Subject: Homecoming

"I surrender to you Colonel."

Words of defeat. Words that had oft been spoken on these very fields years ago. Perhaps the rank was different then, and the circumstances are most certainly different, but to the captain of Rocinante the words are spectral and hollow despite their small victory.

Wu steps forward towards the prisoner but stops suddenly as she realizes that Wyatt has not lowered his gun. Her eyes widen for a moment, "Captain? He is no good to me dead."

But the ‘Verse is much better off, Captain Sung waits a few seconds and then replies in a flat and unfeeling voice, "We had a deal."

"Yes yes yes. The paperwork..." Colonel Wu sounds impatient.

"I get the paperwork," Wyatt keeps his icy gaze on the broken man lying before him, his brainpan perfectly lined up with the sights on the captain's Colt, "you get your man."

The colonel stares at Wyatt for a moment and then transfers her assessing gaze to his steady gun-hand. "Very well." She replies curtly and waves to one of her bodyguards who immediately steps forward to hand her a document holder. She presents it to Wyatt, "As promised. One full pardon for Morgan Trent, aka. Samuel Dash. A record of expungement of his file. But, I am sure you knew this because as soon as we accessed his file, something deleted the entire record for us."

Wyatt shakes his head without taking his eyes off of his prisoner, "Don't know nuthin' ‘bout that." He finally lowers his weapon and takes the documents with his left hand.

Wu shrugs, "Must have been fairies then because we could not trace it."

"Captain Sung." Javelin breaks in, drawing the steely-eyed man's attention as Wu's men move in to take the injured politician into custody, "In order to thank you for the aid you gave the Guild in finding one of our members, we have a present for you. Willow told us what you wanted and, well, the alliance may not be able to find him but we found a way." He points to an Arrowhead courier ship nearby just as the cargo bay doors begin to open.

Quickly spinning the Colt on his trigger finger, Wyatt hooks the barrel on his holster and returns it to the snug grip of the leather. Focusing on the gangplank Captain Sung tries his best to suppress the anticipation building inside of him. Years have past and people have changed, but family is family and the potential for a reunion is enough to make even the consummately stoic Wyatt Sung draw himself up like he could only remember doing on a couple of occasions in his life. The first was when he was introduced to Eden. Again, when Eden first walked down the aisle and then again when Summer was born.

Coming down the gangway in a pink frilly housecoat barely long enough for modesty is Sam Dash. He is squinting in the light, holding a similar packet of document to what Wyatt has in hand with two beautiful ladies behind him dressed in business suits.

Hardly believing his eyes, Captain Sung steps towards his friend—his brother—stepping on Morningstar's injured hand as he does, eliciting a scream from the wounded man. For the first time in a long while, the Captain smiles.

Sam Dash doesn't seem to recognize any of the faces on the folk at first, but when his gaze lites on the figure of the man walking slowly toward him all of his apprehension and twitchiness is erased by the disbelieving laugh that swells in his chest and burst past his lips. "Ta ma de! Ya gotta be strokin' me!" Both the paperwork and the hem of the too-short housecoat fall from his hands and he is no longer walking slowly down the gangplank, he is running,

"Wyungsung, you shifty sumbitch," Dash is laughing and maybe crying at the same time when he reaches Wyatt and snatches him up in a crushing bearhug.

"Wo Bu Shin Wo Dah Yan Jing!" Sung forces out. For being such a wiry and lanky individual, Dash has a lot of tendon strength. Normally the kind of man to be strongly adverse to such public shows of affection, Wyatt easily forgives this and even returns the expression. "I weren't expectin' t' see ya this soon, puhn yo, but—Renci de Fouzu, put me down! I got's a reputation an' such."

Even after pleading in a respectable manner, Wyatt has to practically pry himself free. "An' Ni meí shì bà? I don' normally see this, side, o' ya." Stepping back, Captain Sung scratches the back of his neck and looks off to the left. "Where's yer clothes?"

West 43875 St. 52 High -- The Bartholomew School Grounds and Sewage/Runoff Drainage System | Night City Integrate | High City | UrbanZone - Day 2 (Saturday), 4:06 AM PST
Weather Conditions: High City (Thunderstorms, 15mph winds from the NE.) | Midcity (Rain, 10mph winds from the NE.) | Undercity (Fog and Rain, no winds.)
Air Quality Index: High City = 25 | Midcity = 42 | Undercity = 75 (masks required)

Rain drizzles from the towering city overhead sometimes swept to the side with a particularly strong gust of wind. Rivulets of water cascade across the mouth of the tunnel housing the sniper. With the time for waiting slipping away, Ghlan knows he has to make a choice. It is an easy decision, really. The possibility of harm to his companions means the sec team will not see tomorrow. Taking aim at the trailing team member, he squeezes the trigger and sends death on its way.

