Topic: Diabolic Genesis-Origins of Evil
Subject: Xavier finds this funny.

Xavier smiles at the kings remark about Camille. "It does me know displeasure to know that my bloodline has not been sought out once, but twice. However, she does seem to hand around that assassin quite a bit, and he isn't about to let her go. So, it's for the best I guess."

Xavier pours himself another glass full of wine. "Also, I've been paid many times before the completion of my job. Though I must admit, after tasting this wine, I would say that this is good enough. A very fine vintage, I must say. And contrary to what you believe, payment bounds me. I learned that from my sisters lover. It seems like a good outlook, and fair enough."

Xavier's red eyes glinted dangerously. He took another large gulp of his wine, finishing the glass. "I agree with the Miss Ithil'luume. Let us travel to this armoury so that we may see what we have access to."

Grabbing the bottle and filling his glass again, he casually begins to walk toward the door, when the governor begins speaking about his sister's situation. Stopping in mid pace, the glass slips from his hand, shattering as it hits the ground. Whipping around, he stalks over to the governor, his red eyes fiercely narrowed at him.

"Listen you. Camille is too good for that. And so is her lover. But if what you say is true, then I am very tempted to say 'aroint thee' because I'm off to save her." Xavier's tone is biting and sharp, as though he means to cut into the governor with words. "The only reason I'm here still is because I know she's better than that. Though if it IS true, then I am holding you to your word, that you will do your best to get her out. As the governor, I'm sure that will be enough to save her, should she need it. If not... I will be back. And I won't be looking for a job."

Backing up a bit, but keeping his eyes locked on the governor, he says in a slightly cheerier tone. "One thousand to fifteen hundred gold? Like the man of few words, I'm in. Let's see your armoury."

I was just making an assumption... oops.

Also, Tiamat, I wasn't expecting my sister to actually come into play here... but, Xavier is fiercely dedicated to his elder sibling... he'll take your word for it for now, that the Governor will try to save her... but if she doesn't make it back, Xavier is gonna be pretty pissed... and will come after you, accusing you of false promises.

Topic: Diabolic Genesis-Origins of Evil
Subject: Xavier likes wine... looks like blood.

Xavier's eyebrows raised as he noticed the wine. It was a very old vintage, and it looked to be well kept. If this governor had anything, he had a good taste in wines.

Taking the man's advice to heart, or what he had left of one, Xavier slumped into the nearest chair, enjoying the comfort. He smiled his thin smile as the governor told his tale of woe and misery. Keeping quiet however, he decides to listen to everyone else who seems to have showed up.

First, there was Lacey, a female cleric of Eilistraee. He had heard of Eilistraee, the Dark Lady, the Moon Maiden, the goddess of drow with less malicious intent. His half sister had told him about her, and how she was completely open to aiding all those innocent and helpless. No wonder Lacey seemed so eager to help.

Then, there was a human in shining armour. Oh great, a Paladin. It would seem that this became much more difficult to keep his own guise in check. Most Paladin's generally didn't like the idea of seducing someone and sucking their blood dry. Or attacking them and sucking their blood dry for that matter. Just generally sucking blood of people. Just the thought of blood almost made Xavier drool. He hadn't had some for a while...

And then there was an elf. Moon elf if he wasn't incorrect. She wore no armour, so his guess was that she was an arcane practitioner of some description. His sister had a pure aversion to anything that was donned save her clothing. And sometimes that had been questionable. But he just knew that she said it had done something with her arcane talents. Well... as long as she didn't probe his mind, Xavier thought she would be alright.

The silence in the room however became unbearable. So, in a dramatic flash, Xavier leapt from his chair, did a small somersault, and landed on his feet. "Well, I myself am Xavier von Richter of the noble clan of von Richter. It's doubtless you've heard of my sister, Camille von Richter, evoker of the highest order. I myself pale in comparison - and complexion - to her. However, it would seem as though these citizens have requested my aid due to my... talents, we shall call them."

"Now, it would seem as though this city is in quite a predicament governor. The question is - what are we about to do? And of course..." Xavier casually, yet dynamically, walked over to the food tray, and picked up a various assortment of meats. "What's in it for us? We are out there, possibly risking our lives by the stories we've heard, and you haven't exactly offered us anything yet. So what'll it be?"

Dear Sir,

We in Leaphaven are in dire need of help, for we are short handed in security staff in this town and a new development has arisen only a mile outside our city gates that could very well be a threat to the city. Two fatalities have already occurred and a little boy has gone missing and we believe this to be connected to the same problem. I don't want to go into too much detail for fear that if this letter falls into the wrong hands it may be viewed as a sign of weakness on our part and open us up for attack. All I will say is that this summons reached you for the reason that your reputation precedes you and though you seem young and just starting out in your career, you are good at what you do. If you accept the mission of investigation and elimination of threats outside of our city gates, please teleport to Leaphaven with my courier and come meet with me. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Cordially yours,

Governor Bailash Castor

Xavier read the note, a small grin forming on his face. He hung from the rafters in his room, where he had recently had the note delivered to him. He had to hurriedly throw the covers over the bed to hide his... dinner, but he managed to do it in time so as to not seem suspicious.

