So are the Night City Dollars we are carrying = Cash ???
Unless it states that you have a credit transfer device, Sincard, or Credchips on your character sheet, you've got cash. Each of those other options costs monthly fees, and Edgerunners are already living tight, so only those with high reps who run some serious gigs can even afford the fees. Of course, there's black market versions...

Do we have the Credit Cards ??? Credit cards are referred to as Credchips, and unless it states as much on your sheet, the answer is no.

Subject: Public Transit in Night City

The question was rightly posed as to the cost of public transport in Night City. Hoofing it across a city that spans the whole of the California Coast isn't reasonable, so it stands to reason that without a vehicle of your own (which would be an interesting dilemma all by itself), you're going to make use of the fallible and always exciting NCPTD (or private sector vendors).

NCPTD Bus Ticket = 1 NCD/stop (prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.) Undercity and Midcity routes only.

NCART Ticket (The Rail) = Upper City .75 NCD/station (prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.) | Midcity .50 NCD/station (prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.) | Undercity .25 NCD/station (prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.)

Ground Taxi = 3 NCD/mile + Gratuity (10 NCD/mile through Combat Zones, or if any violence occurs). Undercity and Midcity access only.

Red Cab Taxi Service, Day = 3.5 NCD/mile + Gratuity, Midcity and Uppercity only. (15 NCD/mile if any violence occurs - no combat zones and prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.)

Troubleshooter Cab Service (self-driving ground car) = 3.5 NCD/mile, prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash. Please note that these cars are outfitted with both internal and external security systems. Mess with the car, you could end up dead. As a matter-of-fact, there's a constant pool running at the Troubleshooter facilities as to the number of deaths per day caused by some jacked fool messing with a cab.)

Troubleshooter Cab Service (self-driving AV) = 15 NCD/mile, prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.).

Troubleshooter Cab Service (Gyro or Speedboat) = 10EB/mile, prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.).

Troubleshooter Extraction Fees:
- Extraction from a Patrol/Controlled Area = +20%
- Extraction from a Firefight = +15%
- Extraction from Gang Violence = +10%
- Extraction from an Illegal Area = +25%

AV Taxi Service (there are a number of them) = 15 NCD/mile, + Gratuity. 25 NCD/mile if there's violence. Prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Aerocab = 25 NCD flat fee + 10 NCD/mile and Gratuity. +25% if there's violence. Prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Corporate Zone Rental Car (groundcar) = 50 NCD/day + 2 NCD/mile. Insurance is heavily pushed and runs an additional 30 NCD/day, prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash. Corporations are miserly and will come after anyone who damages their property.

Honda-Avis Vehicle Rental Service = 100 NCD/day. Paid in advance. Prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Renta-Robo Rental = 220 NCD/day + .60 NCD/mile, prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Executive Transport Service (+driver) = 150-850 NCD/hour.

Maglev Standard Ticket = 100 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.
Maglev 1st Class Ticket = 250 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Dirigible Standard Ticket = 300 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.
Dirigible 1st Class Ticket = 1,000 - 3,000 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Transatlantic Stratliner (3 hour tour ) = 2,000 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Transatlantic Jet (7 hour flight) = 300 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

Transatlantic Dirigible (36 hours) = 150 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

LEO Coach Ticket = 1,500 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.
LEO 1st Class Ticket = 3,000 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

GEO Coach Ticket = 2,500 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.
GEO 1st Class Ticket = 3,000 NCD prepaid, or paid through a SINcard or Credit Transfer Device. No cash.

You can get further out in Space than LEO and GEO, but we won't worry about that right now.

Things you would know about Upper City...

1. Security - Most of Upper City is Corp-owned, patrolled, and managed. What isn't, is Desnai. That means that there are regular security checkpoints, corporate security patrols, and near Desnai enclaves there are even Mecha. Corporate Security rarely asks questions. In the best of cases, they'll use non-lethal means to address situations, but that requires a lot of paperwork. Desnai are even less forgiving of anyone trying to enter their enclave without dogtags.

2. Unlicensed Weaponry - Any weapon that is not something that could be considered a concealed carry in our modern age would not be capable of being licensed without a corporate charter. CorpZones and Enclaves only allow those with permits to carry, so think of it this way: If you aren't affiliated with a corporation, you aren't getting a permit. That's not to say that Edgerunners haven't figured out how to create false permits. Fixers like Starlight can get them for a price. Depending on the fixer, they might pass inspection. Alternatively, you can always try to avoid checkpoints and patrols...

