by Tuesday, June 9, 6 PM EST. Please post up questions you have or things you want clarified no later than Sunday, June 7, 6 PM EST.

I'll look to move the story forward on Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning.

The next update after that will be on Sunday, June 14, night(or early Monday).

Thanks!

Gundark looked Ara’ala and Ithiria over as they handed over their credsticks. “Hmmm… yeah, that will more than cover it,” he said grimly, the sure knowledge that these two fine ladies wouldn’t be dancing for him any time soon darkening his thoughts. “I don’t know what kinda trouble yer lookin’ ta brew, but when them troopers come by, I ain’t never seen ya.”

He paused a moment before shaking his head. “Don’t come ‘round here any time soon. I don’t need ta be mixed up in yer mess.” And with that, he went back into his cantina.

Having come to an agreement, Maya led her rescuers to a nearby maintenance room. The companions could tell that the woman’s injuries were affecting movement, a noticeable limp and a sharpness of breathing clear indicators.

In the corner of the small room was a service elevator. Maya made her way on to the platform, and motioned for the others to join her. The platform creaked and groan a little under their weight. The woman worked the computer quickly, punching in the unlock sequence and the deck request – P-12.

The ride up smooth and swift, as they rushed passed more than ten decks. Stepping off the platform, Maya led them out of the maintenance room and through a series of corridors. The heros notice that amongst the people that they pass by there are fewer non-humans than even on the promanade. No one seems to pay them much attention though. Finally, Maya stops in front of a door. Sliding the keycard, she enters in and invites the others to join her. The room is another maintenance space, with two enclaves to the right and left. The one to the right seems to contain only a bed and chest, while the one to the left looks like a small workshop with a table and numerous tools. A disassembled R2 unit is laid out on the table and on the floor around it.

Maya moves to the table and takes a seat on the chair. She indicates that the companions should gather around, and find makeshift seats from the boxes and crates nearby. When they are settled, Maya begins her tale:

“Like I said on the Promanade, I’m Maya. My employer is Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan. I’m with the Alderaanian Security Force and part of the Senator’s personal security detail. I arrived of the station nearly four hours ago to recover some valuable cargo for my employer. I’m supposed to meet a droid named Switch in Deep Storage Bay V-14. This droid, Switch, was responsible for receiving and storing this cargo, which was shipped all the way from the Deep Core.

As she continues, Maya begins sliding out of the top half of her coveralls, revealing a tight, black halter. “Before I could contact Switch, however, I was laid up by the Empire. Apparently,” a sharp gasp of pain escape her lips as she gingerly lift the bottom of her halter slightly to examine her wound. “the fact that I’m working for a vocal opponent of the Emperor has red-flagged me as a troublemaker. I get the feelin’ that the Empire wants me off the station one way or the other.

“So, here’s what I need,” Maya says, looking at each of the companions briefly, grunting a little as she tries to sit up straight. “I’m in no shape to be moving around this station. I need you to meet up with Switch, find out the location of the cargo, and recover it. I will provide you with transportation to Alderaan once you have secured the cargo. From there, you can decide where you want to go.”

She added, “Let me say, your efforts could possibly save many lives.” Focusing on Mars, “And Senator Organa will be more than happy to reward you for your work. “

“What do ya say? Interested in some work that could actually make a real difference?”

I'm in agreement with Dragon Mistress' suggestion. Our characters have had a full day digging, discovering, and rescuing. I say they're deserving of a pint or two at the Inn. Looking into the book somemore in a fine idea... maybe conversing with the townsfolk some more now that their heart are a bit grateful and their tongues are a bit looser. See if we can't gather a bit more info on what's going on.

Let's weigh in folks and move this story along! Are we all still in? Is Kaelyn still joining us?

Topic: Dawn of Defiance: The Traitor's Gambit
Subject: Troopers get owned...

The stormtrooper captain was ready to take another swing, ready to finish this alien scum, when the Twi’lek girl in front of him suddenly surrendered.

“I’m sorry mister Commander,” Ithiria said sweetly, raising her hands above her head. The captain relaxed slightly, thinking maybe they were finally getting somewhat.

THWACK!

With a sickening thud, the Twi’lek’s baton connected with the trooper’s helmet. The captain’s body dropped to the ground, all the signals in his brain misfiring due to the trauma it had just experienced.

The trooper next to the captain turned his head slightly and watched as his leader crumpled to the ground. It was just the moment Mars was looking for. With steady hands trained from an early age, the Mandalorian sighted the weak spot on the armor -- where the torso plate connected with the helmet.

PAH-OW!

The bullet wasted no time, entering into the trooper through the throat and exiting out his right eye. Blood and brain matter sprayed the interior of the man’s helmet, while the force of the bullet spun him around and sent him crashing to the ground beside his commanding officer.

The third stormtrooper, having lost sight of his quarry, focused his aim on the Arkanian. Watching his commanding officer and colleague go down beside him like dominos was more than a bit unnerving though, and the trooper was beginning to lose heart. I’m it, he thought to himself, panic starting to set in.

“What the frack is goin’ on out here!” It was Gundark, coming out to examine the damage to the door from the blaster fire. Scanning the scene, he stared down the Imperial soldier, more than a bit angry, “You’re gonna be paying for this!”

Damn it! the soldier thought. It was his last…

PZIZZOO! PZIZZOO!