"So... Leaphaven eh? Well... might be a good time to hide myself... it would seem as though I won't hide forever... and all hell is gonna break loose if they find me. Maybe I'll take this job up... see if I can't make a few gold." Xavier muttered to himself.

He had his things all over the place though, so he smoothly dropped to the ground, landing silently, and proceeded to walk around the room, opening small secret compartments and pulling out small objects, potions, and other miscellaneous items. Throwing the covers away from his bed to permit him to access the holes in his mattress with items in them, he took a small moment to glance at his meal. The now pale woman lay there, motionless. Blood was blood, and she wanted him. He moved her aside, and pulled out a handful of shuriken, which he placed in his boots. Wonderful. Now, he had everything. Placing the blanket back over the woman, he blew her a kiss, then decided to leave the city, before anybody began to ask unnecessary questions about the man who always stayed home, had guests come in, but never come out. The Xavier von Richter who showed up one day, tired and weary, and had made a bet to eat a raw steak, both to get food and blood. With the money, he'd bought the house atop the hill, and rarely went out. Too many possible questions, no answer's that Xavier wanted to give.

"Leaphaven... heh, I wonder if I'll meet someone like my half-sister Camille. Ever since she got caught up with that assassin, I haven't heard from her since. Pity really. We got along fairly well. Oh well, I'm sure I'll meet up with her again."

With his thoughts in his head, his gold in his pouch, and his weapons hidden on his person, Xavier began the trek to Leaphaven, and the security which that town offered him.

Alexandria noticed an approaching figure. Slowly rising, she smoothes her dress. A woman was approaching, she could tell that. She decided to quickly groom herself so that she could give a bit of an impression as to who she was, serving Eilistraee's grace. As the figure approached however, Alexandria felt a small amount of disappointment. Oh no... she was elven.

Elven people had never gotten along with her race. Racial grudges never seemed to settle, and many elves looked upon her with disdain simply because she was drow. But still... she would not give in to a racial grudge. Alexandria would be a good ambassador of Eilistraee's graces.

With a cool, smooth voice, Alexandria addresses the stranger in the native tongue, so as to provide no misinterpretation. "Greetings woman. Eilistraee's grace be upon you. What might you be doing wandering around a forest all alone? It's not always safe."

Well, I'd like to ask you to speak your name in common, so that we can understand. Perrin thought to himself.

Instead of saying that however, he smiled and took out his book and quill. "Well sir, we just came from that village, and they seem to all be in a hype about some strange attacks in the night. Apparently, they seem rather closed about it. Would you happen to know anything about it?"

"Also, as a druid of the sea, I'm sure that you have access to knowledge as old as the sea itself. Do you have any sage words of advice that are imparted from the water, one of the four fundamental elements of this world which we live in."

Glancing down at his waterskin, Perrin breaks into a sheepish grin. "Oh, and... could you please fill my waterskin, if this well is dry? I would greatly appreciate it."

I know that the die rolls were against me... but that still doesn't make it any less disappointing!

Brom, don't take it as a criticism... take it as a compliment. When the PCs get so angry that they tell the DM they cheated, it means that the DM is making such a good storyline that the PCs feel just like their characters would after such a defeat. Keep up the good work.

Hopefully my dice will just roll better...

The Village on the Way to Badon

Selunine and Trillion were still in shock about the events which had just happened, however now they had a new issue on their hands. As Selunine whipped out her scrying shard. With the magic flowing through her, she focused on the shard, and slowly a view of Badon became visible. Inside the city, the streets were smoking, everything destroyed, and corpses strewn on the ground. However, as you are looking, an old man walks by your sensor, and bends down to some of the dead corpses. He then stands, and continues on to the next group of corpses. He repeats this process until your sensor can no longer see him.

The city lies still for several heartbeats, and then - as though provoked by something - all of the corpses rise, and claw at themselves, pulling flesh from their bones. When this gory scene is completed, they all begin to lurch toward something... though your sensor can't see what.

Your coach master asks, "Is everything alright my ladies? Shall we continue?" He obviously isn't aware of what has happened.

Badon - Outskirts

Morasennarion drew her Katana, and held Ninian close to her as she walked through the now possessed Badon. As she walked, the skeletons noticed her, and began walking toward you two. However, as they began approaching you, the suddenly reared back, as if in pain. This prevented them from approaching you, though they followed. behind you, keeping their distance.

In front of you, surrounded by what seems like hundreds of skeletons, you see the man who had been following you in the forest. He seems to be easily dodging all of the claws of the skeletons. In front of you, as you and Ninian proceed, the skeletons notice you, and hold part, looking in pain. Once you get far enough, they close in again, behind you, thought they stay a good twenty feet away.

Badon - Center

Achilles looks around in a calm manner as he proceeds to dodge and duck every single attack thrown at him with ease. He sees mostly everything completely decimated, level to the ground. However, one thing that he sees is a rather sturdy pillar still up, though slightly burnt. Climbing up, you can get a full view of the city... or at least what remains of it. The skeletons are everywhere.