3. Access - Only the more rough-n'-tumble outfits service all three levels and every zone in Night City. Not even public transit will take you all the way from Uppercity to Undercity on one route, or in one vehicle. And public transit is rarely on time. Gangs like to screw with public transit vehicles, tracks, and routes. Why? Because it's fun. Need there be another reason?

4. Monitoring - Uppercity is heavy with cameras and bio-monitoring devices used to keep executives "safe." So, if you're in Uppercity on a main street, in a regularly used alleyway, tunnel, or lift... chances are you're being watched.

Any other questions?

Just letting everyone know that I have a rule with games that I run. I will absolutely update the game at least once per week. If you have not posted your character's actions, thoughts, and desires I will make them up in order to keep the game alive. I've found it to be a necessity in these forum-based games.

Here's the kicker, Gatos. I may, or may not, be kind to your character and leave the decisions that I make for you up to dice rolls. How friendly are you with the Universe? Disengage from the game for a bit and find out! Go ahead. I dare ya.

In the character awareness descriptions I indicated that Vegas was a capable leader due to his Leadership Talent. So, I'm assuming that CAPTIN is referring to M'haru Ghlahn acknowledging the skill.

I threw down a quick response from Starlight pertaining to the questions and interactions that have taken place.

Tann, the cost of the materials is based off of the market through which they are obtained and a little bit of a profit margin for Starlight. If you want to haggle, it will require a negotiation check (Casino's COOL+Persuasion/Fast Talk+1D10 vs Starlight's COOL+Streetdeal+1D10). Let me know, and feel free to use the Inn's dice roller to email me the results, or I can roll for you.

All right, Ghattos. You've a character vying for a 2nd in charge after (what I'm assuming) he's figured Vegas to be the born leader. Great interactions thus far. Feel free to continue with the character play and development. If anyone can get in touch with Oxxia, that'd be nice. Otherwise, I may just take her over as an NPC. The character is too rich to let walk.

Night City Integrate | Undercity | OceanZone - Day 1 (Friday), 11:54 PM PST
Weather Conditions: High City (Thunderstorms, 15mph winds from the NE.) | Midcity (Rain, 10mph winds from the NE.) | Undercity (Fog and Rain, no winds.)
Air Quality Index: High City = 25 | Midcity = 42 | Undercity = 75 (masks required)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

James doesn't miss the tone in Starlight's voice. He pulls down his mask and speaks, "Better late than never, darling. You're the one that messaged me. Was a bit too far out to make it on your timeline. Now, my name's Mathis but the handle's Fixer. I'd prefer to keep my name off the streets if that ain't gonna be a problem."

"Cheeky bakuto, aren't you," it wasn't a question. More of a statement that the fixer made as she acknowledged his comment with a slight narrowing of her eyes. Her baby blues are drawn to Casino as he leans over and engages in a brief, whispered conversation with Vegas.

"Well Miss Starlight," The blond solo says as he finishes with his partner. "This is sure a pretty big crew for an easy run."

"Saint Nick wants to make sure Jace is returned sooner rather than later. She left the how of it to me, and I figured that the more professionals working together as a team, the more likely a successful run. If you don't like the numbers, or you're feeling a little squeamish about the validity of the gig, you're welcome to skip on out."

"Well," Casino continued. "We're hoping for some type of taser in case the boy gives us a hard time and three more grenades for my launcher as I see out of the seven of us I'm the only one packing artillery. Vegas is sending you the list now."

As Casino finished, the fedora wearing solo pressed "SEND" on his agent and the fixer stopped spinning her's long enough to view the screen. "High explosive, frag, and smoke?" She looked up at the big man from underneath her groomed eyebrows. "You forgetting the whole concept of running silent, choomba?"

"Better to have them and not need them, than need the damn things and not have them," came the gruff response.

"It's your coin," Starlight slipped the agent back inside her jacket. "The grenades will likely take me a couple of hours to conjure up. They're a little black. The taser'll be a piece of cake and will cost one hundred ten Night City Dollars. I'll give you a deal on the grenades—against my better judgment. One fifty for the high explosive, seventy-five for the frag, and forty-five for the smoke. You're looking at a total of three hundred and eighty paid in advance."

(OOC: Assuming a bit of conversation/haggling)

Unless delayed, the gorgeous fixer makes her way out of the room, closing the door behind her and leaving the lot of you to figure out how you're going to locate Jace.