Almost as though they were synchronized, Ara’ala and the woman popped up from behind the planter-box and fired on the distracted trooper. Their blaster bolts caught the man in either shoulder, the force slamming him into the wall behind him where he slumped down dead.

Seeing the various folks of the promenade staring at the scene before them, the woman did not waste a moment. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out two credit sticks and handed them to Ara’ala. “It’s two thousand. More than I promised, but I ain’t got time to collect the change.” Looking around nervously, she continued, “This place will have the whole detachment here within minutes. We got to get gone, now.” She paused for a moment, looking her three “bodyguards” over and considered her options. “Look, my name’s Maya… I could use your help, and you’re gonna need a safe place to hide out for a bit. I know just the place. We can talk business there. If you’re willing to hear me out, follow me.”

“But what about my door?” asked Gundark.

[OOC: Nice round folks! See the Q/A for more details.]

Topic: SW: Dawn of Defiance Q/A
Subject: Where to next?

Okay! So, you finished your first combat sequence. Nice work!

SCENE SUMMARY

Mars is the only one who took damage (11 points).
You gained 2000 credits on two credsticks, 1000 a piece.
You gained 225 credits on three credsticks, 75 a piece.
You killed 4 stormtroopers and a civilian (informant).
One civilian (informant) got away.
Maya (the woman) has an offer of more work and a safe place to “lay-low”.

POSSIBLE LOOT TO PICK UP

4 Standard Stormtrooper Blaster Carbines
4 stun batons
1 holdout pistol
1 miniature collar comm. unit

It will take each of you 1 round to pick up 1 of the above items. Meaning that if you wanted all of it and all of you were collecting the loot, it would take you 3 rounds. Please remember that openly carrying a carbine can get your arrested.

Also available:

3 “working” standard stormtrooper armor
1 standard stormtrooper armor with a cracked visor

It will take Ithiria or Ara’ala 5 minutes to remove a full suit of trooper armor. It will take Mars 2 and a half minutes because he is more familiar with armor. By spending a force point, Mars could possible pull it off in even less time.

You are also welcome to search the bodies in greater detail… the stuff listed above is only what’s obvious. Search takes time…

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR FROM YOU

Primarily, a decision on whether or not you are planning on following Maya.
Secondarily, a decision on what you’re doing with the bodies/ loot.
Thirdly, a reaction to my post.

In character, preferably… though I don’t expect this round of posts to be terribly long.

UPDATED SHEETS

I've updated your character sheets as well. Adding the 75 credits, and the 2000 credits to Ara'ala's sheet for now.

I've subtracted the 11 hit points from Mars. And I've added XP.

Mars gained 400 xp
2 update posts (150 xp)
1 RP-purely post (25 xp)
3 late posts by the GM (75 xp)
Defeating the Stormtroopers (150 xp)

Ithiria gained 450 xp
3 update posts (150 xp)
3 bonus: 1st to post (75 xp)
3 late posts by the GM (75 xp)
Defeating the Stormtroopers (150 xp)

Ara'ala gained 450 xp
3 update posts (225 xp)
3 late posts by the GM (75 xp)
Defeating the Stormtroopers (150 xp)

NEXT UPDATE: Wednesday, June 3

"Yer sure, but we better get rid of any local wildlife first. I don't want rats chewing holes in our stuff."

At Adol's "okay", Saysei dropped his large sack. With efficiency, he drew out a smaller backpack from within -- the essentials, really; stuff one might need to survive the environment and deal with unexpected circumstances.

Jon-Jon chimed in at the mention of rats, "I hate rats… I think we're going to need some more lights."

Saysei patted the medic on the shoulder with a big “mitt” hand. “Good idea, Besmic. You got something to do the job?”

[OOC: I’m assuming Jon-Jon has a light source of some sort (glow-rod or lantern). If not, Saysei will hand him a glow rod from his utility belt.]

Bringing the big DLT-20 back into his hands, the Iktotchi again took care of the back of the line. As they moved, Dara attempted to make small talk, "Where are you force? What drew them to you?"

Saysei smiled inwardly... almost smuggly. "Destiny," he stated seriously.

[OOC: Okay, so I didn’t add much more… just wanted to include Skari into the conversation…]

As the squad touched down at the base, Dara started speaking her mind, and (sorta) gave instructions to the team. Saysei knew she was new at taking the lead and was confident she’d grow into it given the chance.

“I’m going to the barracks,” Adol stated. “Saysei, you should probably check out the hanger, with anyone else who wants to check it out.”

“Adol,” Saysei replied as he gathered his gear. “With all due respect, mind if we all tag along? Like t’ drop off my stuff, if you’re okay with that.”

[OOC: I’m assuming Adol is cool with my suggestion.]

They made their way over to the barracks, Saysei pulling up the rear. With his massive DLT-20 in his hands, his eyes swept the jungle growth for threats and hostiles.

[OOC: Perception checks as we go… please ]

While Adol entered into the barracks, Saysei stayed at the door continuing his vigil scan of the area. Adol’s soft voice came into his ear, “Watch your back,” she warned. “I think something other then droids and us are here. Darren, can you see if you can find a generator somewhere and get it online?”

Saysei chimed in after Darren’s reply. “Whatdoyou think, Adol? Safe for us to drop down our gear?”
