Xavier shrugs. "Alright, it was more just a possible suggestion. Well, it would seem as though we're just going to go inside... and that's all hunky-dory to me."

Regarding Selummiel, Xavier shrugs again. "Well, I mean, we're going to spend a lot of time in there anyway... so we might as well take advantage of the fresh air that we can get now. Sure Sel, go ahead and take some time to delve into the secrets." Xavier looks at the others. "Assuming that's not a problem with all of you guys and gals?"

Another post is up.

Nimu, that Dominate spell is fantastically evil to use against the GM. You're getting a lot of answers here - and I'm sure they'll come in handy.

To everyone else... I'm capable of doing two things at once. I don't want you to feel like you have to turn off the RP since Nimu's asking questions. If you want to do something, post it, and I'll GM that too.

Game on!

Ninian visibly struggles with herself at the request made by Trillion to tell them what seemed to be revealed by Sonia. "Trillion, my friend... At least, I hope so... I... I will tell you sometime. But certain things that this witch knows... are not by my choice. I am one who would keep my secrets until I die... but I am guessing that this will come out at some point. Just... not now? Please?"

Ninian stares with big emerald eyes at Trillion, hoping that she will not press the question, and having absolute truth in what she said.

Meanwhile, Selunine returned to questioning Sonia.

"Linus, my mistress. Well... where do I start? Linus is what he wishes to be. His form never stays the same... it's unnerving. He shifts his form to keep himself unnoticed among societies while he spies on them. But, he still remains the same on the inside. Many people have called this being a doppleganger, but I don't know if that's the exact term for it.

He is an incredibly powerful magician. A wizard of untold powers and capabilities. But what's odd is he takes his power from souls. He is able to harness the power of a dead creature's life force, and make it his own. He thrives off this power, and uses it to grant him various kinds of strength and powers. He can become more nimble, or he can change shape entirely - more so than usual - and gain that creatures abilities. He has his own private study which is full of his spellbooks. I was in there once. He had almost 50 books in there. It was amazing! How I would've loved to just spend one day in there copying spells... But such is a foolish wish. He would never let anyone do that while he was alive.

He was one of the powerful leaders in the great war between man and dragon. However his goals during that time were... skewed. He did not seek to destroy the dragons, but conquer them, dominate them, use them under his own control. And some he did. He used his magic to manipulate them against their own kind. I think it's one kind of magical backlash from using magic on a dragon. It made him... strange. He was rumoured to have died, that's why he's still alive today. He probably set it up on his own. There's no way they would've let him live after his actions in that war. Now, he is the leader of the Black Fang. And that is that."

"Does my mistress require anything else?"

First of all, the post is up. Sorry it took a while, but school started out here, and it was a rough first week. I should be good now.

Secondly, Jozan has sadly dropped the game. Time has become a rare luxury for him. Braxtue will be NPC'd though, in case he has time to return.

The group had no more questions for the king, only questions about his motives. Leaving the castle, with Braxtue in tow, the five depart go around town for a while, preparing the necessities, but having most done, they are able to leave the town within minutes. On their way out of the town, a guardsman meets them, with four horses, a pony, and a mule.

"These are from his highness for use of the champions. The journey to Ankhol ruins is not difficult, only long. I'm certain that the champions will be fine for such a trek."

With horses and ponies under you, and a mule traveling with you to carry any excess supplies, the group sets off.

Upon leaving the city of Champa, one thing becomes apparent - these thieves seemed very casual. Everyone is able to see many foot prints, heading in the general direction of the forest. But these footprints don't look humanoid - instead, they have two toes at the front, and a third at the back. They continue along the path, the track never disappearing. However, at the end of a days travel, it becomes time to set up camp, and casually enjoy each others company for the evening, and learn more about each other.

The next morning brought the adventurers to the top of a huge hill, which yielded a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. In this view, the adventurers could see Ankhol ruins in the distance. However, it seemed as though this is where the thieves split up. One group went to the north, into the mountains. One group went straight east, to a thick forest, and one group went south toward the ocean. They all seemed to be divided into equal sized groups of about 5 or 6.

Braxtue, being the obvious one of the group grunts. "Huh. Looks like they split. Well, which way do we go? I don't care - I just want to get this over with."

Subject: The moon?

Alexandria observed everyone hard at work. It was quite different in this society than her old one. Here the women were actually labouring. That seemed quite odd. But, she would accept it, for she was now part of this world, not her old one.

Alexandria scans the sky looking for the moon, if this new plane had one. There must be some kind of moon... Eilistraee is present in all worlds, and her home is the moon, so it had to have influence here. Alexandria strains her eyes searching for a hint of a moon.

While she is scanning for the moon, Alexandria decides that everyone has worked hard, and doesn't need to have to scavenge for their own food, or eat stale trail rations. Calling upon her divine power, Alexandria pulls from non-existence a bountiful feast - not just for the humanoids, but also for the dragonettes and the horses. "Dinner is on me tonight. Eat from Eilistraee's goodness."

The meal consisted of a stew containing venison, lamb, beef, pork, carrots, celery, potatoes, and lentil leaves. There were several loaves of bread of various varieties, and fine wines. For the dragonettes, a helping of meat was brought forth. And for the horses, there were several raw vegetables, and grain.