I am utterly trustworthy. It's the Po-Po and Media that you need to worry about... oh! And perhaps the boosters, the posers, the Alt-Cults, the other Edgerunners, and let's not forget the pollution.

Grenades cost $50 to begin with and increase in cost depending on the type. So, the grenades you purchased weren't all the standard concussion, and there are two types of concussion to boot!

Tann, pretty sure you meant to write $7,700. I'll look at this number again, but I usually am pretty accurate... for now operate under the assumption that you have the lesser amount.

You can purchase a stun gun for about $60 (Militech Taser). Grenades begin at $50 apiece for standard boomers. However, I would like to point out that grenades go BOOM and cause a lot of damage, so they're attention-grabbers and would tend to attract the attention of the Po-Po and Media. Are you so sure you wish to outfit yourself with grenades?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Cowgirl got a name?" The suited solo casually asked.

"Well, ain't that snaaks," Starlight impulsively grinned as she used the Afrikaans word for funny. Dropping back into her chair once again she ignored the protesting squeak of the metal legs as they scooted slightly on the nu-concrete floor and shook her head slightly. "I do this all the time. You chombattas don't know each other from Adam, and here I go off expecting you all to just be chummy.

"Let's play the Get-t'-Know-You game so we can get on with business."

"My Handle is Vegas. This here's Casino."

(OOC: Assuming everyone pipes up with their intros,)

"You've a couple of other edgerunners who are running a bit late, but will be joining you shortly," Starlight informs everyone when the introductions are through. "As a matter-of-fact, one of them just arrived."

The door to the room is opened by the Gray Samurai standing outside admitting a man of approximately 5'7". His average build shows very little by way of fat on his body. He is wearing olive drab trousers with a black shirt and boots. His jacket is also an olive drab green color that matches his trousers and has a grey hood and zippers on each of the lower parts of the sleeves. Slung over his left shoulder is a dark brown leather pack. He is openly armed with an Uzi on a shoulder sling beneath his right arm under his jacket, barely visible as he moves through the door. More readily visible is a Militech Arms Avenger autopistol in an outside waistband holster on his right hip. His head is covered by a black watch cap and his hood is up. Over all, he's a pretty non-descript fellow.

"Team," Starlight intones with a slight derisive tone. "Meet Mathis."

(OOC: Mathis' first interactions with the party.)

Starlight rubs her left eye with her knuckles and raises her pierced eyebrows. "Like I said, you've one other latecomer pending. Her name is Echo. Just got a message from her that says she'll be here any minute.

"Echo will round out your team."

"About time we hit the Street and Make Bank." Vegas acknowledges. "But first, what say we get acquainted with our specific talents of expertise and figure out a plan of action?"

Vegas directed his question to the Fixer, adding, "Any special reason why you chose us for this package delivery? Did you message anyone else... or are we the only Edgers you got a response from to deliver the package?"

"I sent the invite to a few, but you all were the first to respond. After I filled the openings, I closed down the invitation. My agent is responding to each inquiry right now with a sweet little message letting other edgerunners who are interested know that the gig is off the market."

"If getting this kid back is so important," Casino piped up in his deep resonating voice. "Do you have any extra gear we could use to help in completing this run successfully? Med gear, extra ammo, some grenades for my launcher? After all Miss Starlight it's better to have something and don't need it then don't have it and need it."

"Well, Mr. Casino," Starlight answered back while affecting a Southern drawl. "You got the dough, I can get you what you need. But ain't nothing free sweetheart."

Satisfied that Starlight would offer no further enlightenment to his or anyone else's questions, Vegas turned to address the group. Turning to Blossom he asks, "You got a special place where you can tap into to locate the information we need for the package delivery?"

(OOC: Blossom's answer and the subsequent dialogue,)

Vegas pats the pistol secured in his shoulder holster and tips his fedora to Blossom with a smile and adds, "The rest of us can set up shop where you think is best... where we can cover you... to make sure no one disturbs your research... so to speak." Turning to the others he adds, "That is... unless any of you have a better idea... or plan of action... for securing the delivery of the package?"