The report from the first shot echoes alarmingly throughout the cement cavern behind M'harú Ghlahn. Bringing up the rear, the security team member caught in the red-headed gunman's sights turns at a really inopportune time resulting in the first bullet tearing through the man's left shoulder and spinning him forward. Adjusting his sights, Alex quickly squeezes off a second shot. Even with his enhanced vision, M'harú Ghlahn can barely recognize the explosion of blood from his target's neck against the stormy backdrop. The sniper is already moving his crosshairs to the next team member before his original target has even fallen to the sopping wet ground.

Vegas remains ever vigilant as Blossom crouches near Fixer, although his Combat Sense is focusing upon his immediate surroundings, the Dapper Solo cannot help but notice the one bare knee and the shapely thigh above it that invites his gaze against the backdrop of her glistening wet black trench coat splayed out about her on the tile floor. In that moment he renews his commitment to protect the Asian beauty, knowing that she may be the only one capable of deciphering where the missing boy may be once the school files are accessed and examined.

His bracers are at the ready to unleash their power against any opposition as he thoughtfully adjusts his thigh bracers making himself ready to 'Jump' into action if the need arises. Vegas allows his thoughts to reach out to the possibilities of the the fate of his long time partner, Casino, when Fixer whispers that he has successfully gained entry to the door. It almost seems like slow motion as Blossom opens the door only to be stopped by Echo from entering the large reception area before a harmless-looking chair transformed into a hooded cobra molten monstrosity of death and destruction!

He hears Blossom hiss: "It's a construct! Don't let it touch you."

Vegas springs into action positioning himself to protect the lovely Asian beauty who has smitten his heart mentally reestablishing his vow to protect her with his very life!

Echo jumps back just in time, the freaky metal demon almost catching her. Her submachine gun already pointing its direction, she reacted purely by instinct learned from so much time with the clan. Her heart pounding in her ears, her blood on fire, she was determined to protect her newly found, friends? Yes, that's what she would call them now. Not quite family, but much more than compatriots. A stream of street obscenities pouring from her mouth, she fired upon the construct practically emptying the magazine while putting herself between Blossom and the beast.

Kicking in her hand, the adaptive nano-charged weapon spews forth her surprised rage in the form of a barrage of burning hot lead that tears into the construct's metal flesh and sprays the wall beyond.

Quickly pulling the pre-portioned bag of nanodust from her bag, Blossom tosses it to the tiled floor while desperately trying to ignore the sudden scream of gunfire near her head. Shoving her hand back into her bag, the young Asian woman feels a small orb in the palm of her left hand and extracts it in a fluid motion, tossing it towards the fine technological dust she'd produced a moment before. Mentally activating the command code, the netrunner feels a momentary surge of satisfaction as the single green light within the orb ignites seemingly drawing the nanodust from the bag in a swirling mass towards it.

Snaking around the technological cloud, the attacking construct strikes out at Echo once again. Snapping the air like a whip where the leather clad nomad had been a half second before, the defensive tech is met with disappointment once again.

Now positioned near the secretary's desk, Echo depresses the trigger again and empties the remainder of her magazine towards the security construct. More bullets riddle the surging nanodust body of the construct and slam into the wall beyond kicking up drywall dust and making an awful ruckus. Still a threat, the metal gollum looks more like a ragged sheet than the snake-like danger that had first attacked. Holes from the submachine gun fire show through the thin foil in rapid-fire spreads and yet it still presses towards the target of its attention.

Now in position, Vegas levels his Mark II and pulls the trigger three times in quick succession. The first shot shatters the lamp, the second and third strike the creature center mass. One of the rounds strikes the mindcore holding the attacking form together and shatters it into pieces that fly backward a full meter from the dust falling to the tile floor.

"Is anyone hurt?" Bloodbank demands, no longer keeping a low voice. He stands near the doorway weapon in hand his face unreadable behind the cracked skull visage of his combat mask.

Now standing over the fallen dust of the security construct is a chrome samurai with glowing green eyes peering through its grimacing mempo, katana in hand. Blossom folds her bag and slings it over her shoulder as she rises from her crouch. "I'm fine," she says in a somewhat disappointed tone. "But we've made a lot of noise and I don't imagine we'll be sitting in calm waters for long."

From his position within the sewage drain, Ghlahn repositions his scope crosshairs on the lead sec-team member. The other team is not of his concern for the moment. He must eliminate the remaining member of this one before he can worry about the next. His first two shots have alerted the team lead and the sniper trains his weapon on the man just as he finishes spinning and dropping to a knee, the Minami Submachine Gun he holds brought up and held at ready. His path already set, M'harú Ghlahn breathes out and fires again, immediately adjusting for the recoil to line up his crosshairs again.