((OoC: I'm casting "Create Food and Water", but I was wondering if I could spend a couple extra mp to make it actually taste good, and have wine instead of water. Your call though, DM))

"Yeah, I agree. I think it's high time we ransacked this place and took everyone out. I mean, we're fantastic, right? Nothing can beat us."

Xavier smiles, back to his old self again. It seems he just needed to be in town once more.

"So... should we surround the house, or just barge in the front like we did last time? And when I say surround the house, I don't mean do it in singles; doubles at least."

Sonia's face brightens up as Selunine gives her the gold coin.

"My mistress, I would never think of trying to disobey you, and never would I wish to not fulfill your wishes to my fullest ability. I will be open to you as I would be a lover."

As Selunine asks her questions telepathically, Sonia's face turns to confusion, but still eager to please.

"Um, mistress, are you not an elf? Last time I was there... you were all elves in the misty isles. Has that changed? Or... I'm sorry, I should not be asking questions mistress. I know that you live for a long time... as you share my lineage, if not the exact same variety.

My daughter knows you name because of what Linus has told us. He noticed a ship coming from the misty isles in his scrying while he was searching for Ninian. Nobody has left the misty isles in a long time... and so, he made note of it.

The Black Fang is... well, many things. It was established in the year 77 DE when there was a large increase in crime among the humanoid population. It was established as an underground policing between cities. However, when the war began, it was turned into a strike force against the dragons. It was an elite team of strikers, that was able to take down a dragon in seconds. However, when the dragons were taken down, the elite soldiers were left with nothing to do, and very little recognition... which didn't sit well with them. Linus then stepped in, convincing us to become a band of thieves, so that we could take what was our rightful reward for our exploits. And so, we became a band of thieves. But then we were hated. And then... he said we could take control of the humans so that we could have power and respect. And so that's when he came to us with dragons.

Beyond the ritual... we plan to rule the world. It's fairly simple. That's what I know, and that's all I need to know. I will have power and respect, which I deserve for what I've done for this world."

Sonia makes a puzzled expression, and cocks her head to the side. "You mean Ninian has not told you why she is being hunted. It's simple, sh-" Sonia's lips move, but the words are drowned out by something louder.

"No! Selunine, please don't inquire about that!" Ninian's voice pierces the air like a shrill cry that drowns out Sonia. She then blushes and backs down. "I mean... don't... just don't. Please?"

Sonia stares at Ninian. "Would you like me to repeat what I just said, but was drowned out, mistress?"

The king listened quietly as you all asked your questions, and as Braxtue joined you four.

"Okay, now that the fifth is here, I will answer all of your questions.

Drizzt, I don't believe that any extra precautions other than basic survival gear, weapons, and food are in order. But make sure you have your wits about you, as you will need those too.

In regards to lead to the group or organization, I have no idea. Whoever they are though, was highly trained, discreet, and fully capable of doing what they wanted to do. And the chance that they are all in the same place - for now anyway, is quite high I think. But, I have had little experience performing such tasks, so I cannot be certain.

The statuettes were sealed underneath my castle, with many enchantments on them so that they would be kept safe. I had a watch in front of the vault constantly, and there was an intricate puzzle to open the massive obdurium doors. I have no knowledge of who it could possibly be."

When Hunter asked about a sending them into a trap, the king furrowed his brow in anger. The guards beside the king lowered their spears, facing Hunter.

"I know them to be at the Ankhol ruins because that is where the tracks that our scouts found led to. They brought the information back here, like they were supposed to, then I called on you five to be champions and hunt them down. The thought of a king sending his own people into a trap could be grounds for accusing you of treason Hunter. You should be very wary of what you do. I've been told not many birds like being on top of the water, much less below it and anchored there.

And Efferi, you may be in the same line of work, but you definitely are safe. Your master has a golden eye for judging people's personalities... that's why he's so good at what he does. If he picked you as that guilds champion, then I am ready to accept you as that guilds champion. Also, it doesn't hurt to have a man who knows how the other side might think, does it?"

The guards raised their spears, and the king let out a sigh. "Anything else? I do have other matters to attend to. You four can fill Braxtue in on all that he missed. And Braxtue... try to be punctual next time."

Alexandria continues to hold Precious, but guides her horse slowly over next to Brianna, to see Flame again, and also to keep the two dragonettes close. If a battle broke out, if they tried to fly back to each other, they would be easy targets.

"Okay, we have food. I think we're ready to go. Xavier pretended to make sure his coin purse was still there, but was really checking all the vials inside his cloak, making sure none had broken.

To my knowledge, they both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Greatsword: 2d6 Damage, Crit Range: 19-20/x2

Greataxe: 1d12 Damage, Crit Range: 20/x3

So the greatsword has a better chance of getting a critical, and has a higher minimum damage, but a greataxe has a higher potential for maximum damage.

So I don't know which is actually better... I'm always more partial to the bastard sword myself...

The princess let that one syllable escape her mouth, then was shocked into silence. The princess stared at Altadys for a long time, seeming to have many thoughts going on inside her head.