The door swings open once again and the Gray Samurai steps aside long enough to allow a pale little woman to slip through the door. She stands a petite 5' 3" tall with dusty brown, chin-length hair contained beneath a brick red Balaclava. She's pretty, but not alarmingly so as most of the beauty is contained within her bone structure and soft features—more of the girl next door look than the fashion model that Blossom is, or even the Glam model Starlight could be. She wears a mottled, brown leather duster over similarly styled leather pants and a leather corset covering a red, black, and white plaid button-up shirt. Her boots are knee-high, riding boots with straps and antique-styled buckles. She has a brown canvas day pack slung over her left shoulder and a bolt action rifle across her back. A survival knife is strapped to her left thigh, and a H&K2020 Submachine gun can be seen under her right arm. The real unique touch to her whole look is what appears to be six small, red gemstones implanted just beneath her skin, three on either cheekbone.

"Well," Starlight quips. "It's about time. This is the last of your team—This is Echo.

"Now that you're all here and getting along, I'll be taking my leave. The night is young, and there's work to be done. You've my contact info if you need to reach me, chombattas. Upload your status on the hour, every hour, and keep me informed so that I can keep Saint Nick in the loop. Au revoir, my pretties."

Unless delayed, the gorgeous fixer makes her way out of the room, closing the door behind her and leaving the lot of you to figure out how you're going to locate Jace.

A thorough list of 2020 gear is available in the Reference Guide. V3 has a really sparse list.

I think late arrivals is the best way to introduce your characters. Though, don't expect Starlight to be happy about your tardiness. Name of the game, savvy?

Undercity has ground vehicles. The buses aren't in the best condition being subjected to graffiti, accidents, and gunfire. Some of the buses would even be armored, most are driven remotely (think drone) or are self-driven with security gun turrets to discourage tampering, or robot modules. Taxis are also available, though taxis driven by people charge extra for delivery to troublesome areas. Air taxis will deliver from High City to Undercity for a price. There's also subway, monorail, and elevator tubes. The freeways run overhead and have off/on ramps every few miles.

Great follow-up posts, by the way. I'm hosting an awards banquet tonight for work, but will hopefully be able to provide a lickity-split post of my own to introduce the new characters and have Starlight answer the questions that have been posed.

The red-headed edger with the .44 Nomad and the stocking cap was the first to raise a question. He laughs derisively and says, "So lemme get this straight... some corp's son gets kidnapped, and you think that the best option is a handful of highly trained killers? I'm not one to turn down a job, Christ knows I need the cash, so I'm going to keep my opinions to myself. However, I would like to know, how much force is applicable here? How about degrees of escalation? And, should I engage with stealth and close-quarters brutality, or long-range cold-cut precision?" He sweeps his cap from his head with a hand through his shock red hair and accompanied his laugh with a half smirk on his smug face.

"What's the catch? run's supposedly this easy, always have a catch. What happens if we don‘t get the boy back or he dies during recovery?" The large blonde soldier added casually from his place next to the Dapper Dan.

"Hey Go-Boy," Starlight leans back in her chair and raises her pierced brow as she stares the superior solo down. "Who better to face off against bandits than those who pack heat and live the Life? As for the plan; well, that really depends on what's called for, Wakarimasuka? (OOC: Do you understand?)

"Right now, we know less than nothing about what we're facing. This cowgirl," Starlight hung a thumb in the Asian girl's direction. "Will be instrumental in figuring that part out, I imagine. It might take some meet-n'-greets with school staff, friends of the missing boy--hell, even the crossguard. But the key point in all of this is that whatever goes down does so without a spotlight.

"As for your question," Starlight turned her attention from the cocky gunslinger and addressed the Gibson Combat Gear advertisement. "I'd conjure the catch'd be something akin to every run. The ultimate failure could mean being flatlined. If the boy dies, well, I can't imagine that'll go over well either. So, I suggest you do everything in your power to keep the boy alive."

"Are there any possible Leads worth sharing about the boy's disappearance?" The suit asked.

"What I have available to download is in that file on your agent," the fixer pursed her lips. "Not much, I know. But runners have done more with less."

"Does Saint Nick's Team know about us... and if so... how do we contact them?" another question quick-fire from the man in the fedora.

"Saint Nick is keeping this situation close to the vest," Starlight shook her head. "Ain't no other team at this point. If Saint Nick needs to be talked at, I do the talking. You get in touch with me. And no. I won't be going along with you. But I am available through the Edge should you need something."

"Are there any Suspicious Rivals worth noting that may be involved with the boy's disappearance?" Another great question fell from the lips of the crooner..

"None that were given." Starlight leaned forward and began to play with her agent, rolling it about in her thin fingers.

"While I'm guessing Nick's wishing on a star this package was delivered yesterday, are we working with a countdown?" The beautiful Asian casually delivered.