Whether due to adjusting for the target's new position, or in a rush to line up, but the shot takes the soldier through the upper left arm twisting the man's body slightly with the impact. The momentum flings the arm backward. Ghlahn can see his target's head swivel, casting about for some sign of his attacker. Reflexively, the killer pulls the trigger again and feels the kick of his Nomad .44 but the man throws himself to the right and the round strike him in the same arm. A reckless look past the scope reveals that the man is still alive and conscious, struggling to rise to his feet while kicking towards the perceived safety of the buildings. At the same time, Ghlahn can see that the other two in the second team have apparently determined the general direction of the attack. Their dog is rushing towards him barking madly. A guess by the experienced killer has the dog converging on his hideout in a little over four seconds.

I'm back and ready to bring this story to life again. Who's with me? As a matter-of-fact, I've done so.

You've all made a lot of noise. Secrecy is gone. You can expect a lot more impressive security teams to show up. Now you need to decide how much time you might have before you are swimming in very hot water. What kind of sec-teams are stationed on the campus and how long until support teams arrive?

Stardate 2365.02.11 (Thursday - 42143.8 )
USS Peregrine; Deck 1 - Main Bridge - 11:08

Lt. Dio Lasad turns in his chair and regards Mathias. "Chief, when the shuttles return we're going to have an interesting dilemma on our hands. One of the cells in the brig is currently occupied. We're set to receive a potential of five terrorist survivors. Even if we didn't have a current guest, it's only designed to accommodate a total of four prisoners, let alone, injured personnel. With the ambassadors on board, we are chalk full and do not even have any spare quarters to offer up as an alternative. I'm afraid our options are limited to either designating a portion of Shuttle Bay Two towards the housing of prisoners or to find a suitable means to house all five surviving members of the Stormspike's crew plus our very own Mister Crane in the Brig's two cells. Even moving Mister Crane to her quarters for the interim still crams three to one cell and two to the other. Though I don't believe those accommodations will provide Dr. Moore and her team with sufficient room to treat their wounds, it is the best I can come up with right now."

Concentrating on her scans, Asovil takes a moment to look towards the conversants. Such details as to how they are going to house the prisoners and tend to their wounds had completely escaped her analytical mind and the realization surprises her. Flitting sapphiric eyes play over the smooth, clean features of the Risian Ops officer to the narrow eyed visage of Lieutenant Berk only to be drawn back to the Trill who has so aptly captured her attention over the past few days. Occupied as Tochi is, the Andorian woman's gaze can linger a moment without feelings of self-consciousness overwhelming her.

"We'll make due with whatever space is afforded us, Lieutenant Lasad," Dr. Moore inserts from near the turbolift door inciting Asovil to wonder when she had arrived on the Bridge. "I assure you that my staff are all well trained in the instruction of combat triage. Whatever injuries these unfortunates have sustained will be cared for with attention to necessity only until we can assume a more agreeable position."

Dio smiles kindly at the new doctor and tilts his head forward in acknowledgement. He also wonders when she had arrived but the thought is brief. "I am sure your team will do whatever they can to work within the confines of any situation, Doctor." Turning back to Lieutenant Berk, Lasad asks, "Will the Brig be sufficient, or should I send a team to Shuttle Bay Two to prepare for prisoner holding and triage?"

"Wherever these terrorists are to be housed," D'Lar remarks with a vein of conviction in his tone, "I will see them as soon as they arrive. Answers are needed and I'm afraid the Federation's presence here will only hold each faction at bay for a short time. Perhaps, Captain, it would be wise to see that Ambassador Threel is present as well. The sooner his honorable sir can see that my people are not behind this horrible act, the sooner we can be about attempting to restore the peace talks."

Shrewd thinking, PO Zhang concludes of the dignitary's remarks. He is still concerned about the health of the mission. Either he's putting on airs to appear innocent due to the failure of the Stormspike's mission, or he is genuinely dedicated to the peace. Still unable to allow himself any relaxation in terms of his duties, the security petty officer remains watchful and awaits his CO's decision.

Stardate 2365.02.11 (Thursday - 42143.8 )
USS Peregrine; Shuttle Sierra One - 11:06+

The nymph-like red-headed pilot is someone that Crewman Toriak recognizes but she is so engaged in the launch routine that he does not find it logical to interrupt with a greeting. He also recognizes Lt. John Reid, the Assistant Chief Tactical Officer's usually friendly face is turned outward but Toriak can easily place him due to his uniform and hair. And there's a fellow Vulcan, Tolaris, with whom Toriak shares only a nod of recognition. The others are all people Toriak has interacted with on occasion; PO's Brady and T'Darin and Crewmen Rotet and Galla. A capable compliment of security if the Vulcan nurse had to deduce from the nature of their assignment.