But what perks your notice is that there are three groups of skeletons. One at your feet, one near the entrance, which seemed to be standing in a wide radius around two people... and another one that was being absolutely destroyed by a someone. As you look closer, you can see heads flying, legs being destroyed, and body parts in general flying every which way.

The City of Eva

The tiefling's eyes narrow as you take off your hat, revealing yourself as an Assimar. He clearly doesn't enjoy Assimars, but isn't making any move to attack you. "Oh. You're an Assimar. Well."

All throughout your tale, the man remains quiet, and unmoving. When you finish, the same still continues for a few seconds. The he lets out a grunt.

"So. Let me get this straight. There's is a guild of assassins, who are after a dragon named Taori. Not only that, they are trying to raise Dragon Isle, which hasn't been seen since the Dragon Wars. They seem intent on bringing dragons back. And not only that, they have a plot in place to destroy the apostle in Alimar." He chuckles a bit, shaking his head. Finally his eyes meet yours, and he stops moving.

"Assimar, if it were anyone else telling me this, I wouldn't take them seriously. However, seeing as your race always has the motivation to 'do the right thing' as they call it, I'll take your word for it. So, Alimar eh? Well, that would be to the southeast. A bit more south than east, but still southeast. If you're going there, I'd like to accompany you. It's better than sitting here doing nothing. The temple won't be damaged, nobody comes here anyways. At least defending the faith is something worth doing. If you devise a plan, I'll come with you. The Apostle won't be dying anytime soon."

Subject: Dammit.

Lloyd couldn't believe what had just happened. Two marks had, two marks gone. Bloody hell.

Though he resorted back to his usual way of acting when something such as this usually happened. He was fairly well respected, and usually could get some help. He began barking out orders. "I want as many wizards as we can spare down here. Spells leave magical trace, and they can track it. I want this are untouched until they get here."

Turning on Witigus, Etaulph and Fenril, Lloyd was furious. "What happened? It's three men against one, and the one got away! If Madius hadn't happened to be a magic user, I would've at least had him! And you call yourself the city guard."

Dammit! he thought. I was that close! How could he have been able to cast magic? I was right on top of him! The bloody bastard. Lloyd sheathed his sword, and began scuffing the area around where Madius had disappeared, marking a large circle. "Nobody is to enter here except for the mages sent by the king, alright? I'm going to speak with him now." Anger was painted on Lloyd's face.

As he walked off, shoving some people who managed to get in his way, he was frantically going over everything in his mind. Cynthia... the money... the assassins... everything was just a massive jumble. He couldn't bring himself to believe what had just happened. Nor would he permit himself to do so. The castle was in the distance, but he was going to make it there soon enough. The king would want to know that the bounty got away. No... they didn't get away. They just delayed the inevitable.

"Nobody gets away from Lloyd von Schtreider. I'll find those two, and bring them to justice in the most painful way possible." He muttered to himself.

For the first time since he had been bounty hunting, he had lost his target. Not only was it one target, but two. And they were very important targets, for sure. He was fuming. He had left his cloak at the gate, but it didn't matter. He couldn't feel the cold. He was fueled by rage. The king would hear him. He wouldn't stop until he did.

Lloyd threw off his own cloak with his free hand, as he knew it would only get in his way. With his hand inside the cloak already, he drew his rapier, keeping his eyes locked on Madius. He called out to Witigus, and the rest of the guard.

"Oy! Witigus! That's him! The one with the blond oily hair and the watery eyes! He's got a crooked nose and a sack over his back! Get him now! I'll take care of Madius! And remember; we want these men taken alive so that they can be brought to justice in front of the court! Plus..." He smiled as he showed off a bit of his signature swordsmanship.

"Lloyd von Schtreider doesn't let anyone escape the law."

With that, he charged at Madius, closing the distance as quickly as he possibly could. A shot from a crossbow wasn't the best way to start the fight against you, but if you could catch a criminal with his crossbow out while you were in his face, he wasn't going to have a good time.

This was it. He was going to get Madius, and hopefully Witigus and the rest of the guard was able to get Tales. And then he was going to get the reward for finding Count Urolin's murderer. And he would be able to pay Cynthia back for all she had done... staying with him all these years. He would get a house...

But that would have to wait. With a thrust, he jabbed at Madius' arm, hoping to immoblize it and render it useless. Two arms are definitely better than one. And so the fight of Law and Lawbreakers was joined.

Perrin's face sank as the Syl said that the well was dry. Taking in the man's features, he made a mental note that he would have to write this down in private sometime. But, he picked his face up again, putting on a cheery expression.

"Well, I had actually come here to fill my waterskin from this well... but it's dry is it?" With a look just to verify, Perrin looks over into the well.

"Well, that's strange. Do you mind if I join you here? You see, I'm a scholar of sorts. Well, a scholar in training. I collect stories from people, almost as though I am recording my life, and taking in the people that I meet, and the places I see.