"Sooner rather than later," the fixer replied, occupying her eyes with the device being turned in her hands. "A missing child ain't gonna stay off the media's radar for long when it's a Highcity kid with ties to a Collar. Work fast, but be good at what you do so it stays clean."

"Cool. You got transport for us, something to load us and the kid in when we need to bomb out, or we got to make our own way in the city?"

"Unfortunately, there's nothing doing as far as immediate rides, but if a need arises we can talk. Something is always available for a price."

"Why hasn't not-so jolly ol' Saint Nick gone to the police, or some sort of other authority?" The man with the skull battlemask finally spoke up. "Is there something preventing him that we might need to be concerned about?"

"Yeah," Starlight smiled prettily. "Saint Nick don't want the public to be aware of the situation, and is cautious in what news spreading could do.

"Any other questions, or are you all ready to hit the pavement?

"Like I said, I won't be joining you in the dirt, so I suggest you all think along the lines of who you want to take lead and figure out how you're going to get started. Time ain't no man's friend, chombattas."

I believe that we're going to do well.

Vesper, the Desnai are agoraphobic who deal in robotics and holograms. I can see a Desnai Alt-Cult member venturing otside their parkology if they started questioning the isolationist philosophy, and were thus kicked out due to an inability to play nice with others. There's the rare case where the character would be sent on amission, but in all honesty it would require the former to be party to this operation.

By the way, I've posted a follow-up to the questions.

I appreciate your help with the Character creation, Ayrn. It takes a little less pressure off of me.

We take fresh meat as well as nicely aged Kobe.

Vesper, a Techie is a mechanic, computer technician, locksmith, gunsmith, etc. Cyberpunk is a game filled with technology and mechanical gadgets, guns and cyberware. If a Choomba gets shot in the meat, the Medtech handles it. If a Choomba gets shot in the metal, a techie takes care of it.that's the generalization... heavy generalization.

The character would likely have a couple of guns (what Edgerunner in their right mind wouldn't) but his gear would be more likely filled with things like tools, techscanner, extra components for equipment, and all the cool tech gadgets. Being a locksmith and an electronic locksmith would probably come in handy much the same way a thief comes in handy in D&D.

As for a sniper rifle; there are plenty. Just look in the 2020 Reference Book. There's also supressors. That's in the same book (as are gun customizations).

Vesper, I'm sure everyone would welcome you to the show. They could use either an additional Solo or a Techie.

The team could use either an additional Solo or a Techie. I'm sure they'd welcome you. Do you have experience making characters?

I'm not about to try and channel your vision of Blossom.

Correct on both accounts, Ayrn.

Good start to the posting, my little meatbags. I'm going to give everyone a chance to post before giving Starlight's responses.

One quick correction on your post Tann. The Gray Samurai aren't the location of the meet, but rather a boostergang (the fellows you encounter outside the fish processing warehouse with the battlemasks).

If found us through some DarkNet LinkedIn place, can you make a Library Search check for Blossom for the following:

1) Blossom would do a search on Starlight and try to pull up as much info as she could on the fixer prior to coming to the meeting. - Check your PM.

2) With her cyberwear (minivision screen) and wifi connections to her Agent, can Blossom give mental search commands for the other four people runners here in the room with her? Maybe through image recognition software? - Simple tasks can be ran through the mental link. Consider them preprogrammed default commands for the Deckchip. These would be a DC 10 or less. Anything more than that and you'll need to use your entire interface. Performing a Library Search for these Edgerunners—accessing the DarkNet in general—is more of an Everyday (14) to Challenging (1.

3) Having the pic of the kid, and the info of the school, can Blossom run mental search commands to gather an additional information from the DataPool regarding Jace? Maybe some friend of his posted something online about his disappearance, or there's info on the DarkNet about the disappearance? - This falls under the realm of the previous answer (2). You have to enter into your Deckchip specific unique information so it isn't a preprogrammed command.

Ayrn,

Those on the inside would likely mean whomever it is that Saint Nick associates with on a regular basis. So, work, friends, etc.

Your understanding of the offer was almost spot on. The difference being that if you return Jace you're paid $2k apiece. If you kill the kidnappers, you get $3k apiece.

Lastly, those looking for work would post their contact info and willingness on a Dark Net Job Board. You can even use a LinkedIn for Edgerunners. That's where all of you full-timers would post skillsets, etc. Those who have day jobs and run on the side arent as likely to be taken seriously in that environment.