=/= Lt Zai to Flight Ops, deploy Heavy-Zero-One; combat support."=/=

=/=Affirmative, Lieutenant,=/= replies V'lur in his stern monotone.

Orders in hand, Megan punches a couple of commands into the control panel and receives launch codes from Master Chief PO V'lur. Glancing over her shoulder past the bush of auburn hair that's barely contained, she checks to make sure everyone is strapped in. Taking firm control of the heavy shuttle, PO Owen engages the impulse engines. Toriak barely raises his eyebrows in response to the feeling in his stomach that results from the lifting off and the leap forward of the four man craft.

Megan drives the warp shuttle from the bay with ease. Once free of the Peregrine's bay, the bubbly young woman adjusts course to intercept the floundering Stromspike.

"En route," she reports.

=/= Keep an eye on Owen, Kook, =/= Lt. Zai's caution plays across the comms relay.

=/= Of course, sir. As long as she doesn't get too bouncy, that should be easy enough,=/=

Crewman Toriak raises both eyebrows at the banter. In his estimation the nature of their mission is serious enough that the behavior taking place seems alien.

"Oi!" Megan pipes in, "I c'n hear th' lot o' ye!"

=/= Zai out, =/= The Peregrine's second responds.

John let's out a laugh as he secures the gear bag he's carried on board. "We've got a red haired Irish pilot and calm and collected Vulcan in the front seats, well let's show 'um what Fire and Ice can do."

Petty Officer Tolaris raises an eyebrow, "Ice, sir?"

"Take it as compliment and just roll with it."

Megan gives a nervous giggle, "Aye, sir, ye cunna be in betta hands. Let's show 'um how it's done, Toly."

The Vulcan transporter specialist tilts his head and glances towards the pilot. "Toly?"

Toriak watches with interest as Megan laughs again and replies, "Oh, jus' roll with it."

"Aye ma'am," Tolaris replies flatly. "I will—as you say—roll with it."

John could almost swear he witnesses Tolaris smile. "I hope the video surveillance is working,we need to verify who we pull off that ship. If things go bad for us that record will tell who was behind the attack. Tolaris? Can you extract just the bio material and leave any metal or cloth behind?"

"Sir, the life forms would be naked when we retrieve them," PO Tolaris looks over his shoulder to view the human sitting next to Toriak with a quizzical, if brief, gaze. Sharing his fellow Vulcan's curiosity, Crewman Toriak also rests his eyes on the senior officer. They are all armed with phasers and the cramped quarters of the warp shuttle (which is built to accommodate only eight crew) will severely limit the possibility of the Stormspike's survivors from being able to do anything.

"Yes, I know," John responds, "but they would also be unarmed and not carrying any bombs when they are transported on board. It would also cause them to hesitate before trying to rush us, gives us time to subdue them. Once they are cuffed and shackled we'll cover them with a blanket."

"I see." Tolaris returns his attention to the controls before him. "This seems logical. I will attempt to comply, but I suggest that you keep phasers drawn."

"Seems logical," replies John.

Toriak considers the idea of beaming naked, wounded people into the extremely tight quarters of the shuttlecraft. As these thoughts are processed the Vulcan nurse looks down at the medical away mission triage pack he has cradled in his lap and a thought occurs to him.

"Sir," he begins. "Reports from the Bridge indicate that those we are en route to bring into custody are severely injured. The information I've received would suggest that the five lifeforms we are tasked with recovering are barely alive. Perhaps stripping them of their dignity might not be necessary."

PO Tolaris pauses in his programming and swivels in his chair to better face the lieutenant. "Additionally, sir. The confines of this vessel will severely restrict their movement. Strictly speaking," the Vulcan tilts his head to the left in an attempt to affect some appearance of humanity, "the captain would not have likely sent a shuttle—heavy though it may be—manned by a mere eight Starfleet personnel to retrieve five terrorists if he thought them dangerous still.

"The transporter sensors will automatically detect any harmful substances such as those that would be used in an explosive device and if it will ease your concern, I can retain the the lifeforms' biosignature in the transporter buffers long enough to perform a full scan of the molecular data. Should there be any sign of weaponry within their signature, we can address the situation at that time."

"Perhaps," Toriak adds, "we can erect a level two force field encompassing the latter three quarters of the shuttle. If you and I, sir, move up against the backs of the front seats we might be able to create a limited simulation of a brig cell to contain any potential threat while we further assess the lifeforms' condition."

"A decision bettuh be made soon," Megan quips, "we've no' much time left before we come within range o' the Stormspike."