"Then you must be... It must be true... But I never... It must..."

She stuttered for a long time. Then, gathering herself, she closes her eyes, and then looks at Altadys closely.

"Okay, warrior of light, if Minwu sent you, then you know what just happened. And so then I ask you to do a preliminary mission."

"You see, my father was the last one to be in the courtroom... but he knew everything about the castle. And so I wonder if somehow he had been able to elude them. Please... in order to join this army, I have one request. Please... find evidence of my father... either his death, or his life.

I normally would request a large group to go... but Nergal has made sure his son Kylar has strong security. And it's easy to get one soldier in than a large one. Some soldiers might still be loyal... But it might be difficult to find out which. But you have my faith Altadys. Do you wish to join this army, and finish this war, so that you may return to your previous life... whatever it was?

Subject: The castle.

Four of the five chosen arrived at the temple together. One had not showed up yet, but that would be his problem. And so they walked down the main road, and made it to the castle.

The royalty of Champa lives in the north of town nestled comfortably between the mountains. The stone construction towers before you, framing a well polished steel portcullis. The sun glinted off the portcullis, which was soon raised, permitting you into the courtyard, which is square and filled with trees, and very well maintained. Along the walls, you can see many exotic and fine silken tapestries... However they don't seem to fit with each other, seeming to be a random collection. On the opposite side of the portcullis, a large, dark wooden door opens, permitting you entrance into the main chamber.

Upon entering the main chamber, the tapestries give way to fine rugs, vases, and statues, again, seeming all very out of place and eclectic. There are guards lining the halls, but they recognize you, and do not attempt to stop you, permitting you to walk all the way through the halls. You are admitted into the royal chambers, and see a middle aged man sitting on a golden throne. You recognize him as the king.

"Welcome my champions. You may be wondering why I have called you here. And what I have to tell you today is not to be discussed with anybody else unless they say to you 'The winds of change are blowing the waters of hope onto the fires of despair which burns the earth of health.' This is a secret password which has been passed down by the royalty of Champa, and others who are important to this plot, which I will not explain:"

The King readies himself, taking a few deep breaths. Then, he begins.

"A thousand years ago, the world was different from what it is now. The world was sustained by the elements. Air, Earth, Fire and Water. These four elements, when balanced, caused the world to function perfectly, and everyone prospered. However, the illusion of power came to certain individuals. And so they tried to control all the elements.

And then these elements were further investigated, while the greedy persons wished to have a wider knowledge of how they worked. And what they discovered was that there were four large landmarks where certain elements were dominant. And then they traveled to these 'rocks' as they were called, they found an astonishing fact. There were people living at these sites who had some control over the elements... simply from birth, so it seemed. These people were called 'elementalists.'

And when the normal people became a threat from their lust of power, the chief elementalists sought a way to seal their powers. And so they created four statuettes... to house their powers. and then they traced their locations to one central location... and that location was Champa. So one day, they brought the four statuettes here, and we sealed them, so as to create a fulcrum to balance the elements. And it worked... until a week ago."

The king grimaces, pausing a bit to let you absorb what has happened. Then, he continues.

"They were stolen. All four of them. We suspect they seek to return them to the 'rocks' in order to restore the world to what it used to be. We can't let this happen. And so I wish to ask you to defend them, and get them back. We have one lead... They're at the Ankhol ruins, to the northwest last we heard. They was apparently some hidden magics there that have to do with the elements. I would like you to investigate. I know this is much... But I will answer any questions you have now."

Subject: Just throwing it out there...

The reason that druids and clerics get bonus spells because of wisdom is because it comes from faith and understanding - such as a religion, or a reverance of nature.

Mages (wizards) get spells based off of intelligence because, unlike the cleric, druid and sorceror, they have to actually work to get their magic, by studying and researching everything.

Sorcerors get magic because of charisma in two interpretation of the ability - understanding of people and how to manipulate their energies to gain a magical effect or good looks from a draconic or celestial heritage which influences it.

So, while it's your system, I'm thinking that the bonus mana should depend on the key ability, since all spellcasters are different.

Nimu, you're correct, the Dominate spell creates a telepathic bond between caster and target.

However, that bond need not always be followed... so while you may ask your questions telepathically, your thrall is answering them orally.

Hope this clears a few things up, and I'm glad you guys seem to be enjoying the game.

Sonia's eager to please smile disappears instantly as Selunine begins asking her questions again, but this time in a tone of anger, as oppose to the tone of love which had been given just a few seconds ago.

"My mistress, she is simply my daughter, a grey elf, just as I am! There were no experiments of enhancements or anything done! She was simply raised under my care, and was allowed to train as she would."

"She is capable of many fantastic acts... She was flexible, quick, deceitful, stealthy, and able to fight to some extent. She is just a child who was permitted to develop as she would, and then joined the Black Fang like I did when she wished to do so."

At Selunine's next question, Sonia takes longer than usual to respond. But, the silence is short lived as she answers, "I have walked through the mist on sand among the ivory towers."

Sonia's head dropped, unable to stare at her mistress after receiving such harsh questions, and having them delivered in such an angry way. "Mistress, have I failed you?"
